Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I absolutely love Dexedrine! It doesn't give me the crash that Adderall has, and it really keeps me focused on the tasks at hand. I was able to thoroughly apply for a gig and landed it, and I wonder if I would have on the alternatives. I hear they're trying to rid Dexedrine to switch over to Vyvanse, but since that drug has no generic and the two are about 99% similar, I'm guessing it is more for profit reasoning. I'm telling everyone to switch over, you won't regret it. 1 15mg er/day should be the max for those considering switching. I read somewhere on here a doctor prescribed about 100mg, which is too much and the reasoning for your manic state. Go for trusted generic brands like Sandoz and Mallinckrodt. Teva is the worst."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "The most reliable and consistent ADHD CNS I've ever taken! Their new instant release tablets they came out with recently are really great. Instead of taking the usual four salts (Adderall), you have one (Dextroamphetamine Sulfate). My grades and focus went up about 30 percent after taking these on the right dose. I've been struggling with ADHD since I was 6 years old. Also, I take 30 mg x 3 per day. I always joke with friends that dexy makes me feel sexy."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I take two 20 mg a day (one in the morning and one in the afternoon). Details: - 20 y/o female - diagnosed with ADD for 4 years - tried Adderall (worked decently, bad crashes) and methylphenidate (nausea, motion sickness, didn't help ADD) - other conditions: severe depression, OCD PROS: - extremely helpful, like night and day - no jitter, tremor, etc. - no crash CONS: - reduced appetite - *have to special order through Target pharmacy because most places don't keep it in stock."

Dextroamphetamine for Narcolepsy "Have been taking Dexedrine from the days of SKF, and before. Now in my seventies, a different pharmacist gave me a generic version from Activa Co., which seemed to have no proper drug in it. I mostly felt cheated because there was no helpful effect. I felt lousy and slept away 3 months of my life, having no energy. I could not function normally as before. I called my pharmacist to report the medication was not working, and the spansules weren't even the same color or size. He said they are a cheaper brand. I told him I don't mind paying more for the proper medication I have taken daily for more than 50 years. I refuse to be abused in this way, and will take my next script back to my previous family pharmacist."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I am a 24-year-old female diagnosed in my 20s with adult ADHD. I spent my entire childhood unable to focus on tasks, finish anything I started, behave, and sit still in the classrooms. I scraped by barely with Cs and Ds in grade school. Eventually, focusing became so hard to do with people around that I had my parents homeschool me. Fast forward to now, I am currently in my first semester of college, and I have a 4.0 GPA. This medicine works wonders. I normally cannot function at all. I am disorganized and always have racing thoughts. On ProCentra, I am calm, focused, and organized. I finish tasks and manage my time better. I take 10 mg a day, oral solution. This medication is also covered by my insurance, with only a $10 co-pay. Love it!"

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "The patch burns for the first hour it's on, then it goes away quite quickly. I feel the effects start after 30 minutes and it lasts the whole nine hours I keep the patch on plus another hour or two after it's off. The effects are much smoother and with less peaks and valleys than Adderall XR. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with ADHD but especially for people with stomach issues since the patch bypasses the GI tract."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I have a positive experience. I was running around with anxiety, depression, and panic attack. I was on all kinds of antidepressants, then my doctor put me on Dexedrine, the best thing that ever happened to me."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Been prescribed this for 6 months now, 15 mg twice a day, needed to boost me up to 30 mg twice a day, but no side effects. Feel great. My local CVS now has it all the time for me. My insurance covers it. I pay ten bucks for 60 and have gotten off all my bipolar meds and depression meds due to this med. Love it."

Dextroamphetamine for Narcolepsy "I’ve tried so many medications for my narcolepsy with cataplexy and extreme EDS! Nuvigil and Provigil do not work for me. Focalin made me extremely angry and anxious. Ritalin just quit working. Vyvanse did nothing. Sunosi did even less. Adderall worked great, but I have a wheat intolerance, and the generic I was using caused a major flare-up for me. And the list could continue… I discovered Zenzedi and asked my sleep doc about it. She hadn’t heard of it, but we gave it a try. After almost two years, I’ve only had to increase my dose once (from 20 mg twice daily to 25 mg twice daily). This stuff is magical for me. It keeps me awake with very few side effects and no crash. I take my doses about 5-6 hours apart. I’ve always been a runner, but this medication and a pandemic have allowed me to run virtually every day, which I believe also helps my EDS. I cannot take the generic version."

