For Sinusitis "I am on Day 6 of this antibiotic. I am not a huge fan of antibiotics, but my vertigo and head pressure from the sinus infection were enough to get me on them. For the first 2 days, I had no vertigo and head pressure, but now I experience some of it on and off throughout the day. So, I use a Neti Pot to clear out my sinuses. Two days ago, I had post-nasal drip, where I ended up throwing up mucus in the middle of the night. With my experience, I have noticed a loss of appetite and have lost about 5-6 pounds. If I do not take the capsule with food, I will end up with heartburn. I am looking forward to being over with this (4 more days to go). I take a probiotic in between the doses for my digestion."

For Sinusitis "After 4-5 days of taking this antibiotic cefdinir, I began to turn yellow because my liver had begun to shut down. Fortunately, my doctor ran a test which showed bilirubin to be off the charts. I was instructed to get to the emergency room, ASAP. Ended up in the hospital for four days. Apparently, I am 'one in 100,000,' but I would like for the manufacturer to pay my hospital bill. Once I stopped taking cefdinir, my liver recovered rapidly."

For Sinusitis "I am on day 7 of this antibiotic for a sinus infection. While my symptoms have all but gone, I still have to keep taking it, of course. I noticed a couple of days ago that I was feeling 'funny' approximately 2 hours after taking the medicine. It wasn't like that at first, but now I have body aches, headache, chills... kind of reminds me of the flu."

For Sinusitis "I took cefdinir antibiotic for a sinus infection for three days. I ended up having to stop because I was having such bad diarrhea and cramping, which isn’t good since I’m pregnant also. Ended up having to go to the doctor three different times to figure out I now have a C-diff infection from this medicine and now have to take a different antibiotic to clear that up. If you’ve never heard of C-diff, it’s an infection of your intestines and makes you have to go to the bathroom ten or more times a day! Wish I never would’ve started this antibiotic in the first place!"

For Bacterial Infection "I could tell a huge difference after the first day. My sinuses were very tender and my teeth were hurting on the top. I finally broke down and went to the doctor and he gave me cefdinir. No more tooth aching and congestion/drainage/sore throat. Yay."

For Sinusitis "Do not take this drug. I am not allergic to any antibiotics and haven't ever had a bad experience. Because of this drug, I am now fighting a very serious C. difficile infection. Most people haven't even heard of C. diff, but when you do, your life changes. C. difficile isn't as treatable as the internet suggests. This drug is absolutely the reason my life has changed. Do not take it. In fact, ANYTIME you take an antibiotic, take a probiotic (spaced away from the antibiotic dose) with it. And another thing I've learned, there are certain antibiotics you should ask for--NARROW spectrum, ALWAYS. Broad-spectrum antibiotics destroy your gut. If you have to take a broad-spectrum antibiotic, supplement with a probiotic. I cannot stress this enough!"

For Sinusitis "Went to urgent care for an upper respiratory infection. Cefdinir, after 1 day, helped with the respiratory problem but left me suffering with intolerable diarrhea. I'm taking probiotics and just had to take a Lomotil. No pain, but just pure and simple constant running to the bathroom. I'm 70 years old and consider myself an athlete and very strong. Rarely sick, but this has taken me down, I stopped the cefdinir after 5 days. Could not take it anymore."

For Middle Ear Infections "I was put on this cefdinir med after a sinus procedure. After 4 days, my body felt like it was being poisoned. On day 6, my heart fluttered uncomfortably, along with horrible stomach pain. I went into urgent care. My ALT liver enzymes were elevated. This stuff is harsh on the body. I discontinued use that day and drank lots of water. I began to feel slightly better, possibly due to allowing my body to flush it out of its system. I do not like this drug."

For Strep Throat "I was taking this for a bacterial infection that I got in my throat. It was amazing. The first few days my stomach hurt a little, but it was nothing horrible. I felt like almost a new person by the third day. When I first started taking, I came to this website wanting to read reviews and know what I was getting into, and it really scared me because all of these people had horrible experiences, but mine was fine. Great, and don't worry if you get a little nauseous because it's normal."

For Pneumonia "I've had an 11-month cough that evolved from mild at night to moderate day and night to severe day and night, regurgitating clear mucus through my mouth and runny nose. I've seen 2 ENTs, a pulmonologist, a gastrointestinal doctor, an allergist, and treated in the ED for acute coughing spasms. PPIs, inhalers, prednisone, allergy meds, and 2 other antibiotics temporarily stopped it or didn't help. Many tests were given. Finally, one week ago, an immunologist did blood tests which showed low pneumococcal 23 results. He RX'd cefdinir, and after 48-72 hours, I feel a big difference. The doctor said he feels I have a bacterial infection and wants me to take it for 20 days."

For Sinusitis "Went 10 days ago to the doctor for a runny nose and a real bad cough, both being productive. Put me on cefdinir 300 mg. On the last day of taking the medication, and I am still no better, coughing to the point that my voice is raspy. I almost pass out, my chest burns and hurts from coughing so much, still have drainage, still have bloody discharge in my nose. On the good side, no side effects, it's just not working for me."

For Sinusitis "The bad reviews sound awful. I have taken this antibiotic several times and have no adverse reaction. I am currently on 300 mg 2x daily and it kicks butt on the infection. I recommend it for those who can take it."

