Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I have been on just about every antidepressant out there. I have even had 38 treatments of electroconvulsive therapy. Lamictal, a mood stabilizer, and Klonopin have been the best for me. Prozac had the least side effects for me, and I liked it. But Dr. suggested Trintellix. I would have to say it is the worst antidepressant I have ever been on. The first night I took it, within an hour, I vomited 3 times. And then I got a horrible migraine. I never throw up! I would rather be depressed than ever take Trintellix again. I think it works because you are too sick to think about being sad!"

Vortioxetine for Depression "I took 10 mg Trintellix every day, and every time, even while eating (and I was taking Gravol to hopefully help), I would get horrible nausea and vomited a few times every day. It doesn't agree with me, and I couldn't get through the sickness, even though I felt like I was feeling better after a few days, as well as taking Wellbutrin. Not sure what else could help?"

Vortioxetine for Depression "Omg!!! This drug has been a nightmare for me! I didn't even realize it until today. I read the side effects of the medication. I have every single one of them: severe migraines, eye pain, nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting. I have been going through so much in my life that I literally didn't know that it was the Trintellix that might have been causing the migraines, eye pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting that I have been having since I've been on it the last several months! I just put it with stress and sinusitis. I was on Lexapro for many years. I was suffering from very bad depression because of a lot of bad things that were going on in my life this past summer. I thought it was time for a change of medication. A nurse practitioner put me on Prozac, and that made me agitated. Another nurse practitioner put me on Trintellix. At first, I thought it made me feel better because it made me very active. I was doing things at home, getting out of bed, which I wasn't doing when I was on Lexapro."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I never actually got to see if this medication helped with my depression because I had such a bad reaction to it. I threw up so much from it I don't think any of it actually got into my system. The side effects on this were the worst I've ever felt on an antidepressant."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "This has been the worst medication of my life. In September, I started Zoloft for anxiety and depression and started becoming much more depressed than before, therefore, my doctor had me try an SNRI instead because I have been on three other SSRIs. Within 20-30 minutes of taking 5 mg of Trintellix, I had stomach pain and GI discomfort. For over four hours, I experienced horrible pain, was extremely nauseous and throwing up/dry heaving, and experienced horrible diarrhea. The side effects were so horrendous I lasted only a week on the medicine, hoping the symptoms would lessen, but after a week, I couldn’t endure any more time suffering from the side effects."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I took Pristiq for 6 years for depression, PTSD, and anxiety but wasn't getting results anymore. My doctor switched me to Fetzima, but I had an allergic reaction. Ultimately, I ended up on Brintellix. I started on 5 mg and am currently on 10 mg. Although the medicine works, the gastrointestinal side effects are almost intolerable. I tried bumping up to 20 mg and would vomit within an hour. The current 10 mg dose causes nausea, increased acid reflux, constipation, gas, and bloating. Considering switching."

For Depression "I took vortioxetine for six weeks, and it was a horrendous experience. Nausea would set in within minutes after taking my daily dose. I vomited after taking the first dose at 10 mg and after my first dose at 20 mg. The nausea was so bad that it was actually making me feel worse. I did experience a few days of elevated mood at the end of my six-week trial, but that's because I was excited to be done with it and stop taking it. Worst antidepressant I've tried. (On my 10th now)"

Vortioxetine "Do not take this medicine. I took 10 mg for one year, and 20 mg for another year. After many attempts to wean off of it, I am finally free of this med. For me, I was so sick to my stomach every morning when I took it. I couldn't eat, sometimes I would throw up if I tried. It had me crippled over sometimes. When trying to wean off of it, my depression hit rock bottom. Dark thoughts slammed my brain, but I was so depressed, I had no willpower to do anything. At one point, I had to be hospitalized because of my thoughts. I spent $300-$400 every single month to take this medication."

For Depression "Ok, so I can't really rate it yet based on how well it's working because it's really only my 4th day (technically 2nd, because I cut a 5mg in half the past 2 days and have been taking 2.5 till I was confident enough to take the full 5). I was extremely scared of side effects, especially the nausea and vomiting that I read so much about because I have a very sensitive stomach, and most medicines make me sick. So far, I have not had ANY nausea with this medicine, although I'm only on 5mg. I have taken it with a meal every time! I am optimistic that this will help my anxiety, I may increase to 10mg in a few weeks if I feel no difference with the 5. However, do not let these reviews scare you! Every person is different!"

Vortioxetine for Depression "I've noticed that emotionally I seemed to be feeling much better not long after starting it. But at about a month and a half out, I'm not sure if the side effects are worth it. I really intense nausea that comes on quickly after taking it is making me miserable. Today, I made the big mistake of taking it on a full stomach after lunch. Ended up vomiting my guts out within about 20 minutes, and my stomach is still a little shaky now, 6 hours later."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I'm taking 300 mg Bupropion and still extremely depressed. The psychiatrist gave me a month of 5 mg samples of Trintellix to supplement the Bupropion. I have been taking it for 5 days now and have severe nausea and vomiting along with constipation. Nausea and vomiting occur 20 min to 1/2 hour after taking, so the drug isn't absorbed into my system to have an effect on my depression. I am on other medications that I was taking at the same time as the Trintellix. I've decided to take the Trintellix with food in the morning and all other meds at night due to the vomiting so that the other drugs can be effective. I can deal with nausea and constipation, but not vomiting. I will continue taking it and hope the vomiting stops. Fingers crossed."

