Sertraline for Social Anxiety Disorder "Don’t give up! It took 8 weeks for it to work for me! I was on Paxil since I was 18 (I’m now 43), but the older I got, the worse weight gain got, so I switched to Zoloft. I had morning anxiety and loss of appetite for the first 7 weeks. By week 8, I noticed it was going away. I’m on week 10, and I’m feeling myself again. I take 200 mg."

For Depression "I scrolled here when I was at my worst and need to share that this tablet changed my life! The first two weeks (50 mg) were hell - sickness, no appetite, suicidal thoughts, and panic attacks I’d never had before. If you are here now, I urge you to keep going! After 6 weeks and an increase to 100 mg, I couldn’t believe that I ever told the people I love that I didn’t want to be alive. 5 months on, I have a new job, a great boyfriend, my social life is back, and I have the energy and motivation to enjoy every minute! CBT has helped me recognize negative thoughts before they spiral, and I’m more myself than ever! Of course, there are down days, but I’m only human, right?! Have patience with your journey, I’m so grateful for mine. P.S. the best thing I ever took from these reviews - don’t let a tablet be more than it is. I also take one a day to stop me from getting pregnant and one to give me strong hair and nails (why not?) - and none of them are a defining feature of my life."

Sertraline for Depression "Zoloft was the first antidepressant I tried, and it worked well enough that I stuck with it. The first 2-3 weeks were difficult. I found myself yawning constantly, extremely drowsy, having no appetite, nauseous when I did eat, thinking about doom and death. But those were side effects that all eventually subsided. I feel a lot better because I have more control over my emotions and anxiety. I cry much less now and don't lie in bed at night thinking about suicide as much anymore. I went down in dosage from 75 mg because I felt a little too muted, like things that were really supposed to bother me didn't, and the nausea on 75 mg really sucked. I was finding myself vomiting for no reason. 50 mg has been good to me the last 6 months."

For Anxiety and Stress "I had been struggling with anxiety caused by basically overthinking things at work and not been really able to manage it. After discussing with my doctor, I started on sertraline at 25 mg and slowly ramped up to 50 mg. Started CBT. The first few weeks were awful. Not sleeping at all and moments of intense happiness. This moved into having terrible anxiety, horrific gastrointestinal issues, poor appetite, and then seriously low mood because of all of the latter. This lasted for about 2-3 months with some increases in dose in between. Slowly, the anxiety started to ease with moments of calmness moving into generally feeling better in the evenings but with morning anxiety. Then on to longer periods of calmness for maybe a few days at a time and then just having a few bad days. Finally, after about 3 months, everything clicked into place. Sleep started to get better, mood was better than it ever has been. No more overwhelming thoughts or catastrophizing. I was able to think calmly and rationally."

Sertraline for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I've suffered from OCD for about three years. It was pretty bad but still manageable, but then, two months ago, it became unbearably horrible, my life was a nightmare. I would spend almost every waking hour ruminating about my obsessions while feeling intense anxiety. Then I began taking Zoloft. I was started on 25 mg, and I noticed some improvement within 5 days, and there was massive improvement within 9 days. I've been on it for a month now, and I'm at 100 mg. The OCD is definitely still here, but it takes up much less time, and I am able to ruminate without feeling intense anxiety. I didn't have any major side effects. At the beginning, I was yawning a lot, and I felt more irritable. There's also a lack of appetite, and I've lost 4 pounds."

Sertraline for Social Anxiety Disorder "I told myself I would post on here after I felt Zoloft had helped me. I'm a 28-year-old female who has never been on medications before or treated for anxiety. Currently, I’m an RN who works in a high-stress area. This summer, I experienced severe anxiety (21/21 on the GAD scale) and was very distraught by it. My GP started me on Zoloft in conjunction with therapy. I started at 25 mg for a week and increased by 25 mg until my dose is now at 100 mg. The Zoloft onboarding for me was HARD. Increased anxiety the first couple of weeks, loss of appetite, insomnia, diarrhea, loss of libido. I think if I would have known beforehand and received better education on Zoloft, it would have been less distressing. BUT I’m here to tell you I’m over 3 months on Zoloft and feel 90% better. I also supplement with CBD gummies when I feel stressed or hydroxizine and propranolol when required when I feel even more anxious. Also, exercising, meditation, and decreasing my caffeine and alcohol intake has helped. My GAD score is now 6."

