For ADHD "Treatment for ADHD saved my life. Don't believe all the hype and the stigma around this diagnosis and treatment. It is a real condition, there is real treatment, and it makes a real and profound difference to the lives of people with this debilitating condition. So don't be afraid to seek help if you think you might have ADHD. It is not just a childhood illness, in my opinion, it generally persists in some form for the duration of your life just like any other disease."

For Narcolepsy "I was diagnosed with narcolepsy at the age of eight. I was taking a 5 mg tablet that handled my situation. I was able to be an outgoing, loving child. My body was managing medication without falling asleep at inappropriate times. I am now over 70, now taking 15 mg span one twice a day. I am able to function and maintain a high-profile professional position. The very worst part of this medication is the price. My parents were paying $5.00 for my medication. After marriage, I was paying a $15 co-pay, then went to a $35 co-pay, and now it’s $144. I think this is totally unfair and a ridiculous charge for this drug. However, I don’t have a choice because it works. I have taken other medications that caused hallucinations, inability to drive, heart palpitations, and feeling like I was on a high all the time, however, Dexedrine does not create a problem, not in the slightest. I do not experience dry mouth, jitters, hallucinations, heart palpitations, or any side effects with Dexedrine."

For ADHD "I have used it for over 15 years. An EEG showed I had quite a bit of extraneous thoughts, a left and right hemisphere that had identical thought processes, and a temporal lobe that was off the chart. Dexedrine changed my life. Unfortunately, many doctors are using outdated or outmoded technology and refuse to prescribe it."

For ADHD "I have been taking Dexedrine for about seven days now, and it has definitely helped with my chronic feelings of anxiety - that painful feeling in your chest. This, in turn, has allowed me to concentrate better on the daily issues at hand rather than constantly having that feeling of fight or flight regarding any number of daily life issues. Thus far, very helpful, and I hope to continue down this path - I wish I had tried this drug years ago."

For ADHD "This was one of many I tried. I was more satisfied with this one than any of the others. I never had headaches (with some I had terrible headaches!) The time release worked very well. Overall, I rate this medicine the best in its category."

For ADHD "This worked from the very second I started on it 5 years ago; Helped me focus like never before, although being someone with OCD who noticed most things anyway, this magnified it 10-fold. Gave a reserve of energy that helped even when tired. Only side effects were that you build up a tolerance rather quickly when it comes to the original effect, I began to grind my teeth as I slept, and had the worst dry mouth ever...could drink a gallon of water in 2 minutes and still have the driest mouth ever. Would recommend."

For ADHD "Dexedrine is a superb medication for controlling ADHD impulsivity. It's a 100% smooth and clean ride compared to Adderall. Unfortunately for me though, I lack motivation, so Adderall is a better choice for me. I did rate this based on symptom control. If Dexedrine motivated like Adderall does, it would literally be the perfect medication. Pros: Superior focus, reduced impulsive decisions the best. Side effects are minimal compared to Adderall. Cons: Lacks motivational kick that Adderall delivers. Only comes in 5mg, 10mg, & 15mg capsules and is expensive."

For ADHD "Dexedrine is simply a miracle. Ever since I was young, I felt distant from everyone around me, and I felt as though I was always in my own world. My grades at school really started to suffer once I reached high school because of my undiagnosed ADHD. Homework and projects seemed impossible because I could not concentrate. Now, after being diagnosed with adult ADHD, I am on Dexedrine XL 15mg and Dexedrine SR 5mg. With this medication, I am doing very well in my university studies. My mind is clutter-free, and I can actually focus on the task at hand! It's simply great! Dexedrine also works great for giving me tons of energy, especially when I need it for work and night school."

For Narcolepsy "I've been taking Dexedrine spansules 15 mg, 2 pills at a time, 2-3 times a day for about 30 years for narcolepsy. I'm currently 57 years old. If it weren't for this Rx, I would probably never leave my house. Through the years, I have tried various alternative meds only to find they don't work as well. Among the alternatives tried are Adderall (made me actually violent); Provigil (absolutely ineffective); and Nuvigil was worse than ineffective...because it gave me the sensation of being high. So I thought it was working and I got behind the wheel of a car...bad idea. Changed back ASAP. Been on the same dosage for 20 years. Side effects: for 10 minutes every day, I get a bad dry mouth and feel anxious. Cost is prohibitive."

For ADHD "I have been on Dexedrine XR 2 15mg in the morning for 19 years, and I don't know what I would do without it. When I go a day without it, I just can't seem to get my everyday living done. I feel scatter-brained, my thoughts don't make sense sometimes, and I feel like my brain can't keep up with itself, and that is no way to live. I'm so thankful for this medicine because without it, I don't know where I would be in life."

