"I'm a recovering addict, and I had really bad panic disorders, anxiety, depression, and even harmful thoughts when I was cleaning up. I saw a psychiatrist, and they put me on all kinds of psych drugs. They didn't work at all, made it worse. And then my doctor put me on Dexedrine, and it all went away. It was amazing. I was also a crystal meth user, and I was a little apprehensive at first. I was 15 years clean at the time, now it's been 20 years, and great-no more anxiety, no more depression, no more harmful thoughts. I believe people that gravitate toward stimulants have a deficiency in serotonin. Because those sick drugs are supposed to be serotonin reuptake inhibitors. I don't think so, they don't take anything. I can also take what they say up to a month before they work. Well, they're supposed to give you serotonin, why wait a month? That's just my own personal idea about the lack of serotonin. They have methadone and Suboxone, so maybe they should try using Dexedrine for crystal meth users."

For ADHD "Been taking the 10 mg Spansule Dexedrine for 2 weeks now. Excellent focus and a lot more motivation than before. Minimal side effects after the first couple of days. No real come down for me. I also take 10 mg Cipralex at night with no issues. Spansule kicks in about an hour after I take it and starts to fade off about 4-5 hours later."

For ADHD "This is AMAZING!!! I don't think I've ever felt this good. Dexedrine makes me feel completely calm, clear-headed, and motivated. I used to be so tired and foggy-brained, and many days were lost to 'recovering' from, well, life. Now I feel like I can do anything I want. I can hardly believe it. I tried Ritalin first and found it to be rubbish - it gave me headaches, insomnia, and mild anxiety, and seemed very unpredictable in terms of effects too. Dexedrine is nothing like that. I have zero side effects - except for some interference with my period. I highly, highly recommend this miracle medication."

For ADHD "Well, this medication has worked VERY well for my ADHD! It helps me concentrate and makes my mood overall more lifted! I notice energy and a desire to do work and complete tasks instead of being a lazy couch potato like before. Side effects: anxiety, depersonalization, and derealization on this medication sometimes makes you feel like a robot! And heart rate goes up also! But it worked much better than Adderall. Adderall gave me bad anxiety and a higher heart rate! Much stronger and more positive mood from Dexedrine."

For ADHD "I have been on Dexedrine since 2nd grade, I am now 53. Dexedrine was available since the 60s, that's why I was put on it at the time. Adderall and Ritalin came out in the 90s, and as brand name marketing was intense, prescribers switched over to prescribing these medications instead of Dexedrine. Newer is not necessarily more effective or better. As the prescribing of Adderall and Ritalin became increasingly dominant, it became challenging to find pharmacies that carried Dexedrine in stock, often they would have to special order it, and this process would take several days. Due to this difficulty, my doctor persuaded me to try first Ritalin and then Adderall. In comparison to Dexedrine, I found these two newer medications not nearly as effective and unpleasant to take. If you've ever taken Adderall or Ritalin, they obviously work as stimulants, like coffee, but a lot less 'jittery'. To me, comparing Dexedrine to Adderall is like comparing Adderall to coffee: far less jittery. Try it."

For ADHD "I'm taking pharmacy technician courses right now, and I don't know how I could do it without Dexedrine. The course is compressed, and there is a ton of information to take in a short time. I can often tell if I've missed a dose, or it's near time for my noon dose, because I will just plain zone out. Docs tried me on Wellbutrin and Concerta, and those did nothing, so Dexedrine seems the way to go! Really depends on the individual though."

For ADHD "Hyperfocus (controlled, feel in control of my thoughts) - Anxiety decrease - focus increase - able to do tasks I otherwise wouldn't be able to do - normal hunger/not feeling nauseous after eating (I do become nauseous with most medications) - Feel as though I'm not alienated (I feel alienated like I'm dumb or something is wrong with me most of the time, which is not the case with dextroamphetamine/dexedrine tablets) - makes the anger and rage disappear - train of thought to any topic or task I choose (no more disturbing intrusive thoughts) - effects last entire 4-5 hour duration - helpful overall."

For ADHD "Been on it for 21 years, being diagnosed at 25. First thing...if you're a man and you're not getting your significant other pregnant...WATCH OUT!! They can finish the swimmers. Being on the same 50 mg can some days be fine or cause me to clench my teeth. It depends on proper eating and stress reduction. They used to give me huge energy to start, but now it's more focusability than anything. Don't get me wrong...these are not a cure for stopping from losing your keys."

