Esomeprazole for GERD "I have severe acid reflux, and my doctor recommended Nexium. I took it for only 5 days and experienced no difference whatsoever. Absolutely no change. I still have severe acids, and to be honest, the drug seemed to make my symptoms worse. As well, I am 100% sure it interacts with antidepressants and lowers their effectiveness! So if you are taking an SSRI, please be aware!"

Esomeprazole for GERD "I have very severe acid reflux with esophageal ulcers. I have tried tons of other medications, and this is the only one that has given me relief without needing to supplement with antacids! I do experience headaches as a side effect, but they are mild and worth the relief."

Esomeprazole for Duodenal Ulcer Prophylaxis "It is wonderful for your stomach. I was on it for 23 years. After two, I started to have what the doctor called panic attacks. Blah blah blah, tests and psychiatrist later, Nexium removes the magnesium out of your bones. Magnesium controls the release of muscles, heartbeat, swallowing. I had become severely hypo (low) magnesium, and no one ever caught it on a test until the last seizure. The guy in the ambulance who had seen me before said there’s something really wrong. When we got to the hospital, I heard them argue with the nurse about magnesium not being in a panel. Make sure you check his magnesium, the phlebotomist said, it is in a panel. It was not, 23 years of hypo magnesium and a two-dollar lab test. I googled it, side effects, severe hypo magnesium. What a nightmare!!!"

Esomeprazole for GERD "Beware of their marketing scam. I called the phone number on their marketing ad on TV. I asked for a trial, and the person said I would be charged a shipping fee of $7.95. I said that was fine. They charged me $7.95 on Oct. 4th. On Oct. 21st, I was charged $119.90. I did not receive the product until Oct. 30th. I called Nexium and complained about the charge. They said, “I needed to call 14 days after trying the product to cancel the agreement.” I was not aware of any agreement because I only asked for a trial, and besides, I received the product 9 days after I was charged $119.90. How was it possible for me to try the product in 14 days to cancel the agreement that was not explained to me? They charged me even before I was able to try the product. Nexium did not work. I took it for 3 nights and stayed up all 3 nights! This is really a scam, and I am disputing it."

Esomeprazole for GERD "I just want to say that if you have GERD and have a history of aspiration pneumonia, do not replace Rx Nexium 40 MG with the OTC 24-hour Nexium. They are not the same. After my mother wanted to try the OTC Nexium for a few months, she developed aspiration pneumonia after not having it for many years (10). She passed away."

Esomeprazole for GERD "I've been on over-the-counter Nexium 20 mg for 6 daily doses, as I hadn't been able to pick up my omeprazole prescription. My God, I thought I was dying! Massive panic attack yesterday, nausea, dizziness, and early morning insomnia, followed by crazy thoughts, diarrhea, and eye twitches. I still have waves of nausea, had no idea what it was until I visited these shared experiences. I'm off it now, and this review site has settled my nerves! This stuff is utterly toxic! Steer clear! Thank you all."

Esomeprazole for GERD "I had two months of daily, awful heartburn. I wasn't eating the best, and I was drinking alcohol. Well, that part didn't stop, but I did take Nexium. It was amazing. During the 14 days, I lightened my diet but still ate the things I enjoyed. I'm 35, and I think this is my first 'medication' review, lol."

Esomeprazole for GERD "I originally took this for three months a year ago. It worked great during the time with minimal side effects. Went off of it with no problem and had no heartburn for quite a long time. When I had an acid reflux episode last fall, I took it for about a week, where all these weird side effects happened. Developed lower right back pain, joints kept cracking when moving, and the occasional stomach pain in the lower left abdomen. Am disappointed since it was the only thing that really helped my reflux."

Esomeprazole for Erosive Esophagitis "I was given Nexium 40 mg two years ago after a diagnosis of mild esophagitis. Since then, I've been taking it on and off when symptoms return (mainly at the turn of the season). Sure, it does help with the acid, but at what price! I'm just 27 and have always been a sporty guy, but since taking the drug, I have developed chronic back pain, shoulder pain, and various tendinitis that are taking ages to heal. I don't know if the PPI has caused all these issues or if it's the gastritis, but after doing some research, I believe there is a connection with the drug. In addition, I'm getting constantly sick (flu, sore throat, cold), like my immune system has gone crazy..."

Esomeprazole for Erosive Esophagitis "Worst medicine ever!! I took this for gastritis for 6 days as prescribed by my medical specialist and only felt worse. I had a very mild discomfort in my upper abdomen before and after taking it, I felt as if my entire abdomen was tight and knotted and in pain. But the worst part of it was that it made me feel depressed and had really dark suicidal thoughts, and that feeling I can never forget. It scared me to the core. And then I realized it was this medicine that made me so mentally upset as well as physically in pain. I would not recommend this to anyone. Please use something else, but not this."

Esomeprazole for GERD "I thought it was working until I developed severe stomach cramps that wouldn't go away. Got scoped and discovered I had fairly severe damage to the esophagus, which had reduced the efficiency of swallowing down to 10%. Don't assume the medication is working unless you get checked. They switched me to omeprazole."

