For Hashimoto's disease "I've been on Armour forever, but in the last year, I found my dosage going up to 150 plus Liothyronine at 30 mcg/day and all of these horrible symptoms coming back and new ones that I at first thought were lifestyle-induced due to a career change and a move. That was until I found out that Forrester Laboratories was bought out by Allergan in 2015, and the same issues from the 2008-2009 reformulation are being reported in mass numbers...everything from lab issues, high increases in dosages, chronic fatigue, vision issues, skyrocketing co-pays to hair loss, etc. I checked my bottles this weekend and realized that they all read Forrester/Allergan and will be researching new natural options and speaking with my doctor on Monday!"

For Underactive Thyroid "I started taking Nature-Throid one year ago for my hypothyroidism. Since then, my afternoon dip in energy has improved; however, I have experienced another troublesome side effect. I've lost a lot of hair, and I didn't have much to begin with. Also, my eyebrows are disappearing."

For Underactive Thyroid "I took Armour for 12 years, and it worked great. Then they pulled it off the market for several years to reformulate it. It costs about 4 times as much and doesn't work for me at all. Hair loss and makes me extremely agitated. I switched to Nature Throid, but now Express Scripts is out of that. I am hoping NP Thyroid works. Maybe Big Pharma be taken down by good government regulations, so they can't make all the rules for those of us who need medication."

For Underactive Thyroid "I was prescribed Armour Thyroid after trying Synthroid and finding out it didn't work for me. With Synthroid, I actually felt worse: nausea, no appetite, even more tired, but Armour Thyroid was such a relief and made me feel normal again. It made my hair stop falling out at such an alarming rate and helped my weight stabilize. I actually have energy to do things now! I have been told by my pharmacist though that Armour Thyroid is no longer being made. I have to try to switch to another natural thyroid medication, and I'm not sure what my doctor will be giving me. I hope my testimonial on the effectiveness of this medication, in combination with everyone else's, might show how good this medication is and bring it back."

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "On Synthroid for a year post-subtotal thyroidectomy in 2002, gained 17 lbs in just a few months, hair fell out, felt miserable. Switched to Armour in 2003 and got my life and health back. Compounded thyroid is cheaper, so I started using that with no issues until last year, when I was no longer able to get my compounded thyroid as I'm now in the U.K., which only compounds thyroid for animals, not humans. Back on Armour last year and the weight started creeping back up, fatigue set in, cold at night, all the hypo symptoms came back despite my labs looking great. I put on 8 lbs in three months! Switched to Nature Throid and the weight is coming off again, and I feel normal. Forrest Pharma pulled a Martin Shkreli."

For Underactive Thyroid "I have been dealing with hypothyroidism since 1985 - 8 years after having radioactive iodine treatment. I was on Synthroid and levothyroxine for years. And then I heard about the natural treatment with Armour. Started taking that somewhere around 2002. Moved and got a new endocrinologist who said didn't like Armour and put me on levothyroxine. It took me over 9 months to figure out that my problem with my hair falling out was caused by the switch to levothyroxine. (Had multiple tests for all kinds of issues thinking that may have caused the hair loss.) I literally lost 3/4 of my hair. When he switched me back to Armour, within 3 weeks my hair stopped falling out. However, I felt better on the levothyroxine. NOW my dilemma is what to do. I do not want to go back to levothyroxine and have my hair start to fall out again. My TSH went from 8.77 in Jan '23 to 0.01 in March! The MD has changed the dose multiple times and at a very high price to me. I feel awful most of the time."

For Underactive Thyroid "I was on Armour Thyroid for many years. Pharmacy recommended NP because of the price difference, so switched me to NP, and I noticed extreme flu-like symptoms, headaches, hair loss, insomnia, swelling (even facial swelling), all-over body pain, and constant exhaustion. I asked to be switched back to Armour after a month of misery on NP, and to please make note on my account to NEVER give me NP again because of the terrible reactions. After new blood work, I unknowingly was given NP again and took it without realizing that it wasn’t Armour. My life became a living nightmare! The anxiety attacks have been awful. My nails break easily, hair falls out in alarming amounts, continuous dull headaches accompanied by brain fog that has been very concerning. The feeling of exhaustion is unbelievable, and I cannot sleep. Joint pain, miserable indigestion and reflux, profuse sweating, inflammation, and muscle aches. My energy is ZERO, and the crying makes me feel crazy! NP Thyroid is HORRIBLE!!"

For Underactive Thyroid "I gave it 4 stars because I did start to feel better on this medication. I started getting some energy back and felt pretty good. However, the energy boost was not worth the hair loss and weight gain it caused! I really wish I would not have taken it at all!!"

For Hashimoto's disease "My endo told me in June of this year that Armour had stopped working for her patients. I continued on it, I trusted Armour. It has been around forever. Big mistake. I have had inconsistent dosing that made me hypo, which showed on labs and labs that showed my hyper. I had inconsistent dosing in bottles where I'd take a pill and feel fine, another hypo, another like I'd taken speed. Symptoms were terrifying: anxiety, anxiety attacks, racing heartbeat, palpitations, hot flashes, irregular periods, spotting, hot flashes, migraines, dizziness, high cortisol had to be tested for Cushing's-negative, thank goodness-high blood pressure, panic attacks, insomnia, agitation, inability to handle stress of any kind, hair fall, vision problems, nausea with the migraines, all sorts of digestive issues including food intolerances and diarrhea. I've been in fight or flight for months. I was switched to Levoxyl. My last labs on Armour were normal, but I had all the above symptoms."