For ADHD "I was on Adderall at 9, it worked okay. Then I was taken off treatment until the age of 19. I've been on it for a couple of weeks. I can tell that my focus is starting to get better, and I notice that when I do certain chores around the house, I do them to such depths and extremes."

For ADHD "I have been on Vyvanse, prescribed for over 8 years prior to taking Dexedrine, and it does have a plethora of side effects. Vyvanse caused intense anger and anxiety, and it made me feel different and just zombied out. Dexedrine, to me, is the cleaner version of Adderall and Vyvanse. It is not as intense as both of them and just seems a lot better."

For ADHD "Extremely beneficial and helpful to this day. Not only does it actually help me focus, therefore lowering my level of anxiety, I get so much more done, and I quite frankly do not notice unpleasant effects when it wears off. A fringe benefit is that it does suppress my appetite and I tend to overeat."

For Narcolepsy "I am at the maximum amount per day, 60 mg. It has helped to a certain extent. I do not need a nap to make it through a normal work day. I still have random sleep attacks when sitting, quiet, or inactive. It only lasts about 10 hours for me. (That is at the maximum allowable daily dosage)."

For ADHD "This med has been the most useful for me for my ADHD. Vyvanse didn't feel quite the same for me, but it might for you since it's the prodrug version of this. Adderall helped but made me feel cloudy-headed and physically overstimulated at the height of its effect. Dexedrine targets most of my issues; being able to shift focus, getting sidetracked less, completing non-stimulating tasks/chores, and drifting off in my own head mid-conversation less. It quiets my head so it's not constantly buzzing with random distractions. However, if I don't eat within 3 hours of taking it, I get intense neck pain which causes a bad headache, stiffness, and pain all day. It's kind of a bizarre side effect, but I should be eating in the morning anyway. Since this med does decrease my appetite, it's probably good that it has a built-in punishment system for if I neglect to feed myself, lol. But I would definitely recommend this med, especially if Adderall made you feel cloudy-headed or overstimulated."

"I've had daily debilitating depression for over twenty years. About ten years in, my doctor gave me Dexedrine. For a while, it allowed me to have some level of joy, but it changed over the years. It still lifts my mood, but only very lightly, so it takes me from hopeless to fighting. I'll take that. The bad part is it suppresses my cognitive abilities and vocabulary and memory. But what's the alternative, complete failure to function in any meaningful way? No, thank you. I take 30mg every 4-5 hours, 2 to 3 times a day. I try to take Excedrin Migraine to lessen the headaches and body pain Dexedrine causes. I wish I had a doctor that would prescribe me a strong benzo for the end of the day when I crash, but hey, that's habit-forming. Jeez, all these antidepressants are habit-forming. Effexor, for instance, if I stop taking it for one day, I get physically ill and get brain zaps. Anyway, God bless you. I hope you find peace."

For ADHD "Was on Dexedrine for 10 years. Loved it. Just stopped last month because I had tachycardia and an ectopic arrhythmia. Both started about 2 years ago, and I only recently had confirmed that both are non-existent when off of Dexedrine. Have been taking 30 mg/day. Switching to Strattera tomorrow, hoping it can provide all the benefits of Dexedrine without the heart issues!"

For ADHD "Hands down, the worst medication I've ever tried. My psychiatrist suggested trying a newer ADHD drug, but I was enamored by some of the reviews I read on here, so I persuaded him to prescribe me Dexedrine. Well, what a big mistake. I was given 10 mg of Dexedrine, and after two weeks of it working, it completely backfired. It completely ruined my cognitive abilities. I couldn't do simple math, my depth perception was off, and my time perception was off as well. I was constantly late to appointments. I had to write down everything on the calendar on my phone, otherwise, I would forget or think I had more time than I actually had. I would be careful with this medication. It might work for you, though."

For ADHD "It sort of worked for me. I have been using Dexedrine 20 mg, prescribed in two 10 mg pills. Before that, 15 mg, one pill. Before that, one 10 mg pill. A problem I've had is with how my body metabolizes it. Rather than a smooth and consistent maintenance of focus, I experience peaks and valleys of it. It takes effect after 45 min, then it lasts for about 1-2 hours before I get incredibly sleepy for 1-2 hours, then it takes effect again, then I get sleepy again, then it takes effect again. I've talked with my psyche, and with the 20 mg split I take the first dose, then the second 10 mg dose 45 minutes later, and this has mostly, but not completely, solved the issue. Also, (consistent with all of the stimulant medications I've tried, though) is that it stops having any effect after about 3-4 days of usage straight. So I need to calculate for a day or two where I can't take the medication in order to allow for it to work later. Side effects: dry mouth, less hunger, nervousness."

