Ciprofloxacin for Prostatitis "30-day prescription up to 60. After the first week of mild nausea and mild diarrhea, I developed a weird tightness in my right hip, severe tennis elbow, and weird pain/headache behind my left eye for 2-3 days, bloating, some nights unable to sleep due to insomnia and tremors/weird body vibrations. Mornings were hell due to my coffee drinking and the foggy brain. Do not drink coffee while taking this! 3 weeks after stopping, I still have some prostatitis symptoms but have greatly improved. However, the side effects from the med of muscle tightness, brain fog, foot pain, hip pain, back tightness, lack of appetite, and fatigue still remain but seem to be subsiding a bit. I wish the docs would explain the meds they prescribe, but I don't think they really know!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "OMG!!! I'm being treated for what they think is a UTI (I'm convinced it is a kidney infection) and started on Bactrim Saturday, was doubled over Tuesday, so I went back to the Dr. They wrote a script for Cipro. Do not take this drug!! One dose and in 20 minutes my hands and feet started tingling, I broke out in a pure sweat, my wrists and ankles started to hurt like heck, and I was having involuntary movements in bed. 13 hours later I'm still tingling. $100 down the drain, but I'm not putting up with these side effects as I have read they can be permanent. I hope only one dose doesn't ruin me forever."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Took this med along with phenazopyridine, and after 4 days had no problems so far. As soon as I started to take it, the pain, chills, and burning all went away. What a relief! I seem to get urinary tract infections at 3-4 a.m. when you can't go to the office, so I asked for a refill on both. Now, all I have to do is keep it handy because knowing me, I'll get it again next year. I'm going to try the cranberry pills for urinary health and see if I can avoid taking meds in the future."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was prescribed 500 mg, twice a day for UTI during 7 days. Pain/urgency/burning was gone on day 1. Day 2 and 3 went pretty smooth, too... just a little nauseous... but I figured that I was taking the pill with an empty stomach. Day 4 I was good, almost convinced I was 100% until day 5... I’m not nauseous anymore, however, from my flanks to my neck, oh boy, I feel really uncomfortable. Back/muscle "pain". Stiff neck. My back pops all the time, so do my knees. Reading these comments made me feel a little better, though, because it seems like I’m not the only one. I’m on day 6, and I just can’t wait until Friday so I’ll be done! 4 more pills to go and finally FREE! Overall, Cipro works well!"

For Bronchitis "I will never take Cipro again. I took my first dose and was fine. Then I took the second pill after dinner. I woke up in the middle of the night with the worst pain from my hip to my knees. I can't sit still just from the pain being so bad. I do not recommend this to anyone. My pharmacist said it usually only happens in very young children or closer to old age. I'm 26, and this is the worst pain I have ever felt. DO NOT TAKE THIS!!"

Ciprofloxacin for Kidney Infections "Don’t take this. I’ve been taking it for three days, and I can’t sleep, I’m in pain, my Achilles tendons hurt. My legs have pins and needles, and they are extremely restless. My heartbeat is irregular and fast. My mental health has plummeted. I don’t know what to do. I can’t take this for five more days, I have to stop. I just want these side effects to be over, this is a nightmare."

For Bladder Infection "I had to go to the doctor yesterday with urgency. I was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection and vaginosis all at the same time, and probably herpes as well. I haven't rated this yet because I just started the treatment. I have to take them every 12 hours for 7 days. I really hope it relieves by tomorrow, this is the worst pain ever. I wouldn't desire this to anyone. It is living hell, unfortunately. I can't even walk straight because of how bad it is. I've been crying like never before. The only way I noticed it hurts less to pee for me is when I am in the shower, inclined forward. Like I said, hopefully, tomorrow the itching and burning go away!"

Ciprofloxacin for Prostatitis "I was prescribed Cipro for 45 days to combat a prostate infection. I had to stop taking it after about 40 days because I developed a dull pain with spasm in the kidney area. Laid awake the last few days with an odd headache and because of that discomfort. I can't attribute this change in health to anything but the Cipro. Deploying in 30 days, so no time to do testing. Hoping this will go away."

