For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I was given Premarin for hot flashes and vaginal irritation from vaginal dryness. It helped with my sex drive. I still have vaginal irritation and dryness from time to time. Now I'm wondering if I have a yeast infection because I have some burning. I've only been on it for one month. I suffer from depression and all this has caused me to lose weight, about 40 lbs. My night sweats have improved but during the day they are bad. I don't know what is going on with this vaginal irritation. It's the worst. I'm 47. I'm irritated and moody and get annoyed quickly. My poor husband doesn't know what to do. I've changed my soap and detergents. I'm scared. My mind is all over and I forget things. That's not me at all. Any advice."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I had a hysterectomy in 1998. I had a horrible 2 years prior with night sweats, mood swings (huge swings), irritability. Then after my hysterectomy, I started taking Premarin 1.25. I have been on it ever since. For me, it is a lifetime therapy that, quite honestly, I cannot be without. I forgot to take them once for 2 weeks. I went into such a rage and cried until I realized I had forgotten to get it filled. NEVER AGAIN. In my 50s, my hot flashes no longer exist, my mood is even most of the time, and I enjoy the physical side of a relationship more than I did when I was younger."

For Osteoporosis "I started taking Premarin 1.25 mg when I lost my ovaries at the age of 28 to endometriosis. That was 33 years ago. My symptoms were lack of focus and energy. Within a week or two, I was back to my normal self with the exception of the mood swings I'd had ever since puberty. Several years ago, my GYN said there was an alert about Premarin and I would have to wean myself off of them. I went down to 1/4 of what I was taking within 7 months. I was taking large doses of ibuprofen for over 25 years for inflammation in my back. When the Premarin was decreased and the ibuprofen was taken down, I developed extreme arthritic swelling in some of my joints. I was put back on the Premarin immediately and told to never get off."

For Hypoestrogenism "I suffered from endometriosis after my 1st born baby girl, 1980 (natural birth). Treatment from South Africa's fertility specialist (1983-1989) helped me through x 3 miscarriages and hopelessness. Eventually, I fell pregnant; cesarean baby girl, 1988, and my son was born in 1989. Still suffered endometriosis. My son was 3 days old when I had a hysterectomy done; left ovaries intact and put me on Premarin; weakest dose. Over the years, changed to 1.25 mg, which I've used for the past 11 years. Never had side effects EXCEPT a fair shade skin blemish on my chin. I've remained slim/trim, yet I've lived a healthy, active lifestyle. NOW, however -- I'm now 61 and no clue whether to stop using Premarin. I did for 2/3 months but had hot flushes & strong mood swings. Google info warns of danger to health if taken longer than 10 years. I've taken it NOW FOR NEARLY 30 years! ANY ADVICE / must I stop?? Love to hear of anyone else's experiences in a similar situation."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I began Premarin cream a month ago, using a pea-sized amount twice weekly. It does help with perimenopause symptoms. My estrogen got very low, I ended up with prolapses, dryness, sweating, melasma, facial hair, acne, water retention, and mood swings. So, I was given the cream to help with burning and prolapse. My concern is that I still have regular menstruation, and no progesterone was given to me with this. The sweats and burning are improving, but all other symptoms are worse! Especially acne. I’m wondering if it’s estrogen dominance, even though the estrogen is low, but the doctors dismiss these concerns, and nobody will repair the class three prolapse until it’s all the way out."
