Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started Mounjaro 7 weeks ago. The first shot made me so nauseous and have such bad abdominal pain that lasted for 12 hours. I almost went to the ER. I told my doctor about my experience, and she gave me Zofran and told me to continue dieting. Fast forward to this weekend - took my shot on Friday morning, then spent all day Saturday and Sunday projectile vomiting (it literally ended up about 7 feet from where I was standing), uncontrollable diarrhea, disgusting sulfur burps, horrible heartburn, and dizziness. Finally, I decided to go to the ER and got treated for dehydration. They told me to follow up with my primary doctor to talk about the best way to continue the medication. After this experience, I am NEVER taking this drug again. While I've lost 25 lbs in the past 7 weeks, I believe it's mostly because I've been afraid to eat anything. I will continue to eat healthy and cut carbs and sugars, but I won't be taking Mounjaro again."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I’m taking this for both weight loss and sleep apnea. Back in April, I weighed approximately 284 pounds, and now I’m 249 pounds. Zepbound has definitely been working in my favor. It really made me realize how I’ve been eating more than I need to. I don’t eat as much as I used to because my appetite has lowered a lot. I started at 2.5, and now I’m at 5.0. Diarrhea is the main side effect I’ve had, and ever since I started eating better, I haven’t had that problem anymore. I have more energy than I used to. I’m able to walk longer distances, as well as walking up and down stairs a lot easier."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am 55 years old and going through menopause. From weighing 165 pounds, I have gained 40 pounds. I started having sleep apnea, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. I am on my second shot of Zepbound. The side effects of the first dose were really bad, I had diarrhea for one week. The side effects are not bad now. I am sleeping better, I don't hear myself snoring, and I have lost 6 pounds."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started my Zepbound journey in August 2024. I have been on .50 the whole time. I've lost 40 lbs using this medicine, which is amazing! In February, out of nowhere, I started to get side effects after my shot: nausea and diarrhea. Thinking it was the flu, I nursed myself back. Shot day is Wednesdays. On Saturday, the diarrhea came back again. I truly am excited for my weight loss journey but am literally pooped out."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Effortlessly went from 250 lbs to 198 lbs in 9 months, with very minimal side effects! It took me this long to go through the gradual dosage increases. When I missed a few weeks here and there, I regained weight. I’ve been extra committed to the regularity of doses after that! My only side effects have been: some mild constipation (take mg citrate to fight that), very mild diarrhea, heartburn that increased as the dosage mg increased, although eating TUMS like candy took care of it (but expensive because I insist on having the TUMS that taste good to me), and injection site reactions (similar to a mosquito bite ≈ 3 days, managed with OTC cortisol cream and/or OTC roll-on 4% lidocaine). I used to have no off switch; was always hungry! Now, my mom (Wegovy) and I look at each other in amazement and ask, “Is this what it feels like to be normal?” She’s been up to 300 lbs, had bariatric surgery, we’ve both done keto, nothing lasted. She’s now 160!"

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am 5'2" and 46 years old. I started Zepbound on 8/20/2024 at 166 pounds. I took the 2.5 mg dose for one month, then increased to 5 mg in Oct. and Nov. I had very mild side effects, and I steadily lost weight until last week. I have now increased to the 7.5 mg dose, and the nausea and diarrhea are pronounced. I'm down 30 pounds, but I may switch back to the 5 mg dose if the side effects don't subside."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started out at 2.5 mg. I had terrible diarrhea for weeks. I was encouraged to keep taking it, and eventually, everything calmed down. After losing 60 pounds, I quit for about 6 months to give my system a break. I've started taking it again at 5 mg and haven't had any problems."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started on a 2.5 mg dose for 30 days and had nothing positive or negative. The doctor increased it to 12.5 mg, and my appetite went to zero, stomach pain, throw-up, diarrhea, general nausea, and ill feeling, but did lose 15 lbs in 3 weeks, and my blood labs were near perfect. I was ready to quit until I saw this. The second month, my appetite came back slightly, and I learned to eat less and cleaner so it wouldn’t make me throw up, lost another 15 lbs, and it excited me to get back in the gym daily. Since the drug slows your digestion, it slows the bowel too, which gave me insane constipation and made sure I eat enough fiber daily. At first, the side effects are hell, but stick with it as they only lasted a month, then your body adjusts and you learn how to eat and work with it. The end results are worth it. It's been 9 months, and I have lost 35 lbs, labs are excellent, and for the first time, I have seen glucose under 100 in 30 years."