For Bacterial Infection "I am on a 3-day cycle of this. Today is day 2. After taking one, I was okay until I ate lunch. Could not make it to the bathroom. I thought it was just a rare occurrence. So I took the second pill. A few hours later, my back is in so much pain on the right side. Got up this morning and can barely move, sit, or lay. I'm thinking of not taking the rest. I'm very sensitive to medication, and I think this will be on my do not take list."

For Sinusitis "Horrible. Given for sinus infection. Day 8 today, not feeling better. Got the rash right away but tolerated it because I was so miserable from sinus infection. I wanted to get better. Day 5, flu-like symptoms, thought maybe I had caught the flu from my son? Now, I don't think that was it, I think it was the meds. High fever, aches, and pains. Have had horrible headaches throughout, assumed it was because of sinusitis, now wondering if it was from the meds. Called the doctor on day 6, and she said to keep taking it and call back if not better in another day. Now have developed cough and diarrhea. After reading these reviews, wish I had read them sooner... pretty sure all my new symptoms are not related to the sinus infection but to this medicine."

For Skin and Structure Infection "The cefdinir antibiotic caused severe side effects. Immediate headaches that lasted for 9 hours with no previous history of such. After 3 days: severe joint inflammation and pain to the point of not being able to walk up the stairs without pain."

For Sinusitis "No side effects at all until my 4th day. I got horrible pain in my leg when going for an easy walk. I thought maybe I twisted my leg somehow? When I woke up, the pain had gotten a little better from resting it, so I took another pill like normal and 4 hours later went for a walk and my other leg started cramping, and I couldn't walk anymore at all! Had to have my bf pick me up. An hour after that, I had horrible widespread body aches, felt like I had the flu. A red rash that lasted a few hours on my face. I'm a 33-year-old healthy female, so I don't have arthritis or anything. I'm not sure if this was causing tendon problems or what. I still have sinus issues, but I guess that's better than not being able to walk and feeling like I've been hit by a truck."

For Middle Ear Infections "This medication has done absolutely nothing for me thus far. The only thing I’ve noticed that’s happened is that the infection is jumping around to different parts of my respiratory tract as well now. Sinus pain, stuffy nose one second, the next I’m coughing up nastiness, and then the pain and infection goes back to my ear, or to my throat, etc. I would think it was just me expelling all of the gross stuff from each of those places, but the process has started to repeat itself now. I’m calling back and asking for amoxicillin."

"I have epilepsy and IBS. I've had a gastric bypass, so don't always absorb things properly. I had UTI symptoms and was told I had Klebsiella, they gave me Macrobid, which did nothing. They gave me 3 days of Cipro (which I shouldn't have because of the epilepsy), this did nothing. 3 more days of Cipro did nothing. Re-tested, now I have a Staph infection. Gave me Levaquin. Day one made me very sick and gave me leg pain. I now have a fungal infection in my anus. Started Cefdinir, and UTI feels 90% better after 2 days. This all followed after a kidney stone. Here's hoping the Cefdinir does the trick."

For Sinusitis "I have chronic sinusitis and was prescribed cefdinir. I had no known allergies to antibiotics (and have been on MANY over the years). Two days into treatment, I woke with my face swollen and covered in hives. My throat began swelling, and I was rushed to the ER. After two Epi shots and IV epinephrine, I spent 5 days in intensive care with anaphylaxis and the worst case of hives I have ever experienced. It was, by far, the most agonizing pain I've endured. It took months to go away with steroids, antibiotics, and prescription antihistamines. I have permanent scarring on my body as a result of the hives. I'm now allergic to all cephalosporins."

For Middle Ear Infections "Had a sinus infection. Dr. prescribed cefdinir, got a shot, and prednisone. Three days of treatment with cefdinir, no better and feeling worse. Lethargic, dizzy. Stopped cefdinir and started getting better. Two days later, I broke out in horrific, painful itching hives on my entire body!!! ER visit. Steroid shot and hydroxyzine, two days and still suffering unbearable pain and itching! Saw my GP today. She's never ever seen an allergic reaction this severe! Just have to wait it out, and in the meantime, suffer!!! Do not use this drug!"

