For Major Depressive Disorder "Took a lot of different medications for depression ever since I was 18. I'm now 30. The problem that always affected me with venlafaxine, which maintained me good and 'alive,' is the sexual side effects. So, all my life I got to find strategies, like stopping taking it, even though I know it is wrong. Had hope in Trintellix, but my experience with it is terrible: Gave me extreme sadness, hopelessness, apathy, like going into a 'hole of darkness' for no reason. From what I see here, everybody has an awesome experience with it, besides vomiting, which is completely bearable, compared to what I am describing. If you feel what I feel with this 'magic pill,' you are not alone. Talk to your doctor and switch it."

For Depression "Been on this stuff for like almost two months, and I haven't felt better. In fact, I've been feeling more aggressive and sadder. I have crazy mood swings (didn't have them before this med), and I feel extremely angry and sad all the time. This didn't work on me. Worst antidepressant I've tried."

For Depression "My Dr. started me on 10 mg for a month, and then raised it to 20 mg. I was having general anxiety and some depression. It does seem to have helped, though no cure. The psychological side effects are much better for me than with other antidepressants, which sometimes caused odd feelings of separation from the world around me and a 'foggy' state. I also have lost weight since beginning Brintellix. There is a huge reduction in sex drive and response. Other than that, it's a positive experience. Cialis would help with the sexual performance issues, but I'm unable to take it since it causes severe back pain for me. After about 5 months, I'm not sure I'm willing to stay on it. Also, it's expensive, even with the $150 per month discount coupon."

For Depression "I've been taking this for about two months. I had previously taken Cymbalta for the past three to five years, but felt it had lost its effectiveness and was causing severe decreased libido. I have gained two to four pounds, constantly itch, am very moody, easily agitated, feel more depressed than before, and still no sexual desire. 40-year-old female."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I had sudden large amounts of projectile vomiting the 5 weeks I was on this med. Other untoward side effects include headache, eye pain, visual changes, emotionally labile, very anxious, depressed, very tired, no energy, racing thoughts."

For Major Depressive Disorder "On week 3, 10 mg, terrible debilitating headaches every day, eye pain, vision blurry, mood swings (quick and aggressive!), zero motivation, although the crying has lessened. Anyone else getting these side effects? Any suggestions on the time of day to take? This is my last hope, I've tried all other meds. My last 2 years have been so painful with sadness. If this doesn't work, MD recommend ECT..."

For Depression "I have dysthymia, social phobia, and I moved from Zoloft to Trintellix and got worse. I started using it to have more energy and initiative. However, I began to oscillate between being aggressive and sad. If it wasn't for Vyvanse (I have severe ADHD), I couldn't get out of bed. I've already used 15 mg, and I'm now on 10 mg with almost 6 months of use. I intend to stop and switch back to Wellbutrin XR - and maybe Zoloft - which is way more effective. Trintellix is a lie: it has an abusive price and does not cause any significant change. This medication is garbage and a waste of money."

For Depression "Worked GREAT for about 8 months. The doctor prescribed Ondansetron 8 mg to take about 15 minutes before taking Trintellix to stop the nausea! If this medication makes you sick to your stomach, ask your doctor for Ondansetron! I have combined this drug with 20 mg of Citalopram, but I can't shake the fatigue and depression that has come back after 8 months."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I was on Trintellix for 3 months, started on 5 mg. I felt somewhat better, then the doctor increased it to 10 mg, still about the same, then increased it to 20 mg. The longer I have been on the medication, the worse the fog is getting. I am not sleeping any better, in fact, now I am taking meds for sleep also. But the fog has been terrible, so much so that I have been put on probation at work because I am making so many mistakes, memory is horrible, and no motivation at all. We fought like heck to get my insurance to pay for it, and now we are going to have to go on something different. The funny thing is, I called the doctor to make them aware, and they said to drop it down to 15 mg. I was not getting any better, so I started to titrate down, and now I am off. I feel better, more motivation, and the fog is starting to go away. I hope it goes completely away very soon. This was not a miracle drug for me, sadly. Back to the drawing board."

For Depression "I have been on 10 mg for 6 weeks. Very little nausea at first and some headaches, but nothing ibuprofen did not take away. I did not notice much at first, then, maybe 3-4 weeks in, I noticed a little relief from frustration and sad feelings. I can't find a job and have gained a good amount of weight over the past year, so I am having self-esteem issues anyway, but over the past week, I am a mess. I am sad and cry a lot. I cannot focus and feel cloudy in my thoughts. I am very irritable and short-tempered. I will try to see about increasing the dose. It seems like a slow progression, but I am hopeful a higher dose may help."

