For Sinusitis "On cefdinir from day 1 to day ten. Severe weakness and tiredness. Seemed to clear up my sinus infection but then gave me a cold with stuffy nose and sore throat, and a bad yeast infection. Worst antibiotic I have ever taken, wish my doctor had told me about the side effects. Much worse than enduring a sinus infection."

Omnicef (cefdinir) for Bronchitis "Within 36 hrs symptoms started to subside. Had no side effects with stomach (take with food). I suffer from bronchitis about twice a year. This medication was much more effective than Z-packs, Amoxicillin, or Cipro. I started getting mild headaches around day 4, Felt better but didn't clear up cough and wheezing. "

Omnicef (cefdinir) for Sinusitis "Omnicef was effective in treating my daughter's sinusitis. However, she broke out in hives a day after finishing the medication. Although it is not certain the medicine caused her hives, it is very ironic that they broke out within 24 hours of finishing the antibiotic."

For Strep Throat "I've got strep throat probably about 4 times in the last 12 months, I've usually got Amoxicillin for strep (what my dr always prescribes) a couple months ago when I got strep throat, I went to my dr and it was after hours so I seen someone I never seen before. She gave me a steroid shot for swelling and also a antibiotic shot, prescribed cefdinir two times daily for ten days. It worked great! I felt better after two pills the first night. Well I got it again a few days ago and was prescribed cefdinir again and I'm so glad because it works super fast! Better than amoxicillin in my opinion. The only side affect is diarrhea. I haven't really had it this time but I did the first time I took it. LOVE this medicine. I recommend it."

For Sinusitis "My six month old had two doses before we had to stop due to GI issues. Over a week later and she still has painful gas and diarrhea. We're tired because she doesn't sleep well. Cefdinir should be illegal."

For Pneumonia "I had bacterial pneumonia and was Rx'ed this and it worked wonders. Cured my pneumonia in 5 days. Zero side effects. I see many people have terrible experience with this drug but for me it was fantastic and worked wonders."

For Sinusitis "I am a Scuba diver and have had fluid in my ear almost a month so I finally went to the doctor so that I could get something to clear up the fluid for a dive trip coming up. No OTC things were helping. They said I have a sinus infection (although I felt completely fine, I was just annoyed with having fluid in my ear for so long and knew it would cause problems when I went diving). I started taking it though. I have not had any of the side effects others are mentioning in the comments, but I have been feeling worse and worse with each day. The fluid finally cleared up after taking it for 7 days but it's day 9 now and I'm fatigued, throat hurts, appetite is gone. That has been getting worse with each day. I'm going to finish it up and then wait a few days before going back to see a different doctor. I wouldn't recommend taking this medicine and will be telling anyone in the future to prescribe me anything but this."

For Sinusitis "I have chronic sinusitis, allergies and asthma and usually get a debilitating acute sinus infection every winter. I went to urgent care when I woke with extremely swollen tonsils, a dry but persistent cough and HORRIBLE facial pain everywhere due to an overnight maxillary sinus infection. Was put on Cefdinir for 10 days. I developed terrible bronchitis after the 2nd day on the antibiotic which I'm not sure is normal or not but the sinus infection actually seemed worse by day 5. Today is day 7 and I’m blowing my nose around the clock like I have been all week but my ears are still completely blocked, sinuses are still not clear, I’ve developed nosebleeds with the migraines and I am pretty sure the bronchitis has progressed to pneumonia. I’m dizzy and out of it and it burns terribly to breathe and the echo from my cough could go on for miles. Going to wait til day 10 but if the coughing with dark green mucous gets any worse I’ll have no choice but to ask for a second antibiotic."

For Sinusitis "DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE. I REPEAT, DO NOT. I had a cold that turned into a sinus infection and was prescribed cefdinir to take twice a day for ten days. I’m allergic to amoxicillin but my doctor said it should be okay because it’s never been a serious reaction. I started the antibiotics Monday night and it’s Saturday now. So I took pill 10 out of 20. Within an hour of taking it, I had diarrhea and didn’t think a lot of it because it wasn’t horrible and I didn’t feel sick. Well I’m five hours later and multiple trips to the bathroom with horrible cramps and loose, mucus stool and I feel like death is washing over me. I called my doctor and she suggested a probiotic but I told her I was not finishing it. Praying the symptoms go away with time. This happened to a family member as well. please save your body and do not take this medicine."

Omnicef (cefdinir) for Otitis Media "The worst side effects ever!!! Started taking for inner ear. First day wasn't so bad, but the second day!!! I was in full panic, ringing in the ears, mouth sores, tingling pins and needles up and down my face, raise in my bp and last but not least my face would go hot!!. Usually during a panic attack I could calm myself down. Not this time. I couldn't figure out what was going on, couldn't have imagined an antibiotic would do this. Most of my symptoms have disappeared after one day of not taking except for the tinnitus. Hopefully it will calm down soon."

"Prescribed cefdinir 300 mg 2x a day for 7 days, for a UTI. After 5th day stopped. I have had several problems with my GI tract. Have been trying to repair damage done from previous antibiotics. Feel like I just took a huge step backwards! Now my gut is worse than before. Side effects are nausea, chills, diarrhea, headache, anxiety, sleeplessness and a horrible distended belly. No appetite either, terrible taste in my mouth, red(almost purple) tongue. Horrible drug. Seems most reviews are very similar. Should have declined this drug. One more nite, for those of you writing reviews during the course should not write a review til AFTER you finish the course! Side effects more often begin after finishing the drug, duh!!! And thus drug is considered a “wide spectrum antibiotic” which means it will get rid a lot of strains of bacteria, including the good gut bacteria. If you have to take this drug I strongly recommend a good probiotic."