For Sinusitis "I was prescribed this on a Friday for a sinus and middle ear infection. By that next Sunday, I was feeling a little better, but started feeling worse Monday night. Went to school on Tuesday, had to go home early because of a low fever. The whole time I have been taking this medicine, I have had a sharp pain in my nose when I breathe through my nose. I can also smell the medicine. I have had pain so bad in my legs and knees to where it hurts to move, and I've also been slightly forgetful. My ear pain has gotten worse to where it wakes me up. I have never had a medicine that has done this to me in the past."

For Skin and Structure Infection "Every time I took one of these antibiotics, I would get a distended stomach, itching, sleeplessness, migraine, and flu symptoms, including a sore throat, cough, raspy dry voice, stuffed/runny nose, fever, chills, and horrific body pain. It took me 3 days of taking these pills to realize I always got significantly worse right after taking the pill but would get a little better before the next dose was due. I thought I had COVID and was dying, that’s how severe the symptoms were. I could barely get out of bed to go to the bathroom. Never again."

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I had a nasty throat infection and was prescribed this. It cleared my condition up in a few days, but it gave me horrible anxiety/anger episodes. Plus, I could only sleep 3-4 hours a night. If you have anxiety issues and are allergic to penicillin, please try another antibiotic. This one is pretty rough. It also made my legs itch and gave me weird pains in my legs."

For Sinusitis "Was prescribed this for suspected strep throat. I had a fever, so the doctor went ahead and prescribed this to me. First day, I had loose stools and nausea. This continued until the fifth day, I had severe muscle pain and a severe headache. It was a struggle to just walk to the bathroom. Right now, I have watery diarrhea and stomach cramps. Earlier today, I had a fever and severe body chills. Over-the-counter pain meds have not made a dent. Last night, I was tossing and turning in pain and got very little sleep. Cure worse than the cause! I've tolerated many other antibiotics very well in the past, and I will never allow my doctor to prescribe this to me again."

For Strep Throat "I've been on cefdinir for a week now, I still have pain, blisters, and all the side effects. I've had strep throat five times in the past six months, I'm a catcher of it. I've been on amoxicillin before too."

For Strep Throat "I was prescribed cefdinir for a bout of strep throat I had going on in 2017. I explained I was allergic to penicillin and that I am usually prescribed a Z-Pack (I had strep throat numerous times growing up). The doctor mentioned that the Z-Pack wouldn’t be strong enough and that this would work. Whelp...it worked alright. After taking it twice daily for 8 days out of 10, I’ve been dealing with more GI issues than I had in the past that no doctor can seem to resolve. I’m in pain almost every day and diagnosed with proctitis, which I can only assume was caused by or at least initiated by this drug. Always question your doctor, they are human and make mistakes. Please steer clear of this drug for your health. I wish I would have."

Cefdinir for Strep Throat "Bad antibiotic ... never worked, neither for me nor for my kids ... try anything else... 2 days ago, I went to the hospital with an acute throat infection. They passed an antibiotic into my bloodstream using a cannula. I went home feeling much better, but since they put me on Omnicef after wasting too much time taking 2 tablets, it came back. Now I am feeling very painful in my throat again."

For Middle Ear Infections "This is by far the worst medication I have ever been on. I’m allergic to amoxicillin, so cefdinir was prescribed to cure my ear infection. I can’t begin to explain the horror with this medication. I had awful chest, back, and arm pains. I had this pain when I would breathe in the back of my throat that was almost similar to how it feels with my asthma attacks. I had ringing in my ears, awful anxiety (which really sucks because I was finally doing better with my panic attacks), fatigue, and stomach burning. I stopped the medication after 4 days. This drug is definitely a nightmare! I’d prefer the ear infection."
