Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Got this for ADD and my chronic fatigue. It changed me. Grades in school went from 60s to 80s, I could actually focus long enough to plan my life and pay attention. Only problem I had was the tolerance. Although my dosage was raised and now I can take it regularly without feeling it, it made it really hard to sleep if I took it too late, and if the dosage is too high, or you are just starting, you get a really unpleasant buzz. Even though that buzz makes you super motivated and lets you get stuff done, it makes it really hard to relax and makes you more prone to panic attacks."

Dextroamphetamine for Drowsiness "There is no material in the side effects list that you may have a hard time with Novocaine. My dentist spent hours trying to figure out why he could not get me numb before he made the connection. Be forewarned that this is a potential problem. This drug, all in all, has improved the quality of my life drastically. Seven years and topped at 90 mg. I hit tolerance a long time ago, but it still does what it was designed to do. I am not looking for a high, I am looking for a life with alertness, and this medicine has given me that. I personally trust this older proven medication."

For Sexual Dysfunction, SSRI Induced "I was waking up and depressed until around 10:00. I had planned on taking my life many, many times but couldn't figure out the most polite way. Each morning, it was there. I knew if I could wait until around 10:00, I'd be okay, but it was getting old, quickly. I decided to get help, and I walked in the V.A., tears streaming down my cheeks, embarrassed that I had to get help. We had a discussion, and I asked if I could try to take what my daughter was taking: dextroamphetamine, because I was all over the place with my ADHD. We tried 10 milligrams and went to 20 but settled on 15. It works, and I'm okay. Erections with visuals (hey, don't judge), but the depression seems to be completely gone, and less ADHD symptoms."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I am 39 years old and have been suffering from ADD my whole life. It wasn't until recently that I finally figured out what it was. After trying Ritalin, which didn't agree with me, and Adderall XR, which made me irritable, anti-social, and too engaged, I read the reviews of this and decided to give it a whirl. I'm only on week 1, but compared to the others, I am MUCH more myself with no anxiety! Also, I am shocked at how low of a dose gets the job done. I am on 5 mg once daily around noon. You may think you need more, but start low and see how much changes right before your very eyes. You get plenty done and still wind down after 4 hours. I sleep great, and my appetite is only affected the first 3 hours. I didn't give it a 10 because of some memory issues."

For ADHD "Diagnosed with Inattentive/Hyperactive ADHD at the age of 27, and this was the first medication I tried. My whole life, I have been a stressed out, burnt out, insatiable over-achiever. One month in and I feel a genuine sense of calm for the first time in my whole life. No more impending sense of doom, and my anxiety/depression has almost disappeared. The absence of the inner rage demon at the smallest sound or sensory discomfort has really made a huge difference to my day-to-day life. The strangest side effect is that my taste in music has changed, and now I favor soft/slow jazz/classical, and my screen time has significantly reduced. I used to need CONSTANT stimulus (TV, Social Media, video games, high-sugar foods, 'achievement' etc.) just to get through the day, and now I just do not need or want these things anymore. I find myself content sitting with myself and being present, which pre-medication felt more like a torment than a moment of peace."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I take 15 mg three times a day along with Ritalin 20 mg three times a day, and I am so glad my doc found this combo! I'm 36 and extremely overweight, and I got the get up and go that I never had, and the help to keep my mind on very important things and people in my life, like my kids!"

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "By far the best medication I have tried for ADHD. It is great for someone who also has social anxiety or anxiety in general. With Ritalin, I had many negative side effects, one of which is anxiety. Dexedrine is great. I do not even need to take my clonazepam (Klonopin) during the day because Dexedrine is so smooth."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I had been taking Vyvanse close to a year with great success, but needed something I could gauge when I needed to dose and not take Vyvanse, which kept me awake for 12-13 hours. Switched to Dexedrine and went through 3 months' worth (all different manufacturers) of horrible generics. I finally got Zenzedi this last month, and it seems to work for maybe 45 minutes. This is not what I was expecting, did the formula change or something? It feels like I took a bad Adderall, to be honest. Generic Sandoz Adderall is more like Vyvanse than Zenzedi is, at least for me lately. 10 mg 2x a day. Has anyone else noticed an issue lately?"