For ADHD "I'm a 32-year-old girl who has been diagnosed with mood disorder spectrum, which includes bipolar II, generalized anxiety/panic disorders, and social phobia disorder. I've been treated for them separately for 15 years with every psych medicine out there. I haven't been feeling right for a while. I went off medicines during my two pregnancies in the last 3 years. Recently, I saw a new doctor who told me about my mood disorder spectrum, but he also said I had a severe case of ADD, which I had never been diagnosed with before. My insurance would only pay for Dexedrine. By my second dose, I felt like a new person! I was scared the stimulants would make my anxiety worse, but it really makes me calmer and focused. My friends noticed after the first day that I was feeling better. It's the best thing since Xanax!"

For ADHD "I was on two 15 mg spanuals a day. I felt great when I began taking them. Way more focused, not just at home but at school too. My grades had improved tremendously. I had absolutely no troubles with this medication. I was taking Dexedrine for a little over 10 years. Due to my other meds I now take, I'm unable to continue to take Dexedrine. I would recommend Dexedrine to an adult or child."

For ADHD "I have found that Dextroamphetamine ER cap (AKA Dexedrine spansules) are best for treating my ADHD. I have tried Ritalin and Adderall, and both came with bad side effects. Ritalin made me feel like a zombie, and Adderall had sexual and hypertension side effects. The switch to Dextroamphetamine has increased my focus, alleviated my ADHD symptoms, and also increased my sex drive. I used to take 10mg x 4 Adderall, but I find that 10mg x 2 Dexedrine ER works better for me. So I was able to decrease my intake of amphetamine while switching to Dexedrine. After half a year, I have found no negative side effects whatsoever."

For ADHD "I absolutely love Dexedrine! It doesn't give me the crash that Adderall has, and it really keeps me focused on the tasks at hand. I was able to thoroughly apply for a gig and landed it, and I wonder if I would have on the alternatives. I hear they're trying to rid Dexedrine to switch over to Vyvanse, but since that drug has no generic and the two are about 99% similar, I'm guessing it is more for profit reasoning. I'm telling everyone to switch over, you won't regret it. 1 15mg er/day should be the max for those considering switching. I read somewhere on here a doctor prescribed about 100mg, which is too much and the reasoning for your manic state. Go for trusted generic brands like Sandoz and Mallinckrodt. Teva is the worst."

For Narcolepsy "Have been taking Dexedrine from the days of SKF, and before. Now in my seventies, a different pharmacist gave me a generic version from Activa Co., which seemed to have no proper drug in it. I mostly felt cheated because there was no helpful effect. I felt lousy and slept away 3 months of my life, having no energy. I could not function normally as before. I called my pharmacist to report the medication was not working, and the spansules weren't even the same color or size. He said they are a cheaper brand. I told him I don't mind paying more for the proper medication I have taken daily for more than 50 years. I refuse to be abused in this way, and will take my next script back to my previous family pharmacist."

For Narcolepsy "I was diagnosed with narcolepsy at 18 years old. I have been taking Dexedrine for a little over a year now. I recommend using Dexedrine because it does a great job of keeping you awake without the nasty side effects that other medicines bring, like Adderall. Dexedrine has really changed my life. I am able to confidently drive and do well at work without having to worry about falling asleep. I really wish I had this in high school. For all the younger people out there with narcolepsy, ask your doctor to put you on Dexedrine, it's less expensive than Adderall and Vyvanse (Vyvanse didn't work for me, I fell asleep several times on it). The side effects I find with it are sometimes it gives me mood swings, most of the time, it's a feeling of optimism."

For ADHD "I'm 38. I've been taking Dexedrine now for my fourth time for a month. I was diagnosed at 21 in 1995. I tried Ritalin for a couple of weeks and stopped. I went untreated for a few more years. I went to my doctor about my wild mood swings and EXTREME emotions and told him about Ritalin. He said I should try Dexedrine. Instantly, it did wonders. If a coworker said something that would have offended me and got me bent out of shape, it just rolled off my back. I felt great and inspired. It didn't affect my sex drive at all."

For ADHD "I've taken many different medications for my ADHD over the years: Adderall, Ritalin, Strattera, Concerta, and Vyvanse. Dexedrine is the most effective with almost no side effects. I only experienced slight appetite suppression with it, and it never affected my mood negatively, nor did I ever feel 'cracked out' on it. I now take Vyvanse because the slow release works better with another medication I take; however, I would strongly recommend Dexedrine to anyone who is looking for an effective treatment for ADHD."

