For Allergic Rhinitis "I have non-allergic rhinitis and have anxiety, so I can't use steroids, so I thought I would give azelastine hydrochloride a try. Because I've been through months of drugs that made me worse, I was very cautious. So I put 2 squirts in my right nostril. Immediately, the congestion was worse. So I waited, and nothing. It dried my nose out so bad it would get stuck shut. I also woke up with a bad headache, tingling in my arms, and dizziness. Probably from not breathing well all night."

Azelastine nasal for Allergic Rhinitis "Based on most of the reviews, I was hopeful, but my experience was different from most. It increased my tinnitus to a loud buzz, and vertigo set in, and I almost vomited a few times. I will not be taking this again. I've tried Zyrtec, Allegra, Flonase, etc., and the only thing that really helps my allergies is diphenhydramine, but I keep reading it's not recommended to take it every day, so I'm not sure what to do."

For Allergic Rhinitis "I have had sinus CT scan, nasal endoscopy, allergy shots, extensive bloodwork, prescribed all sorts of nasal medicines, antibiotics, etc., and I am still experiencing puffy eyes, extremely dry eyes, sticky clear mucus. Nothing is working. I have seen 2 ENTs, 2 allergy/sinus doctors (chronic allergies, slight deviated septum, no surgery required), neurologists (cervicalgia), an ophthalmologist, and all I get is you are extremely dry. However, no one has been able to pinpoint the cause. I used to have seasonal allergies. Claritin would work. The past year, this has been ongoing. No relief. The head pressure and the thick sticky mucus not draining! I keep my mouth/nose covered everywhere I go. Recently, I was given Azelastine HCl nasal spray to try. I was dizzy/sleepy all day. The head pressure intensified, then the next morning when I woke up, my face/eyes were swollen, puffy, dry. It seems like it made my symptoms worse. At this point, I will continue the Neilmed Sinugator daily until I see my PCP."

For Allergic Rhinitis "I had a very extreme adverse reaction to azelastine. I took one spray in my right nostril. Immediately, I had intense nasal burning, terrible pressure over my sinuses, and a severe headache, muscle spasms in calves and shoulders, drowsiness, and increased blood pressure. Days later, I developed nerve irritation and occipital neuralgia and dizziness due to pinched nerves from the muscle spasms in my shoulders. My mouth became extremely dry with a bitter taste, but luckily that only lasted a couple of days. The occipital neuralgia has been the worst part. It has been almost two weeks, and I still have the neuralgia. Massage and stretching help relieve it temporarily, but then the pain comes back."

"I always jump to reviews because I want to see what side effects. I wanted to start slow with one squirt in each nostril. I'm super sensitive to meds. I became desperate for relief waiting to get into the ENT. Flonase wasn't doing enough, and the antibiotics failed. I'm worried about polyps or worse infection. I also had a steroid shot which didn't work. This is the generic for Astepro, and it definitely helps. I still have what appears to be a blockage at the right nasal cavity, which is concerning me, but it did take my congestion down. Side effects. The only thing I've noticed is minor dizziness so far. It's been an hour, and I only used 1 squirt in each nostril. I'd start with a low dose and see how it affects you. I used Flonase two hours prior. Also, the dizziness was very minor and could be related to how bad my infection is in my sinuses or some other issue. I'm a bad case right now, can't wait to see what's going on."
