For Depression "I switched from Prozac (which, if anything, made me feel more depressed) to Zoloft about a month ago, and it has been FANTASTIC. 75 mg a day, kicked in about 2 weeks, little to no side effects, more energy, and generally just a massive relief. In my case, it's also caused a bit of weight loss (around 5 pounds), which is likely due to the medicine causing a loss of appetite and some diarrhea, which is far from pleasant."

For Panic Disorder "I love Zoloft. I struggled with severe panic attacks associated with driving and social interactions. Also, I had mild depression. What I will say is to find the right dosage for you and don't be afraid to talk about increasing the dosage if it's not working after a few months. I did lose my appetite for a while initially. Also, do not abruptly stop taking it, that spiraled me into a severe depression."

For Postpartum Depression "I started Zoloft about a week ago. I think I feel better. My anxiety and the 'what if' thoughts do not seem to bother me as much. I still feel sad at times. I am going to stay on it longer to get the full effect. Side effects: loss of appetite, stomach pain, headache, mood swings. I was in a bad place. My anxiety was terrible. Racing thoughts-my brain just would not shut off. I had no control. It's just a really bad feeling. I didn't want to try any medicine, I put it off for a week, but my doctor kept calling me and convinced me to come in. She said PPD is a real thing and it's nothing I did wrong. I felt ashamed of my feelings. I should be happy, I just had a beautiful, healthy newborn baby. All I felt was sad and worried about everything."

For Depression "I am a 22-year-old female and taking Zoloft for social anxiety. About a day after starting this medication, I began clenching my jaw really tight. My jaw started aching after a couple of days because of the clenching. I had a panic attack on the train 3 days after starting this. I had nausea and a loss of appetite. The medicine did not really ease my symptoms, in fact, I would get random occurrences where I would feel extremely nervous and find it difficult to breathe. My breathing became very shallow. I am weaning myself off it after 40 days on it."

For Depression "I started to develop depression around puberty. Over the years, it became more and more intense. Some days I would cry and have to leave school. Around two years ago, my doctor put me on 50 mg of Zoloft. The first few weeks were a wreck, I had terrible nausea, was tired all the time, could barely eat, and some days I would experience a zombie feeling. After the Zoloft started to kick in, the side effects subsided. I went through bouts of not taking it, and then I would feel bad and start taking it again. Every time I went back on the pill, the stomach pains increased to where I would eat once every other day. Since then, I have been put on a new medication that I hope starts kicking in. All in all, Zoloft was amazing if you stick to it."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "Zoloft was the first antidepressant I had been put on. It was mainly prescribed for my anxiety but also for my problems with depression, and as soon as I started taking it, I started to feel better (possible placebo effect). I had to build up the dosage slowly because the side effects were moderately harsh on me. Although it did not make me tired like Luvox does to me, it gave me stomach aches and decreased appetite. And I had periods of dizziness as well. I was beginning to see improvement, especially because I began it during the summer when most of my stress was coming from school. But after about 3 months, when I went on vacation, my symptoms came back out of nowhere, and I slowly went off of it. I am on Luvox now. I am 14 years old."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "The first day I took 25 mg and randomly about 3 hours later I was just smiling uncontrollably along with a calm feeling in my head. The next few weeks were hell with the side effects, but it was worth the wait. Two months later and I really understand how this drug works on me. It sort of keeps my mood at a 'flatline' level where the peak of my sadness is lower, but my happiness seemed to have less of a 'peak' as well. My libido was absolutely destroyed. I seem to have an apathetic sense about life now. Everything seems bland. My appetite was killed as well, and I keep losing weight, and I am underweight as it is. I am going back from 50 mg to 25 mg. Overall, I am happier on Zoloft, but there are horrible side effects too."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "I have been on Zoloft for about one year. Was on 25 mg, I recently increased the dosage to 50 mg to help get through a stressful time. It has definitely worked for me. This increase, though, I am noticing more dry mouth and stomach upset, decreased appetite. I have had really bad anxiety about social situations and sleep (not getting enough). I hated going places or being around people. This medication has helped me greatly. I'm hoping it will continue to do so on 50 mg, and I hope to step back down so I do not get the burnout effect that so many people talk about."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "Started taking sertraline 8 days ago, 25 mg for my anxiety. Well, so far it has been hard. I am experiencing all side effects: increased anxiety, insomnia, nausea, complete loss of appetite, sweating. I am waking up at 5 every morning with anxiety and have to force myself to go to work. I also take 1/2 a Xanax 2-3 times a day. I have 2 teenage kids and am barely able to function, i.e., cook dinner because I feel so nauseous. At times of increased anxiety, I feel like I am losing my mind. Tonight is night 8, and I have been awake since 1 am. I took 1/2 Xanax and still can't sleep. Trying to stick it out, but I am really struggling because I have to go to work to pay the mortgage. Reading these pages gives me a bit of hope, but I don't know how long I can last."

