For Osteoporosis "I was apprehensive about taking this Tymlos injection because I’m always sensitive to medications. I took the shot Thursday night at 9:15, immediately had lightheadedness and fatigue, heart palpitations. The heart palpitations went away, lightheadedness and fatigue stayed. I went to bed at 11 pm, was awakened by horrible reflux at 3 am. Fell back to sleep, was awakened at 5 am, severe pain in my entire head, teeth, gums, etc. Sat up to get Tylenol and was totally blind in my left eye. I woke my husband, he took me to the emergency room. Spent 7 hours being tested, 2 CT scans, expert eye examinations, neurological testing, blood tests, all normal tests. I try never to take pain medication because it makes me nauseous, but they said it would be baby doses. Ok. Well, wound up dry heaving for 3 hrs. Finally released, went home. Once pain meds wore off, pain in head started again. I took 2 gabapentins, 2 Xanax, and slept all night. I woke up Saturday morning, same pain in head, the pain jumps all around."

For Osteoporosis "I've been on Tymlos for only 1 month. I had a spinal fracture in the past, as well as multiple other fractures from falling from a standing position. Anyway, I have back pain from fractures, but the back pain on Tymlos was so severe that I have stopped it. I had a headache after the injection, so I just took Tylenol. Fatigue was another problem, along with nausea. I took Zofran. I will ask my doctor to try Prolia. Oh, I am 69, diagnosed at 50 with osteoporosis, but was always afraid of side effects. Good luck."

For Osteoporosis "Tymlos is the worst drug ever. Took it for a little over 2 months. Extreme nausea almost immediately every day. Migraine every day. Daily, between 3 and 4 PM, every joint ached so bad I had to lay down. Constantly felt like I had the flu. Or like I was on chemo. I have been off of it for over 2 months yet still have symptoms that I didn't have before taking it. I am afraid permanent damage has been done. Going to try a tablet next. This medication should be taken off the market. Oh wait, big pharma doesn't care about you, it's all about that dollar."

For Osteoporosis "I am just finishing 2 years of Tymlos injections! I had a recent bone density test, and I have gone from osteoporosis level to osteopenia. I haven't met with my MD yet, but from what I can tell in the report, I have had a 19.1% increase in bone mineral density of the lumbar spine compared to the baseline exam. I have definitely experienced side effects with this drug, but it has been manageable. One of the effects for me, which no one else has complained of, is loss of appetite. I can't wait to be done to see if it returns. My MD doesn't believe it is from the drug, but the only way to know is to stop it and see if it improves. We almost considered this halfway through taking the drug, but I decided I just didn't want to interrupt the process. I also do get a pounding heartbeat/racing heart after I take it, and I do have waves of nausea during the day from time to time. Now I have to try to maintain the density increase. Next drug is Reclast."

For Osteoporosis "On Tymlos for 1 month. Won’t make 2 years on this med. Probably only another month, then switching to Prolia, even though I know it doesn’t build bone. With Tymlos, the constant headache, palpitations, and nausea are very unsettling. However, the bone/muscle pains the last few days have been the last straw. Can’t sleep. Can’t get comfortable."

For Osteoporosis "Just began using my third pen. Was recommended using Tymlos 2-1/2 years ago but was fearful of the side effects. After a recent DEXA scan, my numbers had not changed after trying it my way (bone-strengthening supplements and exercise). Numbers were still bad -4.9+. I’m a hiker and walker and very active, so decided it was time. So far, the only side effect is an occasional rise in heart rate. A slight headache during my first week and recently, occasional bone pain in different areas of my body that come and go. Have had a bit of nausea over the last week but unsure if it’s from the Tymlos or bioidentical hormones I was recently prescribed. For me, the side effects have not been so bad that I’m willing to risk discontinuing. I need to rebuild bone, and this is the choice I have. I use the full dose of 80 mg every morning, easy to inject, relax for a bit, and then proceed through my day."