Esomeprazole for GERD "Took this a year ago for about 3 months and seemed to work for the most part. Just had a little bit of stomach 'pain' due to the PPIs being blocked. Went off after that duration and had few issues. Later, I was on it for two weeks, and it gave me strange side effects like lower abdominal aches in the back, a 'butterfly in the stomach' sensation that would not go away to the point where I would get 'attacks.' In the future, I'll only use this medicine for a week or so in case I really need it."

Esomeprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I don't usually write reviews, but I think this will help someone out there. Nexium nearly finished me! Three months of palpitations (high blood flow and high pulse rate) as if my heart will shut down the next minute. Can't sleep except aided by music. Can't sleep on my left side. Went for several ECGs (which always revealed tachycardia) then finally an echocardiogram, which was quite revealing. Heart is okay, but something keeps triggering my complaints. Doctor placed me on meds, and ultimately, by God's grace, I'm okay now. If I sight this drug anywhere, I will run."

Esomeprazole for GERD "I have had GERD since the 1990s. I have been on all different medications for this problem. No other pill has given me such problems like Nexium. After using it for 2 weeks, I got such achy bones all over that I was in constant pain. I have osteoarthritis but not all over like this. My stools are really soft, and I go a lot. Sometimes 2x or 3x a day. If I pass gas, sometimes I shart myself. I take Nexium 3 to 4 times a week. My body can't handle 7 days a week. This by far has been the worst GERD medication that I have ever taken. It works for my GERD, but the side effects are terrible."

Esomeprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "It is good medication, as it helped me. It was 14 days of treatment, but its side effects, if they were strong for me, I suffered from anxiety, agitation, and tachycardia. But when the treatment was finished, the symptoms disappeared gradually."

Esomeprazole for GERD "I'm so glad I found this! My fiancé has had 2 severe panic attacks. We couldn't figure out why. She literally thought she was dying and I took her to the hospital twice. Thankfully, before we would get there, she would severely throw up, and it would slowly go away. Today, her grandma mentioned, did this happen after taking the Nexium, and it did, so I googled it and found this. It is so true. This medication is not safe. It could seriously hurt someone!"

For Gastritis/Duodenitis "I'd taken this in the past but didn’t realize it could’ve been why I’d been having so many awful symptoms. This time I was feeling better when I started it, so I definitely noticed. I was having super bad fatigue, it was hard to get up in the morning or make it through the day, anxiety and racing thoughts, hair loss, diarrhea, generally just feeling super awful and unwell. I stopped taking it last night and actually felt like I could wake up today. I’d had to switch to caffeine pills, and those stopped working, I was worried I’d have to get back on Ritalin for fatigue before I put it together and realized it was this, and I’m glad I did."

For GERD "I was prescribed esomeprazole for acid reflux. I've taken 1, and my stomach feels as if it's being pulled out. Burning and aching all night. Headache and just feeling really rough. Worst drug I've ever taken. Will never take it again, I'd sooner have reflux than the pain and discomfort of that drug."

Esomeprazole for GERD "I have taken Nexium for about 10 years. It works so well! Though the last 6 months I have used Tums also. But the insurance says it isn't for acid reflux and won't let me have any more. Having a lot of trouble finding something that works! I want my Nexium back, it hurts so bad all of the time, even just a glass of water makes me hurt."

Esomeprazole for GERD "I started Proton Pump Inhibitors after cancer treatment in 1998. I started with a mild medicine and progressed as things got worse to Nexium twice a day. I haven't had the side effects others seem to have had, so I guess I am lucky in that way. It has helped the acid reflux for sure. But one side effect I haven't seen here is ED. For men taking this medication, if you begin to experience ED, consult your doc and see if there is something else that could be used."

Esomeprazole for Duodenal Ulcer Prophylaxis "I took just one capsule of Nexium 20 mg to protect my stomach while taking prednisone. This was before breakfast, as directed. About one hour later, I started to feel very ill: abdominal pain, the runs, and just feeling terrible. This lasted most of the day. I contacted the manufacturer for a refund."

Esomeprazole for GERD "That Nexium needs to be off the shelf. That Nexium 40 mg. I took it for four days and it gave terrible headaches and my body feels sick. I will never take another PPI again. I started it four days ago today. Who made that awful drug?"

Esomeprazole for GERD "I have been on Nexium many years, first 40 mg and for a long time 20 mg. It controls the reflux, but in spite of working on my diet, if I go off of it for a few days, I get very bad diarrhea and then might start to throw up stomach acid. Even tapering off might not work. I was originally diagnosed with a hiatal hernia."

For GERD "It's my 5th day using Nexium for my GERD. The effects were great in treating my heartburn, but just this morning, my skin began to feel itchy, the muscles in my arms, legs, and shoulders began to ache and feel weak. I just contacted my doctor to confirm if it was good or not. I hope this can heal immediately."

Esomeprazole for NSAID-Induced Gastric Ulcer "This medicine works very well for me. I highly recommend it, as it dramatically reduces the amount of acid in my stomach after a gastric ulcer bleed, which, after being repaired, I do NOT want to experience that pain again."
