Sertraline for Social Anxiety Disorder "I started with Zoloft for GAD and derealization. I started with 25mg for one week and then I upped to 50mg, but the side effects were too bad, so I went back down to 25mg. My God, the beginning was terrible! Anxiety was so much worse, feeling terrified, depressed, feeling guilt, crying, brain fog, and nausea. I lost almost 8kg in 2 weeks because I couldn't eat. My psychiatrist told me to take 0.5mg of Clonazepam until the side effects lift. After exactly 4 weeks, I can say that all the side effects are gone. I feel a bit sleepy, but I am much more calm, no anxiety at all, no guilty feeling. Derealization is still here but much less, and I don't care about her, so she will go away with time too. I went back to work and started socializing again. I take only 1/8 of Clonazepam now. I will up my dose in a few days, but slowly. I PROMISE you that the starting side effects will pass. Trust me! I know how hard it is. This is a reminder for me too if the upping brings back the side effects."

Sertraline for Social Anxiety Disorder "Headaches and a little nausea at the start, now 4 months in, I don't know how I coped before. The anxious 'bad butterflies' that I thought were normal have gone away. Obsessive overthinking and cringing after I got home because what I may have said, has gone away. Feeling almost hyperactive and intense when in a group situation, almost gone. Road rage... work in progress! Hahaha. Sex drive has diminished but this might be a good thing as was obsessive about it before. Less pressure. Wish I had started a lot earlier. Thought my anxiety was part of my personality, but the reality is, without it, I'm back to me again."

Sertraline for Depression "I just started Zoloft 3 days ago, and the side effects so far have been very clear. For me, I haven't been able to eat. I've never been a good eater, but I don't need to lose weight, and I am eating maybe half of what I used to just a few days ago. Nothing seems to taste very good, and I feel full after very little food. I get nausea for about 10-15 minutes about 4-5 times a day, that I didn't have before. My head feels really weird, like I can feel the chemicals running through my brain. It's really weird. I had problems sleeping before taking Zoloft, so not sure if that is a side effect. A lot of good reviews - going to stick it out."

For Anxiety and Stress "Normally, I would never write a review on a drug, but I've had such a positive experience with sertraline that I really want to help others with my experience. I've always suffered with severe anxiety & low mood, particularly in winter. I had a rough time with my PhD not going to plan several months ago & started to feel worse and worse, feeling anxious and panicky all the time. After CBT failed to work, I finally agreed to try sertraline. I was terrified of taking drugs, terrified of side effects and feeling worse. Started on 50mg, had a little nausea and anxiety but not too bad. After 3 weeks my doctor upped me to 100mg. 3 months later & my anxiety has almost entirely gone & my mood is always good! I'm so happy I gave this drug a chance!"

For Depression "I am so thankful for these reviews, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have persevered as long as I did on Sertraline. I was in deep despair and anxiety following a few traumatic life events. In a bad way. Put on 50mg and first week or so got an amazing effect but that stopped. Up and down over the next 4 weeks, then up to 100. On that for 8 weeks and again happy a few days, low a few days. Felt it maybe wasn’t working, which I was distraught about, but these reviews really helped. So many times I thought about giving up, but many reviews said to persevere. Side effects of nausea/increased anxiety can be horrible but isn’t 24/7. Propranolol 10mg and diazepam 2mg helped. Up to 150mg and again happy days bad days. Nearly gave up again. Now been on 150mg over 8 weeks and eureka! Happy, calm, positive, sociable, fun. So if this sounds like you, please please persevere! Get help and support through it and ignore when people say takes 4-6 weeks. That’s taken me nearly 6 months, but wow it’s worth it!"

Sertraline for Panic Disorder "Never written a review in my life. Was often on these sites reading people's experiences and hoping 1 day I would be me again. I'm not me, I'm happier than I can remember. When you're used to living with anxiety daily, you don't realize how it actually feels to be 'normal'. Suffered panic attacks at night that came from absolutely nowhere, no warnings or triggers and gradually affected my day-to-day life. Started 50mg, first 2 weeks side effects were pretty harsh: insomnia, increased anxiety, nausea. Was having second thoughts at 4 weeks as didn't see much improvement. Week 5 felt like a switch was turned on in my head. Give this drug 6-8 weeks minimum. It has been life-changing for me."

For Depression "I have been on sertraline for about 4 months. I had horrific side effects for 2 days including more severe depression, intrusive thoughts, nausea, diarrhea. I persevered after reading reviews on this site. I didn’t feel any different for maybe 2 months, but now I feel amazing! I feel the best I ever have and I only had mild depression. I walk around with a smile on my face, no longer feel anxious in social situations and nothing seems insurmountable (and I went through recovery from surgery, a breakup and living with my ex through COVID lockdown on this medication). It’s a game changer for me! I’m on 50mg/day. Give it time to work because it’s worth going through the horrific side effects to feel like I do. Just make sure you chose a good time to start (i.e. not a busy time at work or similar) because you may have to take a few days off work. Make sure you have support."

