Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I'm 14 years old, and I've been on Adderall for 4 weeks now, and I've experienced some side effects. One of them would be loss of appetite, especially in the morning and around lunch. I've already gone from being 117 to 111. That's not natural, my friend has the same problem too. I prefer Adderall, though, because my doctor told me that Vyvanse lasts for 12 hours, and if you take it at 12 or 1 on the weekends, then you can't sleep till 12 or 1 in the morning. Adderall doesn't cause insomnia if you take it at 12 because it only lasts for 4-8 hours. Adderall really helps me pay attention in school, which is why I'm not failing out of my 'College Prep School.' Totally recommend Adderall 100%."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I just recently started taking Adderall XR, and even though my doctor and I are still trying to find the right dose, I have already noticed a major difference. Since I've started taking it, I've been able to get lost in books for the first time because I can actually focus without having to make myself. I have noticed a decrease in appetite, but it seems more like a newly developed aversion to high-calorie foods, and I'm wondering if that's not because of the added stimulation from the carbohydrates. Either way, I think it's important for everyone to remember there is no magic pill, and in order to get the best results, you have to change your lifestyle too. Like making sure to get 8 hours of sleep, eat foods high in fiber, and cut back on sugar."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "What's throwing me off is seeing many experiences saying they couldn’t feel Mydayis working for 4+ hours. It starts off with a small instant release, so I do feel mine working right away. Side effects are different for everyone, but for comparison purposes: Adderall XR 30 mg worked 6-7 hours, then sleepiness and a hard coming down/depressed feeling, loss of appetite, calming effect - helped rationalize my emotions effectively. Mydayis: 12 hrs, still feel working within first 30-60 mins like Adderall, my appetite came back with this, no coming down feeling, but the overall effectiveness of helping with focusing sometimes isn’t as much. I’ve thought about increasing, but I’d like to see about therapy for self-management or at least a low dose. The doc also said if this dose doesn’t work as well that we’d switch to Vyvanse, which is one I haven’t tried, so I’m afraid to switch. Overall, this one has worked best for me, but I am looking at healthier avenues in the near future."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Adderall has changed my life. I have so much more energy, I'm more alert, and can stay focused on tasks a lot easier. However, I notice when it is starting to wear off, I get really moody. So, I make sure I'm not around people when that's the case. I was really worried about becoming dependent, so at least once or twice a week, I don't take it at all to make sure I'm not addicted. Another warning, don't take this after 1 p.m. You will be up all night. It sucks. Your body will be so tired, and you'll want to go to sleep, but your mind is just alert and wide awake! It really suppresses the appetite too, but the longer you take it, the less effect it has!"

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I was prescribed Vyvanse chewable 30 mg in the AM and 30 at noon. I loved it, but had a month where I didn't take it regularly at noon. Dr. suggested this because of the extended release. Two weeks in: my sleep is concerning. I haven't hit REM in three days now. I have no appetite, even in the AM before I take the Mydayis. I have to force-feed myself, even ice cream is a struggle after the third bite. The two to three hours after I take it, I feel lost, can't track conversations, no/minimal recall, I can't even prioritize. After those hours, things level out a bit, but I don't have the motivation I had with Vyvanse. I believe there is a link between loss of quality sleep and struggling to meet my dietary requirements and how the drug affects me."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Adderall XR has changed my life! For years, I have struggled with depression and anxiety, no motivation, mood swings, and couldn't focus on any task. I was diagnosed with ADD/Bipolar when I was 19-20ish (26 now and mom of 1). I have struggled through so many years not knowing after several doctors and tons of medicines or medication combinations. I was put on Vyvanse from 30-50mg over a period of 2 years. It worked well for me. In the beginning, I had dry mouth and palpitations. My coverage stopped paying for it. The doctor tried me on Strattera and Concerta (not together). After several months, I was just still always sick, with stomach cramps, headaches, etc. About 3 years now I've been on Adderall XR 30mg, and I still have dry mouth and loss of appetite. Other than that, it has helped me to be a 'normal' person and a loving, motivated mother."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I take the XR, and it allows me to focus throughout the day at work and in classes. I can actually sit down and complete a task, I can get something done (for once), and the only side effects I really experienced were a bit of dry mouth at first and some continued loss of appetite. Otherwise, completely effective. Unfortunately, my insurance company only covers the brand name. Otherwise, it would be much, much cheaper. It's the brunt of my monthly prescription costs."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "My son was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 2. He is now 11. We have tried changing his diet, herbal remedies, Vyvanse, Strattera, and several others. The thing that has worked without causing headaches is Adderall XR. He does have a loss of appetite, but his behavior and ability to concentrate are definitely worth it."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I've been on Adderall since I was in high school, so about 5 years. It works well for my concentration and allows me to focus for an extended period of time, such as when studying. This medicine has definitely helped me, but it has a lot of side effects. For me, loss of appetite, euphoria, and dry mouth are the most common. Headaches are frequent, but nothing ibuprofen can't fix. I've been on and off antidepressants that affected the Adderall. When I was on Lexapro, taking Adderall would make me irritable, anxious, and paranoid, sometimes to a full-blown panic attack. Now I'm on Prozac, and the Adderall combination is fine. But I still get anxious and mildly irritable when the 'high' of the Adderall decreases."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "10 days into Mydayis. I have no appetite even in the AM before I take the Mydayis, 50 mg. I have to force-feed myself, even ice cream is a struggle after the 3rd bite. After I take it, I feel lost, can't track conversations, no/minimal recall, I can't even prioritize. My production at work is half of what it was when I was on Vyvanse 60 mg. I don't have any motivation. I want to do things, I just can't. All the feelings of being lazy, feeling bad about myself, despair, and no motivation have come back. I feel agitated and feel that I get angry much faster. My anxiety is worse than it was when I was on Vyvanse. I am constantly bouncing 1 or both of my legs and only bounced them a little when I was on Vyvanse. I am calling my Dr. 1st thing in the morning, and I hope that she puts me back on Vyvanse. There is a shortage of Adderall and Vyvanse right now, so I am hoping I can get it. While Mydayis is only about $3 a month, it isn't worth the savings."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I am a 23-year-old male, 175 lbs, on Adderall 20 mg XR. Great tool. Motivation and self-esteem, awesome boost. Focused and better moods. Persistent anxiety lessened. Some grogginess, but manageable so long as you eat appropriately. Minor loss of appetite. Been on Strattera and Lexapro in the past, no comparability to Adderall XR! Absolutely recommend to others and parents."

