"For years I suffered from plantar fasciitis in my heel. I could not even walk, the pain was so bad. I would have to hop on one foot to get around. I tried everything from hot soaks to ibuprofen and new shoes. I saw a free sample of lotion with capsaicin in it, 0.01% dose. I had read reviews of all the burning, so I had it for a month and never tried it. One day, the pain was so bad I gave it a whirl. Instant relief! No burning, no stinging, not even warmth. I can walk again very comfortably. I am so glad I learned of this medication. I do not understand why so many people experience burning and I did not... But you should try it. Oh, and if you live near a dollar store, they sell a 7' patch for $1. I got 6 uses out of $1."

"Tonight was my first night using this stuff, and I WILL NEVER EVER USE IT AGAIN!! The burning it gives off is horrible. I have tried everything to cool it down, and it seems like it's burning worse. I have to be to work at 7 in the morning, and here I am at 3:30 a.m. writing a review because I can't sleep due to the burning of this cream. I wouldn't recommend this shit to nobody. My skin is so irritated, it's red, and burning. I even took a cold towel to wrap around my legs, and it's still not working."

Capsaicin topical "I used this for knee pain per my doctor's recommendation. I read the instructions and applied the medication. It didn't relieve my pain, it caused more pain. Severe burning, stinging pain. Even showering to wash the medication off was painful. I had to use calamine lotion to counter the effects. Perhaps my skin is more sensitive than others out there, but I would use caution with this medication."

Capsaicin topical "I have rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in my left wrist and have been taking methotrexate for a year. I have been using capsaicin cream for a couple of months, a very small amount rubbed into the affected area, and can’t believe the response... it’s great. I get a slight burning sensation a couple of hours after I put the cream on, but otherwise no pain from the cream. My specialist said to reduce from 20 mg of methotrexate a week down to 10, but this week I am going to rely solely on the cream and see what happens... so far, so good."

"Okay, first of all, don't ever put capsaicin on using your bare hands. It will linger on your hands even after scrubbing them with soap and water. Use gloves and be careful you only get the cream where you need it. If you find the cream too painful, DO NOT try scrubbing it off, as this will not work. Water, especially with heat and steam, reactivates the heat in the capsaicin. Treat capsaicin cream the same way you would treat eating hot chile. Put sour cream, yogurt, or any other thick, milk-based product on it to settle the heat. I swear by capsaicin cream for pain. I use it on my back, hip, arthritic knee, just about anywhere that hurts. When I first used it, I would feel like my skin was very hot, but you actually start to get used to the heat."

"I began using Capsaicin-HP for severe pain from my neck to the top of my buttocks caused by fibromyalgia. I found it to decrease my pain as much or better than non-narcotic oral medications. Then I had an injury to my back, which required a lumbar spinal fusion at L5-S1. Capsaicin again helped my pain incredibly. I applied it every day, 2 to 4 times a day before surgery and then limited use to areas of my neck and back away from the incision until the site healed, then resumed use over my entire back. It does get very 'hot' at times, but I learned not to focus on that and realized that was the time it seemed to be removing pain the best. I am a nurse and eventually learned to allow it to 'heat,' which typically lasts about 30 minutes, and I got the best results."

"I can walk again! I had so much pain in my right knee, and nothing worked. Can't take Aleve. I tried this and put on way too much the first time. Burned like I was on fire. After, I use in very small doses. All I can say is it works. Took pain away, and I can traverse the stairs and walk with almost no pain. I like this better than taking pain meds. I highly recommend this."

"I’ve been using Zostrix HP 75 percent for a year on my lower back. At first, I thought I was on fire but persisted with it as my back was killing me. I put a tiny dot of cream on twice a day and now no burning at all, and back pain gone."

"I have bad sciatica. Lying in bed was the worst, and I've tried everything. Found this amazing capsaicin and haven't looked back. At first, I was putting on a fair bit, and the burning was unbearable, but found that sweating interacts, so now I put a tiny bit on, and now I have movement."

Capsaicin topical "I used Capzasin HP cream on my ankle and knee after a hard day's work. This cream has me on fire, and there is no relief. I tried washing it off, and it only made it worse. I have redness, swelling, and feel like my skin is on fire! And there is no relief! I do not recommend anyone to use this cream. It only causes more pain!"

Capsaicin topical "My doctor recommended this and said he uses it himself. Well, I bought the product and applied it at 7:00 a.m., and now it's been 15 hours later, and my back is literally on fire. I wouldn't recommend anyone buying this product. I've tried cold showers, ice, anything cold, and yet I'm on fire."

"I have arthritis in my knee. This works for pain, but under no circumstances go out in the sun while using it. Sun intensifies medication and feels like you have been stung by a jellyfish. If exposed to the sun, ice immediately and wash off."