Dextroamphetamine for Narcolepsy "I was diagnosed with narcolepsy at 18 years old. I have been taking Dexedrine for a little over a year now. I recommend using Dexedrine because it does a great job of keeping you awake without the nasty side effects that other medicines bring, like Adderall. Dexedrine has really changed my life. I am able to confidently drive and do well at work without having to worry about falling asleep. I really wish I had this in high school. For all the younger people out there with narcolepsy, ask your doctor to put you on Dexedrine, it's less expensive than Adderall and Vyvanse (Vyvanse didn't work for me, I fell asleep several times on it). The side effects I find with it are sometimes it gives me mood swings, most of the time, it's a feeling of optimism."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I'm 38. I've been taking Dexedrine now for my fourth time for a month. I was diagnosed at 21 in 1995. I tried Ritalin for a couple of weeks and stopped. I went untreated for a few more years. I went to my doctor about my wild mood swings and EXTREME emotions and told him about Ritalin. He said I should try Dexedrine. Instantly, it did wonders. If a coworker said something that would have offended me and got me bent out of shape, it just rolled off my back. I felt great and inspired. It didn't affect my sex drive at all."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I've taken many different medications for my ADHD over the years: Adderall, Ritalin, Strattera, Concerta, and Vyvanse. Dexedrine is the most effective with almost no side effects. I only experienced slight appetite suppression with it, and it never affected my mood negatively, nor did I ever feel 'cracked out' on it. I now take Vyvanse because the slow release works better with another medication I take; however, I would strongly recommend Dexedrine to anyone who is looking for an effective treatment for ADHD."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "The amphetamine molecule has two mirror images of itself. Dexedrine is only one of those images, whereas Adderall is both. However, Dexedrine is cheaper and just as tried and true as Adderall. Some Dexedrine generic tablets are scored and come in doses as low as 5 mg, giving you the ideal opportunity to discuss proper individual dosing with your doctor. When I was a kid, my doctor had me on too high of a dose. Now I take Dexedrine with my breakfast and don't run into any problems with one cup of coffee. Some of the therapeutic properties of Dexedrine diminish, but the core CNS activity stays pretty reliable at the same dose in my experience. I strongly recommend monitoring your kid's prescription bottle. Sometimes smart kids can make mistakes."

Dextroamphetamine for Narcolepsy "I have been taking one 10 mg spansule and one 5 mg tablet in the morning and the same dose at lunchtime for over ten years (since I was diagnosed with narcolepsy). It has been a lifesaver for me. It keeps me alert while driving. I was told by several doctors over the years to STOP taking it because I would need more and more of it as time went on. My dose has always been the same, and I sometimes don't take all of that. My neurologist has recently started me on Nuvigil, and since that may work by itself, I have decided to taper myself off the Dexedrine to see if the Nuvigil may be all I need. So far, no problems. I agree with the comment that Dexedrine has an undeserved bad rep."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "This medication is very good. I take it first thing in the morning, 2 capsules of 10 mg and one around noon. In exactly one hour, I feel that hit, dopamine increasing in my brain, me being able to focus on everything and multitask at one time. I was just diagnosed with ADHD. Before Dexedrine, I just could not concentrate on anything, it was so, so bad. But I can't explain in words the FLASH or hit you feel after one hour, it is tremendous. I feel so happy, everything I see, I see with happy eyes. Besides all the positive facts I mentioned, I really have to say it has severe side effects. The first day I took only a 10 mg capsule, after a few hours that it kicks off, I had an anxiety attack like I have never had in my life. I felt like my chest was going to explode, that feeling was so strong that I had to take Xanax. Besides that, I have problems falling asleep, some nights I don't even sleep at all. As well, my hands start shaking, and I feel disturbed and nervous."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I've been struggling with emotional/social numbness, lack of focus or drive, an intense caffeine addiction, procrastination, apathy, depression, an inability to improve my life, binge-eating, self-loathing, and even the seedlings of alcoholism, all connected to my severe ADHD. Been on a very high amount of Dexedrine for a couple of months now, and my life is completely different. My self-confidence skyrocketed, I'm able to go to a very drunk people-infested mosh pit and not have to get drunk to have a blast, I'm doing the most work I ever have, I'm focused and driven, I'm organized, I'm eating healthy, I'm realizing my worth and making breakthroughs about myself, and I'm ten times more empathetic and able to support my family and friends and girlfriend more than ever. This stuff truly changed my life. The only negatives are that I still have a caffeine addiction, which has given me very, very intense panic attacks. Also, insomnia. But nonetheless, I'd say 9.6/10."

