For Strep Throat "I've got strep throat probably about 4 times in the last 12 months, I've usually got Amoxicillin for strep (what my Dr. always prescribes). A couple of months ago when I got strep throat, I went to my Dr. and it was after hours so I saw someone I had never seen before. She gave me a steroid shot for swelling and also an antibiotic shot, prescribed cefdinir two times daily for ten days. It worked great! I felt better after two pills the first night. Well, I got it again a few days ago and was prescribed cefdinir again and I'm so glad because it works super fast! Better than Amoxicillin in my opinion. The only side effect is diarrhea. I haven't really had it this time, but I did the first time I took it. LOVE this medicine. I recommend it."

For Middle Ear Infections "My oldest son had ear infections monthly for nearly 2 years. Doctors only prescribed cefdinir when the infection was really bad, otherwise, it was amoxicillin. Both cleared his infections, though cefdinir worked faster. No reactions. My youngest son turned out to be allergic to amoxicillin, which gave him puffy, horrid diaper rashes. He is only able to take cefdinir and has no reactions to that antibiotic."

Cefdinir for Bronchitis "Within 36 hrs, symptoms started to subside. Had no side effects with stomach (take with food). I suffer from bronchitis about twice a year. This medication was much more effective than Z-packs, Amoxicillin, or Cipro. I started getting mild headaches around day 4. Felt better but didn't clear up cough and wheezing."

For Sinusitis "Started taking this cefdinir medication after having a cold that turned into a sinus infection. Took both doses day 1 but then read the reviews and decided to stop; however, the sinus infection was so frustrating I decided to continue and started up the next day. Was fine for 1.5 days but that night I got terrible aching in my legs and bad dry mouth, along with insomnia and anxiety. Although I saw an improvement in the infection within the time I was taking it, I’ve taken other antibiotics that work just as well without the side effects and will not be taking this again. I just hope it leaves my system and causes no other issues."

For Bronchitis "I found this medication to be quite effective, beginning on the first day of using it. I was prescribed this medication for bronchitis, sinus infection, and possible pneumonia. It has worked wonders in draining my sinuses and helping my cough. As far as side effects go, I have none. At first, there was mild nausea and a lack of appetite, but that has been it. I have the liquid form of this medication, and it said to take 1 teaspoon every 12 hours, but I have opted to take 1/2 teaspoon every six hours, 4 times a day, which has worked out a lot better in controlling my nausea. I have one more week to go on this medication, but so far, so good."

"I took one pill of cefdinir for a UTI, and a couple hours later had diarrhea. The next morning I took another one, and now I am experiencing heart palpitations, extreme fatigue and weakness in my limbs, nausea, confusion, dizziness, severe anxiety. Please do not take this medicine!"

For Bacterial Infection "I took it by IV at the hospital for 3 days, dry mouth, no sleep in 48 hours, not much after that. I have been home nearly 24 hours, still can't sleep, no appetite, can't concentrate. I was being treated for my Crohn's."

For Bronchitis "I am on my 1st dose, and after having bronchitis for the past 6 days and feeling horrid, I feel 100% better after only 6 hours. No side effects as of this time. Taking in conjunction with an albuterol inhaler."

For Sinusitis "I was prescribed this medication for a sinus infection and fluid in my ear. I have on my charts that I am allergic to penicillin but I'm not sure of the reaction. So, the doctor said this has 1% of a penicillin derivative. So I tried it! The first 2 days, my sinus seemed to get better. Then, on the 6th and 7th day, I had a horrible headache, earaches, facial skin burning, chills, and sweats. I couldn't lift my head off the pillow. I took myself off the medicine, and the next day I was feeling better. I still have a lot of congestion, but the pain in my head is gone. I feel like my head was deflated. This has to be an allergy! I learned my lesson."

For Bronchitis "I am a fair-skinned redhead and react to almost everything. I do get bronchitis about one to two times per year. I have sensitive lungs, and when I get it, I have the thick junk and can hardly breathe. I'm O positive for my blood type. But this drug works great with little side effects, if you don't take too much. I have taken this many times over the years as it works the best for me, perhaps my blood type. I only take it once a day for seven days, it does take about three days to really start working, but does a great job getting rid of bronchitis. I've been treated with it for pneumonia as well. I have found it to work excellently. It is strong, so that's why I only take one per day. You can have loose stools, but taking one instead of two seemed to relieve some of that, plus away from any other medications or supplements for sure! I can say I've used this medicine several times in about ten years, and it always worked great! It also helps my rashy, acne-prone skin while on it, that's a bonus!"

For Pneumonia "Prescribed cefdinir for possible pneumonia, and so far, so good. Yeah, a little gassy, but other than that, I can tell it is thinning the cough up, yuk. On it for ten days, so please let this go away. I was told three weeks ago I had type A flu. Congestion wouldn't go away. So we are trying this medicine."

For Middle Ear Infections "Just starting day 3 of Cefdinir for double middle ear infections. Almost immediately, the drainage down my throat was better, and today I can actually talk without coughing each time I open my mouth, so it appears to be getting rid of all the fluid. Slight amount of diarrhea, but not too bad. So far, it appears to be working. Hoping that at least some of my hearing will start to return."

