Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Otitis Externa "I was floxed by Ciprodex. It was a nightmare from day 1. I need an ear doctor that understands how to help me recover from the damage of this eardrop. Please provide doctor names. I need serious help, my specialist still cannot come to terms with the fact that I was floxed or what to do for me. I am very desperate. I have permanent hearing loss from this drug."

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Otitis Externa "I had ear canal inflammation for almost 4 weeks and haven't touched these drops since the reviews say that it'll damage your cochlear nerve, cause hearing loss and tinnitus. Taking these drops, I've seen some improvement. Yeah, a little pain here and there, and yes... a little tinnitus here and there, but that's cause the medicine is eating the inflammation like Pac-Man. It works like a charm. Just don't overuse it or you'll get hearing loss and resistance. It works, trust me."

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Middle Ear Infections "Prescribed Ciprodex by my ear specialist to clear up a middle ear infection that occurred due to a ruptured eardrum. I’m on day 6, and it hasn’t really worked. No adverse side effects other than some mild itching and a decrease in personal finances - $265 for a tiny bottle!"

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Middle Ear Infections "I’m not sure why everyone needs to come on the internet and tell them your bad experience, which likely wasn’t that bad. Anyways, I had a super bad ear infection, got prescribed this and amoxicillin 500 together, and I have to say the next morning I feel a ton better. So I would recommend for sure."

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Middle Ear Infections "I like how it cleans out my ear. It calmed down my pain in 2 days. I'm using 4 drops twice a day. The only problem is a little loss of hearing, I believe it's the wax built up inside my ear and the infection. Now I'm going to get my ear cleaned by my doctor today."

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Middle Ear Infections "Have been having on and off ear pain and swelling for two months. I’m a surfer in and out of the water every day, living in Central America with nothing but an GP in an ER clinic available for medical help. First, was prescribed by an ER clinic doc Cipo BID for 6 days, which made the infection seem like it was going away with mild relief, only to have it come back with a vengeance a week later but all swelling in the neck and jaw and pain but I could hear, and the ear canal was clear. Back to the clinic. Prescribed Clamicil BID (amoxicillin) and Ciprodex drops, 3 drops every 8 hours. The Clamicil was working great. 24 hours of the drops and my ear had swollen shut. Severe pain and itching and discharge. The doc said, oh well, just stop using them then. Why even prescribe them?! I’m worse off than when I went in. Luckily, they’re not expensive here, I only paid $20 for the bottle. Continuing the amoxicillin and moving on to seeing an acupuncturist for the swelling. Do not use these!"

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Otitis Externa "This hurts so bad. I'm not sleeping at night. I'm in constant pain from the medication. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow and reporting this. I feel like I stuck poison in my ear. I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE IN SO MUCH PAIN!!!!"

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Middle Ear Infections "I have never had ear infections. My ears have been in good condition up until the last year. Plus, my doctor recommended that I go and see a specialist. The specialist then forward vacuumed my ear out to clear out the debris so that the antibiotic drops could clear the infection. However, after taking these drops, I have incurred clogged ear, intense itching in my inner ear. The medication is extremely expensive. I don't know if the specialist and the pharmaceutical representatives are working in conjunction, but it is not conducive to the ones these drops are being prescribed to, those experiencing ear pain. Matter of fact, my doctor prescribed an off-brand, and symptoms went away and came back over time. It was then I was referred back to the specialist who swears by Ciprodex. I do not recommend this medication. It interrupts sleep, pain, and intense itching in the inter-canal. Still going through this now."

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Otitis Externa "So when I first got Ciprodex prescribed, I was scared of it hurting, due to all the reviews about pain. However, having been on this for a week and doing the 4 drops twice a day, I felt no pain. Literally nothing. Just normal ear drops. Sometimes it was a bit cold because I didn't warm it up in my hand long enough, but that was it. I was hesitant about trying this at first, but it worked great, my ear (which was painful to the touch prior) is now feeling normal. I had never previously had an ear infection, but if I get one again, I would use this. The only reason I am not choosing 10/10 is because it is pricey. My insurance covered most of it, but I had to pay about $70 out of pocket still. Obviously, different people have different side effects to medicine and could take Ciprodex when they have a much more severe infection than I did, but it treated me super easily and painlessly."

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Otitis Externa "I had an ear infection. I went to the ER, and they gave me Ciprodex and told me to use it for 7 days, but I didn't need to because my infection was gone after 2 days of using Ciprodex. I will think it works great."

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Otitis Externa "Dealing with soreness in right ear.... progressively getting worse over a period of 3 weeks or more. Ciprodex was prescribed at a cost of $400. My Medicare didn't cover, so I faxed over to V.A. They issued it free of charge for me. First two days.... no improvement. 3rd day greatly improved. Now on my 5th day and I believe I'm cured, but will continue to take as prescribed for 7 days total. Side effects: some itching, but none other that I notice."

For Middle Ear Infections "My infection was so bad my ear got engorged. The pain was excruciating. I'm on my second day on the drops and the pain is a lot less. I still can't hear well from the infected ear and I still have pain, but it's bearable. After reading the reviews here, I'm hoping to hear in a couple of days. I hope this helps someone. Pain doesn't immediately go away, but it will go away, just give it a chance to work."

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Middle Ear Infections "Ciprodex is a weak antibiotic diluted with a steroid that doesn't work. Took 6 days to feel any effect. I used regular doses of ibuprofen to control the pain. What happened to the effective antibiotics I used to get for outer ear infections? I've had 8 or 10 infections over the last 12-15 years. The last two were awful due to this useless drop. Ridiculously expensive too."