For Osteoporosis "I am completing 21 months of Tymlos injections for osteoporosis. I take my injection just before bed. I have had some reactions, but nothing I can't live with. Some racing of the heart periodically, but it settles quickly, some nausea, especially at first, and on the days I am a bit foggy, and I just say I am having a 'cloudy day.' All in all, the minimal side effects do not compare to my hope for living the fullest life I can. I also saw that there is a Tymlos Savings Card (and also financial assistance, but with my Tymlos Savings card and Insurance) I have not paid anything out of pocket for the injection pens, needle caps, alcohol pads, etc. My co-pay after Insurance was $900 a month."

For Osteoporosis "I was on Tymlos for about 5 weeks — I gave it a good try. I had to inject at night before bed because of the palpitations and nausea — but then I dreaded going to bed. The main symptom that has bothered me so much and still is after being off it for a week is bone pain, which I did not have before. It wakes me up at night. I hope it goes away. I’ll be starting Prolia soon and hope to have fewer side effects."

For Osteoporosis "I was on Tymlos for a month and a half. The first week, I noticed no side effects. Then, I had the most painful lower back spasms and pain, which actually took me to the floor screaming in pain. This occurred about 7 times, then subsided to occasional and tolerable lower back pain. I had never experienced lower back pain before taking this drug. I began having daily nausea and aching joints all over my body, especially in my hands, wrists, elbows, and feet. At times, this joint pain was almost unbearable. My hair became very brittle. I felt as if I had a UTI, and when my urine was tested at the doctor's office, no infection showed, but blood was detected in my urine. I really thought I was losing my mind. This is my third day of not administering the drug, and I am feeling better, but I am still having the lower back pain and joint pain like I have never had to endure before in my life. I am praying my body completely recovers from this drug. My advice is to AVOID Tymlos."

For Osteoporosis "I've only been on Tymlos for about a month, and the headaches and full spine have gradually increased in pain. I've felt as though I've gotten worse since I started. My bones hurt worse and get even worse when trying to sleep, and when my bladder has the least urge to urinate, it seems to increase the pain. Still not feeling better, or well for that matter. It seems the side effects explained are lasting throughout the day and night. Should I just stop using it? As it has, in hand, made it more difficult to eat, as the pain and dizziness are over the top. Nauseous all the time."

For Osteoporosis "I am two weeks into my Tymlos injections. Side effects have included palpitations, increased heart rate, nausea, and fatigue. The fatigue has been the hardest part so far. But I am in my early 30s and have sustained 20+ non-traumatic fractures, so I feel that this is my only option at this point. I am hopeful to see what my next DEXA looks like."

For Osteoporosis "Just started 3 weeks ago after breaking 6 bones in 6 months, I am 57. First week, severe dizziness, headache, and nausea. The dizziness got better after the first week. The headache is daily, the bones hurt at night when I do the injection and am very cold for a few hours, and cannot sleep. Seem very fatigued."

For Osteoporosis "I have been on Tymlos for 5 months. I noticed after the first few injections a pressure sensation at the top of my spine, which has continued to get worse. It starts about 3 minutes after injecting the medicine. I have severe osteoporosis and have tried very hard to deal with side effects. They now include severe headache with nausea and vomiting. Since I have had Meniere's disease for many years, I thought at first that was the problem, so I started a log of what was happening. It seems to be similar to the vertigo of Meniere's, but it is different. My quality of life has deteriorated simply because of this medication. Yesterday was the last dose I am going to take. The migraine-like headache and severe dizziness and vomiting are just too much to deal with on a daily basis."

For Osteoporosis "I am on my second pen. I have experienced palpitations, nausea, and headache, which are tolerable. But, I have the bone pain others mentioned. The pain occurs randomly, in different areas: ankle, hip, legs, etc. I too had an episode of back pain, I thought I fractured my spine, but it resolved in 24 hours. I also notice that the first void after injecting is cloudy. Has anyone experienced that? Also, each injection burns, has anyone else experienced that?"

For Osteoporosis "I've been on Tymlos for 15 months now. Broke 3 bones in a year after being on Actonel for over 10 years for Osteoporosis. Recent bone density shows 18% improvement in my hip, but lately been having lots of back pain. Doc said it's arthritis, but it's been much worse in the last few months, and I'm wondering if it's from Tymlos. Doc wants me to continue for another year, but I'm concerned. Initially had nausea when I started, and I can feel my bones being sore too. Anyone else experience symptoms this far into treatment?"