For Sinusitis "I'm shocked at all of the bad reviews! I am VERY, VERY sensitive to medications, and cefdinir was GREAT for my sinusitis and upper respiratory infection!! I took 300 mg, twice a day, and always with 2 soda crackers, and it worked WONDERFULLY!! No side effects! I also ate about 4 oz of yogurt daily, for a probiotic! I almost always get nausea from any medications, but not with cefdinir! Don't be hesitant from the bad reviews... it really is a great antibiotic!! Thank you~"

For Sinusitis "I was given Cefdinir 300 mg for a sinus infection. After the 3rd pill, I woke up the next morning with vertigo so bad that I was unable to walk to the bathroom - I had to crawl on hands and knees. For more than 24 hours, I was almost completely bed-bound with waves of nausea and vertigo so severe that simply rotating my head just a few degrees on my pillow sent the room spinning. I felt like I was dying. Almost 2 years later, I am still suffering from vertigo. Needless to say, I did not finish the prescription."

For Middle Ear Infections "I was given this after I returned from a trip to Texas. Double ear infection and strep. After 4 days on this med, my tongue feels like it's numb, my throat feels like there is a giant lump in there. My ears are ringing nonstop and there is still fluid in there. My heart races for the first hour after taking this, I'm dizzy, and for some odd reason, my feet sweat like crazy (I have never had sweaty feet, ever). I called the Dr's office today, and they will get back to me."

For Sinusitis "Sinus infection right now. I was given cefdinir to take twice daily. I'd never taken it before, but I do not like it. I swear it's making me dehydrated, tired, itchy, diarrhea the first 2 days, lots of side effects. I've taken amoxicillin before, so I am not sure why I was given this drug. My doctor told me to continue taking it for now. I have 4 days remaining, but I'm done with it. Oh, and my head still hurts, not as bad as it was, but it's still there."

For Sinusitis "1.5 hours after the first dose. Severe stomach pain, projectile vomiting, and watery diarrhea for 6 hours, severe chills and sweating, panic, hyperventilating. I am 48 and not new to vomiting, etc.! This was unlike any other episode. Hospitalized for 3 days! Doctor brushed it off as flu! Tried a dose last night for a new sinus infection, and severe cramping and vomiting started within 3 hours of 1 dose! I will refuse this medication in the future!"

For Sinusitis "On cefdinir from day 1 to day ten. Severe weakness and tiredness. Seemed to clear up my sinus infection but then gave me a cold with stuffy nose and sore throat, and a bad yeast infection. Worst antibiotic I have ever taken, wish my doctor had told me about the side effects. Much worse than enduring a sinus infection."

For Sinusitis "I had a horrible experience on cefdinir. I was prescribed it for sinusitis, 300 mg twice per day for 10 days. Two hours after the first dose, I started throwing up constantly. After about 3 hours of throwing up, I was feeling weak and dizzy and was in a lot of pain. I went to the ER, and they started IV fluids for severe dehydration. That's when the diarrhea started. Worst diarrhea of my life (I have IBS, so I've had some pretty bad diarrhea). After the fluids, Zofran, and diluted Bentyl, the throwing up finally stopped. The ER doc said it was because of the cefdinir. I never took a second dose. I would have rather just let the sinusitis play itself out than deal with these side effects from cefdinir. I'll never take it again."

Cefdinir for Sinusitis "Omnicef was effective in treating my daughter's sinusitis. However, she broke out in hives a day after finishing the medication. Although it is not certain the medicine caused her hives, it is very ironic that they broke out within 24 hours of finishing the antibiotic."

For Sinusitis "Doctor put me on this medicine for the first time for a sinus infection. First day seemed better. Second day, all symptoms returned: painful headache, fever, and chills. On the seventh day, went back to the doctor, told her medicine wasn't working. She is running a TB test, chest X-rays, blood work, and HIV test. Also changed to amoxicillin, it always worked before. Stopped taking cefdinir and already feeling better."

For Sinusitis "I am a scuba diver and have had fluid in my ear for almost a month, so I finally went to the doctor so that I could get something to clear up the fluid for a dive trip coming up. No OTC things were helping. They said I have a sinus infection (although I felt completely fine, I was just annoyed with having fluid in my ear for so long and knew it would cause problems when I went diving). I started taking it, though. I have not had any of the side effects others are mentioning in the comments, but I have been feeling worse and worse with each day. The fluid finally cleared up after taking it for 7 days, but it's day 9 now, and I'm fatigued, my throat hurts, and my appetite is gone. That has been getting worse with each day. I'm going to finish it up and then wait a few days before going back to see a different doctor. I wouldn't recommend taking this medicine and will be telling anyone in the future to prescribe me anything but this."

For Bronchitis "I’ve been on this med for 10 days, just took my last two pills. The first few days were the absolute worst... until I realized I needed to eat more when taking it. Since I couldn’t stomach anything else, I ate potatoes. This seemed to help a lot. I was also taking 3-4 pills of 5 million probiotics per pill. Once I figured out the full stomach and probiotic combo, the diarrhea and stomach cramping stopped."

For Sinusitis "If I could give this a 0 or a negative score, I would! I was prescribed this medication for a sinus infection. After the very first dose, my body was in horrible pain to the point of tears. The following two days I took it, I had body aches, extreme fatigue, and a depressed mood. The kicker was the third day when I woke up actively suicidal, wanting to end my life. I haven’t had suicidal ideation for a long while, and it immediately started after taking this med. Once I stopped, the suicidal ideation went away. I will never take this medication again, steer clear."
