For Major Depressive Disorder "First time using an antidepressant this long. I have tried others and couldn't stay on them for more than one day because of terrible dizziness and other strange side effects. I'm only on 5 mg because I have a low tolerance for any type of medication. I did experience some nausea, but I sleep well and feel a lot better than I did before taking this. If you are also someone who doesn't believe in antidepressant medicine but has tried natural alternatives that haven't worked, I would definitely give this a try on a low dose. Very good medication!"

For Depression "Started on it about eight weeks ago with 10 mg. I went in to a new psychiatrist complaining of anxiety issues related to a stressful job, etc. At the same time, I was weaned off Prozac, which I had taken for the last 15 years. Terrible dizziness is now recurring on a daily basis to the point I cannot even safely drive. A wave of lightheadedness overcame me while driving in heavy traffic on an urban interstate a couple of days ago. Fortunately, I was able to get off and go home on local roads with the windows down. I thought it might have been the Allegra antihistamine, which I have taken for a long time without feeling dizzy. Stopped Allegra, continued with Trintellix, still dizzy symptoms."

For Depression "Female, 46 yrs, depression for ~10 yrs. I went on Trintellix 10 mg at the end of January, and from the very first day, I've been dizzy and nauseous. Yesterday, the nausea was at its worst. I also take Vyvanse 50 mg for ADD and hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg for high blood pressure, plus another BP med. Shortly after going on Trintellix, I started to develop bruising on my upper thighs as well as itching. I think as I scratch, I end up bruising, and it looks awful. I contacted my doc and am still waiting for a reply. Hopefully, I'll be taken off of it and will go back to Cipralex and Wellbutrin, even though my libido has improved somewhat. At least I'm not crying at the drop of a dime as happens when I don't take any meds at all. Good luck, everyone!"

For Depression "My doctor tried me on this when it first came out. I'm unusually sensitive to medications, so we started at 5 mg/day. It worked great for about a week. Side effects of nausea, blurry vision, dizziness, and itching were bothersome but manageable. We then upped it to 10 mg a day. Again, it worked for about a week and then stopped. The nausea was horrible. I was taking it at bedtime with a small snack and Zofran (for nausea), and it still made me sick. I would wake up nauseous and with my feet/ankles itching intensely. Benadryl or other allergy meds would not help. It would last about an hour and then go away...until the next morning. Had to stop after 2 months from the horrible side effects. By that time, it had no effect on the depression whatsoever."

"I was out on 5 mg of Trintellix for anxiety and have only taken it for 3 days, and the side effects are awful. I quit taking it as of tonight. I can hardly walk, and it gave me a headache, severe dizziness, sweating, and insomnia. This medication is awful and do not recommend it to anyone. I will try other ways to deal with my anxiety/dizziness."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I take 5 mg per day of Trintellix. I take 10 mg as needed. I have cut the 10 mg in half and I have also taken just the 5 mg pill. This is my first experience with antidepressants. I did try a generic Prozac but only for 2 days, as it gave me anxiety. Trintellix makes me a little dizzy for the first hour and tired for the first 2 hours. Based on reviews, I anticipated strong nausea, but it was not the case for me. I find that it is helpful to take it at night. Sometimes I feel huge energy, then at other times, I am 'spaced out.' However, I have noticed less obsessive/spiraling thinking and have stopped counting calories. I do feel a bit more complacent. At times I feel strangely positive, even blissful, and I know that it is the medication because it is so out of character. Then again, this medication does not prevent me from getting upset if something truly upsetting happens. Overall, I recommend it if you can afford it. Take advantage of the discount program."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I started taking Trintellix 3 weeks ago. Initial dose 5 mg up to 15 mg in the third week. It's the worst antidepressant I have ever tried. This is what I've been having when I switched to Trintellix: I am so dizzy, racing thoughts, and my anxiety is much, much worse. I can't eat. I'm even scared to leave the house because I'm so afraid to throw up or have intense diarrhea. I can't wait to see my psychiatrist next week to stop this madness."