For Underactive Thyroid "NP Thyroid was prescribed for me for the first time, so I have no other meds to compare to. The first 4 days, energy, positive weight loss. 2 weeks, my hair feeling dry & breaking. Shortly after this, hair is falling out from the root in GREAT amounts! I have fine hair and really cannot lose anymore. My doctor said to cut my 30mg dose in half. This didn’t help, my hair continued falling out. Finally, she said to go off completely. I was on this for one month, 5 days. After going off, I got weepy, depressed, and felt worse than before I started. It’s been 15 days since stopping the NP, and my hair isn’t falling out as much. I’m not feeling as weepy anymore. I have some weird dry bumps on my scalp that just started since this med, and I have a dermatology appointment for that next. The pills smell like urine. I thought that was normal as well. I am going to be very apprehensive about trying another medication. But for now, still dealing with the aftereffects of this horrible medication."

For Underactive Thyroid "I've been on Armour for over 3 months now, and my TSH and T4 levels are only getting worse. I go to the doctor every 3 weeks to have my blood drawn, and there has been no improvement! Every time I go to the doctor, they keep having to up the dosage to 30 mg, and each increase I feel worse and worse. My hair has fallen out, I feel lethargic and achy all over, I can't sleep at night, and when I finally do get to sleep, I wind up staying in bed for 13 hours! I have no energy."

For Hashimoto's disease "Armour Thyroid 60 mg was okay for about 3 months, then I got edema in my feet and hands. Paresthesia in my leg and face. Horrible nerve problems with trembling, shaking hands. I was dizzy and very depressed, hair loss, weight gain, tiredness, sweating, crying, vision problems-couldn’t drive, freezing. I couldn’t function. All my hypo symptoms were worse than ever. Emergency carpal tunnel surgery. Heart palpitations, high blood pressure. I reduced and then stopped, and symptoms started to go away. Back to Synthroid and am a work in progress again. 5 endo docs and none helped me. They just look at TSH. Good luck, everyone. Stay away from Armour, and Nature Thyroid was just as bad. All my scans and blood work normal. Good luck, everyone."

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "After being on Synthroid for thirty years and my levels not staying level, I asked my doctor to switch me to Armour, and they changed my dose one time, and my levels have been right for the last five years, and my hair has quit falling out. I begged my past doctors to try it, and they wouldn’t. Thank goodness for the doctor I have today, plus I’ve been able to lose weight, and I’m almost to where my normal weight should be. I think sometimes doctors should really listen to their patients, thank goodness mine let me try something different, and it’s working."

For Underactive Thyroid "Transitioning from Synthroid. Been on WP Thyroid for 50 days with minimal side effects till the last 10 days. Now experiencing alarming thinning of hair, 80% of eyelashes and hair on arms are gone. Can’t connect with RLC Labs to ask questions."

For Hashimoto's disease "I was on Synthroid for about 15 years, it made my hair fall out, and I was always exhausted. I told my endocrine doc, and he told me that it wasn’t the Synthroid, it was my Hashimoto's :-( Fast forward to two years ago, I moved and got a new doctor and hairdresser. The hairdresser asked me how long I’d been on Synthroid, I told him 15 years. He said to get on a natural NP Thyroid. I did and immediately felt better, and my hair came in thick and shiny!"

For Underactive Thyroid "I've been hypothyroid for 20 years. I can't tell you if this thyroid medicine is bad or not the same. I had horrible reactions to Synthroid, Armor NT, and now WP. I chose WP 6 years ago, and man do I feel like a rockstar! Weight loss was easy, mood, fatigue, skin, and hair loss all gone! Yes, I'm in agreement with everyone here since the recall, not only WP-NT as well, weight gain, thyroid numbers T3-4 FT3 low, RT3 high. Now my iron is off the charts, and I don't use iron since the shortage and here and there getting some last year, I'm a mess. When I spoke to my pharmacist when it aka ran out, he said they are making the drugs in China, really? What pig glandular are they getting??? I swear my iron is elevated from these meds. I never had this issue. I'll be back to report my experience with the GMO-free, grass-fed cows' bovine from New Zealand. Well, it's my turn, bye-bye thyroid meds. And a HUGE thank you to you all and thank you Drugs.com."

For Underactive Thyroid "BEWARE! I don't know how this medication gets so many good reviews. I guess I must be one of the few that this has not helped one bit. I have hypothyroidism and started with Synthroid. I didn't like it all that much and started researching for an alternative and asked my Dr. if I could switch. I thought Armour would be a more natural and better approach to my issue. BIG MISTAKE. This medication does zero for me, it's like not taking anything at all, but you are paying for pills that do nothing. I took this medicine for 4 months because I thought it might take a little extra time to get the benefits everyone raves about. In the course of those months, my hair started falling, my skin was/is looking awful, I felt cold all the time, I have gained weight regardless of what I do, I felt tired every day, I couldn't sleep. I switched to a different brand of porcine thyroid med that does not have great reviews online, but works."