For Depression "I had a mixture of bad depression and anxiety. It was getting to the point where I was never sleeping and skipping work. My doctor prescribed a temporary prescription of sleeping pills (promethazine) and a longer term of sertraline. I was taking 25 mg of sertraline for about 2-3 weeks and a low dosage of a sleeping pill. After about a week or so of grogginess and nausea, my sleep started to get better, and I also found my mood improving. After about 3 months, I was not taking the sleeping medication anymore and had increased to 50mg a day of sertraline. I have stayed on 50mg ever since. This relatively low dose (for a 220 lb, 6 ft 5 in man) has changed my life. I am a different person. For me, it's been a game-changer, and I really hope reading this gives others the confidence to give sertraline a serious go."

For Depression "Sertraline has changed my life for the better. It was a living nightmare getting through the first 8 weeks of side effects. I almost gave up several times, they were so bad. I experienced explosive diarrhea, constipation, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, overeating, extreme tiredness, insomnia, loss of sex drive, inability to orgasm, loss of all emotion, and severe anxiety. I had to take time off work to deal with the physical and emotional side effects of this drug. I also had to have someone come and stay with me. Despite the terrible side effects, it has made me feel like myself for the first time in 10 years. Thanks to this drug, the negative thoughts in my head are locked away in a dungeon somewhere, and crying no longer rules my life. I feel happy, strong, confident, motivated, and finally at peace with myself. I know this drug is not for everyone, but it works for me, and if I can encourage anyone to just buckle down through the side effects...you'll make it to the other side."

Sertraline for Depression "If you are scrolling through 1000's of reviews like I was, this one is for you. I started Zoloft three weeks ago for Major Depression and overwhelming anxiety and panic attacks. I started at 25mg for a week, then up to 50mg. Initially, I felt a million times worse, constant panic attacks, increase in suicidal intrusive thoughts, deep depression. But, after just 1 week at 50mg, I noticed a difference in mood, and it's been better and better since. Fight through the initial worsening of symptoms if you can! I asked for Xanax to help me get through it. It definitely gets worse before it gets better for some people, but it was 100% worth it for me! I also had slight nausea, a sore neck, and some dizziness that all seem to be subsiding."

Sertraline for Social Anxiety Disorder "Generalized Anxiety Disorder: 24-year-old, never suffered with anxiety, panic attacks, or disturbing intrusive thoughts before - I was terrified, didn’t understand what was going on. I initially took time off work, CBT, counseling, meditation, reiki, and Propranolol to help myself at first. Nothing took it away, so I made the decision to go onto Zoloft. The first 2 weeks, you HAVE to push through the side effects. I was constantly nauseous and at times I would vomit. But now, I’m completely back to my old self! Zoloft has really restored my mental health to the point where I am free of anxiety completely! I’ve also always had terrible PMT since I was a teenager, I have noticed that Zoloft has sorted this out for me too! When that time of the month is approaching usually, I become extremely angry and often cry about irrational things. Since being on Zoloft, I have noticed I am much calmer and happier around my cycle. It’s been like a wonder drug for me!"

For Anxiety and Stress "I took Sertraline last year for anxiety with an element of PTSD due to the suicide of a family member. As seems common on here, the first few weeks were really tough. I had the common side effects of nausea, increased anxiety, twitchy jaw, etc. After about 4 weeks, that began to settle, and around 5-6 weeks, the full effect kicked in, and it was amazing. I said to my wife that my mind became a very pleasant place to be. I was able to just lie on the sofa with a smile on my face and just feel happy to be there. I felt more like myself than I had in years. More happy, more settled, and not at all emotionally deadened. If you are thinking of trying them, I would wholly recommend you do, I wish I had sooner. The first few weeks might be tough, but once you start on them, then help is on the way. When the full effect arrives, it will be worth every bad day a thousand times over. Don't give in to despair, you can do it."

Sertraline for Depression "This drug changed my life. I feel better than I ever could have imagined after starting Zoloft. I had suffered with depression, unmedicated, since childhood. Finally, I got a doctor who would give me the antidepressants I needed. I was started on 25 mg for the first week, then 50 mg. I've been on 50 for 5 months now and so far so good. I've noticed drastic changes in my mood and my stress levels. Things that would've sent me into a panic attack before now only get me mildly stressed. I don't have random crying fits anymore. I'm not angry. The main side effect I had upon starting was no appetite. I felt nauseated every time I ate and had no desire to eat either, other than just to stop feeling hungry. That lasted about a month. Other than that, I haven't experienced any negative side effects."

