For Strep Throat "When I was first prescribed this for strep, I came here to look at reviews and was scared at first. Three days later, I feel a lot better and the worst side effect I've had was slight nausea for about a half hour after taking it. It works amazingly."

For Bronchitis "This has got to be the worst medication I've been on. I went to the doctor for recurring fever, sore throat, and violent coughing to the point of almost throwing up. The doctor prescribed me this medication. After 24 hours of taking the medication, I developed diarrhea. I, at first, didn't think it was part of the drug, until severe fatigue/lethargy took hold. On the third day, I suspected that it had to be the drug. I called the doctor's office and told them. They told me to stop taking the drug immediately. I was given a different antibiotic, but to wait two or three days before taking the next antibiotic."

For Sinusitis "DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE. I REPEAT, DO NOT. I had a cold that turned into a sinus infection and was prescribed cefdinir to take twice a day for ten days. I’m allergic to amoxicillin, but my doctor said it should be okay because it’s never been a serious reaction. I started the antibiotics Monday night, and it’s Saturday now. So I took pill 10 out of 20. Within an hour of taking it, I had diarrhea and didn’t think a lot of it because it wasn’t horrible and I didn’t feel sick. Well, I’m five hours later and multiple trips to the bathroom with horrible cramps and loose, mucus stool, and I feel like death is washing over me. I called my doctor, and she suggested a probiotic, but I told her I was not finishing it. Praying the symptoms go away with time. This happened to a family member as well. Please save your body and do not take this medicine."

For Sinusitis "I am on my 4th day of the pill, and although my sinusitis is almost 100% gone, I have the worst diarrhea I've ever experienced in my life. I cannot be away from the bathroom for more than 30 min to an hour. I feel better physically, but this side effect is one to look out for."

For Sinusitis "Took this medication twice a day for 10 days for infection of sinuses and adenoids. First three days, my stomach hurt and headaches. Remainder of the days, no side effects until the day I stopped taking it, developed diarrhea and severe stomach cramping that didn't go away. 5 days after stopping the med, now positive for C. diff. I even took probiotics through the entire course of the med. Getting married in a week. Thanks a lot, Cefdinir. I wanted everyone to be aware of this!!!!"

For Sinusitis "My six-month-old had two doses before we had to stop due to GI issues. Over a week later, and she still has painful gas and diarrhea. We're tired because she doesn't sleep well. Cefdinir should be illegal."

For Pneumonia "10 days for pneumonia. Doctor prepared me for the side effects of yeast infection, telling me to coat my stomach with yogurt or probiotics before I take this pill. I am on day 8 of taking this pill, and I have no yeast infection. However, my stool is dark, and I don't care if I lose weight! My doctor prepared me for iron deficiency during the intake of this pill, telling me to take an iron supplement during its course."

Cefdinir for Middle Ear Infections "My son had an ear infection, and the doctor always gives amoxicillin first, and it never works. He always has to get Omnicef, and then he starts getting better. He does have light diarrhea occasionally, but nothing too horrible. I've had an ear infection myself, and I was sick for 2 weeks before I went to the doctor. Thought I had a bad cold, but when it just wouldn't go away, I found I had fluid buildup in my ear. They prescribed Omnicef, and it worked. I didn't have any diarrhea even though I already have severe IBS! I'd definitely recommend it."

Cefdinir for Middle Ear Infections "My daughter, who was 14 months at the time, had a severe reaction to this medication after being prescribed for a 3rd ear infection in a year. She actually got worse and had severe side effects (aside from the gastrointestinal as mentioned by others), including vomiting, continued high fever, and by the end of the second day - hives. I list it as a drug allergy now on all her medical paperwork."

