Carisoprodol "I've been taking Soma for at least 7 years due to several fusions in my neck and back, plus muscle spasms, but it seems though the FDA doesn't think prescribing something that works is a good idea! So now, once again, I need to go without them until hopefully my appeal goes through. Plus, I guess I'll be going through withdrawal symptoms since they only give you basically a 30-day warning that the insurance company will no longer cover them. Luckily for me, since I do take other opioids, it won't be as bad, but these are what help me function better, plus help me sleep. It's not outrageously high in cost, but with my disability check, which is not much, I can't afford to pay full price. That's what I thought insurance was for: well, duh on me! I have enough problems and don't need this."

Carisoprodol for Muscle Spasm "Works better than OxyContin. I have chronic chest pain from pleurisy, and this medicine allows me to be pain-free most of the time. Recently, I ran out for 3 days, and I had terrible withdrawal symptoms. I have been on it for 2 years, and I don't abuse it. I only take 1/2 a pill about 6 or 7 times a day to decrease the sleepiness. It's like all other controlled drugs, it is a double-edged sword, so be careful of withdrawal."

Carisoprodol for Muscle Spasm "I have used Soma off and on for many years, and never have I been addicted to it or had any withdrawal symptoms, even after using it for a year or more. When I felt I no longer needed it, I stopped the medication with no ill effects. It does work well for muscle spasms and aches."

Carisoprodol for Muscle Spasm "My doctor cut me off of Soma after taking it for over 14 years with her. She said she doesn't feel comfortable prescribing it anymore due to 'abuse potential.' I have multiple conditions that cause severe, lifelong, extreme chronic pain. Soma was one of the most effective medications I ever took. I don't know why she said the whole 'addictive' part to me. I get drug tested by this same doctor every appointment and have never (ever) had anything come back positive that I wasn't prescribed. Lastly, to disprove the whole withdrawal symptom thing - at least for me, after years of taking it, I have gone on and off of it before and up/down dosages to try and see if I could hold out taking less medication (No, I do not like taking a bunch of medicine all day long, but it is the *only* thing that makes me able to get out of bed and do anything except lay in bed, tortured all day/night)."

Carisoprodol for Muscle Spasm "So this is me: C4 5 6 discectomy. Multiple back and spine degenerative disease. Both arms neuropathy with hands and elbow nerves surgery. Chronic back pain and 17% total nerve damage. I was on Carisoprodol for 6 years, 1 350mg 3 times a day. I take Suboxone and gabapentin. Soma is a good muscle and sleep helper. Unfortunately, they no longer have this muscle relaxing medicine in Canada. Like Lyrica, the meds are not available in Canada. Such a shame because I was on major narcotics for nearly 2 decades. How can I possibly get this med in Canada knowing it is only available in America? Soma helped with acute pain, chronic pain, and sleep aid. Also, no side effects or withdrawal symptoms. I have tried everything doctors prescribed. Soma by far was a better helper than all the other powerful drugs that had forced me to take action. Been near 18 years since last I took Soma."

For Muscle Spasm "I have fibromyalgia. Bulging disc C2-C7 spinal neuroapthy. Stenosis. Plantar fasciitis, severe migraines. Lost my last job, could not take opioids or Xanax to stop pain and clear fibro fog. Had been in a bad accident in 1995. Pain level 10. Pain clinic doctor just told me to stop soma since I'm on opioids and morphine. Started tapering off. My MD told me yesterday soma is not going to be prescribed anymore. I haven't been having withdrawals, but my spasms are back to a 10. My sleep is disrupted again, and my sciatica is tightening up. I will be taking the new muscle relaxers, but nothing but soma and Zanaflex combined totally stopped spasms. I will take as prescribed, but it is taking the effectiveness of my pain meds. I also have depression, anxiety, panic, and PTSD."

For Muscle Spasm "I've been taking Soma for over 40 years for back pain. I've had 3 back surgeries. The first one, the doctor removed part of a ruptured disc, and the second one was an inter-body fusion for the same disc. I have degenerative disc disease. Now my insurance will not cover it. My doctor is appealing this. They did this before and it was accepted, but now it was denied. I have not found anything that works. I was taking 350 mg three times a day. I'm afraid of withdrawal symptoms if I have to go off them."
