Vortioxetine for Depression "I've been on this since early November for my dysthymia. The first week or two I was a bit woozy, I would feel completely knackered after taking it and would feel nausea. I took two weeks off work until it stabilized. This usually happens about 30 minutes after taking it. I still get these side effects, and they bug me. I also noticed my body temperature increasing about an hour after they kick in, and I would start to sweat. After about two hours, these symptoms pilfer out. I can't say my thinking has changed, I feel a bit more leveled out, my sex drive is the same, and after about three weeks my sleep improved somewhat. They are quite subtle. Alcohol just makes you feel more nausea, so it may be a good drug for alcoholics! I've noticed by my third month I was farting more, and I would have occasional diarrhea and have a dry mouth in the morning."

Vortioxetine for Depression "My doctor started me on 5 mg for two weeks, to be followed by 10 mg for two weeks. The first two weeks were great. Only mild diarrhea, mild headaches, and mild to moderate dizziness. I just went up to 10 mg this morning, and it has not been good for me. I am suicidal, don't want to do anything at all, major anxiety and restlessness. I am going back down to 5 mg. Besides this, it has been so good for my depression. I want to get up in the morning, and it has also helped with intrusive thoughts. They are not gone entirely but are a lot better to manage. All in all, I'm having a good experience with Trintellix. I have free samples and am not sure what the cost to me is yet."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I took this medication for just two days. My doc told me I did not have to wean off of Effexor, I could just start taking the Trintellix on the day I chose. I became severely depressed. It hit me like a load of bricks. Sobbing, feeling helpless, hopelessness, and that my life was just not worth living. I was shocked at how fast these feelings came upon me, I have never experienced something like this before, and I have been on several antidepressants over the years. I also had severe nausea and diarrhea for over 24 hours. The third day, yesterday, I went back to the Effexor. Today I finally feel like myself inside and out. This medication was NOT for me!"

Vortioxetine for Depression "I had been on Effexor for a couple of years and hated being so tired. Weaned off, which took a year. I had no energy or feelings... zip. I went on to Trintellix, started at 10 mg, went to 20 mg after a month. Hate it! Sooo tired, no motivation, sleep all the time. It’s been 2 months. Dr. wants me to go one more month to give it a real try... so over this pill! Oh, and the diarrhea... seriously!!"

Vortioxetine "I took Pristiq about a year and a half for panic/anxiety attacks, and it was okay. Then I felt good, and I stopped it. For four months after that, my anxiety attacks came back. My doctor recommended I take Brintellix 10 mg. The first week, it was okay, sleeping a little bit more, about an extra hour, without any symptoms. But by the end of the first week, I started getting diarrhea for about 5-6 days, and my anxiety peaked! And dry mouth. Now I'm on day 15, still want to give it a try."

For Depression "I have severe anxiety and probably depression due to some life changes. I just started therapy, and she thinks I've probably always been depressed. Anyway, I have tried all sorts of antidepressants over my lifetime. SSRIs always made me feel like I'm bouncing off the walls. I have been diagnosed with hypomania after receiving steroid shots, so it's possible I have mania issues anyway. SNRIs make me grit my teeth and shake. Effexor, Strattera, and Cymbalta all do this. Recently, I was given Cymbalta, and it wasn't really doing anything other than raising anxiety. Then the doctor prescribed Trintellix. I'm only on day 2, but I did want to put it out there that the dreams and night sweats are off the charts. To say my dreams were unsettling is the understatement of the century. Very disturbing. Diarrhea today, but I haven't experienced the nausea. I plan to stick with it and will update when I have better results to voice."

For Depression "I've had depression and anxiety all my life and tried about 10 meds. Started a week at 10 mg and now at 20 for a month. Constant nausea, cramps, morning gas, and have gone from lifelong constipation to loose bowels. No other meds have ever shown a benefit, including this one, and I usually gain 10 lbs. I was using samples and just got an RX last week and can't shake this migraine, could have been PMDD related also, but I keep having cramps days after my cycle stops. My pharmacy wouldn't even order it without making me promise to get it on auto refill because they don't keep it in stock because of cost/popularity, which I can't afford. Caused petechiae (busted blood vessels aggravated by NSAIDs) in my legs to come back that Zoloft created 3 years ago."

For Depression "Take my comment with a grain of salt. And take into consideration I only took this for 3-4 days, 10 mg tabs alongside Circadin 2 mg. As long as I took it with food, I found no nausea or vomiting. Took at night time, however, I would find the next morning and most of the next day to have diarrhea or loose stools every time I ate food. But my side effect, which made me stop taking it, was on the 3rd night of taking it. I woke up at 4 a.m. and went into a panic attack and semi-passed out, and for days after, my anxiety was pretty high, which I didn't have going into taking these meds. Also, I had a cup of coffee whilst on this stuff, and being a former drug addict, I have some idea of what drugs feel like, and this stuff mixed with coffee made me BUZZ like a low dose of speed without the visual impairment. I'm sure for others it works fine, but for me I got off straight away. Still waiting for the anxiety to leave my system, and I'm on day 5-36 hours after the last pill and 30 hours since the panic attack."

