For Nausea/Vomiting "Have nausea often, especially if I undereat one day. I'll be nauseous and have trouble eating for days on end. I've been given Zofran, Phenergan, and Bentyl at the ER. When those ran out and the nausea didn't, I looked on the web and saw Benadryl recommended. It's worked very well for me every time! You will most likely be pretty sleepy, though. Plan on some nap time."

Diphenhydramine for Insomnia "I consider ZzzQuil a low-level sleep aid, and that is all I need. It works great for me. I have no problem falling asleep. I often wake up and can't go back to sleep for 90 minutes. But if I take a 1/2 dose of ZzzQuil, I can fall right back to sleep. It does not leave me hungover. My wife and I both take it very often. Probably too often. I'm slightly worried that I am addicted to the non-addictive ZzzQuil LOL."

Diphenhydramine for Insomnia "I have tried everything non-prescriptive for sleep, and Sominex really works. I am 6 ft and normal build and only need 1/4 tablet. I've worked out this is the optimal dose for me, so I can still function well in a busy job the following morning. Anything more than 1/4 tablet and I feel too groggy to function properly the next day."

Diphenhydramine for Insomnia "I took half of one for a transatlantic flight - it worked well. I woke up at 5 a.m. to land, took a train from Newark to Manhattan, fell asleep for a further delicious three hours once I reached a bed. That would have been impossible without the Sominex. A whole one seems like madness!"

Diphenhydramine for Insomnia "This pill literally does not work. I tried taking one every night, believing that it would work, and nothing happened. Got 3 hrs on a good night. Then I upped it to 2 per night, then 3, and after a few weeks, still nothing! Nytol is so useless, it's unbelievable. Absolute waste of time."

Diphenhydramine for Insomnia "I really like Unisom SleepGels. I work at night, so sometimes I have difficulty sleeping in the mornings. They help me get the sleep I need, with no grogginess. And I only take them when I'm too hyped up to go to sleep, but I need to sleep."

Diphenhydramine for Insomnia "After trying several different sleeping aids, I ran across Compoz in K-Mart. I hadn't seen it anywhere else, so I thought I would give it a try. I got a good night's sleep for the first time in quite a while. I still take it occasionally and still get that good night of sleep. You can't take it every night for an extended period of time, or it won't work as well. I can promise you that."

Diphenhydramine for Insomnia "Works excellent if you haven't built a tolerance to it. After a few days of use, you may find the medicine is less effective than it was when you first used it. Benadryl knocks me out quite quickly when I use it, the only problem I have with it is that I tend to oversleep or wake up groggy the morning after, which is generally relieved with some sort of caffeinated beverage."

Diphenhydramine for Allergic Reactions "I have no rest every time I take Benadryl. I feel I have a really bad reaction as I feel restless, my body feels itchy, nauseous, and it makes me feel angry. Feeling restless really hurts my stomach. Am I allergic to it, or is it a bad reaction?"

Diphenhydramine for Insomnia "I have used ZzzQuil off and on for a year or so to help me fall asleep. I have noticed that on the nights that I take it (1/2 dose), the next day I experience head shaking tremors that I have to consciously control, especially when I drive. I will no longer take this medication as I am concerned about the side effect."

Diphenhydramine for Insomnia "I only took ZzzQuil for two nights. Both nights I slept just a few hours and woke up with a bad headache two mornings in a row that Advil didn't help, and it usually always does. I also noticed yesterday when watching a football game that my vision was acting weird, blurring like. I DO NOT recommend this to anyone. I have tried many over-the-counter meds, and nothing really works - does nothing at all for me, but this stuff made me miserable."

Diphenhydramine for Insomnia "I love Unisom SleepGels. I can't go to sleep and then can't stay asleep. This has fixed that with no grogginess next morning, no matter if you sleep 4 or 5 hours or 8 or 9 hours and feel the same. No hallucinations or anything. Best yet, it's over the counter and cheap."

Diphenhydramine for Insomnia "Absolutely useless - did not help insomnia at all. All I got were nightmares/vivid dreams. Nytol blankly refused to refund cost - their attitude was every one reacts differently. No wonder drug companies make money!"