"I just found out about Capzasin today and tried it for the first time for my fibromyalgia. I have OTC 0.025%, and while I have only been using it for a few hours, I am so excited to have found it. The burning sensation is mild compared to my pain and doesn't bother me in the least. I tried it on one thigh to start and make sure it didn't bother me too much. I had so much relief in the one leg I couldn't wait to use it on the other. My only complaint is the smell. It has a strong scent of menthol. I am in the most pain at night when trying to sleep, so I think I will use it then. I did read that showering can be uncomfortable but also that a milk compress helps."

"The effect takes a few hours to build, and it will be intense, but that's the mechanism. It breaks the pain signal cycle and distracts from other pain. Fantastic for muscle pain, spasms, nerve pain, chronic pain, arthritis, spine-related pain, once you learn how to use it. The pain feels like bad sunburn, but it is harmless if you don't show an allergy. Grin and bear it because it will retrain your body's pain receptors to dampen down other pains even after finishing using."

"I have RA and used the roll-on applicator around my thumb joint. Apparently, some of it spread onto my palm. It has been 27 hours since I applied it, and the pain has gotten worse. I can't sleep. I’ve tried vinegar, milk, oils, ice. For goodness sake, warn people."

Capsaicin topical "I had a muscular injury to my leg. I rubbed on the ointment, and the 'slight burning' the packaging warned of was a horrible burning that I could not remove with repeated washing with soap and water. The intense burning sensation went on for a few hours."

Capsaicin topical "Three separate people with different pains and causes all experienced terrible burning sensations. We honestly felt like our flesh and muscles were being cooked, roasted, prepared for a cannibalistic feast for unknown guests. I cannot recommend this for anyone, for any reason. There is no remedy to getting it off your skin; water reactivates it. I cannot understand why this is available. 'First, do no harm' should be revisited."

"I used this for the first time last night, and within one minute, my skin felt like I had lit it on fire! I followed the directions on the box to remove it, but I suffered for hours. My skin looked like I had sun poisoning. I almost made a trip to the ER. Today, my skin is still very tender. I made a bad situation much worse. Never, ever AGAIN!"

Capsaicin topical "I used Trixaicin HP for thoracic spine damage to the nerve root at the C5, C6 level (C6 root), causing numbness in my index finger and thumb. I used gloves and put the Trixaicin directly on the pain. That caused the Trixaicin to heat up so much it burned. Not unbearably, but it did cause me to wonder if it heated up worse on the pain because that was the most painful spot."

"The minor relief of shoulder joint pain that I had was more than offset by the burning of my skin. Water on my skin of any temperature felt like scalding water. Both my wife and sister-in-law experienced the same issues. Could not get it off fast enough. Dabbing it with rubbing alcohol seems to do a good job of getting it off your skin for nearly immediate relief. Not sure how they can continue to sell this."

"Yes, it burns, even worse after putting it on at night, then waking up and taking a shower in the morning. The water hitting it, oh my! I used capsaicin patches for nerve damage pain in my rib after a car accident. It worked, the more you use it, the more effective it was. I am now using it on my neck (cream). My PCP told me it is one of those medications that the more you use it, the more benefit you will get... and the less the burn. I am hoping the cream works as well on my neck as the patches did for my rib."

"I am currently in the worst pain ever, not from my knee pain but from this capsaicin - the burning sensation. I don’t care what you say, this stuff hurts and burns. I washed and washed, and ice doesn’t work - nothing works. I honestly would rather deal with bad knees before I ever put this on again. How the heck are they selling this stuff?"

Capsaicin topical "I do not recommend this product! I have nerve pain in my foot that hurts like crazy. I thought if I used this product, it would soothe the nerves with a little warmth. What I got was a full-on 4-alarm fire in my foot. I tried everything I read online to stop the burning. It took me 10 hours to get some relief from the INTENSE burning sensation. One thing it did do was make me forget about the pain in my foot because the only thing I could focus on was how to make the burning stop. I read that if you put vinegar on it, that it would help. I tried that and instantly got relief. You can use it if you want to, but beware the burning is very intense and taking cold showers will not help."

Capsaicin topical "Awful. Stay away from this product. I’ve never in my life experienced a pain quite like it. The burning sensation is absolutely crippling. Applied on my knees at 10 o’clock at night, it’s now 3am in the morning, and I’m up with wet towels, chamomile lotion, and Sudocrem trying to ease the pain. Literally feels like my skin is on fire. Highly considering dialing 999, the pain is that bad!"

"I have read several reviews regarding the capsaicin cream, and all I can say is it's absolutely great. Doctors and pharmacists need to teach people how to use this product. YOU ONLY USE THE SMALLEST AMOUNT, you do not need to use this product like a toothpaste amount. Use sparingly, and you will find you get the relief you require. I have spondylitis in my lower back, with the pain generating from there into my buttock, and without this product, life would not be worth living. Hope this helps those who have used it wrongly or someone in serious pain."