For Depression "This is my 5th antidepressant, and I am hopeful it will work. Previously, I have been on fluoxetine, citalopram (the best of the bunch), escitalopram, and sertraline. I've been on this medication now since the 22nd of December. I have felt a bit better, less foggy, which is good, but have also felt really quite nauseous, with several bouts of quite nasty stomach upset and diarrhea. I have a tendency towards IBS as it is, so this is not really helping on that side of things. Have taken at night all the way through... lately, I wake up in the night because I feel so nauseous. I'm only on 5 mg, so concerned that when increased, I will feel quite a bit worse."

For Depression "My doctor encouraged me to try this medication after experiencing sexual side effects from Cymbalta. After one week, I feel so much better. Very clear. Interestingly enough, it has also reduced my cravings for alcohol (assuming this is due to the reduction of depressive symptoms). The only negative is the GI distress. I had very loose stools for several days. They eventually subsided, and the outcome was worth it. Make sure to get the prescription benefit card. My co-pay is only $10, which is less than the generic Cymbalta was."

For Depression "Started taking vortioxetine for treatment-resistant MDD. I took this medication for only 8 days. The first 3-4 days, I had moderate nausea, gas, loose stools, and very bad itching that worsened daily. On day 8, my doctor advised me that I was likely having an allergic reaction and had me discontinue the medication. My depression seemed to be starting to lift just a little about day 5."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have been on most antidepressants, TCAs and SSRIs for 30 years, as well as either Xanax or Klonopin. My doctor started me on 10 mg of Trintellex 3 weeks ago. I have had none of the side effects others have noted: nausea, diarrhea, or insomnia. However, I was on a very high dose of Klonopin (from another doctor) that I have gotten down to 1.5 mg daily. I had been on Lexapro for the last 8 years, and it just stopped working. My question is that I have been more anxious since starting Trintellex. I thought this drug was for both depression and anxiety? Has anyone else experienced an increase in anxiety? If so, has it gone away? For me, anxiety is as bad or worse than depression. Any insights?"

For Depression "I’ve been on Prozac, Zoloft, and Cymbalta in the past. Zoloft was my last med. My grandma passed away, so I bumped up to 100 mg, felt like a zombie. At 50 mg, which I know is low, I didn’t feel like it helped at all. Decided to try Trintellix, so I went off Zoloft in 2 days. Never had any side effects of withdrawal. Took 10 mg of Trintellix, I thought I was going to throw up everywhere. Can’t take on an empty stomach, no one told me. I’m on day 2 of 5 mg, and the only complaint I have is stomach ache and diarrhea, bad. I really hope this goes away, I’ve had enough issues with diarrhea in the past since I had my gallbladder out. Hoping for the best, and it is really expensive, though, look for the coupon online!"

For Major Depressive Disorder "I suffer from anxiety and depression. Doc suggested this drug, crying daily, filled with terror. The only thing it did was stop the daily crying and provide an odd clarity. Severe depression at week 5, after having gone up to 10 mgs after 2 weeks of 5 mgs. So many side effects: nausea, headache, and terrible depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts, diarrhea, constipation, ear ringing, withdrawn. I will note that I am very sensitive to antidepressants, have tried mirtazapine, Seroquel, one day of Pristiq and one day of Cymbalta-all of which made me incredibly anxious, panic-stricken, irrational. Amitriptyline is the only one that I have tried at a low dose for IBS that agreed with me, up until migraine auras in week."

For Depression "If you really hate yourself and want to go through hell, this is the drug for you. I took one 5 mg dose, and that was all it took to have a miserable two days. Nausea, diarrhea, and gas, headaches, and an overall achy/sore feeling were present throughout. The worst thing, though, was the fatigue. I've never slept that much in my life. I was awake for about 4 hours total the first day, and even then I didn't have the strength to stand up. I know that my experience may not happen to everyone, but is it really worth the chance? There's bound to be other drugs out there that can help you without all these side effects. This drug never should have been approved for use."

For Depression "Went straight from escitalopram to Brintellix, only 3-day washout as advised by GP. Nausea, diarrhea, and inability to drive safely meant it was not going to last for me. Tried morning dosage, to spew all day, so switched to evening. I tried to last the distance, but gave up at the 13-day mark as so depressed and crying all day. The only thing I miss, now that I've stopped, is the extremely vivid dreams I was having, however, not worth staying on for."

For Depression "Today I am on my day 4 Trintellix 10 mg for anxiety. Feeling a bit nauseous. I also have to go to the washroom a lot. I am not sure if this is normal. Getting diarrhea. And have stomach cramps. I used to take Cipralex and that worked well, but I gained a lot of weight. I hope these stomach cramps and diarrhea go away. Did anyone experience this?"

For Major Depressive Disorder "Starting 5 mg tomorrow after tapering off Lexapro for these last two weeks. I'm very nervous about nausea/diarrhea as I've already lost a lot of weight due to my depression. Already feeling very emotional and having constant anxiety from Lexapro withdrawal. Fingers crossed I get good results."

For Depression "When I started taking it in December, I felt emotionally great, but the side effects were horrendous. At first, I felt great, but then I felt really nauseous, and I couldn't eat anything but buckwheat. Thinking about food made me even more nauseous, and I had really bad diarrhea. For some reason, after taking vortioxetine, I became lactose intolerant. I experienced heartburn while taking them. Although I felt emotionally more energetic, my body didn't like it at all."