For Salmonella Gastroenteritis "27-year-old female. I was prescribed this drug, ciprofloxacin, yesterday and took my first dose this morning. After one pill, I had muscle pain and weakness, pain and popping of my tendons in my feet, ankles, hands, and shoulders. Neuropathic symptoms, trouble walking, and panic started almost immediately. I am just hoping that this goes away. I’m so glad I only took one pill. I would not recommend this to ANYONE. I have never in my life had a bad reaction to any drug until Cipro. Currently afraid to get out of bed due to my popping tendons and the anxiety I have wondering if I’ll be able to walk normally again or if this is permanent. 0/10 Please, please, please take something else."

For Kidney Infections "I cannot work anymore. The pain in my feet and especially my heel is excruciating. I get dizzy spells. I have constant headaches. I get dizzy. My vision is cloudy on occasions. I have a flash of light in the right corner of my eye when I look far right, then start to look left. I can no longer work. I can't hardly walk. I used to do heavy labor type jobs, like carrying 80-pound bags of salt. My life is pretty much gone. I feel worthless because I can no longer work. God have mercy on the people who gave me this medicine."

For Prostatitis "I had an allergic reaction to Cipro in which my patella tendons started burning, in which I started having knee pain, joints cracking, and pain in my tendons. I think what most people don’t realize is that this isn’t normal side effects for most people. I most recently got diagnosed with EDS, which is very underdiagnosed and is a connective tissue disorder. All fluoroquinolones have an affinity for connective tissue, which will exacerbate any underlying connective tissue disorder. I’m 40 years old and never had any issues until taking Cipro. If you have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, you may not even know it until taking Cipro or any alone, but taking quinolones should be a last resort for anyone with EDS. It is an inheritable disease. I was only on Cipro for 5 days."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Never take ciprofloxacin, even 1 pill. After 2 pills, I had muscle weakness. I had difficulty putting my young son in the car. Now, I have a little pain in my arms and legs. I won't take more pills. The pharmacist told me to stop it right now. I hope everything will go back to normal in a couple of days."

Ciprofloxacin for Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I have a pretty mean case of cellulitis. I was prescribed Cipro 2x daily. The first day I took it, some of the redness seemed to lighten up, my body had aches all over, but I was still willing to proceed to get rid of the deep, nasty pain of the infection. Cannot use NSAIDs on Cipro - so Tylenol 4 times daily it was. Tylenol only worked about 2 hours, and the pain was back plus. 3 days in, the redness was growing and an ulcer had now formed. I kept taking it. I called my doctor on the 6th day and was told to keep taking the Cipro. 8 full days and 1 half day later, I was in the ER. They scanned my leg, an abscess was forming. WBC is higher than the previous week - it is doing nothing but making more pain all over my body. D/C Cipro and now on to Cephalexin 500 mg 4 times a day. Man, I hope something works fast!"

For Intraabdominal Infection "I took one 500 mg pill, and after 2 hours, had tingling and stabbing pain in my Achilles tendon, pain down my shin and into my foot. I immediately took magnesium to try to stop the effectiveness of the meds. Was prescribed this with metronidazole because of GI issues, but lab results haven't even come back. This should only be given as a last-ditch effort."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I had this for pelvic inflammatory disease. I immediately experienced fatigue and was extremely sick to my stomach for weeks afterward. Soon after that, I got crippling leg pain and migraine headaches on a regular basis. The headaches continued to get worse till they were every day. I also have pain in the tendons around my eyes and pretty bad stomach issues from this medication. I've been on a downward spiral that keeps getting worse because of the mitochondrial damage I've endured. I hope to recover, but it's been 7 years since taking it and haven't been the same since, just keeps getting worse!!!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "Took 500 mg BID for a UTI in 2010 and still suffer from the peripheral neuropathy caused by this drug. Tingling in my toes started on about day 2 and continued to get worse until discontinued at day 6. Minimal motor loss, but aggravating numbness, pain, and pins/needles in feet all the time. Take 50 mg QD of amitriptyline, which provides some small relief."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was given Cipro 500 mg 2x a day for 10 days for a UTI. After the first day of taking this medicine, I was running a high fever, had severe migraines, could barely walk, and had no energy at all. I went back to the doctor, who retested for the UTI and also did a CBC, and said everything was normal and to finish out the antibiotic. Even though I was still having the burning sensation from the UTI, and the high fever and migraines, I was told everything was normal from their tests. Later that day, I was in the ER from my temperature being almost 103. They did every test under the sun, including more blood work, a CT scan of my stomach, plus several other tests. They ended up telling me it was a fever of unknown origin and back spasms but couldn't explain the rest of my symptoms. I was sent home and told to continue the Cipro and Tylenol for the fever. After 2 more days of this fever and pain I was in, I decided to stop the Cipro myself. Almost immediately I started feeling better. This medication is dangerous!"