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "48 years old female started 2.5 mg one month ago and experienced very little, if any, side effects. I lost 10 lbs, started at 274. Just took my first dose of 5.0 on Thursday and initially felt fine but started to struggle with diarrhea that just won't stop. Will see if it's unrelated or not and adjust accordingly. This medication also immediately got rid of my swollen feet, and so far it has not returned. That alone is worth the cost."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I think it’s a remarkable product. I have experienced intermittent diarrhea, bloating, and gas. I started out at the lowest dose and just raised my dose last week. Unfortunately, this has been accompanied by strong stomach pain and fairly severe diarrhea. I am pushing to get through this part, as I am pleased with my results of losing 17 pounds in three months. My cravings are gone, and sometimes I do have to push myself to eat. Mylanta and Gas-X have been my friend. Really helps you feel better."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Severe nausea, horrid vomiting and diarrhea after 7.5 mg dose - did okay with 2.5 and 5 mg doses - there should be more warnings with the higher doses as this was severe. Higher doses should be reviewed further for safety reasons."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "Went to the doctor and asked for something to help lose weight. He prescribed this medication. Day 1 and 2... nothing. Day 3 woke up with horrible heartburn and sour sulfur burps and facts and was constipated. By day 3 evening, I no longer had constipation but just the opposite... diarrhea! And not just any kind, it was like yellow water and very acidic. It hurt! Had horrible gas and belching all day Saturday, and Sunday couldn't hardly leave the bathroom to go buy Imodium. Imodium helped with that, but the gas is now trapped, and my stomach hurts badly, and I am full of gas with bad heartburn and belching. I saw a correlation between fatty foods and severe side effects of this product. But unless you're a vegan, you eat fat, and that's a major problem with this product. It is now Monday night, and I cannot seem to get my work done, I hurt so badly. I will never take this product again, and I cannot in good conscience recommend it with all the terrible side effects. Shame on Mounjaro!"

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started out on the 2.5 for 2 months and lost 15 lbs, and my A1C dropped from 6.7 to 6.0. Mild side effect symptoms of abdominal pain and nausea. I started the 5 mg and had explosive diarrhea and uncontrollable vomiting, with abdominal and back pain. My blood pressure dropped to 88/55. I had to stop taking the Mounjaro. After 3 weeks, I am starting to feel normal again. Sorry it didn’t work for me. It did curb the appetite."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I was on Wegovy for a few months starting last year. I had GI issues going on and ended up getting off Wegovy in January of this year. I had gallbladder removal surgery in March. Issues went away. I consulted with my GI doctor to see if I could get back on Wegovy. He said I should be fine. Went to my PCP and asked about getting back on Wegovy. She recommended Zepbound as “side effects are less.” I’ve been on Zepbound for 3 months now. Lowest dose. After the second day of injection, I get the worst sulfur burps and diarrhea. Once I have a sulfur burp, the diarrhea is inevitable. It’s gotten to the point where it wakes me up in the middle of the night and I have to use the bathroom. This just started happening within the last month. It usually lasts about a day. Never had these issues with Wegovy. In fact, Wegovy worked much quicker with me as far as losing weight. Didn’t have these burps and diarrhea when I took it for months."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I’ve been taking 2.5 ml for 4 weeks and had few side effects apart from zero appetite, a little nausea, and a migraine (think the migraine was due to not eating). Now, week 5, increased to 5 ml and a different story: quite a lot of nausea, diarrhea, headache, and tiredness. Also again, total lack of appetite. Fortunately, these side effects more or less calmed down 2 or 3 days after taking the dose. I’m hoping it’s a temporary thing when you take a new dose - I can live with that."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I’m struggling to get below 154 lbs, and being 5’, that’s a lot of weight to carry, which induces back pain. Lost 20 lbs on Ozempic from the beginning of the year till June, have managed to gain back 5 lbs, which isn’t awful but still not at my goal weight. I just left the ER from getting a bolus of saline due to dehydration. I’m battling hypoglycemia. I took my first shot on Tuesday. Wednesday felt decent, but malaise was setting in. Thursday, I didn’t even realize I had not eaten all day and all night at work. Friday night, I tried to eat half of a sandwich and was completely nauseous. Tonight at work, after eating half a sandwich and a few green beans, I had terrible diarrhea and became so dizzy and nauseated I was forced to leave work, having someone else take over my patients. Just a word of advice: if you’re a busy person, this med may not be for you. I had side effects of fever, chills, nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, and muscle pain, and I was negative for flu, COVID, and strep. The doctor said to go back to Ozempic :( but I’ve lost 6 lbs already!"