For Anxiety and Stress "I've suffered from anxiety and probably depression for most of my adult life. I have started on meds just a couple of times, but usually stopped taking them after a few weeks because all they did was make me tired and zombie-like. Sertraline has been a completely different experience. The first week I felt nauseated every day, but found I slept better than I had for years with no groggy after-effect. Within a couple of weeks I went from a person who felt overwhelmed by nearly any household task to a person who was hoovering, polishing, cooking and cleaning and enjoying every minute of it. I have more energy, I have had no negative thoughts in the six weeks I've been taking them. At 54 years old, I feel completely sane and balanced for the first time in my life."

Sertraline for Depression "20-year-old female, prescribed 50 mg for major depressive disorder, social anxiety, and just overall generalized anxiety. Been on 50 mg for 3 months now. Side effects were minor, which consisted of insomnia, loss of appetite, and nausea, though they subsided within the first few weeks and I now experience none. I love Zoloft! I can live again! I'm laughing and going out with friends, not laying in bed all day. I can finally breathe, my surroundings seem so much brighter, I don't harbor hate anymore, I'm me again. More ambitious and creative like I was before I fell into this self-destructive path of depression two years ago. I no longer have the desire to self-medicate with drugs and alcohol. I wish I got on Zoloft a long time ago."

Sertraline for Panic Disorder "If you're reading the reviews and thinking how scary Zoloft sounds, or thinking maybe you shouldn’t take it, then you are like I was 6 weeks ago. THIS MEDICINE HAS CHANGED MY LIFE ALREADY. I’m on 50mg and may increase to 75 due to some nervous thoughts and occasional sensations of panic, but it is nothing like it used to be. Before Zoloft, I wasn’t able to leave my house. I was having severe panic attacks multiple times a day. This medicine started working for me at 25mg 2 weeks after starting it. The doctor increased it to 50mg and this week I’ve noticed a huge difference. The only side effect I had was nausea and upset stomach at first, and then again when I increased to 50mg 2 weeks ago. Other than that, I just feel better. Please give this medicine a try if you want a shot at a somewhat normal life. You owe it to yourself to put the fear aside and try to get better. Do this for you. I did, and I was terrified to try it, but I’m so, so happy I did."

For Anxiety and Stress "I recently suffered crippling panic attacks and anxiety to the point where I couldn’t leave the house. After months of going into a downward spiral, I asked my doctor to put me on sertraline. I knew to expect some side effects, and oh my goodness, nothing could have prepared me for the first two weeks on this medication. I experienced every single side effect: nausea, low appetite, insomnia (still have that now!), tingling, worse anxiety, sweating profusely, trembling/shaking, and peeing all the time. I felt awful, at one point, I wanted to stop, but reading the reviews on here kept me going. I’m so glad I stuck it out, and now I am 6 weeks in, and most of the side effects have gone (only insomnia remains, and it’s mild!), and I feel back to my old self on 50mg. I am so relaxed and happy every day, and what used to worry me doesn’t anymore. I would say to anyone suffering through the first two horrendous weeks to stick it out, IT DOES GET BETTER!"

For Anxiety and Stress "I have had major anxiety for about 3 years now and I was hesitant about medication and went to therapy. I decided to try it because I was feeling way too overwhelmed. First, I tried half of the dosage which is about 15mg. I took it at night because some of the side effects were dizziness or nausea. I woke up the next morning and felt good. High energy and joyful. I began to feel some side effects like low appetite and mild headache 1 or 2 times. It really just helped to lower the physical symptoms of anxiety. I changed my dosage to the full pill now of 25mg. It definitely helps me throughout the days. I take it in the morning now, the side effects for me are very little to none. I might get a headache here and there. But I feel like I get the most “out of it” taking it in the morning. I have been on it for about 3 or 4 months now. I just wanted to come on here because there are so many bad reviews and they had me scared. But you’ll never know until you try it for yourself."

Sertraline for Depression "I’m onto my second box of Zoloft. I took the entire first box over a month at 25mg. I had headaches pretty much every day but they weren’t extreme, just a dull ache. There were also a couple of times where I was feeling nauseous, the pharmacist told me to eat before taking the pill, and that actually helped. So after the first month, I reached my prescribed dose of 50mg daily. No headaches at all now, and no negative side effects at all. My mood is so much better, I actually catch myself laughing at things online or on TV. I am so much more calm and patient with my kids. My husband and I were having huge verbal arguments every couple of days, which I now am capable of refusing to do despite his pushing. I can repeatedly say, 'I’m not going to argue with you,' and stay calm for a long time now, which is obviously new to my husband who is so used to getting a big reaction from me. I honestly feel absolutely fantastic with this medication. Going to ask my doctor about upping my dose for better results!"