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I was on Zenzedi for about 6 months. I loved it! I have only tried Ritalin for my ADD, and it made me psychotic, and once I stopped taking it, I was too scared to take anything else. Well, 10 years later, and sick of my ADD, I was prescribed this medication, and it worked! I also had no beginning side effects. The only complaint I have is how quickly it wore off, but it could be my own metabolism, and anyone else could be different. However, due to my new insurance, I am switching to Adderall XR. I'll write a comparison opinion when I begin taking it."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I began treatment for bipolar 2 years ago. It has been successful. I still had severe brain fog, impatience, and lethargy, though. The psych doc diagnosed ADHD on top of bipolar. Tried Vyvanse, Ritalin, and Dexedrine. Dex won for me. 10 mg in the am and 5 at lunch and dinner. Much more patient and clear-headed."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "It was a pain to get my Dexedrine prescription filled because most pharmacies don't carry it, and they have to order it. Compared to Adderall, Dexedrine is very calming since there's no levoamphetamine in the mix, just pure dextroamphetamine. Unfortunately, I was focusing on things that I wanted to do instead of the things I had to do (and what I worked on really made a difference). I would like to give it another try just to compare it to Adderall again."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Works well for my ADD, but DON'T ever mix with alcohol! I am an alcoholic who comes from an alcoholic background handed down several generations of my family tree. I take my Dex as prescribed (5 mg 3x daily, a small dose by choice compared to 45 mg 3x daily when I was younger and not in charge of my own health needs). But when I binge drank, I would always mix the alcohol with Dex, up to 50 mg a night so I could keep drinking. Lost many friends, a wife, and the respect of too many due to my actions, aggressions, combativeness, stances, and so on. Alcoholics, beware. I'm sober now and take it one day at a time. I still take my Dex but ONLY as prescribed. I am 35 and have taken it since age 12."

Dextroamphetamine for Narcolepsy "Dexedrine is great, aside from the increased anxiety. I currently take 90 mg daily - both the 5 mg tabs and the 15 mg spansules. I require two 20-min naps/day but will still have sleep attacks if I'm inactive. It may not sound overly great, but without Dexedrine, I'd never leave my bed/couch, as I fall asleep every 10 mins. So essentially, it does a world of difference."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Have gone from Adderall to Vyvanse to dextroamphetamine IR, and after 6 months on this, I can say it is by far the best. Same cost as the generic for the same quantity with my insurance, and I like the higher dosages since I take 40 mg/day. It has the consistency of Vyvanse with the duration of IR tablets."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I have ADHD as well as binge eating. This helps me to not make impulsive decisions and I really can think a lot clearer. It really does increase the dopamine because I no longer have that intense urge to eat junk food and buy nice clothes. I can just focus better and I am not procrastinating everything. I used to procrastinate basic tasks like showering or brushing my teeth. It feels so good knowing I'm not lazy but just neurodivergent. And I'm so grateful for this medication. I'm on 10mg twice a day."

For ADHD "I have been taking dex on and off for 21 years. Since I was young, I lived in a haze. I didn't have the drive to undertake the most basic activities. I was also depressed. This haze stayed with me until I was 15 years old, when I was first prescribed dex. My mood went from sullen to elevated, and my ability to focus was there for the first time in my life. The school term that I commenced dex, I duxed my year in chemistry. I am very happily married with 1 happy child so far. I take 7.5 mg per day. I have no sugar or gluten in my diet. A point of this advice is to take holidays from dex and to take it with acetyl-L-carnitine as it inhibits any cortisol overproduction, a side effect of dex. You will likely be very grateful for this synergy."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I just switched from Daytrana to this because the Daytrana started giving me some nasty health side effects I couldn't live with anymore. Xelstrym, however, was so smooth and it crept through my skin with a small burn but lasting effects. I have severe ADHD and get tired easily when I take my ADHD meds, so I was pretty tired after 3-4 hours of applying it. When I say tired, I just mean my mind wasn't racing about 100 billion things, and I could actually sit down and think about one topic, like a normal human, without babbling myself through 90 different topics before I am done speaking. I still have yet to take it off (at about 5 hours in), but I wanted to leave my thoughts here... Always take breaks from these meds, guys, because they do mess with your dopamine, serotonin, and other happy brain chemicals. If you don't take a break, you will have a lot harder time stopping these meds when you will eventually have to."

