For Bipolar Disorder "I take ziprasidone 40 mg at night, and it works great. I’m free from depression and mania. Only downside is side effects such as tremor and feeling of crawling under the back of my skin. I think the medicine doesn’t last until the next dose. I’m planning on asking my doctor if she would prescribe it twice a day instead of once a day."

For Bipolar Disorder "I take 160 mg/d ziprasidone for bipolar and anxiety. It works pretty well. No side effects so far except that it’s made me stop getting my period, and I go into withdrawal and get very nauseous and shaky if I forget to take a dose. I was hoping it would help my severe insomnia, but it doesn’t really make me tired. My mood is a lot more level, though, and my anxiety has improved."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "This drug is a life ruiner. Within a few days of medication, it gave me a bad reaction with: blurred vision, headache, gastrointestinal issues, tremors, restless legs, nausea, and of course, OCD. I've never had obsessive-compulsive disorder since I was a kid, but after this drug, YES. I've tried several therapies, but none of them had success. After years, I still haven't found a cure, and I still suffer from OCD, with an inability to do everything. If I see a TV show, a game, Facebook, the Internet, YouTube, reading a book, or an article, everything triggers obsessions and consequently compulsions. I live with constant anxiety and fears, and the blame came all from this 'medicine.' I want my life back, my tranquility back. Stay away from this drug if you want to live and safely."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "I'm on lamotrigine, which stopped all the depression. However, on it alone, I still got hypersexuality, a desire to spend, and hear voices. I have had anger outbursts and slipped into past trauma because I also have CPTSD. The ziprasidone cleared my thinking almost straight away. I no longer have the other symptoms. It calms me. It helped a bit with sleeping, but I now take prazosin for sleeping. Unfortunately, I put on possibly 5 kg, not too bad. I can't take a high dose because I get restless and have a very tight jaw. I can only take 20 mg at night. I tried 40 mg but got shaky and couldn't drive. I'm very sensitive to meds, though, and given I'm on lamotrigine, I guess I only need the ziprasidone to stop the voices, hypomania, and hypersexuality, which it's doing. I highly recommend it."

For Bipolar Disorder "This medication made me a fat mess. My doctor prescribed it, saying that it does not cause weight gain. I took it along with a low dose of pregabalin, and my stomach got huge due to the pregabalin as well as this drug. It made me constipated, and even after stopping pregabalin, I couldn't lose weight. I had to stop ziprasidone and switched back to Rexulti. This medication also made me super anxious. I couldn't stop shaking when I would wake up in the mornings, and even after stopping it, I still feel a sense of panic and dread when I wake up, but it's going away. Thank God for Rexulti."

Ziprasidone for Schizophrenia "It helped me with all my hallucinations. I stopped hearing things more. I still went through disturbed racing thoughts, though. Shakiness still occurs."

Ziprasidone for Bipolar Disorder "Geodon was a lifesaver at first. But after three months, I have developed leg twitches. I'm going to see my doctor on Wednesday to find out how to get off this medication. The twitching is awful."

Ziprasidone for Schizoaffective Disorder "Awful. Twitching, jerking, sadness to the extreme. Low output of urine. Made things unbearable due to movements and heart racing. Sweating was like a sauna. Do not recommend."

Ziprasidone "I was started on Geodon in 2017 while hospitalized for suicidal ideation. It helped. In 2019, I started to gain weight. I found myself dull and was sleeping for 14 hours a night. I thought, well, this is better than being hospitalized, right? I noticed if I was even 5 minutes late taking it, I felt awful. Here it is 2022, and after my best friend of 38 years died after a 10-month long gruesome battle with cancer, I barely cried. I knew something had to change. I have gained 113 pounds since 2019. I have been weaning from 60 mg to 40 mg for 4 weeks under doctor's supervision, and it is a living nightmare. I am shaky, sweaty, nauseous, have the chills, cannot sleep, and have nightmares. I have no idea how I am going to get off this medication completely. It may take months. This is a nasty medication, and I would recommend for anyone considering taking it to research the side effects and ask your doctor a lot of questions about it."