Sertraline for Postpartum Depression "First off, don’t stop taking Zoloft. I learned it the hard way. I suffered from postpartum depression (PPD) severely after I had my son in 2009. I was hospitalized for 2-3 weeks. Zoloft did give me side effects the first couple of weeks, like headaches, insomnia, loss of appetite, anxiety, panic, and diarrhea. It felt like I was a zombie the first 3 weeks. My PPD gradually subsided the 3rd week. I weaned off of it when my son was 3. Fast forward 2 years later, I went through a rough patch and needed to be on Zoloft again. Then again, I tapered off of it after 2 years. Then I had another child 10 years after 2009, and my PPD came back, so I’m on it again. So far, I’m trying to pull through this tough time again. Zoloft has helped me plenty of times, and I hope this will help someone that is going through PPD."

Sertraline for Depression "I have been taking Zoloft for 3 months, 50 mg, and I feel no different. Now I'm taking 100 mg for anxiety and mild depression, and I do feel better. It has reduced my appetite, but I do have rapid heartbeat. If it keeps up, I will talk to the doctor. Everyone I have met taking Zoloft has lost weight."

For Anxiety and Stress "I started this medication on 25 mg after suffering anxiety and panic, and at first, the side effects were not great. I had worse anxiety, headaches, was very tired, and had no appetite for the first 5 days, then that all started to ease off. I went up to 50 mg after a week, and I continued to have side effects for a couple more weeks, but not nearly as bad. I’m on my 5th week now on the same dose, and I’m feeling great. My anxiety has almost gone completely, I have no side effects anymore, and I feel like the old me again. I know I have a long way to go until I recover completely, but I’m no longer worrying about stuff, which is great. I hope you get on with this medication and wish you well."

For Anxiety and Stress "I was suffering anxiety, panic attacks, was super stressed, and had a light depression. Three weeks ago, I started on Sertraline 25 mg and instantly felt better. No anxiety, I felt happy for the first time in a long time, and I had energy and the desire to actually go out and do things. I was blown away by the effect it had on me! I had a few side effects, such as nausea, no appetite, headache, tinnitus, a pulsing sound in my ears, muscle twitching, and sometimes just felt weird. But I still felt so much better. However, after a week on 25 mg, I increased the dose to 50 mg. The day after, I felt depressed and very anxious, and more tired than before. It was devastating after a week of feeling great. The side effects got less with time, and on day 15 on 50 mg, I woke up and felt happy! No anxiety, just happiness and calmness! I'm now on day 18 with 50 mg and still feel great. The only side effect that's left is the muscle twitching, and for me, that's a small price to pay for feeling happy and calm again!"

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "Best medicine ever for CD, panic attacks, anxiety, depression, it has been a real lifesaver. I have been on this medicine, sertraline, for 11 days and feeling great. The first 4 days were rough due to lack of appetite and lack of sleep, which comes with negative thoughts in the middle of the night. No panic attacks either. Negative thoughts and my anxiety decreased by 80%. I'm still a little depressed, but it's because of the fatigue side effect, but otherwise, it's perfect. Never give up. Life is great, we don't deserve to be sad. P.S.: I started 100 mg, but due to the fatigue, I'm taking 50 mg now at night before sleep."

For Depression "Have been on sertraline for 8 days now... probably have every side effect, from shakes to nausea, to memory loss, to feeling like I'm in a weak drug-induced bubble. Felt very sad for the first 5 days, and now side effects are gradually decreasing. I still have shakes a little and loss of appetite, but will stick it out as lots claim to have all these at first... fingers crossed. I'm from the UK."

For Anxiety and Stress "After lifelong anxiety all bloomed out of control, and 2 years ago I finally cracked with panic disorder blooming. My doctor prescribed me propranolol and diazepam, which, wow, really helped in the short term. A new doctor prescribed me sertraline 50 mg. I’m now on my third day, luckily I’m not working till Feb. It feels very strange, almost like coming on a recreational drug. Rushes of loved-up feeling, clenched teeth, stiff jaw, and no appetite. I get the urge to have sex, and we did, and wow, it was great and erection better than ever! But, and it’s a big but, I could not orgasm! So that’s thrown a spanner in the works as I can’t have that looming over me :(. I don’t orgasm easily anyway, but this was after a week or more without any, so really unsure what to do. Other than that, I feel pretty calm about most racing thoughts and overthinking. I feel comfy but also quite lethargic. Poor appetite and dry mouth too. Do I carry on and wait to see if sides ease up or trash the idea now? Take care."