For Panic Disorder "This past year, I would get panic attacks that would lead to anxiety. The sensations and feelings would last a day or two and would go away (happened three different times). Then in early October, it happened and didn't go away. My doctor prescribed me 50 mg of Zoloft (once a day) and the lowest dose of Xanax (as needed). The first week of Zoloft was a nightmare. The anxiety was at an all-time high, no appetite, dry mouth, diarrhea, and couldn't sleep. The Xanax was able to take the edge off a little bit. If I didn't have the Xanax, I probably would have stopped taking the Zoloft. After 10 days, things became a little less intense. I was able to eat, anxiety was still present but at a much lower level, and stomach issues were no longer. About 5-6 weeks later, I noticed that I am back to almost 100% anxiety-free. It comes and goes, but it is a lot easier to deal with it. Not constantly stressing. It was worth it. Don't give up. Therapy also helped me!"

For Depression "I've only taken 50 mg for two days now, so I can't rate it or say too much about it yet. So far, I can honestly say I feel a little more at ease, less low, but no drastic change yet (as expected!). The only problems so far are loss of appetite, and I found it hard to sleep for more than 4 hours last night. I hope this works for me as it's worked for so many others."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "Female, 23, anxiety disorder. I have been on this medication for almost a year. I have dealt with anxiety my whole life, and finally, when I was having trouble going to school and work, I turned to Zoloft. It has improved my quality of life. I have had the dose increased from 25 to 50 to 75. Side effects I have felt include: loss of appetite, dizziness, and mood swings. All side effects happened with the start and increase of the medicine and subside after getting used to it. I still have breakdowns sometimes, but not as often."

For Depression "Gave one star to Zoloft for its effort, but really it deserves zero stars from my experience. I was on Remeron, then Cipralex (Lexapro for American users) for almost a year, and when it stopped working, I decided to go with Zoloft after reading good reviews. Zoloft slowly turned me into the worst version of myself. Constant anger, irritation, nausea, no appetite, no motivation, and, man, the heartburn was unreal. And the list goes on and on. I took it for a week at 25 mg and 3 weeks at 50 mg to give it a shot, but I had to stop because I was just falling apart. I am currently on Effexor, it's been almost a week, and it is slowly putting me back together from the Zoloft disaster."

For Depression "I have been on Zoloft for more than 20 years. Over the last 6-8 months, I have had increased side effects: diarrhea, loss of appetite, not sleeping, sleeping too much, just laying around waiting for the next trip to the bathroom. I had blood work, colonoscopy, endoscopy, you name it. Nothing! I read up on Zoloft side effects. Bingo! I started tapering off. Already, all of my symptoms are improving. It's been only three days. Depression is the same."

