For Depression "Taking 20 mg for 2 months. I take it in the morning on a full stomach and don't have any nausea. I had nausea for a few days, but it went away after taking high doses of calcium. I also had itching the 1st week, but that went away with Benadryl and applying anti-itch ointment. I've taken just about everything for depression and suffered intolerable side effects - but not with Brintellix. I feel much better. IMHO, side effects can be easily treated with OTC medicines. I have noticed that people who have bad side effects from it are also taking other medications, i.e., for bipolar, depression, etc. My Dr. said taking Brintellix with medicines like Wellbutrin can have serious side effects like mood swings, disorientation."

Vortioxetine for Depression "So I love how I feel I am on this stuff. Little background info: I am bipolar and suffering postpartum from having my first daughter three months ago. Two things I've noticed: I don't cry as much, however, I itch constantly. I mean, like a crackhead itching. Also, having headaches and crazy dreams (snakes, spiders), but the postpartum is mostly gone. I still feel however, no weight loss, and that is still a major depression symptom for me, and probably my biggest. I make myself sick in the mirror when I'm naked, and I like the way it's taken away the postpartum, but still no self-esteem. What do I do? Also, I would love to chat, or if there is a group I can look into about this, please let me know. I am on my second week of 10 MG. Thank you!"

For Major Depressive Disorder "It's my second week on it since being weaned off Wellbutrin. My anxiety is completely gone, and I have my playful personality back, which I am so grateful for. But there are major downsides for me: 1. Intense itching all over my body, which I am taking antihistamines for (which barely help, tbh) 2. Hypersomnia and daytime sleepiness, general oversleeping 3. Loss of motivation and focus 4. Huge appetite. The oversleeping is the worst one side effect, which I can't quite manage, so I'll have to change to something different, especially since it's affecting my studying. I am sad to be leaving this antidepressant."

For Depression "I was using 10 mg for 10 months to treat 'depression' - my doctor said that it can be good for attention deficit issues - although I'm in the process of receiving a more accurate diagnosis right now. Very itchy for the first few weeks, not many side effects after that. I'm stopping because it hasn't made a significant difference in my ability to focus, nor in my moodiness, and recently it started causing nausea that made it difficult to sleep. Very vivid dreams since I've gone down to 5 mg. It's fine, but it wasn't particularly effective for me."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I have been on Trintellix so far for 10 weeks. I started 5 mg for a few days, then 10 mg for a few weeks, and then had some major depression where I couldn't stop crying during my period, and my husband was also starting a new job, so some family changes were happening. I upped to 15 mg, and it has helped level me out with my anxiety and depression most of the time, but again, a month later now, and I am at the end of my period, and I am a crying mess. Literally crying at work, and no, my job is not stressful. So I am worried that it is affecting my cycle and making my emotions worse during that time of the month because I don't remember dealing with this on a monthly basis previously. Anyways, I am going to stick it out for a few more months because it is working most of the time and helped me get out of a really dark place. Yes, you need to take it with food, and it made me tired at first, so I take it with my dinner. I also got itchy when I upped to 15 mg, but that went away after a week."

For Depression "Started taking vortioxetine for treatment-resistant MDD. I took this medication for only 8 days. The first 3-4 days, I had moderate nausea, gas, loose stools, and very bad itching that worsened daily. On day 8, my doctor advised me that I was likely having an allergic reaction and had me discontinue the medication. My depression seemed to be starting to lift just a little about day 5."

For Depression "This is my fourth day of taking Brintellix, and I am so itchy and crying all the time. My doc told me to go onto this by cutting down my Luvox from 150 mg to 100 mg for two nights and then start taking this medicine. I feel manic and really up and down, also having crazy dreams, nausea, and headaches. Going to go back to the Luvox tonight. I hate this drug!"

For Major Depressive Disorder "Started this medication 5 days ago after 3 years on Sertraline. Severe stomach cramps to the point I can't stand up, which lasts all day. I have severe bowel movements, skin itchy, headaches, feel sick all the time. It's too early to say if it has helped my mood as I am only on 5 mg at the minute and will move up to 10 mg in 3 days. I am hoping these side effects will pass soon, as it’s very hard to cope with. If you have a low pain threshold, I would not take this medication, but if you are determined to feel better in the long run, I would give it a try. Will update in the next few days."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I'm only on my 4th day of taking 10 mg of Trintellix, hence a rating of only 7, as I've not been on it long enough to describe my mental state. I have been on every SSRI there is, with Lexapro being my top choice, however, it stopped working after about 6 years with no libido. But within the first dose of Trintellix, I felt a positive change in libido. Seeing the world in black and white has turned to vibrant colors for once. Cons: severe nausea only on day 3 (felt as though I had the flu), and itching was simply horrific. Took Vistaril (Hydroxyzine) and all was right again! Normally a $40 co-pay with current insurance, but they offer a savings card on their site, which brought my co-pay to only $10 for a monthly supply of 20 mg. Request Vistaril."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I'm on my second-to-last dose of a two-week trial on Brintellix 10 mg. I'm no worse, but no better, I'm indifferent. I'm 36 years old and have suffered major depressive disorder since 13 years old. I've been through 26 rounds of ECT and countless antidepressants. I'm a diagnosed medical excreter, so meds only work for short periods before I drop severely. Ritalin's been the only thing that continues to help. I was put in trial at the Black Dog Institute 3 years ago for it, but felt like I was on a never-ending roller coaster. They changed me to the slow release Concerta, which has been better. Brintellix makes me vomit, itch, stars in my eyes (sometimes), but I'll give it more time. Edronax, clomipramine, Lexapro, Effexor, fluoxetine, Dothep, and heaps more don't work."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I have been on Viibryd for 3 years and noticed my depression was starting to get worse recently. I’ve been on all medicines imaginable. My Dr. put me on this starting out at 10 mg and reduced my Viibryd to 20 at the same time. I was on this less than a week and I was a complete wreck, and I was itching all over."

For Depression "I’ve just started Vortioxetine. I’m hoping for a good outcome for my depression. It’s only been two days, so fingers crossed they work for me. I am itching, though, and feel slightly sick, hopefully, this will pass in time. I feel less anxious already, so"

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "Started 4 days ago and noticed a calming effect during the first day, which made me excited and hopeful. I am cross-titrating off Cipralex with this med, though I feel I can just stop the 20 mg of Cipralex. On day 3, I developed an itch in random parts throughout my body, just got allergy medication in attempts of making this uncomfortable side effect subside. I am hopeful this goes away. I am on 5 mg currently."
