For Social Anxiety Disorder "I have been taking Zoloft for almost two weeks now. First time on an antidepressant. I was nervous starting it due to what I heard about side effects. My anxiety has gotten bad, and every day is a struggle. When I started taking Zoloft, I did notice right away side effects. Mainly, my arms felt really warm right after taking it for the first few days. The first few days, my stomach was pretty upset, nauseous, dizzy, tired, and weak. I was in bed for 3 days. After a few days, my symptoms got better. I feel a lot better. My stomach is still a little sensitive, and when I wake up in the morning, I’m a little shaky, but it goes away. I still feel pretty tired, but I am noticing a change in the way I feel. My anxiety is starting to decrease, and I am starting to feel more normal. I gave this an 8 due to only being two weeks. I’m seeing positives so far, but I know I still have a few weeks to go until the drug completely takes effect, and as of right now, my anxiety is still there. I am hopeful for the future, though."

For Panic Disorder "I started having bad panic attacks when starting a new job and was expecting my second child the next month. I struggled with working and eventually had to quit to really get a grip on my anxiety. I have always been hesitant about antidepressants, thinking they would change how I think and who I am. I started taking them at my lowest point. Bad panic attacks, impending doom thoughts, repetitive negative thinking all day. Zoloft 25 mg, I had a little nausea and a few times where I had to lay down. 50 mg is when the waking up at night hit. 75 mg was more pleasant with some night sweats. Now I’m on 100 mg and feel so much more confident. I’ve been taking it for 2 months now and definitely feel an improvement. I find myself not giving any attention to negative thoughts anymore. Yes, they still come up from time to time, but I don’t obsess over them like I used to. To me, the side effects were well worth it for the relief I have from this mental illness."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I've had a lot of success with Zoloft, both as an antidepressant and for generalized anxiety disorder. It has worked for me for almost 2 years now and has really kept my symptoms under control. I'm of very small weight and sensitive to medications, so 25 mg works for me reasonably well. I have had to up my dosage to 50 mg during times of high stress, and it has helped so much. The only side effects I have experienced were a little nausea, some apathy, and insomnia. Other than that, I have tolerated this medication very well. It helps me put things into perspective and stops me from having such negative, anxiety-ridden thinking patterns. It helps me live in the moment and takes away a lot of my worries. I would definitely recommend."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "I am a 30-year-old female and have been taking Zoloft for 4 days now, and I am definitely starting to feel a difference. My thoughts don't race constantly, and I don't worry constantly about every terrible thing that could potentially happen to me or my family. I've been more patient with my kids and less picky with my husband. I had nausea for the first day, but that passed. I still feel tired a lot, though, and have had some tightness in my chest. My most uncomfortable side effect is feeling the need to yawn all the time. The other reviews have given me hope that if I wait it out, my side effects will improve. Thanks to all of you for sharing your experiences."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I was prescribed Zoloft in late 2008, and I have been on it ever since. I have a minor case of OCD, which is all in my head. I tend to be obsessive with repetitive thoughts, and if I don't think about it, then I basically freak out with anxiety. I know it's so weird, but I guess God made everyone unique in their own way. Anyway, did Zoloft help me? I must say definitely YES. Although my OCD does come back from time to time, it is nowhere near as bad now compared to how it used to be. The repetitive thoughts have decreased by about 80%, and that is more than I can ever ask for. However, I experience weird side effects when I forget to take it, like nausea, lightheadedness, and 'brain zaps.' Got to take the good with the bad, I guess."

For Depression "I started these pills when I was 12 for anxiety and depression, and now I am 19. They work, that is to say, I'm not suicidal, and I can function in society, but I have certainly had side effects. No sex drive and cannot orgasm, terrible nausea and headaches, jaw clenching, vivid nightmares, and mood swings. It is definitely a give-and-take medicine if you can live with the effects."