For Underactive Thyroid "I hate this medication. I keep trying to get the pharmacy to switch me back to the Armour Thyroid, but they won't. They claim this is the generic. On NP Thyroid, I feel tired all the time and have all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. My hair is falling out again in clumps, and my weight loss is stalled. I used to be on WP Thyroid before they had manufacturing issues and loved it, but I can't get on it anymore. I think I may have my doctor switch me to Nature-Throid or move my prescription to another pharmacy because I'm tired of feeling tired and lethargic all the time."

For Underactive Thyroid "I was just diagnosed with underachieving thyroid. My labs have been low for quite some time. Trying to heal my leaky gut in hopes of getting my thyroid issues better. Well, after working on it for 6 months with a Functional Medicine NP, it wasn't better, so I just started Armour 30mg. Today is day 1 for me. Hoping many of the symptoms I suffer will get better. I really don't want to be on this. The symptoms I have are early a.m. waking, low sex drive and anorgasmia, cold but sweating, fatigue, muscle loss, muscle weakness, dry skin, thinning hair."

For Underactive Thyroid "My hair began to fall within a month of starting Nature-Throid. I had not been on any thyroid meds prior, and although I have stopped taking Nature-Throid, I have lost about 3/4 of my hair in less than 6 months with zero signs of slowing down. Have cut out inflammatory foods and supplementing as per my naturopath, but to no avail. Still fatigued, leg cramps, irritable (all symptoms prior to meds), and now hair loss. Never again, and I regret taking Nature-Throid."

For Hashimoto's disease "I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's 2 years ago, had been having a lot of stress in my life. I have never been fatigued, but did have weight gain, I gained 20 pounds and had a moon-sized face. I thought that it was grief (lost husband). I am also a nurse. I was put on Synthroid 75 mcg and felt worse, hair started falling out, felt like I was in a dream all of the time, no weight loss, and depression. Told my endo that I felt bad and he ignored me. That's when I started digging into what to eat (I am already a vegetarian), taking supplements, and all of this helped. I went to a family practice doctor and demanded Armour. Felt great for the first two months. I started having the fight or flight feelings. I am now hyperthyroid. Two weeks on lower dose and have lost 15 pounds."

For Hashimoto's disease "I was originally on generic levothyroxine, which I felt horrible on and had to be given 175 mcg to feel even marginally better. Switched doctors and requested Armour, at the time (2014), insurance covered it. Not sure when the Armour reformulation happened, but I've always felt at the most NORMAL on it. There were changed healthcare laws and my insurance booted Armour, so I had to start taking NP. It was awful. I would swing from hyper to hypo in the span of days, constantly losing hair, skin was breaking out and dry, had to take so many supplements to even out the symptoms of Hashimoto's. Was told there was a recall on my NP dose back in June 2020. Decided to switch back to Armour and just pay out of pocket. Three months later, I am feeling like a human being again."

For Underactive Thyroid "I had been on Armour Thyroid for 60 years. First, it was made by Armour and then manufactured by Forest Labs, and it worked fine until they reformulated it. I then took Nature-Throid with no problems up until they had a manufacturing problem. I got tired of paying big bucks for a compounding pharmacy to make it, and for a while, NP Thyroid worked. Then about August 2019, something changed, and my hair was falling out, and I had symptoms like others described. Fortunately, Nature-Throid was once again in production, and I am having no problems with it. Unfortunately, Sam's Club would not reimburse me for the latest bottle because the FDA did not recall it. I would love to take genuine Armour Thyroid again, but I don't know what company is making it."

For Hashimoto's disease "Switched from other brand after moving to a naturopath Dr. to help with my Hashimoto's. I really would not recommend Thyroid NP. For the last 2 years, I’ve had stomach burning, enough to make me think it was an ulcer, and loss of eyebrows and hair on my head, absolutely zero energy, leg aches, weight gain, and a massively foggy brain as of lately… I’ve been off for 3 days, and I can already feel the difference. Leaving my naturopath and heading back to my regular Dr. for Synthroid. I didn’t connect the dots until recently. And this stuff is not regulated well, it had 3 recalls in the last year… that’s not good."

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I, too, have experienced various hypo symptoms since the back order of 2017: dry hair, hair breakage, and hair loss, weight gain, muscular aches and pains, and depression. The company says that nothing has changed, but I disagree. I tried posting on RLC Labs' site, and they blocked me from posting. That says it all! I found out, from someone who has done a lot of research, that the FDA has made RLC change the formula to call it a 'drug,' and I also found out that one of the ingredients is propylene glycol, a derivative of anti-freeze. I am not quite sure about that, though. I do know that whatever they did since the recall has caused problems for many, many people. I am now going to try a compounding pharmacy that will make up a pill with the same ratio of T3 T4 with only one filler, microcrystalline cellulose. Hopefully, this will finally help me feel better!"
