For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I highly recommend adding a bio-identical to a Premarin regimen. I began experiencing overactive bladder and recurrent UTIs. My PCP did not recommend an OBGYN until I was having the UTIs and wanted a compounded prescription. My dosage was played with or changed many times without doing any blood work by my PCP. Don't think your PCP knows what they're doing. Get in touch with a doctor who works with a compounding pharmacy that specializes in hormone replacement."

For Oophorectomy "In 1971, I had surgery and was put on 1.25 Premarin and told I must take it for life. Now, in the year 2009, looking back on all, I have to say I wish I had refused the surgery and didn't take Premarin. They didn't tell us about the possible side effects in those days, told only we wouldn't understand. I reported side effects to doctors, who did nothing. My huge stomach is finally beginning to shrink after being off Premarin for years."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I have been taking this drug for 8 months. It was helping at first, but the hot flushes are coming back more frequently now, and I'm tearing up a lot lately. I had bloods done and asked if I could take a higher dosage because the test showed I'm definitely going through the change. She said no, as it would increase my chance of breast cancer. For Atrophic Vaginitis "I was prescribed Premarin vaginal cream to use for 2 weeks prior to my pap. I had a total hysterectomy 9 months ago. I experienced severe acid stomach from this medicine. I have a history of stomach acid, so I didn't put the 2 together. I took my usual meds, avoided food that could trigger acid, but to no avail. I suffered for 5 days of severe acid stomach until I decided to stop the cream that night. The following day, my stomach was still sore but not acidic. I woke up with a headache. I didn't think the cream would affect me this way since its effects are limited to the vaginal area. I was wrong. I can confirm that my acid stomach was due to Premarin vaginal cream."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I used this cream for one month. I had to stop because it made my breast hurt so bad. I have a history of lumps in my breast, so, of course, when I found out this cream increases your chance for breast cancer, I had to stop. Will not use again."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "Experienced menopause at an early age, had extreme menstrual problems from the beginning starting at about age 8. I am told after going through much menstrual problems my whole life, I have several fibroids. Hoping that after menopause they would naturally shrink. Mine grew and cause me extreme pain. Hormone therapy has relieved this pain. However, side effects I think cause me anxiety, and I cry easily. When I try to cut back, I only take it twice a week, the pain comes back, which is severe. I cannot stop taking it, but the cost is almost $300 for the prescription, as I have no insurance for this. I noticed in the comments no one else mentions it used for this problem, does anyone know?"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Was put on 1.25 mg for the constant bleeding my Nexplanon implant caused me. It didn't work and made me so sick! I am a 23-year-old mother of 2. Prior to Nexplanon and Premarin, I had never used any kind of hormonal medicine. For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I just started Premarin 0.625. It works, but I feel I need a higher mg, because it works for only 4 to 5 hours. Then the burning comes back. It is working. Hope my doctor can adjust the dose. Ladies, Premarin dose is the key. Dose and strength are different for all of us. Don’t give up, work with your doctor :)"

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I was given this to help with vaginal atrophy that resulted in painful UTI-like symptoms and painful sex. By the third week, I got limited relief from those symptoms, but had debilitating dizziness and horrible hot flashes. This stuff took me from having had a handful of hot flashes in my entire life to 5 or 6 a night. Not taking it anymore."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I've been taking this for the past 15 years and haven't had any problems. I have an annual check-up, and so far, there haven't been any concerns. I did have a urinalysis done for a quarterly blood pressure check-up, and there was a detection of blood in my urine. Not sure if it's a result of taking the Premarin, but I made an appointment to go back to the doctor to follow up in 3 months."

For Oophorectomy "Unnecessary oophorectomy performed 2000, age 50, still having periods. Hysterectomy too, due to fibroids. Now discover that it's possible to remove fibroids, leaving womb intact! Suffering terribly from symptoms, given 1 mg of Premarin. Over three years, I started with severe headaches resulting in projectile vomiting! I was working at the time, so came off it entirely. No good! I tried different drugs, given Climaval, fantastic! Felt driven, confident, marvelous. Hair and skin glowing again. So, MHRA in the UK removed this drug from the market. I tried many more, I am placed on Premarin 0.3, which makes me feel nauseous, appetite affected as a result, and have arthritic pain. However, I stick it out as, mentally, I don’t feel too bad. The sickness fades, I am now stuck with bloating, flatulence, which is noisy and uncontrollable. Why aren’t side effects removed from these drugs?"

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "It's been two nights since I took the first dose of vaginal cream (1/2 gram) for vaginal pain. Since taking it, I have developed terrible anxiety, felt spacey all day, had a headache, and had trouble sleeping. My reflux, which was under control with Pepcid, has worsened. My doctor does not think these are side effects of the medication, but I do not believe that. Maybe the side effects will get better after more doses, but I am reluctant to continue using Premarin."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I began Premarin cream a month ago, using a pea-sized amount twice weekly. It does help with perimenopause symptoms. My estrogen got very low, I ended up with prolapses, dryness, sweating, melasma, facial hair, acne, water retention, and mood swings. So, I was given the cream to help with burning and prolapse. My concern is that I still have regular menstruation, and no progesterone was given to me with this. The sweats and burning are improving, but all other symptoms are worse! Especially acne. I’m wondering if it’s estrogen dominance, even though the estrogen is low, but the doctors dismiss these concerns, and nobody will repair the class three prolapse until it’s all the way out."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "Doc prescribed it, but asked her to switch to Estrace and have good results. Y'all do realize that Premarin is a shortened version of Pregnant Mare Urine, which is what it's made from? They take large (most commonly Belgium Draft Horses) and confine them in small stalls for their 11-month gestation with their tails tied up and catheters on to harvest their urine. Female foals are cycled back into the program. Males are useless, so sold off to auction houses, some are lucky to get purchased by rescues, others are sold to end up as horse meat in other countries. The mares are bred again once they've foaled to continue the cycle. Ironic that a drug developed to help post-productive human females is derived from horrific treatment of female horses during their productive years. It is an awful life. Please find an alternative."