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have had zero issues with the drug when I do right. If I overeat, I have diarrhea and sulfur burps for sure. When I start my day with protein and coffee, and drink lots of water, I have zero issues. But if I mess up like I did this week (ate breakfast, lunch, happy hour, snacked), I was up all night in a world of hurt, and I still haven't fully recovered. I haven't noticed a significant weight loss in 5 weeks (10 pounds), but it’s been steady. Just DO NOT OVEREAT and drink plenty of water."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "Type 2 - I had been on Ozempic. It made me vomit/diarrhea, had Charley horses and hand tremors, and I was belching acid. After 3 months, my Endo switched me to Mounjaro, stating it was stronger, but many people tolerate it better. Week one, I was sick six days. All the same symptoms I had on Ozempic, only more severe. Heart rate 15 beats higher per minute. Week two, I was sick five days. Week three, within 12 hours, all the same symptoms began, and more. The vomiting was severe (mouth and nose). The belching was rank smelling/tasting. Diarrhea. My appetite was definitely curbed. My belly sounded like a flood of water flowing through my innermost pipes but felt numb. Eyes were so dry. My watch alerted me that at night my respiration rate was dipping to 7.5. (Did not even know my watch tracked that!) My heart rate dipped to 45. My blood sugar went to 43. Felt like I was not going to breathe or control peeing. And more! Day five, I ended up in the hospital in AFIB with a high heart rate. ICU."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "First 2 weeks on low dose was okay. Minor GI disturbances. I normally have loose stools but had well-formed stools during those 2 weeks. Stayed on low dose for the 3rd week. Was a little constipated at first, so ordered a large salad from my favorite café. Maybe that's what triggers everything. That night I could not sleep because my gout became very painful, and I had to deal with the diarrhea. I am now feeling pretty drained and weak. Generally feel a tad light-headed."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have just finished my first month of 2.5 mg and have increased the dose to 5 mg. This past Friday was the first time I have taken the 5 mg dose. Twenty-four hours after taking the shot on Friday am, I start a time of liquid diarrhea and stomach cramps that seems to completely clear my system from anything I have eaten in the last couple of days. After the ~24-hour period, the diarrhea subsides, and I feel like my system has rejected all food or nutrition that has been consumed. My appetite is definitely reduced from taking the shots, but I think the mental part of this battle is the biggest challenge for me. My wife has been on this program for a couple of years now and has said that the shots offer some type of chemical balance, and imbalance results that support or help change behavior. The amount that I eat at different times during the day will need to be addressed before I start seeing significant changes."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I’ve been on Zepbound since 8/1/24 (305 lbs, 5’6). So far, I lost 65 lbs, I’m 45 lbs away from my goal. My current dose is 10 mg. I experience side effects within 24 hours of injection administration, ranging from nausea, vomiting, belching, diarrhea, abdominal pain, fatigue, and dizziness. The side effects last about 24-36 hours. The medication definitely decreases my appetite and cravings. My doctor stopped my BP medication as I continue losing weight and my BP readings are good. My husband has noticed that I stopped snoring, lol. My plan is to reach my weight goal and stop the medication. I have changed my relationship with food. I look at food more as fuel for my body instead of indulging and overeating. I also introduced portion control and exercise, mostly walking and swimming. My insurance covers the medication."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I’m a 68-year-old female and have lost 50 lbs from January to June 2025. Started with 5 mg injections and now am getting 15 mg injections once per week. Minimal side effects unless I eat too much or eat unhealthy foods - and then I will have nausea and/or diarrhea. The biggest benefit has been that my blood pressure went from approximately 140/90 or so to a very consistent 110/60 or slightly above that, but hasn’t been anywhere near 140/90 since a couple of weeks after I began the injections. The cost has been a bit prohibitive, and I’m hoping that I’ll be able to transition off after I reach my goal weight loss of 75 lbs (without too much weight gain) OR that there will be a generic available and covered by Medicare. I can also breathe much better after climbing stairs and feel so much healthier and am able to play with my grandkids much more! Thanks so much!"

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "In the two doses, my blood sugar has been lower, my appetite has diminished, and I had no side effects. At the end of the second week (Saturday), I woke up during the night with stomach pain, diarrhea, and belching. After 6 hours, I finally vomited up undigested food that had been in my stomach for over 12 hours. It looked like I had just eaten. I avoided all food until Sunday morning, eating 1/2 of a plain English muffin. I had Lipton chicken soup, a piece of Bavarian pretzel, and a few french fries (picking from my wife’s meal). Monday, I finally felt hungry and had a Whopper Jr. (not a good choice I know), and Tuesday I woke up with food sitting in my stomach and one diarrhea BM. NOTE: I have not taken dose #3, nor do I plan to. This is slowing my digestion down too much. I have never had digestive issues, and I’m not going to start now."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Mounjaro for 7 weeks. The first 4 weeks the dosage was 2.5, and the last 3 weeks it was 5. I love Mounjaro! It takes away my food obsessions and sugar cravings. It lets me focus on life rather than on food. I did get a few minor incidents of diarrhea and an occasional minor feeling of nausea, but they were nothing serious. Mounjaro has helped me lose 15 pounds in 7 weeks and brought my blood sugar from 220 to 120. I wish it were cheaper, but it has been worth it for me."