For ADHD "This review is only for Amneal generic Adderall XR 15mg and 20mg. Recently switched from 10mg generic XR Sandoz to 15-20mg generic XR Amneal. Sandoz worked really well for me, though it made me irritable coming off of it. I had to switch to a higher dose, and everyone I called within a 15-25 mile radius had Lannet and Amneal for those doses, so I got stuck with the latter. I get absolutely no boost to concentration with Amneal 15mg or 20mg. I do notice an energy increase and a suppressed appetite. I eliminated possible other explanations for the lack of focus, reduced screen time, increased sleep to 9 hours, ate healthy, but still no noticeable effects after several weeks. I'm thinking the brand is a wash. I've tried multiple manufacturers, and I can say that Actavis and Sandoz worked for me the best. Luckily, I'm in a good place financially, so I'm going to pay 2.5k a year to try the name brand."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Since I started taking 15 mg of Adderall XR about 2 weeks ago, I feel like it's changing my life for the better. I can't say it is having a huge impact on me, but I can definitely notice a difference when I'm on it as opposed to when I'm not. My concentration has definitely improved. I can stay on the same thought pattern a lot easier and also follow through with the task at hand. I feel more aggressive towards events that happen, it definitely gives me a different outlook. The only symptoms that I am getting with Adderall XR are a loss of appetite. It's really strange how I went from having a huge appetite to just not even thinking about eating or making it a priority. I don't like it, but it saves me a bit of money."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I'm 18 and have been taking Adderall XR 30 mg for 10 years now. When I take it, I can focus on schoolwork and my job and actually succeed. I like being able to do well in school and work, but lately, the side effects have seemed to intensify like crazy. I'd always experienced the loss of appetite, but now the sweating, anxiety, and depression are all starting to wreak havoc on my life. I'm not sociable at all when I'm on this medication. I feel like I'm more of a robot. And if I get distracted for a second and start something else, I will focus on that instead of getting my work done. I've tried other medications in the past, but none do the job like Adderall."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "This medicine is amazing. I used to always be the last one to turn in tests in high school. Now I take one in the morning and, in about an hour, feel like I am my true self. With it, I can process information clearly, easily, and very efficiently. Now I have no problems with writing essays, answering in-depth questions, or second-guessing myself. I even found that I am a lot more confident with many things (ranging from presentations to girls). I also take much better care of myself throughout the day, except when it comes to eating, for I do experience the loss of appetite. To describe it, it is almost like an auto tune-up program, except for your brain! Adderall is absolutely great for me!"