For Fatigue "As per the last review, I’ve also suffered from CFS for 10 years. Unfortunately, it was extremely difficult to find medical providers who believed my struggles and were willing to look outside the square! I was almost fully couch-bound for 5 years, which resulted in losing my self-built successful business, my house, and my independence! I’d been trialed on multiple useless medications, which led to nothing but hideous side effects and no relief! Finally, I found an empathetic doctor who understood my frustration and debilitating struggles and prescribed this stimulant! It has been an absolute game changer in terms of my cognitive functioning and has allowed me to get some quality of life back and the confidence to drive safely. Without this medication, I think I would have probably given up. For anyone with persistent chronic fatigue issues, this medication is absolutely worth trying! It’s not a cure, but it has most certainly been life-changing for myself."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "My experience is limited since I have only been on this medication for a few days. I am a medical resident, diagnosed with ADHD at 32. Got sick and tired of my mediocre performance at work. Tried Strattera, Viibryd, and Wellbutrin, nothing worked. Just started on Dexedrine 5 mg 2-3 times a day. My first day on it, I studied all day until midnight. I was so motivated, I felt great, on top of the world, I was so driven. I noticed an immediate difference in my performance at work, and it made me nicer, less cynical. The bad thing was insomnia, teeth clenching, some nausea, decreased appetite, and the drop in my mood once it wore off. I am worried about intolerance, which is driving up my anxiety level."

For Fatigue "Have been using Aurobindo generic immediate release dextroamphetamine sulfate 5 mg tabs, 2 in the am, for 10 months. Worked beautifully, more focus, more energy, more motivation to accomplish tasks. No noted side effects. Last refill June 2020, was a completely different experience. Seven days of early morning nightmares, no energy, fatigue, felt terrible. Reported to physician, pharmacist, and to FDA. Looking for an independent lab to get this tested and find out what happened. Pharmacy tells me that the other manufacturers of this generic drug are on back order and not currently available in my region in the US. Quality of life has taken a huge hit without this medication."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I have struggled with ADD for years and was put on a moderate dosage of Ritalin in high school. But it gave me anxiety like you wouldn't believe. I ignored my ADD after high school and started Dexedrine in college. What a difference! It helps me to focus much better and gives me the energy to finish what I start. My procrastination has never been lower. I only give it a 9 because I sometimes need to make myself focus when the meds are an hour or two from wearing off."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I take the 30s, and the name brand and generic are the exact same pill from the same production lines as the name brand. I was told by Azure Pharmaceuticals. The difference in cost per pill is 8 dollars vs. 7 for the generic. I have had to take the 15s due to the 30s being out of stock, and the 15 mg is the exact same pill, there is no difference at all. So I'm not sure why people say they are different. It's the most effective dose for me but requires taking them four times a day due to me being a rapid metabolizer of amphetamine-based stimulants. I was on the original brand name Dexedrine until it was discontinued in 2006 by GlaxoSmithKline. This isn't quite as helpful as Dexedrine 5 mg tabs used to be, but a close second."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Taken for 8 years and worked great. But in 2020, original manufacturer Wilshire was bought by Arbor Pharmaceuticals, and the original 10 mg was no longer available. Arbor changed the color from pink to yellow-brown, and it doesn't work. Recently, was able to get pink 10 mg only in the quantity of 30 jars (100 counts no longer available), and though it looks exactly like the earlier 10 mg (same color and script), it doesn't work near as well. It no longer gives me energy and takes 2.5-5 hours to kick in vs. the previous version that kicked in immediately. The current 10 mg pink version, which looks like the pre-2021 version, doesn't work near as well as the original, but it is much less expensive. I believe this new 10 mg pink Zenzedi is a cheaper generic version that they are passing off as the original. The original 10 mg was much more expensive than the current version, which looks identical, and the original 15 mg is also much more expensive."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I have currently been taking Dexedrine spansules for 16 years, 90 mg a day. ADHD had ruined my life up until I was 36 years old. Now, all the standard symptoms are under control and have been since I started the medication. I would personally check with a good doctor if you are suffering with this disorder."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "The generic for this med didn't work at all, however, the name brand (for some reason) is amazing! It has changed my life after so many other meds have failed. I am able to study, take notes, and remember what I've read now. The only reason I did not give it a 10 is that I am having some issues with insomnia. I'm sure that is related to the timing and strength of my last dose of the day, however, it will be adjusted. It can be expensive, however, after trying everything else and nothing else working, I would rather pay for this than deal with awful symptoms all day."