For ADHD "The amphetamine molecule has two mirror images of itself. Dexedrine is only one of those images, whereas Adderall is both. However, Dexedrine is cheaper and just as tried and true as Adderall. Some Dexedrine generic tablets are scored and come in doses as low as 5 mg, giving you the ideal opportunity to discuss proper individual dosing with your doctor. When I was a kid, my doctor had me on too high of a dose. Now I take Dexedrine with my breakfast and don't run into any problems with one cup of coffee. Some of the therapeutic properties of Dexedrine diminish, but the core CNS activity stays pretty reliable at the same dose in my experience. I strongly recommend monitoring your kid's prescription bottle. Sometimes smart kids can make mistakes."

For Narcolepsy "I have been taking one 10 mg spansule and one 5 mg tablet in the morning and the same dose at lunchtime for over ten years (since I was diagnosed with narcolepsy). It has been a lifesaver for me. It keeps me alert while driving. I was told by several doctors over the years to STOP taking it because I would need more and more of it as time went on. My dose has always been the same, and I sometimes don't take all of that. My neurologist has recently started me on Nuvigil, and since that may work by itself, I have decided to taper myself off the Dexedrine to see if the Nuvigil may be all I need. So far, no problems. I agree with the comment that Dexedrine has an undeserved bad rep."

For ADHD "This medication is very good. I take it first thing in the morning, 2 capsules of 10 mg and one around noon. In exactly one hour, I feel that hit, dopamine increasing in my brain, me being able to focus on everything and multitask at one time. I was just diagnosed with ADHD. Before Dexedrine, I just could not concentrate on anything, it was so, so bad. But I can't explain in words the FLASH or hit you feel after one hour, it is tremendous. I feel so happy, everything I see, I see with happy eyes. Besides all the positive facts I mentioned, I really have to say it has severe side effects. The first day I took only a 10 mg capsule, after a few hours that it kicks off, I had an anxiety attack like I have never had in my life. I felt like my chest was going to explode, that feeling was so strong that I had to take Xanax. Besides that, I have problems falling asleep, some nights I don't even sleep at all. As well, my hands start shaking, and I feel disturbed and nervous."

For ADHD "I've been struggling with emotional/social numbness, lack of focus or drive, an intense caffeine addiction, procrastination, apathy, depression, an inability to improve my life, binge-eating, self-loathing, and even the seedlings of alcoholism, all connected to my severe ADHD. Been on a very high amount of Dexedrine for a couple of months now, and my life is completely different. My self-confidence skyrocketed, I'm able to go to a very drunk people-infested mosh pit and not have to get drunk to have a blast, I'm doing the most work I ever have, I'm focused and driven, I'm organized, I'm eating healthy, I'm realizing my worth and making breakthroughs about myself, and I'm ten times more empathetic and able to support my family and friends and girlfriend more than ever. This stuff truly changed my life. The only negatives are that I still have a caffeine addiction, which has given me very, very intense panic attacks. Also, insomnia. But nonetheless, I'd say 9.6/10."

For ADHD "I have ADHD and bulimia. I read through everyone's comments, and I couldn't agree more. I am a 21-year-old model living in New York City and suffered from chronic ADHD/ADD and bulimia. Ritalin would make me so jittery I couldn't even try to do anything. One hour of euphoria that led nowhere. (Focalin *is new* did the same thing, just paid more!) So they tried everything in every batch: Daytrana, Focalin, and Ritalin, then Vyvanse with Adderall IR or AddXR with ADD IR. Anyway, I looked up online and saw how Dexedrine is what makes up half of Adderall. I asked my doctor, he was like 'ehh,' but he went for it. I've been on it ever since. I think it is the most undercredited ADHD/stimulant medicine on the market. I have no anxiety and clean concentration!"

For ADHD "Wow. I have tried Ritalin, Adderall, and now Dexedrine. Let me tell you, this drug works the best. I don’t know why this drug doesn’t get prescribed more or as the first-line medication to try. To tell you the truth, I think Adderall should be banned. Adderall has Dextroamphetamine, which is Dexedrine, but here is where I think Adderall should be banned. Adderall also has Levoamphetamine, which gives you ungodly vasoconstriction. Levoamphetamine should actually be banned. There is no need to have Levoamphetamine and Dextroamphetamine in one pill. Adderall is like 3:1 with both Dextroamphetamine and Levoamphetamine. All Levoamphetamine does is raise your blood pressure and constrict your blood vessels. Dextroamphetamine doesn’t do this. Well, it does, but nowhere near like when I took Adderall. I feel calm on Dexedrine, and when I took Adderall at any dose, I felt like a crackhead. I believe that the Levo and Dextro combination does this, even my psychiatrist agrees with me to a certain extent."