For Depression "I started taking Zoloft about 1 month ago for depression. I take it in the morning. Right now, the side effects outweigh the benefits. I, too, have the shakes, some sexual side effects, and loss of appetite. I'm feeling a bit more anxiety and excessive yawning. The worst of it has been the problems with my lower GI (diarrhea). My doctor wants me to try and wait it out. He seems to think the side effects will subside. I'm reading positive things here. I'll stick it out and see if things improve for me."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "I just started taking Zoloft 3 days ago for general and social anxiety. I have experienced side effects that include headaches, discomfort in my chest, nausea, decrease in appetite, losing weight already. Sometimes it feels like my head is bound up. I used to get really tense while driving, but with the medicine I don't get tense, just alert. I haven't been back to school or work, so I'm not sure how effective it is for my social anxiety. I am now generally happy, and I do not experience worrisome thoughts as much. It makes me tired, and sometimes I just pass out and wake up with insomnia. I used to be very mean to my dog, I think he is seeing a difference in my behavior. I'm hoping the symptoms become less. 50mg then 100mg."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "Never felt worse in my entire life. Within the first couple of hours after taking Zoloft for the first time, I passed out, was vomiting, had cold sweats, hot flashes, headache, and extreme fatigue. Two days after I stopped taking it, I still have no appetite and zero energy. I would describe it as the worst I ever felt in my life, and I’ve had mono before."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I was on this for 2.5 weeks. I was on a 50 mg dosage, and I don't know if it was too much for my body (I weigh under 110), but the severity of my panic and anxiety worsened. At first, it made me have insomnia, and then after a week, it was the complete opposite - uncontrollably falling asleep immediately about 30 minutes after taking the dose, and it became incredibly hard to wake up in the morning. It would feel like lifting 400 lbs to make my legs move in the morning, and I would still feel tired after 14 hours of sleep. My fearful thoughts became worse and completely clouded my head, and I had this overwhelming feeling of impending doom resulting in panic attacks. Also, loss of appetite from a combination of the extreme dry/cracked mouth and nausea."

For Depression "I need to preface this review that I am taking it in conjunction with 2 mg of Abilify. I take both Abilify at 2 mg and Zoloft at 50 mg daily. The first 12 days are pretty rough. The first week in particular I experienced plenty of side effects: the loss of appetite, the numbness, and just a general depressive state. Now on day 14, I'm starting to feel a general sense of returning to the person I used to be. A sense of confidence and pride have returned to me. I can't recommend it without the Abilify for me. That is why it gets an 8/10 and not a straight 10."

For Depression "I started taking this medicine over a week ago... And let me say I feel WAY worse than I ever did. I started Zoloft 12.5 mg because I was feeling depressed and had anxiety, well, it's gotten worse. I feel stuck... Head's foggy... Worsening anxiety... Have no emotions... Panic attacks... Can't sleep... Can't concentrate... Can't shower... Can't eat... I don't know whether to stick it out or try a new medicine, all I know so far is this has been the worst thing ever!! I just want to go back to my old self.:("

For Major Depressive Disorder "Week 1 and 2 was hell. Week 3 and 4 was a bit better, but still hell. I could not function really, and I was thinking about death, along with some insomnia. No appetite, and I lost 15 lbs. At the beginning of Week 5, I felt the transition in a few hours. I put on the pants, went outside, and bought a burger. I was just OK with being, and I felt a transformation. I also started Bupropion for smoking a few days ago."

For Depression "I have been taking Zoloft for about a month and a half now. I have noticed severe loss of appetite, and I have been vomiting after I take the medication (even with the consumption of food). I have also been dizzy and more tired throughout the day. I also experienced low sex drive, slight memory loss, and lack of motivation. On the upside, I haven't had any panic attacks, thoughts of suicide, and I have not cried since taking the medication."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "I started this medication a week ago for anxiety and IBS. Within the first 24 hours of taking it, I was already experiencing almost all the side effects: nausea, increased anxiety, dizziness, loss of appetite, headache, stomach pain, and drowsiness. I kept taking it because the side effects should subside after a week or two, but they were too severe to continue taking it. I lost 4 pounds in a week, and I became so weak from not eating that I couldn’t function well. I stopped taking it today, and my appetite is starting to come back."

For Depression "I was recently given this in addition to Wellbutrin to help with anxiety and depression. I was to take 25 mg a day for 4 days, then move up to 50. Right off the bat, I noticed that this made me tired, but when I took the 50 mg dose, my stomach got upset and I threw up about an hour later. Slept a long time. I woke up and felt some of the worst depression I had felt in months. I felt extremely tired, no appetite, angry, no drive, foggy-headed. I've never had any success with basic SSRIs. I was prescribed this medication over 10 years ago. It was a failure then, and it is a failure now. The only AD I can seem to tolerate is Wellbutrin. I don't see the doc for a while, until then, I will be using other tools to combat my depression."