For Depression "I use Trintellix for 10 days now. I was using Pristiq. I took both for 9 days. Then stopped Pristiq. I started Trintellix for 5 mg, increased to 10 mg. After 4 days, I will increase it to 20 mg. That's what my doctor told me. My head is so weird. I think it is because I stopped Pristiq. The only side effect of Trintellix is that I feel dizzy. When I stand up, I get dizzy. No nausea or vomiting, fingers crossed. I hope it's gonna work for me."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Have been on Brintellix a little over 5 weeks and have loss of appetite. I have lost about 9 pounds, could stand to lose a few, but feeling a little foggy most days, unsteady on my feet, somewhat out of it. I'll give it another week or so. Anyone experience this."

For Depression "Made me so dizzy and nauseous. Would make me dry heave on an empty stomach and then throw up the water I drank it down with. It wouldn't make me actually throw up if I ate an hour before and then right after taking it, but still made me feel sick. Got upped to 20 mg and couldn't keep it and any food down no matter what."

For Depression "I have severe PTSD and major depression. I have tried multiple medications, and all of them had horrible side effects. I started taking 10 mg at the end of November 2021. So far, my depression has improved significantly, with no side effects at this time. I had a little nausea and dizziness the first two weeks. Side note: this medication has caused the least sexual side effects. Libido has been average, but I am able to have ejaculations, which was not possible on the other meds. So far, this has been a good medication for me."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I took this medication (5 mg) for two weeks. The first week was fine, no side effects, no difference in mood, nothing. Prescriber increased to 10 mg. Within one day, I was nauseous, and the room was spinning. I was also horribly anxious. It was horrible. She decreased it back to 5 mg, but the dizziness and nausea did not go away. In fact, it got worse. It is like being in a state of constant motion sickness. I have been off it for three days now, and I'm still feeling the dizziness. It is a horrible drug, which I recommend staying away from."

For Depression "Started on this medication 7 weeks ago, and initially it was not bad. I immediately felt more upbeat, more energetic, and optimistic. However, after week 5 (5mg), I started to experience abdominal bloating, pain, and gas, and worse, dizziness, especially when laying down-a couple of times I got up during the night and stumbled and almost fell. The dizziness was so bad, the other side effects were tolerable. I told my doctor, and we are taking me off of it. I hope to find something that agrees with me."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I took 5 mg of Trintellix for three days, and by the fourth day, I was having random violent thoughts, felt extremely emotionally unstable, had vivid nightmares, night sweats, and terrible dizziness and nausea that made it feel like I was constantly falling. I’ve taken almost every antidepressant out there over the past fifteen years and have never experienced anything as dangerous as Trintellix. I reported my experience to the FDA due to the suicide risk. Since stopping the medication, I’ve had even worse dizziness (I have trouble even sitting up in bed), cold sweats, and a racing heart, in addition to still having nightmares. I’ve never experienced drug withdrawal from any other antidepressant. What’s scary is that there’s so little information online about Trintellix since it’s relatively new and not widely used due to the cost. After this experience, I will never take another psychiatric drug again."

"I was prescribed this medication to help with my anxiety. I had previously tried Zoloft but stopped taking it after 4 months as I had sexual side effects and very minor improvement to my anxiety. I began with 5mg for one week, then went up to 10mg, as per my doctor's recommendation. After about 4 days on Trintellix, I had the worst anxiety of my life. Constant panic attacks, sensitivity to even the slightest sounds, lightheadedness/dizziness, nausea, no appetite, suicidal ideations, difficulty breathing, sweaty palms. On the plus side, no sexual side effects! Haha. After just over 3 weeks, I couldn’t take it anymore and stopped using the medication. 5 days later, I am feeling like myself again. My doctor has now prescribed Cipralex, so hopefully that one helps and has fewer side effects! I realize everyone has different reactions to different medications, but this was the worst medication I have ever used. Would not recommend for the treatment of anxiety. Good luck finding the right fit!"