For Sinusitis "Started this to fight a sinus infection. Four days in, seemed to improve. Only negative was a bad headache. Night four, horrible night sweats and chills to the bone. I couldn't function at work and was still getting chills and stomach cramps. Then the constant diarrhea started. Day five, I had a fever of 102 to go along with body shakes, headache, and still diarrhea. I thought it was the flu, so I continued medication, but by day seven, I had had no relief from it, called my doctor, and she told me to stop meds immediately. I just stopped and am hoping for some relief. I am dehydrated and weak and still can't leave the bathroom for more than 20 minutes! Bad reaction and hoping for some relief!"

For Sinusitis "Been taking this for five days. The pressure in my sinus is lessening, and my fever is gone, but mucus production has increased, and so now my cough is worse. Does this mean it's not working? The best way I've found to avoid the adverse digestive effects (vomiting, etc.) is to take a strong probiotic to replenish what the antibiotic kills. You can ask your doctor for a prescription-strength probiotic (they prescribe them for patients with ulcerative colitis) or find them in pill or drink form at a health food store."

Cefdinir for Sinusitis "300 mg 2 x day for 7 days prescribed for sinusitis. I think I may have felt like I was getting slightly better the 2nd and 3rd day, but after that it went back to the same as before. No adverse side effects, just didn't seem to work."

Cefdinir for Middle Ear Infections "The worst side effects ever! Started taking for inner ear. First day wasn't so bad, but the second day! I was in full panic, ringing in the ears, mouth sores, tingling pins and needles up and down my face, rise in my BP and last but not least my face would go hot! Usually during a panic attack, I could calm myself down. Not this time. I couldn't figure out what was going on, couldn't have imagined an antibiotic would do this. Most of my symptoms have disappeared after one day of not taking except for the tinnitus. Hopefully it will calm down soon."

For Middle Ear Infections "Cefdinir is a good medication and has worked for both sinus and ear infections that I have had. All doctors should also inform their patients you must take a probiotic while on this medication. It eliminates the diarrhea, headaches, and many other side effects I am seeing in the responses below."

For Bacterial Infection "I am on a 3-day cycle of this. Today is day 2. After taking one, I was okay until I ate lunch. Could not make it to the bathroom. I thought it was just a rare occurrence. So I took the second pill. A few hours later, my back is in so much pain on the right side. Got up this morning and can barely move, sit, or lay. I'm thinking of not taking the rest. I'm very sensitive to medication, and I think this will be on my do not take list."

For Sinusitis "I've had roughly 8 sinus infections over the past 20 years, and this is the first time I've been prescribed cefdinir. I've taken it as prescribed, one pill every 12 hours, for the past 24 hours. Unknown if this is working on my sinusitis, as my attention is now 110% focused on the most horrific and violent case of perpetual diarrhea I've ever experienced. Colonoscopy prep doesn't compare to this. The prescribing doctor and I will be having a conversation when the clinic opens later today."

For Middle Ear Infections "I can take anything. Never been allergic to any antibiotic or anything. This is my first time taking this product. Now I take Cymbalta for anxiety and trazodone at night. I am not sure what is in this antibiotic, but I feel like I am on another planet. Trust me, I am a normal guy that has slight anxiety, but I swear I feel so weird on this antibiotic. Something is amiss. It is either interacting with my anxiety med or something. I have never reviewed a drug, and I had to go through many with anxiety. This one is doing something weird. I might need to stop taking it. If you have any anxiety or depression, I would probably avoid this one."

For Sinusitis "Cefdinir did what no other antibiotic did as for getting rid of certain problems that I had for years. However, I had severe cramping and diarrhea with this medicine and had to quit taking it. I feel like, if the doctors know something about this medicine, besides popping 2 a day, he or she should tell you. A person has to look on the internet how to take medicines in order to keep down the side effects. And if my doctor told me it would be better to take Cefdinir on a full stomach and eat yogurt every day, maybe the side effects would have been much less. And he knows how sensitive I am to medicines."

For Sinusitis "I have never taken an antibiotic without experiencing at least some negative side effects due to being extremely sensitive to most medications. Omnicef/Cefdinir is the only antibiotic my body tolerates with zero negative side effects. Over the years, I have taken it for respiratory infections, including sinus, and also for UTI/kidney infections. I am beyond grateful there's at least one medication like this one I can tolerate."

For Sinusitis "I've been taking it for 6 days for acute bronchitis. I was taking it with Tamiflu but finished that prescription. I have very uncomfortable heartburn, and my throat feels a bit weird and itchy, but I don't have cold symptoms. My blood pressure has also increased, and my heart is racing. I've been searching to find if cefdinir increases blood pressure but haven't been able to find anything. I feel like if you have high blood pressure, this may not be for you. Also, the heartburn is very uncomfortable. Like on a scale of 1-10, my heartburn is at a 6."

For Pneumonia "I had bacterial pneumonia and was Rx'ed this, and it worked wonders. Cured my pneumonia in 5 days. Zero side effects. I see many people have a terrible experience with this drug, but for me, it was fantastic and worked wonders."

For Pneumonia "I was prescribed the cefdinir antibiotic to treat pneumonia. Day 5 and no serious side effects whatsoever. Penicillin-based antibiotics generally are super harsh on my stomach. Other than some gas and mild constipation, I have had no issues. I’ve been taking it with a probiotic daily."