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I'm an 18-year-old girl, and I have ADD along with Bipolar/Schizoaffective disorder. Because I have psychotic symptoms, the highest dose of Adderall I can take is 30 mg. My problem is it doesn't keep me focused more than 3 hours or so because the dose is low, and even though it's a low dose, I can't seem to eat at all. I've been struggling with my weight for a while due to hyperthyroidism. I'm 5'00" and 89-95 lbs. My goal weight is 100. I can't afford to lose more weight. The risks are outweighing the very minimal benefits."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Switched from Concerta to Mydayis for the longer duration mechanism Mydayis offers. Was started on 25 mg of Mydayis. ADD symptoms improved, but I experienced dry mouth, dizziness, heart increase, and appetite decrease, which subsided after the first week. Second week, I felt like the dose was not effective. Doc switched me to 37.5 mg of Mydayis, and so far symptoms of ADD improved, but side effects are rough. Dry mouth, headache, dizziness, lack of appetite, increased anxiety. I’m on day 4 or 5, so hoping the side effects subside when my body adjusts to the higher dose... fingers crossed."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine "My cardiologist, who diagnosed me with dysautonomia, prescribed me Adderall in high school because my symptoms included extreme fatigue, brain fog, and bad orthostatic hypotension. He did not warn me about all the side effects I would experience (due partly to the fact that I do not have ADHD), and I was given a high dose to start. It did help with my fatigue and immensely improved my focus (can’t complain there, I was hyper-focused), brain fog, and hypotension, but there were some questionable side effects I experienced for the almost two years I took it: complete lack of appetite, significant weight loss, resting tachycardia, and angina (my dysautonomia makes my HR very high to begin with). Overall, it definitely improved my quality of life for a time, but it seems like a questionable Rx for people with this condition who are hyperadrenal, already experiencing an overactive sympathetic ANS, and have a high HR due to the cardio effects."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I was diagnosed with ADHD at age 17 and only really started taking stimulant medication after I had turned 20 last year. I was originally trying out varying doses of IR but started trying XR in the past few months. Overall: hit or miss for me. It does help with my focus, but the side effects and how much it helps varies pretty drastically depending on the day. Biggest side effects are dehydration, lack of appetite, potentially crashing at night (normal). I also feel a bit uncomfortable sometimes (anxiety-ish twitchy feeling), but that's not very common. The Mallinckrodt brand I was switched to recently seems maybe a bit more hit or miss, honestly, I can't really tell that much of a difference (unlike people on opioids who swear that Mallinckrodt is awful). I'm on 25 mg for now, and I'm gonna keep seeing how I feel in the coming weeks. Helps with ADHD no doubt, but do be wary of the side effects."

For ADHD "It has helped me very much, but I do get a couple of side effects that really annoy me. I get really bad insomnia, my heart beats extremely fast, and I lose my appetite completely. With that said, it is a good medicine and works for some, but to others, it may not be what works for them."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I started on Ritalin for ADHD, but I switched to Adderall because the Ritalin made me extremely irritable. Adderall 20 mg allows me to concentrate, tune out distractions, and manage time efficiently. Negative side effects: suppressed appetite (positive for me!), sometimes slightly irritable mood towards the end of the day, sleeplessness if I take it less than 12 hours before bedtime."

For ADHD "I have previously taken Strattera, Vyvanse, Adderall XR, and Ritalin. Adderall IR has had the best mix between effectiveness and side effects for me. It's not perfect by any means, but generally 12.5 mg 2x a day works well for me. Still get appetite loss, increased heart rate, and a bit of chest tension. Plus, worsening sleep through the week, but the benefits still outweigh all that."

For ADHD "Prescribed 20 mg x 2. Been on it for 2 months now, and I'm weighing the pros and cons. I fell back to ONE 20 mg per morning. 2 20 mg was too much. Granted, it helps with focus, memory, and makes me a bit outgoing. But at the price of loss of appetite, weak erection, dry mouth, headaches, weakness and muscle cramps, sweating, and a few other nagging issues. It's not the first time for me on this med or groups. They really are convenient for some of my issues, but at a cost. Not so sure if I want my focus and thought process restored at the cost it brings me in the other areas."

For Narcolepsy "I take in between 10-20 mg amphetamine/dextroamphetamine IR daily for narcolepsy. Effects on my body: Overall wakefulness: improved a lot, although you can still feel the sleepiness sitting just behind the medicine. I just don’t fall asleep. Memory: I already notice a better ability to recall things, both short and long-term, probably because I’m actually storing the information now in periods of wakefulness, whereas before much of the day I was in a state of confusion from falling in and out of sleep. Appetite: significant reduction. Before, I would go to work and not eat anything and go through intense hunger pangs, where my stomach would physically hurt because I hadn’t eaten in over 16 hours. Weight loss: 10 lbs loss in 6 weeks. Mental state/mood: same. Sleep attacks: has cut out attacks entirely on my 20 mg/day. Addiction/urge?: I imagine the physical tolerance will build, but I do not feel a hint of addiction, nor do I think I ever will. Interactions: contact a doctor before putting any supplement or OTC in your body."