For Depression "Zoloft was great for controlling my depression, anxiety, and obsessive thinking. The side effects were not terrible, all but one of them went away in about a month. The ones that only lasted through the first month were: feeling tired and drained as well as an occasional but mild headache. However, the only long-lasting side effect was decreased sex drive, which unfortunately never subsided for me. The drive is still there, it just isn't as intense. This is a great medicine for depression, anxiety, and obsessive thoughts. If you haven't tried it, please do."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I can remember being on this for just two months last year. What did improve while I was taking it was my concentration. I started reading every book in sight. I stopped taking the Zoloft because I thought it made me sick to my stomach and also gave me tics. I guess I should have waited out the side effects because I thought my ability to read was fantastic."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I have been on Zoloft for a year to treat OCD. This drug has taken away my painful and destructive symptoms, though this is a process that has been aided by intensive talk therapy. My side effects are increasing in intensity as time goes on; mainly dry mouth and nausea. However terrible these side effects may sound, I would rather deal with them than the symptoms of OCD and depression on any given day."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "My doctor switched me to Zoloft. I was taking bupropion for about 5 months, but it was causing me to be snappy and a lot of anxiety. So he switched me to Zoloft, it's been 3 weeks, and the first week and a half was the hardest. I had nausea, diarrhea, and tiredness. But it went away, now I'm only tired at times but feel way better. I recommend it."

"Zoloft (50 mg) really helped with anxiety and depression; I no longer wake up wanting to call it quits at life, spending hours lost in the thoughts in my head, and I have way more capacity to handle stressors. I don't even remember the last time I had an anxiety attack, which I never thought would be possible as someone who used to have them daily. The first 4 weeks of side effects were the worst (headache, dry mouth, nausea), but around week six, the initial side effects wore off. The one thing I'm noticing though after a year of taking it has been excruciating migraines and about 30 lb of weight gain, which have been brutal - I'm beginning to realize it's the Zoloft."

For Major Depressive Disorder "For the past 9 months, I have had a mixed major depressive/anxiety episode. I have started therapy from the beginning of the episode, which helped me cope for a while, but it was going nowhere. Finally, I went to see a psychiatrist last week and was put on 50 mg Zoloft. Don't know if it's placebo or not, but I'm already starting to feel better. My anxiety level has gone down, and I'm feeling more clear-minded, level-headed, and hopeful. The first 4 days were hell because it was making me nauseated, bloated, and extremely tired and restless at the same time. On day 7 now, and I'm feeling great."

For Depression "I've been on it for 4 weeks and suffer horrible dreams, panic attacks, dizziness, and nausea. The doctor says keep taking it, I say forget that business. How can something that is supposed to help you give you panic attacks? I'm flushing the meds down the drain and am going to see another doctor. In all honesty, I would much rather deal with the depression than feel like this. There are better ways to live, people, and not continue to be pharmaceutical lab rats. At least being depressed, I have no emotions, which is far better than sitting in a corner crying for no reason. Good luck."

For Panic Disorder "I was experiencing horrible panic attacks about 2 weeks ago. It lasted days. Extremely fast heartbeat, not being able to breathe, literally, I thought I was going to die. I went to the hospital twice, and they checked me out but said I was okay. I went to my doctor the day after the second hospital trip, and he put me on 100 mg of Zoloft and 1 mg of Ativan. I've been on Zoloft maybe a week, and it has worked well on stopping my symptoms and panics, but it's not at 100 percent, as I still feel pretty uneasy. But in time, I feel it will continue to benefit me, I know you have to give it more time to fully work. My side effects are bad nausea, restlessness, and cloudy head, which has gone away pretty much."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I had high hopes for Zoloft to help my fibromyalgia, PMDD, PTSD. The first week I took this, I began having the worst anxiety attacks of my life. Too nauseous to eat, diarrhea, and migraines. I waited it out a month, suffering from extreme anxiety, which it was supposed to help me get rid of in the first place. Made my usual anxiety seem like nothing. It did nothing at all for my chronic pain, made me feel as if I was going crazy and not able to function."

For Depression "I was on Zoloft for 8 years. Most of those on a minimum maintenance dose. In the last few years, it affected my memory, and it didn't work as well for the depression and anxiety. Does a good job treating PMS. I had to go off eventually, but it was a good run. Had night sweats and some sexual side effects. I also would feel nauseous if I was hungry while I was on it. Best to take at night."