For Depression "The drug is working miraculously well to alleviate social anxiety disorder acquired by a traumatic brain injury. However, the nausea side effect makes it almost worth quitting. Often borderline to vomiting with it. An inadvertent side effect, this drug may improve cognition. A meta-analysis of clinical trials (Rosenblat, Kakar, McIntyre, 2015) posted in PubMed found that it improved psychomotor speed by 34% (P=.0001) and delayed recall by 24% (P=0.0007)."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "The sickest six weeks of my life. Constant nausea accompanied by intermittent vomiting, headaches, and flu-like symptoms. I would have had to die to feel better. An emotional wreck, severe bouts of crying, feelings of utter despondency and hopelessness that were not present before taking. I am amazed that this drug made it through the FDA with such high incidences of nausea. Absolutely horrible experience."

Vortioxetine for Depression "Why is the Trintellix commercial featuring all females? Do men not get depression? This drug made me throw up if I didn’t take it and go right to bed. I was nauseous all day, and I took it for months. Mood was okay."

Vortioxetine "Tried this drug for around 2 1/2 months total for MDD, GAD, and PD. 5 mg was a little tick in motivation and mood, 10 mg was overstimulating, and 15 mg was off the charts. I had to take propranolol and Xanax almost every day just to get out of bed after starting 10 mg. This drug can work for some to treat anxiety, but it has been much too stimulating for me, even though my depression was gone. My mood was fantastic, but I had crippling and debilitating anxiety coming from it that was purely physical and not coming from my actual disorder. For some, it can even be sedating. I definitely would not use this drug as a first line for anxiety issues (it’s used off-label), but rather for lack of motivation, concentration, and poor mood. I need something that can do the two at once. Side note: This drug also has a big risk of causing nausea and vomiting. That was solved after cutting my doses in half 2x a day, and I only had dry heaving when first taking it, and it did go away."

For Depression "I switched to 10 mg vortioxetine from 75 mg of sertraline with only a day or two of withdrawal symptoms. The only physical side effects have been itching, which is tolerable, and 3 or 4 short bouts of nausea and a few instances of vomiting. Two weeks in, and the nausea has completely disappeared, my mood and motivation are excellent, and I have plenty of energy. I still have some itching. This is the best antidepressant I have tried. (I have tried 5 different antidepressants previously: Zoloft, Lexapro, Prozac, Effexor, and Mirtazapine). I take it at night, before bed, and have had some vivid nightmares, however, I am generally sleeping well. I hope these good feelings last!"

For Depression "My doctor switched me from being on Zoloft for 2+ years for anxiety/depression, because it stopped working. Though it was rough to come off a 150 mg dose of Zoloft onto 5 mg Trintellix to a current dose of 10 mg, my depression symptoms have mostly gone away. But as soon as I started the 10 mg dose, I felt nauseated every time after taking it. After 1 week on 10 mg, I told my doctor about the nausea, she said the benefits outweighed the side effects, to give it more time. 2 months later, nausea is so bad, I feel like trash! It doesn't matter if I take it with or without food, or the time of day I take it, it makes me nauseous all the time and vomit on several occasions. I also get severe acid reflux, so I'm about to quit this med, it's not worth it!"

For Depression "Began at 10 mg for 2 months with no improvement. Upped to 20 mg for 1 month. No improvement. Episodes of retching x2 with no vomiting; nausea daily; affect seems to be flat; ED worsened to the point of complete inability to maintain an erection or achieve ejaculation. Will discuss with psychiatrist changing to something else. Expensive even with insurance - $60.00 monthly."

For Depression "Since my insurance does not cover, I buy from Canada - under Brintellex - it is $309/3mo 20mg, and I split pills. If you do this, don't mention splitting pills to the doctor, as that is not permitted by the manufacturer due to their profits. Anxiety is lowered, and I lost weight. I no longer crave food/binge eat at night and have no desire to drink anymore. Started at 5mg the first week, then 10mg. Tried SSRIs in the past, none worked. The Trintellix has mild sexual side effects, slowing arousal, but I can still get orgasms. Made me vomit twice. I get dizzy and feel nausea within 2 hours after I've taken it. Taking it with food helps. Makes me thirstier and sweat more during workouts and burp. The only other medication that helped my anxiety with no sexual side effects was pricey ketamine infusion."

For Depression "I started this medication for severe depression. My doctor started me on 10 mg every night, I was extremely nauseous from it. I cut it down to 5 mg every night, which wasn't much better. I decided feeling dizzy, nauseous, and vomiting almost daily wasn't worth the hassle. I also oddly gained 10 lbs from this medication. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I took the medicine for a total of 3 months. I quit gradually, just as I increased gradually. I took it at night, often I felt dizzy and nauseous. Some nights I even had to run to the washroom to vomit. I didn't feel any improvement, probably because I didn't take it for long enough."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I started at 5 mg with the understanding I would increase to 10 mg after 7 days. By day 4, the nausea was deepening rather than going away as the doctor thought. At day 6, I was constantly vomiting, even to the point of dry heaves. My face and upper arms were bright red, with areas of broken capillaries. While easy to take (small pill form), the side effects were bad for me. It was difficult to get back to the doctor, and nausea continued whether with or without food. All in all, a very uncomfortable experience."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "Just took my first dose of 5 mg of Brintellix - have been on every possible medication, including Wellbutrin for 15 years, Seroquel for 9 years, and Lexapro for 2 years, just weaned off Lexapro. I feel quite odd, butterflies in my stomach and brain fog - my daughter has been on Brintellix for 2 months and is still vomiting - if this continues, another failed med."