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "For me, a life saver! Yes, I had the night sweats, the vivid dreams, the urine frequency, the dizziness and nausea for the first few months. But here's the rub, I would do it a thousand times over for how well I feel now. I started taking 50mg sertraline for crushing anxiety in December 2019. I am a 37-year-old female and my confidence and my judgment in my work was rock bottom. I overanalyzed and panicked about everything for over a decade. But I hid it very well at work! I would've tried anything to not feel so exhausted and ground down by incessant worrying. My body took about two months to get used to the drug. But things, me, my mind, started to feel calmer and I felt more in control as the months progressed. Now, I feel together, content, and at peace I have not felt since I was a child! In truth? I wish I had started taking this medication years ago. Anxiety robbed me of my sense of peace and sense of self. Will I come off it? Within the year hopefully, but if needs be, I will stay on it!"

For Anxiety and Stress "This drug has made me feel normal again. What's better is because I was suffering from anxiety, which I never thought would get better, I'm now even in a better mood than a normal person. I had an unpleasant onset of this drug, which made me feel very sick and strange for the first two to three weeks, and after the third week, I noticed that this drug has improved me. If you have anxiety, this is the perfect medicine for you. It actually makes you feel normal again and slightly better than normal. I am still feeling everyday getting better, probably due to the fact that my brain is realizing I'm starting to feel good again and that my anxiety is also gone."

Sertraline for Anxiety and Stress "Unlike a lot of people on here, I was lucky enough to avoid having really any anxiety at all up until about 5 months ago when I suddenly started suffering from the worst health anxiety you can imagine. Every single day for 3-4 months was miserable, all I did was think about my health and check my heart rate and Google my symptoms nonstop. I started Zoloft at the start of April, and let me tell you the first few weeks were hell. Headaches, nausea, increased anxiety, you name it. I read these reviews every single day, only focusing on the ones with positive reviews, and just reading everyone say it eventually gets better was what kept me taking the medicine, or else I would have stopped, but I’m so glad I didn’t. I’m now on about week 7, and I feel better than I have in the last 6 months, most days, my anxiety doesn’t even cross my mind now (and I’m on a very low dose of 50mg). You got this!"

For Anxiety and Stress "Anxiety has plagued me since childhood. I had been to the emergency room and various doctors with different illnesses but the underlying cause was always stress. It affected my whole life, how I performed at school and work, relationships, and self-esteem. I finally hit rock bottom 3 months ago and went to my doctor for help. I am not sure what would have happened to me if I hadn't been prescribed sertraline. My previous experience of antidepressants wasn't good but only because I couldn't handle the side effects. This time I made the decision to stick it out. The first 6 weeks were tough at times, I had headaches, felt dizzy, and nauseous but it was worth it. I am only taking 25mg as I know it's all I need. I actually don't recognize myself and the things I can do now that the anxiety has gone. I am calm, relaxed, and don't overthink things, it has truly changed my life. I feel like I have to pinch myself constantly because things are going so well."

For Anxiety and Stress "The last three weeks are a blur. I was constantly reading reviews on here with tears streaming down my face, wondering if I’d ever get better. The only other option for me wasn’t a good one. I started on 50 mg and locked myself away in a dark house for two weeks. My anxiety was like nothing I’d ever felt before: sweating, huge pupils, nausea, crying, and just totally defeated. Onto week three and the side effects have started to lift. No more night sweats or anxiety. I would totally recommend a benzo to get you through the first two weeks to take with sertraline. I took it in the morning if I had to leave the house. I am well on my way to feeling better, not there just yet, but thank you to everyone who took the time to write a review. They helped me get through my darkest days. Be brave, guys, and stick with it, it does get better ❤️‍"

Sertraline for Depression "I started using Zoloft on Wednesday the 5th of December 2012. Today's date is the 8th of December 2012. Four days, it has only taken four days for me to feel like a new person. I have been on it before, therefore I know what side effects to expect. Everybody is different, but I suffered from loss of appetite, headaches, nausea, feeling a bit dizzy, lower back pain, and trembling hands. This only lasts for a week or two. I used to cry for no reason (even at work), snap at my partner for stupid things, I was paranoid over everything, socially scared (I always wanted to stay home). I haven't cried since being on Zoloft, nor snapped at my partner. I am a new person now. I'm so happy and look forward to my new life. 100/100."