For Fatigue "I suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and have been taking this medicine for about 7 years now. It gave me my life back. I used to be so tired that I couldn't get out of bed or participate in life. The only problem is I have grown tolerant to it and am at the maximum dosage, so I don't get as much energy from it as I used to. But I couldn't function or live without it."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I have ADHD and bulimia. I read through everyone's comments, and I couldn't agree more. I am a 21-year-old model living in New York City and suffered from chronic ADHD/ADD and bulimia. Ritalin would make me so jittery I couldn't even try to do anything. One hour of euphoria that led nowhere. (Focalin *is new* did the same thing, just paid more!) So they tried everything in every batch: Daytrana, Focalin, and Ritalin, then Vyvanse with Adderall IR or AddXR with ADD IR. Anyway, I looked up online and saw how Dexedrine is what makes up half of Adderall. I asked my doctor, he was like 'ehh,' but he went for it. I've been on it ever since. I think it is the most undercredited ADHD/stimulant medicine on the market. I have no anxiety and clean concentration!"

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Wow. I have tried Ritalin, Adderall, and now Dexedrine. Let me tell you, this drug works the best. I don’t know why this drug doesn’t get prescribed more or as the first-line medication to try. To tell you the truth, I think Adderall should be banned. Adderall has Dextroamphetamine, which is Dexedrine, but here is where I think Adderall should be banned. Adderall also has Levoamphetamine, which gives you ungodly vasoconstriction. Levoamphetamine should actually be banned. There is no need to have Levoamphetamine and Dextroamphetamine in one pill. Adderall is like 3:1 with both Dextroamphetamine and Levoamphetamine. All Levoamphetamine does is raise your blood pressure and constrict your blood vessels. Dextroamphetamine doesn’t do this. Well, it does, but nowhere near like when I took Adderall. I feel calm on Dexedrine, and when I took Adderall at any dose, I felt like a crackhead. I believe that the Levo and Dextro combination does this, even my psychiatrist agrees with me to a certain extent."

Dextroamphetamine for Narcolepsy "Dexedrine was very helpful in treating my narcolepsy. It is dependable without making me nervous. I am able to have a better attention span, too! I can sit confidently at my desk or be in social situations and have confidence that I will not be falling asleep while someone is talking to me again! Dexedrine is a great medicine for narcolepsy."

Dextroamphetamine for Narcolepsy "Along with narcolepsy, I've also been diagnosed with ADHD. I have been taking Dexedrine for the last 4 years. At first, it was 5 mg tablets, which worked for a couple of months. As soon as my dose was increased to 10 mg spansules a day, my life has been so much easier since then. I can actually concentrate on one thing without wanting to quit in the middle and take a nap. Many side effects, including dry mouth almost every day, heart pounding, loss of appetite leading to weight loss, muscles twitching, and severe tiredness if I suddenly stop taking it."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "My 15-year-old son, who has inattentive ADHD, was taking Adderall since 7th grade. He is now in 10th. For the longest time, he has been having anger issues, he is easily irritated by other students talking in class, noise on the bus, and his 7-year-old sister. I was desperately searching online for meds to help with anger with ADHD and ASP and found this site. Reading all the comparisons of Adderall and Dexedrine, others having the same situation and most improving on the Dex, I hoped that his problem was the Adderall. Went to the doctor, told her all of the above. She seemed a little skeptical about it but was willing to give it a try. I don't want to jinx myself or my son, but so far, so good, it even helped my sister with homework."

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "My daughter is now nine and has been on Dexedrine for about four and a half years. I know about the med from my little brother, and it worked for him. My daughter's doctors wanted to try all the new stuff, not one worked, so once again, I said put her on Dexedrine. Finally, after about a year, they put her on it, and she is doing great on a low dose. So if you have tried the others, go old school and use Dexedrine, it works :)"

Dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I used Ritalin for many years before realizing it had little or no effect on me. I think the placebo effect applied not only to me, but also to my parents and teachers. Upon finding out that it's quite common for some patients to have their medication switched 2-3 times before finding one that works, I decided to try Adderall (which worked amazingly, but gave me insomnia), Concerta (which didn't work on me, since it's basically the same as Ritalin), and finally settled on Dexedrine, which I don't know how I ever lived without. Of all the ADD medications I tried, it was head and shoulders above the rest as far as effectiveness and had the fewest side effects (which were barely noticeable and disappeared after a couple of weeks)."

Dextroamphetamine for Narcolepsy "Helps a great deal with daytime sleepiness, which I had all my adult life until Dexedrine. No side effects at 5 to 7.5 mg a day. At 10 mg sometimes anxiety or tension, but not always. No rebound effect or depression if I stop taking it. Not the dangerous drug some people would have you think."