For ADHD "I have ADHD and mild-to-moderate anxiety. Dexedrine 20 mg (2 x 10 mg) taken in the morning allows me to focus for about 8 hours, but I experience negative side effects including increased anxiety, raised blood pressure, and difficulty sleeping. I used to experience moderate-to-severe depression at the end of the day when it would wear off, but I've been able to avoid this using buspirone 5 mg (taken once an hour for 4 hours starting 7.5 hours after I take the Dexedrine). Also, I take trazodone 12.5 mg before bed to help me sleep. Due to the side effects, I only take Dexedrine once or twice a week when I need to get lots of work done. Adderall made me more anxious, and methylphenidate (e.g., Ritalin) didn't help me."

"I have had multiple sclerosis for 45 yrs. I have been taking Dexedrine for 40 yrs. I am 67 yrs old. This med has been a lifesaver. It has really helped me with the fatigue due to MS. My Dr has me taking two 15mg capsules 2/day. I have had no serious side effects from this medicine. I wouldn't be without it. I tried the generic, and it was worthless. I had headaches all day, and I didn't want to move off the couch. I felt terrible. I'm lucky my insurance pays for the brand name because they are expensive!"

For Narcolepsy "I have had to deal with narcolepsy, ADHD, and sleep apnea since 16 years old till 66 years old. Dexedrine has been much more tolerated for me than Ritalin or Adderall. Ritalin has less tension, confusion, actions, and decisions. Dexedrine is far better but not as good as Nuvigil."

For Narcolepsy "I have never had a worse experience on a medication. After having limited success on modafinil, armodafinil, Sunosi, and Adderall, my doctor prescribed me this Dexedrine dose at 10 mg, and it is terrible. I go two- to three-day stretches without sleeping, have had the most debilitating anxiety of my entire life, and feel like I am going insane. Yes, I’m staying awake, but it has been the worst time of my entire life."

For ADHD "Dexedrine is okay! When I first took it, I was excited and hoped to feel something. I was instantly in a good mood, more focused, and patient. However, the come down off this drug is horrible. The depression and sadness start to come back, and it's just discouraging that only a medication can band-aid those emotions. I have felt overstimulated as well. I had a gastric bypass four years ago, so my doc said no XR, but he put me on four 10 mg a day, which I feel is too much. I become agitated, irritable, paranoid, panicky, crying, etc. I decreased it to two a day. I feel that this might be too strong of a stimulant for me. I want to try Adderall since it's cheaper on my insurance and it has less dex. We'll see what he says at my next visit."

For ADHD "As the title states, I had very high hopes for this medication as I have responded very well to name brand (Shire) Adderall XR in the past. The difference between name brand and generic Adderall is the combination ratio of dextro to levo. Name brand is 75:25 in favor of dextro, and generic is closer to 50:50. This caused me to believe I respond to name brand and not generic due to the dextro content. If you guys don't know, Dexedrine is 100% dextroamphetamine, which made me think I stumbled into a gold mine after being off Adderall for 2 years due to the fact they don't sell name brand where I live. Long story short, I took my first dose a few hours ago, and it does not have any effect. The dose I took is 15mg, which is the equivalent amount of dextro found in a 20mg Adderall, which I was prescribed in the past and worked so well. I gave it a 3 because even though it is not an effective medication, I am not feeling any negative side effects at the moment."

For ADHD "I was diagnosed with ADHD as a kid along with asthma. A previous drug was being used, however, it had to be stopped because of the review and side effects of being suicidal and doing things without worrying about the risk. Hard to explain... Anyways, ever since I started this drug, it has gone downhill. I have been using the drug for a very long time now, and to be honest, besides the tingling feeling I get sometimes using or taking a break from this drug, it doesn't help me at all. My parents think that it's me that has to control ADHD, but I can't, and this medicine isn't helping at all. I tried taking more dosage by myself, and it still didn't work. Don't recommend at all. Btw, I am 18 years old, soon 19."