Diphenhydramine for Allergic Reactions "I ate a new spicy chip I had never had before (purple bag of Takis, for reference). One of the spices or something on the chip I'm allergic to and didn't realize it, and as I'm driving 45 minutes back home, my tongue began to swell up. I grabbed two Benadryl and chewed them the second I got in the door; 25 mins or so later. Literally, the worst taste I've ever experienced in my life, but I am here today to tell you about it. Within 5 minutes, the swelling started to subside, and I was no longer half-choking on my own tongue, and I made it through. I do not recommend you rely on this in the case of allergic reactions, especially if it's involving your breathing at all, but that is my experience with it. I was 45 minutes from a hospital by ambulance and had to act. And they're talking about banning it OTC... what a world."

Diphenhydramine for Allergic Reactions "I couldn't stop coughing for one week. I lost my voice and had severe lung pain due to the coughing. I went to see a pulmonologist and did X-rays, the results were negative. My lungs were clear and had no infection whatsoever. He recommended that I go to Walmart and buy Claritin pills, but I was desperate last night to have a good sleep without coughing all night. I haven't been able to sleep with this horrible, killing cough, not to mention dry nose, itchy ears, and itchy throat. Last night I took two regular Benadryl pills and slept like a baby for 10 hours straight. The only problem is that I make my living driving and can't take the pills during the day. Probably I will take Claritin during the day, but I honestly prefer Benadryl, way more effective."

Diphenhydramine for Allergic Reactions "I am severely allergic to all nuts, and I always keep a few pills with me. If I eat something that has been in contact with nuts, I take two pills or a gulp of the syrup, and my itchy mouth and throat, swollen lips are instantly soothed. The syrup does work faster than the pills, but pills are lighter to carry around. I once ate a huge piece of hazelnut chocolate, and having Benadryl on me really saved me. It won't work on severe reactions, i.e., eating peanut butter, but it is definitely a lifesaver for all other allergic reactions. I am never without Benadryl and my EpiPen. The only thing to look out for is intense drowsiness, so make sure to be at home to take a long nap when it takes effect."

Diphenhydramine for Insomnia "I tried this Sominex for sleeping, and it's absolutely useless, tbh. Save your money. I've seen people review they take half a tablet, and they sleep great. Don't know how. I take 2 tablets and have zero effect whatsoever."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I tried everything yesterday to stop throwing up acid. I went from Nexium to Zantac to Pepto to Tums, nothing helped, and it all just came back up an hour later. Thankfully, my brother is a paramedic and told me about how they use Benadryl for their nausea patients, so I took 3 of the 25 mg tablets, and it worked!!"

Diphenhydramine for Allergic Rhinitis "I have allergic rhinitis. Was prescribed Zyrtec, Allegra, and Flonase, and I couldn't get relief. A pharmacist suggested Benadryl, and it's the only med that works. Took a generic brand, and all hell broke loose. Went back to the original, and I'm feeling much better."

Diphenhydramine for Urticaria "I was admitted to the hospital with a bad case of hives. I was put on an IV. They injected Benadryl into my IV to help with the hives. Within seconds, I couldn't breathe. The nurses had just injected it and were leaving to do some other errands. I couldn't breathe, and I couldn't speak, and I knew I was gonna die. I managed to pull myself up in the bed, sitting up, and started pounding on the side of the bed rails to get attention. That's when one of the nurses turned around and saw that I could not breathe. Within seconds, I had doctors and nurses around my bed. I now have to list Benadryl as an allergy. I probably should carry a medical bracelet just in case. That was a horrifying day."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Better known as Benadryl. Every time anyone is puking, I can always rely on this to immediately stop it. (Chewable form) My children have struggled with nausea with no help from any medication until this was brought to my attention. This is the absolute only thing I will use for nausea/vomiting."

Diphenhydramine for Insomnia "Ugh, just no. The first time I tried this tablet, I took a whole one. Did what it said on the tin, and I was knocked out within the hour. I slept for thirteen hours and woke up feeling terrible. Groggy, dizzy, and as if my limbs were tied down with iron weights. I wanted to cry at the tiniest things and felt bloody awful. Having slept for so long, I couldn't sleep it off. The next night, I took half a pill. In the morning, I didn't have the same grogginess, but I wasn't firing on all cylinders. I was also gripped with horrible anxiety that stayed with me until about 9 pm. I didn't take anything last night, and I feel absolutely fine. I find it difficult to chalk this up to coincidence."

Diphenhydramine for Insomnia "They do help me sleep, but I feel really terrible in the morning. Very groggy and very short-tempered. Have had to throw the pack out, as I feel so awful in the mornings. I've not noticed this to this degree of morning grogginess with other sleeping tablets. Horrible stuff!"