For Depression "I had a pretty great experience with Venlafaxine, which basically worked immediately when I started taking them. However, after a couple of years, I grew intolerant to them. My Dr. suggested Trintellix - and gawd, do I wish I hadn't tried them. I eventually went as high as 20 mg. They gave me insane nausea, vomiting, seasickness, and intense mood swings, if you can even call it that, because those mood swings were more a combo of all negative emotions: depression, hopelessness, anger, anxiety, panic, which caused me to have some severe suicidal urges just because I desperately needed it to stop. It was the absolute opposite experience of Venlafaxine, which had made me practically high and euphoric when I started on them. Now that I'm no longer on these demon pills, I still struggle with a sensitivity to nausea that can cause me to vomit, which I can't seem to get rid of. Perhaps they've changed me forever, and that really bums me out."

For Depression "Terrible side effects from Trintellix. My dose was 5 mg for 2 weeks, no nausea, but anxiety was overload! Then, at one and a half weeks, I went to a 10 mg dose, and my left shoulder blade locked up just because, did not injure it, and I had severe pain. Went to the chiropractor for treatment, and no relief. Actually felt more depressed."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I suffer from bipolar with depression. I had been on Trintellix (along with a mood stabilizer) to treat depression for approximately 7 months. My moods had been stable for that long. Then I had some added stress, though, and had severe depression... worst I have ever had. This ended with me being hospitalized and taken off Trintellix. My thoughts are it worked well for short-term for me, but not long term. So take this medication with caution, and if depression gets worse, then seek help immediately."

For Major Depressive Disorder "It was great the first few days, but then I started getting severe nausea and motion sickness every day around 1 pm. Now I’ve been having akathisia (like restless legs, but it’s your whole body) mixed with severe depression and dark thoughts. Not sure if that’s this or another med I’m also trying. But the nausea was definitely this medicine."

For Major Depressive Disorder "My doctor put me on Trintellix, and it was the worst experience of my life. He kept telling me it needed to get into my system. I took it for about 6 months, and it made my depression/anxiety worse than ever. I could not function. I completely lost my appetite. I could not get out of bed. I could not go to work. I was a mess. He finally took me off and put me on something else, and within 2 days, I was feeling better-within 2 weeks, I was functioning again, and within 4 weeks, I feel great."

For Depression "After many years of trying different antidepressants, my doctor prescribed Trintellix. After about 3 months, I started sleeping 9-12 hours a day, was extremely apathetic, and had no motivation. I had all kinds of tests done because none of these were listed as side effects. I ran out of my pills over the holidays. After being off Trintellix for six days, I woke up feeling like the bell jar had been lifted off of me. Now, a week later, my sleep is starting to get closer to normal, my empathy is returning, and I have had more motivation. I also gained weight."

For Depression "Took 5 mg on a Friday, it put me to sleep for 12 hours. Took another 5 mg the next day, and my chest seized up, and my left arm lost sensation. I then started having heart arrhythmia every minute to the point where the entire left side of my chest hurt. I had no energy for the entire weekend. I felt depressed, miserable, and in pain. I tried one more time Sunday night before bed, and it woke me up from a dead sleep with chest pain and arrhythmia. I still have chest pain and arrhythmia, and I've been off of it for 1 week. My energy levels are still low, and I get out of breath easily. I have never had any problems cardio-wise in the past."

"Do not take this medicine. I took 10 mg for one year, and 20 mg for another year. After many attempts to wean off of it, I am finally free of this med. For me, I was so sick to my stomach every morning when I took it. I couldn't eat, sometimes I would throw up if I tried. It had me crippled over sometimes. When trying to wean off of it, my depression hit rock bottom. Dark thoughts slammed my brain, but I was so depressed, I had no willpower to do anything. At one point, I had to be hospitalized because of my thoughts. I spent $300-$400 every single month to take this medication."

For Depression "I took Trintellix for 6 months. I have had increased panic attacks, sweating, depression, and out-of-control anger outbursts. I did not realize that the drug was also an antipsychotic, which my father has adverse reactions to. I was advised to decrease from 10 mg to 5 mg and then to go off it."

For Depression "Started on the 5 mg Brintellix. I usually have low blood pressure, but noticed at first the headache and decided to monitor my blood pressure after taking the med. Usually, the headache started about 3 hours after taking it. I took my blood pressure just to check, and my BP was high at 142/88. My norm is 108/70, that is regular. I don't think I am going to be able to tolerate the discomfort it gives me with the headache and high BP, no nausea. I like the fact that the food cravings I got on other meds are not a factor with this. I was on Lexapro, low dose, for about 7 years, but I started to have tremors when I discontinued. No tremors, but depression and SAD returned, so we tried Brintellix. May have to try something else."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I've been taking medication for my depression for over 10 years now. This medicine was prescribed to me about 3 weeks ago. I hate this stuff. It made me extremely tired and down. I was even more depressed than I have been. I had zero motivation to do anything. It was terrible. I didn't experience too much nausea, but I also took it at night right before bed."

For Depression "I was RX'd this medication, Trintellix, for depression. I only took it for four days, and it was awful. My side effects were I was angry, agitated, and my depression worsened. I cried and sobbed uncontrollably. Discontinued."