For Kidney Infections "I was diagnosed with a kidney infection. I was given Cipro 500 mg twice daily. On the first day after taking the drugs, the pain on my side vanished. Then, on the third day, I started feeling slight pain in my back and side, but I am still taking the drugs. I don't know if my condition has worsened."

For Prostatitis "2 years prostatitis unknowingly, diagnosed a year ago. I had no response to treatment. I've tried all things from antibiotics, including taking cipro 500 mg twice a day for about three weeks. Tried herbal medicine, diuretic, and anti-inflammatory pill for more than one month. Symptoms of frequent urination, testicular and back pain have been improved. Since it has been a long-time condition, the doctor told me I need another several months to cure it."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Prescribed ciprofloxacin 500 mg twice a day for UTI. Bad experience. Had 90% of side effects. Had side effects before reading what they may be. Aches, pains, rash, and not sleeping at all. Stopped taking and got a new antibiotic. Felt better 2 days later. I will never take Cipro again. Seems it works for some people. Not for me."

For Urinary Tract Infection "While taking Cipro, I developed weakness and instability in my shoulders while surfing. The tendons in my elbows became stiff and sore as well. After a few months of surfing like this, I eventually developed shoulder impingement in the left shoulder, which immobilized that shoulder, and then mild impingement in the right shoulder. It's been 7 months now, and although the impingement has improved somewhat by ceasing, reducing, and adapting activity, the inflammation and tendonitis are still present, and I don't expect it to go away within the next few months. Hopefully, it does go away."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I woke up to an extremely burning sensation in my urine on Friday. At first, I tried home remedies like drinking a lot of water and cranberry juice. After two days, my urine was not burning the way it used to be, but I was having on-and-off pain in my pelvic region. I went to the urgent care, the nurse did the strip test, which came out negative, but the doctor still prescribed me Cipro 500 mg twice daily for 5 days. I am on my pill #2, and I didn't have any severe symptoms so far. Though my anxiety is touching the sky because of the negative reviews everywhere. I think everyone is built differently. The reason I gave her 4 is because I have 8 more pills to go."

For Salmonella Gastroenteritis "I had antibiotics before this but had an infection, so the doc gave me this after speaking to the hospital. Please stay away from this!!! I had the worst experience ever. I was taking 2 a day. On my 4th day, it was hell. I took one in the morning about 1 pm. I had this bad pain above my belly button, like cramps. I kept running to the loo. On the second run, I broke out in sweat, lightheaded, sickly feeling. I felt like it was over for me. My mother had wet some cold towels and wrapped me up to cool me down. I had pins and needles in my arms and legs. I started cooling down, and then the chills came on. Still running to the loo and got to the point that I had to take Imodium tablets to stop this, which worked. I'm still feeling cold and lightheaded."

For Prostatitis "Before I explain my experience, I need to explain that I have a congenital defect in my feet termed 'bilateral subtalar tarsal coalitions.' Typically, I'm in pain my podiatrist equates to 'walking on two broken ankles 24/7.' After three days on Cipro for bacterial prostatitis, my extensor tendons, across the tops of my ankles, became unusually inflamed and excruciatingly painful. Very literally, I couldn't walk for two days and had to rely on a cane to walk. Simultaneously, I had odd pains in my forearms. I was instructed to immediately stop taking the Cipro. Simply put, my urologist completely ignored the warnings and my lifelong battle with a disabling chronic foot disorder, and I'm never taking this medication again! It's just not worth it."