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Middle Ear Infections "Ciprodex didn't help me at all. After 4 drops, it made my pain even worse, it added some burning sensation to my ear. This product should be off the market. Spent $56 after insurance, such a waste of money and time. I don't recommend this product to anyone."

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Otitis Externa "I would rate this medication, Ciprodex, as 0 if that was an option. It cost $150 and did absolutely nothing for my daughter's ear infection. We had to go back to her doctor and get a generic that we've used before. Incredibly disappointing and absurdly overpriced."

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Otitis Externa "My daughter just started taking this yesterday, and as soon as we used the drops, within half an hour, she was in more pain than she had been before taking it. I hopped on here and saw so many other people have experienced the same thing. We are going to try them this morning and see if it makes a difference or not. She complained of pain in her ear all the way down the side of her jaw. And the price - oh my goodness. I don't have coverage, and this little bottle cost me $45. I see some people are paying more, which is ridiculous considering it seems to be a medication that does not work the best. We'll see how we do after the next dose, otherwise, I'm stopping it and we are going back to the doctor."

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Middle Ear Infections "I took this medication for 3 days, and my ear pain increased so bad to the point of tears. I had pain from my temple through my jawbone. I had problems chewing because my teeth (bite) were crooked due to the jaw swelling. I read a few reviews stating that it gets worse before it gets better. There is no way this is helping me. I just had to stop taking it and continue my amoxicillin and started using the Similasan ear relief drops (OTC)."

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Otitis Externa "I had a mild infection. My doctor said my eardrum was pink and prescribed Ciprodex. I had first tried hydrogen peroxide for three days. The drops burned badly. When the dose was finished, my hearing, which was already going in that ear, was gone. I went back to my doctor. The infection was gone. He said my eardrum would rebound. He’s a good doctor, so I hope he’s right. It’s been over 4 months now, and a hearing test last week showed a huge drop in that ear."

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Middle Ear Infections "I am on my last drops of Ciprodex today. I would say I am 75% better and was also on a Z-pack. I could not hear at all for the first few days. Now my right ear is completely better, and my left is only halfway there. BUT THE COST IS CRAZY: $400.00. My healthcare only paid $96.00 of it. And yes, it hurts for a while after you put the drops in your ears!!!"

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Otitis Externa "I’ve been prescribed this antibiotic for my ear infection! My instructions are to use it twice daily for 7 days and use 4 drops! You guys, I am on my 7th day and guess what? Nothing! Like this can’t be true... this little tube of ear drops cost me $40 just for it not to work! I have headaches, sometimes my neck hurts, and on top of that, my ear doesn’t feel like it’s getting better! This has to be the worst I could have gotten!!"

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Middle Ear Infections "Dr. prescribed Ciprodex Otic drops for my ear infection. I took my first dose (4 drops) at 2 pm yesterday. Within a few hours, itching started, and small red dots appeared on my neck, upper arms, and chest. I took Benadryl at 10 pm because they were now hives. Slept very little. Went to Dr. this morning to show her the hives. Rather than prescribe a replacement medicine, she said to take Zyrtec for the next two days and see her next week. The Ciprodex cost me $97.50 out of pocket after the small portion my insurance covered. This was a short-lived nightmare I will not repeat. This was after 1 dosage."

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Middle Ear Infections "This was a fairly scary experience for me. The review that explained how the doctor assured them there was no way Ciprodex was causing the swelling and pain, yeah... that doctor needs to get a clue. Had an ear infection for a week. Nothing but inner ear pain and redness on the ear. Used amoxicillin for 3 days. Wasn't helping. So they prescribed me Ciprodex. This was day ten. No swelling, no jaw pain. 3 hours after taking it, my wife noticed that the side of my face was HUGE. I couldn't eat anything because of intense jaw pain and could barely even talk, with redness all around my ear. Used for two days because I read that sometimes it can be the infection that can cause certain things. It only got worse, of course. Now, 3 days after, I am just about back to normal, with the infection still. Didn't want to take it for 2-3 days with those side effects, but I paid $230 for this tiny bottle. Can be cheaper with insurance, but new job and it doesn't kick in for another month. Be careful."

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Otitis Externa "Showered in the morning (I usually don't). This probably was the start of the bacterial infection. Early next morning, I woke up to pain in my left ear. Felt like a chunk of earwax was poking my eardrum and the back of my ear. Spent the entire day trying to get it out with earwax remover and water. Advil got me to sleep. The day after, I went to the doctor, who prescribed Ciprodex. It hurt quite a bit, but less than the pain from before. I took Advil 2 or 3 times that day. The next day, my ear felt inflamed. Sometimes I felt sharp pain at the back of my ear, but I didn't need Advil that day, though. The next after that is today. It just feels like there's earwax all over the inside of my ear, but no pain. Some pieces I picked out looked like earwax, but I'm thinking it's Ciprodex that has just dried out in my ear canal. For fixing my issue in about two days, I'd say this stuff is actually insanely effective. (Though disclaimer, I have no idea how bacterial infections go for other regions of the body)."

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Middle Ear Infections "Horrible company-charges about $300 for a teeny-tiny bottle of a medicine containing two generically available drugs: a steroid and an antibiotic. Also, the price has risen dramatically, despite the low cost of the been-around-forever drugs contained in these drops. Total ripoff, and an example of why these companies (Novartis in this case) need to be much more regulated."

Ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone otic for Middle Ear Infections "I've been using this medication for 3 days now. The pain from my infection is gone, but the ringing in my ear is still there, and everything is muffled. I am also on an oral antibiotic for tonsillitis and sinus infection as well. Overall, I am very happy with this medication. The only downside is that if I had not had insurance, this medication would have cost $101, with insurance, it was only $25."