For Otitis Media "I was given ear drops prior to clear up my ear infection, but it didn't work, so my doctor prescribed cefdinir. It took about a month after taking it for my infection to completely clear up. I also did get a yeast infection as a result of taking this medication."

For Bacterial Infection "I am on a 3-day cycle of this. Today is day 2. After taking one I was ok until I ate lunch. Could not make it to the bathroom. I thought it was just a rare occurrence. So I took the second pill. A few hours later my back is in so much pain on the right side. Got up this morning and can barely move, sit, or lay. I'm thinking of not taking the rest. I'm very sensitive to medication and I think this is will be on my do not take list."

For Otitis Media "Just starting day 3 of Cefdinir for double middle ear infections. Almost immediately the drainage down my throat was better and today I can actually talk without coughing each time I open my mouth so it appears to be getting rid of all the fluid. Slight amount of diarrhea, but not too bad. So far it appears to be working. Hoping that at least some of my hearing will start to return."

For Sinusitis "Doctor put me on this medicine for first time for a sinus infection. First day seem better. Second day all symptoms returned painful headache fever and chills. On seventh day went back to doctors, told her medicine wasn't working. She is running a TB test. Chest X-rays. Blood work and HIV test. Also changed to amoxicillin, it always worked before. Stopped taking cefdinir and already feeling better. "

For Bronchitis "I found this medication to be quite effective beginning on the first day of using it. I was prescribed this medication for Bronchitis, Sinus Infection, and Possible Pneumonia. It has worked wonders in draining my sinuses and helping my cough. As far as side effects go, I have none. At first there was mild nausea and a lack of appetite but that has been it. I have the liquid form of this medication and it said to take 1 teaspoon every 12 hours, but I have opted to take 1/2 teaspoon every six hours 4 times a day, which has worked out a lot better in controlling my nausea. I have one more week to go on this medication, but so far so good."

Omnicef (cefdinir) for Otitis Media "My daughter, who was 14 months at the time, had a severe reaction to this medication after being prescribed for 3rd ear infection in a year. She actually got worse and had severe side effects (aside from the gastrointestinal as mentioned by others) including vomiting, continued high fever and by the end of the second day - hives. I list it as a drug allergy now on all her medical paperwork."

For Sinusitis "I was prescribed a 10-day dose of this horrific medication. By day 3, I was having diarrhea at least 10 times a day. I stopped taking it on day 5 after experiencing a terrible headache and intense joint pain, neither of which could by relieved by over the counter pain killers. That was 3 months ago and I'm still not back to normal. I still have frequent bouts of diarrhea. My doc assures me it will go away with time and probiotics, but 3 months of diarrhea is too serious a side effect in my opinion. Also, this medication cost me over $50. Most other antibiotics are either free or cost a lot less than this poison!"

For Sinusitis "Sinus infection right now. I was given Cefdiner to take twice daily. I'd never taken it before but I do not like it. I swear it's making me dehydrated, tired, itchy, diarrhea the first 2 days, lots of side effects. I've taken amoxicillin before so I am not sure why I was given this drug. My doctor told my to continue taking it for now. I have 4 days remaining but I'm done with it. Oh and my head still hurt, not as bad as it was but it's still there."

For Sinusitis "I was given Cefdinir 300mg for a sinus infection. After the 3rd pill, I woke up the next morning with vertigo so bad that I was unable to walk to the bathroom - I had to crawl on hands and knees. For more than 24 hours, I was almost completely bed bound with waves of nausea and vertigo so severe that simply rotating my head just a few degrees on my pillow sent the room spinning. I felt like I was dying. Almost 2 years later, I am still suffering from vertigo. Needless to say, I did not finish the prescription."

For Pneumonia "10 days for pneumonia doctor prepared me for the side effects of yeast infection telling me to coat my stomach with yogurt or probiotics before I take this pill. I am on day 8 of taking this pill and I have no yeast infection. However my stool is dark and I don't care if I loose weight! My doctor prepared me for iron deficiency during the intake if this pill telling me to take an iron supplement during it's coarse."

Omnicef (cefdinir) for Otitis Media "My son had an ear infection and the doctor always gives amoxicillin first and it never works he always has to get Omnicef and then he starts getting better, he does have light diarrhea occasionally but nothing too horrible. I've had an ear infection myself and I was sick for 2 weeks before I went to the doctor. Thought I had a bad cold but when it just wouldn't go away found I had fluid build up in my ear. They prescribed Omnicef and it worked. I didn't have any diarrhea even though I already have severe IBS! I'd definitely recommend it."

For Sinusitis "I had taken this drug in the past, it made me vomit violently and diahreah. When it was prescribed for me recently I had forgotten that this was the drug that made me so sick. I took one capsule and within 3 hours was violently ill, massive diareah and vomiting...I was alone and could not even get to my phone for help, I layed on the floor of my shower for hours having episode after episode. It is nearlly 24 hours after taking it and I am in such a weakened state I will not be getting out of bed. I feel I probably should have called 911 and gone to the hospital, I still am so dehidrated. This is an evil drug!"