For Bronchitis "I'm a bit confused as to why the doctor would give this to me when I have a severe allergy to penicillin. Last time I took penicillin, I woke up in my neighbor's driveway, wakened by emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and my mother. I took this medicine trusting my doctor and pharmacist and am suffering on the first dose. Headache, dizziness, body aches, stiff neck, insomnia, back killing me, legs, and feet swollen. On my way to the ER to raise hell and find out why they and the pharmacist did not tell me this was a crossed hypersensitivity medicine to penicillin! Would have been nice to have a heads-up. Bronchitis, sinusitis, and both ears infected, and now all of this from what was supposed to help cure me. This medicine, in my opinion, is a danger to all people who are allergic to penicillin. You would think a doctor or pharmacist would at least give you a heads-up. Ugh."

For Sinusitis "I was prescribed a 10-day dose of this horrific medication. By day 3, I was having diarrhea at least 10 times a day. I stopped taking it on day 5 after experiencing a terrible headache and intense joint pain, neither of which could be relieved by over-the-counter pain killers. That was 3 months ago, and I'm still not back to normal. I still have frequent bouts of diarrhea. My doc assures me it will go away with time and probiotics, but 3 months of diarrhea is too serious a side effect in my opinion. Also, this medication cost me over $50. Most other antibiotics are either free or cost a lot less than this poison!"

For Bronchitis "Prescribed this medicine on Saturday along with a burst of prednisone for 5 days. Cefdinir really cleared my condition, but the side effects caused me to discontinue after 6 days due to chronic diarrhea, which has not stopped after stopping this medicine. Unusual fatigue. 1 day no urine. Lost 10 lbs. Will avoid using this drug."

For Strep Throat "I have strep throat (day 2). I got prescribed this medication. After the first pill kicked in, I felt better already. Don't listen to people who say, don't listen to the people who gave 1 stars. Well, obviously, if you're educated in the medical field, everybody reacts differently to medication. Just because it works for you, doesn't mean it does for everyone else. Everyone is not you. My mother-in-law and I take the same antidepressants. She doesn't gain weight, and I do. You understand what I'm saying? So leave your opinions to yourself. It's a hit and miss with everyone and different meds."

For Sinusitis "I had taken this drug in the past, it made me vomit violently and diarrhea. When it was prescribed for me recently, I had forgotten that this was the drug that made me so sick. I took one capsule, and within 3 hours, was violently ill: massive diarrhea and vomiting. I was alone and could not even get to my phone for help. I lay on the floor of my shower for hours, having episode after episode. It is nearly 24 hours after taking it, and I am in such a weakened state I will not be getting out of bed. I feel I probably should have called 911 and gone to the hospital, I still am so dehydrated. This is an evil drug!"

For Sinusitis "I have chronic sinusitis, allergies, and asthma and usually get a debilitating acute sinus infection every winter. I went to urgent care when I woke with extremely swollen tonsils, a dry but persistent cough, and horrible facial pain everywhere due to an overnight maxillary sinus infection. Was put on cefdinir for 10 days. I developed terrible bronchitis after the 2nd day on the antibiotic, which I'm not sure is normal or not, but the sinus infection actually seemed worse by day 5. Today is day 7, and I’m blowing my nose around the clock like I have been all week, but my ears are still completely blocked, sinuses are still not clear, I’ve developed nosebleeds with the migraines, and I am pretty sure the bronchitis has progressed to pneumonia. I’m dizzy and out of it, and it burns terribly to breathe, and the echo from my cough could go on for miles. Going to wait 'til day 10, but if the coughing with dark green mucous gets any worse, I’ll have no choice but to ask for a second antibiotic."

For Sinusitis "My 11-year-old daughter had a sinus infection and was prescribed 300 mg 2 times a day. Within an hour of the first dose, she became very ill. Turned pale and her eyes dialed as if she were going to pass out. I called the doctor immediately, and they said the effects would pass. We discontinued immediately and were prescribed a different antibiotic, and she was fine. This drug is horrible, and I can't believe it's still being used."

Cefdinir for Bronchitis "Worst experience ever. I took one capsule and two hours later, I started diarrhea. I only took one more tablet 12 hours later. I had diarrhea for 4 weeks. I had a hemorrhoid flare-up. Never again will I take this drug. I think it took about 4 months to get my gut straightened out. Be very cautious of this drug."