For Depression "This is day 5 for me, so far no major side effects. A little dizziness the first day I took it. Hoping this is the one for me. Tried 4 other medications, 2 SSRIs and 2 SNRIs, had troubles with side effects. Trintellix has been the easiest for my body to adjust to, just praying that it works for anxiety."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I've been on Brintellix for four days now after switching from Cymbalta, and I am completely regretting it. I felt great for the first day but now feel as bad as I did when I first sought treatment. I'm dizzy and nauseous; I've had trouble falling asleep, I'm constantly hungry, I itch everywhere, and I feel like I'm always about to start crying. I've had suicidal thoughts of a severity and frequency I haven't had since before I went on Cymbalta. I very nearly contacted a crisis help center last night; I felt so bad -- and I don't even really know what triggered it. I'll discuss it with my therapist tomorrow, but I really want to stop taking it; I'm actually nervous about trying to hold out for a month before I see my psychiatrist again."

For Depression "Not much side effects from the get-go. Slight nausea on 5 mg. After about three weeks, it kicked in and made me feel dizzy, unable to sleep, chest tightness started coming on, feelings of high also low. Numbness in the head too. Feel overly sensitive, then the next minute calm. Withdrawing from the drug as had a night scare on the drug. Just felt off and irritable in moods. Muscles also twitching during the day on it. Second day withdrawing, feel better but uncertain what medication to try next for panic disorder as have tried what also failed: sertraline, paroxetine, duloxetine had similar effects for me as this medication actually, citalopram, escitalopram, venlafaxine worked for four months then stopped, and fluoxetine which gave me serotonin syndrome."

For Depression "I've been on this since early November for my dysthymia. The first week or two I was a bit woozy, I would feel completely knackered after taking it and would feel nausea. I took two weeks off work until it stabilized. This usually happens about 30 minutes after taking it. I still get these side effects, and they bug me. I also noticed my body temperature increasing about an hour after they kick in, and I would start to sweat. After about two hours, these symptoms pilfer out. I can't say my thinking has changed, I feel a bit more leveled out, my sex drive is the same, and after about three weeks my sleep improved somewhat. They are quite subtle. Alcohol just makes you feel more nausea, so it may be a good drug for alcoholics! I've noticed by my third month I was farting more, and I would have occasional diarrhea and have a dry mouth in the morning."

For Depression "My doctor started me on 5 mg for two weeks, to be followed by 10 mg for two weeks. The first two weeks were great. Only mild diarrhea, mild headaches, and mild to moderate dizziness. I just went up to 10 mg this morning, and it has not been good for me. I am suicidal, don't want to do anything at all, major anxiety and restlessness. I am going back down to 5 mg. Besides this, it has been so good for my depression. I want to get up in the morning, and it has also helped with intrusive thoughts. They are not gone entirely but are a lot better to manage. All in all, I'm having a good experience with Trintellix. I have free samples and am not sure what the cost to me is yet."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Antidepressants, in general, are a very personalized experience. For me, Trintellix was not helpful, and the risk of continuing to take it was greater than the benefit. I transitioned to Trintellix for a month after being on escitalopram for 3 months due to heart problems on the latter. At first, I thought Trintellix was a good one, as it felt gentler on my system and had less of the side effects I was having with the SSRI. However, day 10-30 was pretty bad, consisting of all-day waves of queasiness, extreme fatigue, and feeling flat. My anxiety was minimal, but I was feeling more depressed than ever before due to this state. After realizing things were only getting worse, I quit after a month and felt better within a few days. It was easy to come off of since I was only on 10 mg and had been taking it for 4 weeks. Some dizziness and body aches for a week or two, but nothing debilitating. Based on my poor experience with this one, it wouldn’t be my first choice to recommend."

For Depression "From the start, I can't sleep. My stomach feels like it's on fire, I can't eat or am throwing up when I do eat. I've lost 14 lbs in one month due to not eating. My heart beats super fast, I'm dizzy and unsteady, and the worst of all, it does nothing for anxiety. It has made it worse. Also, the drug interactions, I throw up the pain medication for my back, codeine. You can't take basic medications for colds, allergies, headache, or body ache. After taking or trying to take 20 mg for a month, I just want to crawl in a hole. This is NOT a good medicine. Had a slight improvement with depression, but not worth it."
