For Insomnia "To be honest, I don't know what I'd do if this drug didn't exist. Yeah, it's certainly got its risks, but if you've got sleep onset insomnia and the trazodone, antihistamines, and everything else you've tried has failed, don't be afraid to give Sonata a try. Even the smallest dose available helps me, which is kind of surprising, considering that doxylamine and hydroxyzine both crapped out after less than a month, trazodone barely did anything, and diphenhydramine always left me drowsy the next day and had a tendency to make me oversleep, not to mention that it takes 50 to 75mg combined with melatonin to do anything. Sonata works wonders for me. Just don't take it every night, since it can get less effective if you do."

For Insomnia "At 10 mg, does not relax, trigger any symptoms not limited to no impact of drowsiness. Followed ritual of no alcohol, warm shower, no electronics, limited sex, no food, don’t smoke, no exercise, no TV several hours after taking script to give it every chance to help :) Ineffective: Waste of money."

Sonata (zaleplon) "I took Tylenol PM for several years and then I started needing more help. I was not able to go to sleep and stay asleep. My doctor prescribed Sonata. It is mostly wonderful. My doctor prescribed 10 mg. If I take 10 mg, I have terrible nightmares. So I take 5 mg about an hour and a half before I go to bed. It does not work immediately on me. I also take 2 Tylenol PM tablets. Sonata helps me go to sleep and Tylenol PM helps me to stay asleep. Even if I wake up in the middle of the night to go to the restroom, I usually don't have difficulty going back to sleep."

For Insomnia "I've been struggling with 3 AM racing heart wake-ups that make it hard to go back to sleep, and hoped this would be just the drug: short half life, quick onset, seemingly low dose. Unfortunately I got almost no benefit and plenty of side effects. I do get a little sleepier after I take this, but I don't sleep any more (~1-2 hours) than I do just trying to get back to sleep on my own and I feel MUCH worse the next day: anxious, cognitively useless, and more tired than I am after my normal insomnia. The cognitive effects are mild but a little alarming: I make so many sloppy mistakes, can't recall words, forget chores I walked in a room to do (absent-mindedness, not dementia), can't keep things in mind, etc. Haven't suffered these downsides on any other sleep meds and see no upside to this one, so I won't take it again."

For Insomnia "I have GAD and always had trouble sleeping, not so much falling asleep but I wake up about 10 times a night. I can't take any of the hypnotics or even benadryl because they make my anxiety worse. My Dr. Prescribed Zalepon over a year ago 10 mgs 2 times a night if needed and it worked wonders. It's been a long time since I have needed it but it seems to be when the seasons change & it gets dark early. This time around I have taken it now 3 times and it felt like it did the opposite and kept me awake all night. I thought it may be bc I ate late or bc I was expecting it to knock me out and I didn't feel a thing. Trying it again one more time on an empty stomach, hoping that will do the trick."

For Insomnia "Works very well for me. It even helps me get in a good mood before going to sleep. I fall asleep fast, stay asleep all night, rest well, and waken some what refreshed having received good night's sleep. If I do wake during the night I find I am able to go right back to sleep with no issues."

For Insomnia "I tried zaleplon over 3 years ago. It did not work and made me feel strange. After trying 2 others I finally got Triazolam .25mg. What a world of difference. Been using it for 3+ years. It's rating is 3 points higher then Zaleplon. Triazolam has given me no side effects."

For Insomnia "I was prescribed this drug for insomnia. I never felt it kick in, so as an experiment I stayed up waiting to feel it. I never did. When I took it before bed I found waking and functioning the next morning rougher than the time I hadn't been on the medication. I stopped this medication because I felt worse taking it."

Sonata (zaleplon) for Insomnia "I have had insomnia since I was a teenager. By having little sleep made me susceptible to being sick a lot as a young woman. Once I was prescribed Luniest by my Psychopharmacologist, it really helped but over many years I became kind of "Immune" to it. My Doctor recently prescribed Sonesta and I love it. It is gentle and does not leave a hangover. I take it before I go to bed and it usually helps me right away."

For Insomnia "This zaleplon has worked for me at times, sometimes for periods of 6 months. Other times it does absolutely nothing & I go back on Ambien, which usually works for me IF I stop everything & lay down to let myself sleep. I have switched back & forth from Ambian to Zaleplon with periods of just cleansings out & giving up on sleep with an accepting attitude & doing without. Usually Ambien is better for me but I have seen a friend go absolutely hallucinating crazy on one Ambien once so I know for a fact there are some people who cannot tolerate this drug. It’s never affected me that way. Just helped me go to sleep but has never helped me stay asleep for an entire 7-8 hours, ever! Neither of the medications."

For Insomnia "I saw the reviews, and though nah, it’ll do me good. HA! Y’all were right!! I’ve been on 5 different sleep aids plus over the counter stuff. Ambien quit working. Lunesta gave me a hangover. Seroquel sent me to ICU.(awful drug!) Remeron nope! Gabapentin no, but did help with nerve issues because of my neck. And now Zaleplon(Sonata). With the first 2 I slept through the night. The others, just couldn’t sleep. So on to this....well....got to sleep, but this I swear has an alarm clock saying “WAKE UP!”"

For Insomnia "I suffer from high anxiety and manic depression. I have had trouble getting to sleep for years and sometimes would go days without sleep causing insomnia on top of everything I deal with making me feel like I'm going nuts. After being up 3 days straight I broke down told my doctor I needed something to help me sleep and be gave me zaleplon. I thought sure why the hell not, worst thing that could happen is it doesn't work right? Turns out it not working was the worst thing that happened. Not only did the crap not work but I stayed up a 4th night waiting for it to make me tired. I might as well have taken nothing. At least with nothing you're not anticipating things that won't come. Man, benadryl works better than this. Waste of time and money"

"Overall this drug does help me sleep. My only problem with Sonata is that I wake up feeling groggy and somewhat like I have a "hangover". I feel that it also lost it's effectivness the longer I have been on it. I do however, like that it lasts for a 4 hour window of time versus the traditional 8 hour."

For Insomnia "5mg dose does nothing for me. This is the second occasion I've tried it and it's not working for me. I'll check with my doctor to see if I need a higher dose. I previously had 10mg of stilnoct a European brand. One of those and I was out ten mins later."