For Depression "I have been on sertraline for 4 weeks now. I started on 6 mg...yes, I cut up the pills into 1/8! After 1 day of nausea, I felt much better. After 2 weeks, I moved up to 12.5 mg. Still feeling great. I wish I had done this years ago. While my main problem is anxiety, on reflection, I have been depressed for years. Hope the very low dose continues to work. Life is just so much better. I am not constrained by wanting to go home all the time and most amazing anxiety over ridiculous things like waiting in line, etc."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Started at 25 for about two weeks, then went to 50. Each dosage change brought back a few symptoms, but all are gone in a few days. Zoloft helped me a lot, I had never taken an antidepressant before, so I was nervous. My intrusive thoughts are gone one month later!! Don't read too much into this page, it caused me to have anxiety/panic attacks. My biggest problem was swallowing, but that was due to anxiety. I didn't want to take the anxiety meds on top of Zoloft, so I just waited the attacks out, last max two hours. Just know to gradually increase your dosage and to check in with the prescribing person when you have concerns. Side effects: nausea, fatigue, loose stools, blurry vision in the morning, breast felt numb (gone now), dry mouth (gum!!)."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "Zoloft was a serious life-changer for me. I cannot express how tormenting and horrific my OCD was. It was extremely unbearable, and I really wanted to die until I took Zoloft. At first, it was amazing (and still is, by the way), but I feel like its effectiveness decreased, or maybe my OCD just became worse because I can't stop thinking about how horrible of a human I am, or at least supposed to be. But aside from all that, I get great sleep at night and feel refreshed in the morning. It really helps with anxiety and worry. I love it so much and seriously recommend it for OCD patients out there. The only side effects I am experiencing are nausea and dry mouth, but you can deal with them!"

For Depression "After around six weeks, my appetite was the first thing to come back. Suddenly, after over two months of pure nausea and vomiting due to my anxiety and depression whenever I tried to eat or think about food, I look forward to my meals again. I have seen a HUGE reduction in my intrusive suicidal thoughts. My anxiety levels have gone from an 8 to a 4. Today, they were pretty much at a 2/3. I wake up, and I don’t dread the day. I can think about beginning to process my emotions again. I feel hopeful about the future. This is my second time using Zoloft, and this time I can see a much more noticeable effect for some reason (I think my depression was worse this time around). I stigmatized myself SO much for having to go back on the SSRIs after going through the whole weaning-off process only months before, but oh my god, am I glad I got over that stupid idea. Who the hell cares that you take a pill every day! I also take a multivitamin, same difference. Do it, please, if you need."

For Depression "I am a 22-year-old female and taking Zoloft for social anxiety. About a day after starting this medication, I began clenching my jaw really tight. My jaw started aching after a couple of days because of the clenching. I had a panic attack on the train 3 days after starting this. I had nausea and a loss of appetite. The medicine did not really ease my symptoms, in fact, I would get random occurrences where I would feel extremely nervous and find it difficult to breathe. My breathing became very shallow. I am weaning myself off it after 40 days on it."

For Depression "I started to develop depression around puberty. Over the years, it became more and more intense. Some days I would cry and have to leave school. Around two years ago, my doctor put me on 50 mg of Zoloft. The first few weeks were a wreck, I had terrible nausea, was tired all the time, could barely eat, and some days I would experience a zombie feeling. After the Zoloft started to kick in, the side effects subsided. I went through bouts of not taking it, and then I would feel bad and start taking it again. Every time I went back on the pill, the stomach pains increased to where I would eat once every other day. Since then, I have been put on a new medication that I hope starts kicking in. All in all, Zoloft was amazing if you stick to it."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "Zoloft has helped with my anxiety and PMS. Just think twice about going on something like this unless you really need it. I tried going off of it once and was absolutely nauseous for 8 months straight, I could barely eat. I thought it would get better, but ultimately I had to go back on Zoloft, then my symptoms subsided. So just a holistic route before starting on these types of medication."

For Panic Disorder "After working with a therapist for 4 months to overcome my panic disorder and obsessional thoughts, I realized I needed some extra help. I began to take Zoloft, first at 25 mg to ease into the symptoms, and later increased to 50. I began to notice relief from symptoms after about 2 weeks of taking the medication. I still have bothersome thoughts that circle in and out through my mind during the day, but the nausea and the heart pounding that comes with the thoughts do not happen anymore. I am able to recognize my symptoms as those of panic disorder and can move forward feeling positive. The only side effects I experienced were headache and nausea the first few days. I am going to continue therapy and hopefully one day overcome this."