For Middle Ear Infections "Allergic reaction! My 11-year-old son started taking cefdinir because he had an ear infection. After the 7th dose, he started complaining of a 'burning' pain in his feet and hands. I suspected it was a reaction to the cefdinir, stopped giving him the medication, and contacted his doctor's office to notify them. He is not taking a new antibiotic. However, three days after the last dose of cefdinir, he has developed a new symptom: an allergic rash. He has a red rash on his arms and legs. Allergy to cefdinir confirmed! Please follow your gut instinct if you have any reason to suspect an allergy to medication! I'm so glad I followed mine!"

For Sinusitis "Day 8. I have had the most severe sinus/double infection of my life, and this medication has helped tremendously! I was worried it wasn't working at first, but by day 5, I felt so much better! On the downside, I have terrible headaches almost all day. I'll skip a day, then the headache is back. Ibuprofen helps a little bit, not much. Dizziness is terrible also. I have a little confusion and frustration at times. It's not too bad. Just the awful headaches, but I remember how bad my infections were before this medicine, and it's worth it. Slight diarrhea, but no big deal."

For Sinusitis "My doctor gave me this for my sinus infection. The two days OK, 3 days got a blister on my lip, thought it was a cold sore coming on! I finished my medicine on Sunday, and I have experienced constipation and then diarrhea. Haven't stopped, and very bad cramps. Didn't know that this medicine causes side effects. I would never, never, never have taken it."

For Sinusitis "Within 6 hours of the first dose, intense itching of nostrils, face, scalp, chest, bottoms of feet, palms; pins and needles on back, inner thighs. Stopped taking it as an allergic reaction. Was to start Prednisone tomorrow, but at 2:45 am got up to take the first steroid dose, hoping to thwart these horrendous side effects. I pray the intestinal effects don’t hit me like they have others. I’ll NEVER use this drug again."

For Sinusitis "I suffer from multiple sinus infections every year. Three days ago, I was prescribed cefdinir for the first time. It has caused unbearable nausea and diarrhea. After hearing that it has done the same for so many others, it angers me that a doctor would even consider prescribing this drug when there are other options that work better and do not have unacceptable side effects. Cefdinir is a failure in the field of medicine."

For Middle Ear Infections "My 11-year-old son got put on this drug for an ear infection. He is allergic to Amoxicillin, so they prescribed cefdinir. He took it one time before and had no issues. This time, however, on day 8 of 10, he broke out in severe hives all over his body. Had to counteract with Benadryl. Took him to urgent care, and they prescribed prednisolone for 5 days. On day 3 now and still have not seen any improvement. I am trying to be hopeful that by day 4 I will see some. Has anyone had a similar experience?"

For Sinusitis "My 7th day (out of 10) on cefdinir, and it did not work for me. It only gave me diarrhea and made me very tired all 7 days I was on it. I slept most of the time for the past 7 days. I was given it to treat sinusitis, which symptoms are the same, and now I feel I have bronchitis. My lungs and chest are filled with mucus. Still coughing non-stop like crazy, runny nose, post-nasal drip, headaches, fatigue, chest pain, congested. Cefdinir sucks! What a waste of my time & days. The doctor is going to prescribe another antibiotic. This time, a 5-day course. Insurance covered the medication, which I paid a $5.00 copay."

"Prescribed cefdinir 300 mg 2x a day for 7 days for a UTI. After the 5th day, stopped. I have had several problems with my GI tract. Have been trying to repair the damage done from previous antibiotics. Feel like I just took a huge step backwards! Now my gut is worse than before. Side effects are nausea, chills, diarrhea, headache, anxiety, sleeplessness, and a horrible distended belly. No appetite either, terrible taste in my mouth, red (almost purple) tongue. Horrible drug. Seems most reviews are very similar. Should have declined this drug. One more night, for those of you writing reviews during the course should not write a review until AFTER you finish the course! Side effects more often begin after finishing the drug, duh!!! And this drug is considered a “wide spectrum antibiotic,” which means it will get rid of a lot of strains of bacteria, including the good gut bacteria. If you have to take this drug, I strongly recommend a good probiotic."
