Cabozantinib for Renal Cell Carcinoma "I was diagnosed in 2015. I have been on several different drug therapies. I have been on Cabometyx for 2 1/2 years after finding a tumor impeding my spinal cord. I am in stage 4. It has been the best drug for my situation. I am on 40 mg per day. Side effects for me were diarrhea, mouth issues, and severe joint pain. Tramadol has helped with the pain. I had an 8% chance of living 5 years. I will be starting my 9th year in June 2023."

For Renal Cell Carcinoma "I’m a 63-year-old male diagnosed with RCC in 2008 (I was 47 then). I had a left nephrectomy in 2008 and the RCC returned in my left lung in 2017. After surgery, the RCC returned in my left hilar lymph node and was inoperable. I started on 60 mg of cabozantinib daily in February of 2019. After 60 days, the tumor had shrunk from over 20 mm down to 12 mm. My son told me I looked like a ghost, but the drug was working. After 4 months, we reduced the cabozantinib dose from 60 mg to 40 mg. The 60 mg dose was more difficult and caused frequent diarrhea, peeling skin on my hands, and loss of energy. The 40 mg dose was more tolerable, and I continued on it for about a year - still had regular diarrhea and less energy, but mostly manageable. I have been on a 20 mg dose and just started my 7th year on this treatment. I don’t have the energy that I used to have, and my tumor has very slowly started to grow. It’s a great drug."

Cabozantinib for Renal Cell Carcinoma "I have been on this drug Cabometyx for 12 months. It’s doing what it's supposed to do, but after 11 months, I started to max on toxicity. Tried to drop dosage down to 40 mg, but didn’t work well. Symptoms for me were severe body acne, including scalp, tiredness, and mouth ulcers. No problem with upset stomach, diarrhea, or weakness in joints. Tried some other inhibitors like Inlyta and IL-2, but side effects were too much, and results of the scan were not very positive."

Cabozantinib for Thyroid Cancer "I felt miserable from the start of taking this medicine. It did more harm than good. I experienced severe diarrhea (watery and explosive). I experienced nausea at any given time of the day. I developed painful sores on the palm of my hands and on my ankles. It became difficult to brush my teeth, turn a doorknob, and even wash my hands. Any use of my hands was painful."

Cabozantinib for Renal Cell Carcinoma "I’ve been on Cabometyx for three years now. I was diagnosed with Stage 3 renal cell carcinoma 6 years ago that had metastasized to the bone, lung, and adrenal gland. I have done exceptionally well on Cabometyx with only occasional side effects such as diarrhea, thinning hair, and tiredness. My tumors have not decreased in size, but more importantly they have not grown. I am grateful that I, thus far, have not experienced any pain and still have a wonderful appetite. All in all, I am thankful that six years after diagnosis, I am still here and still have quality of life. I am truly blessed."