For Anxiety and Stress "Zoloft has made a world of positive difference in my life. After about a year in a toxic work environment, my anxiety started yielding at least one strong panic attack per week. It was getting worse--I went from specific situational triggers that I could predict to sudden, out-of-nowhere panic. I started on Zoloft at 25mg and titrated up to 50mg after two weeks. The first two weeks were a little rocky--although I felt great most of the day, I did notice a bit of anxiety coming on right before the next dose. My appetite decreased (not to a scary level), and I was a bit shaky and definitely a little nauseous. After about two to three weeks, I could tell it was working."

For Anxiety and Stress "First day done... I can't sleep, I've almost been up for 24 hours straight. I'm too excited and cheerful and happy. I have been laughing with my husband to the point of tears. Oh man, does it feel so good and so freeing to let loose and be me again. Slight headache, which I always had before, plus I'm dehydrated. Not much of an appetite. But honestly, I feel great. Normally, I would get angry about little things, but today I honestly don't care to use the energy to be upset. I'm so optimistic about this medication."

For Depression "I literally just took the pill for the first time last night, but I was curious what the first day was like, side effect wise, so I am going to share for anyone else curious! It's been about 14 hours, and here is what I noticed: 1. I woke up about 5 times last night. And each time I woke up, it felt like I could just stay up and be fine for the rest of the day, but when I actually woke up to my alarm at a respectful time, I was VERY tired. 2. I have not had the nausea/diarrhea that has been mentioned (yet), but I am experiencing a bit of no appetite. The past 2 weeks, I have been eating like crazy (I'm talking at LEAST 3000 calories a day... I'm a depressive eater), but today I couldn't finish my breakfast, and now I'm just not hungry. 3. I am irritable. One little comment at work, and I'm looking for a new job. This could be totally unrelated, but I feel like it's a little worse than usual. Anyways, it's not even been a full day, so I will probably update again when more things come up."

Sertraline for Panic Disorder "Developed panic disorder in late May as a result of trauma due to an anaphylactic reaction. Wasn't allergy tested soon enough, and so my anxiety around eating got worse and evolved into a panic disorder. Without meds, I felt OK maybe 40% of the time, but had anxiety around eating and globus sensation/panic attacks. I started taking 12.5 mg on Jun 9. Thought I was out of the woods. Had an hour before bed where I fought off panic attacks. The 2nd day has been somewhat lousy. No panic attacks, but definitely some anxiety (granted no globus sensation), sweaty, uncomfortable, confused, nauseous, no appetite, and fatigued. But it's day 2, so we're going to stick to the program. I'll give a timeline of how I responded to Zoloft over time. Day 10: Anxiety WAY down. Still have some panic-attack-like symptoms here and there, but feeling a lot more normal without side effects. Side effects lasted 2 days. Feeling better each day. If you're on the fence about taking it, I'd definitely recommend!"

Sertraline for Depression "I took it for 8 weeks, 53-year-old male. I moved to a new town for a job. It is pretty depressing when you don't know anyone. Zoloft 50 mg. First night, NO sleep. Started taking it at night with Ambien. I sleep for about 5 hours, then I'm up at 3 am. Major side effects: inability to orgasm, clenched teeth, restless legs, trembling, loss of appetite, diarrhea, and sweating. The first week was nausea, trembling, but emotions were better. After 8 weeks, I think the side effects aren't worth the benefit. Quit cold turkey 4 days ago. No major problems. Teeth clench still, but not as bad."

Sertraline for Major Depressive Disorder "This medication saved my life. Before I started Zoloft, my depression and anxiety were out of control. The depression was so bad it physically hurt, and my anxiety kept me from leaving the house except to go to work, and even that was a struggle. I had intrusive thoughts of driving my car into a tree or off a bridge every day. I noticed the benefits from Zoloft within the first couple of weeks. The first thing I noticed was it took the edge off my anxiety. I was still anxious, but it wasn't overwhelming anymore, and the intrusive thoughts started to go away. My depression started to improve about 2 months in. Stick with this medication, take it every day, don't skip doses. It's slow to help, but when it does it makes a huge difference! My only side effect was a mild decrease in appetite for the first week or so."

Sertraline for Panic Disorder "I was experiencing panic attacks, which persisted for 5 days. I have had this disorder my whole life, but it was bad, and I developed depression along with it this time. I was prescribed Zoloft, and after a few days, I feel amazing! The panic has reduced by about 70%, and I feel happier than I have for a while. Instead of wanting to crawl in a hole and shy away from my responsibilities, I feel like I now want to do things, and I no longer feel the need to take Xanax. I feel amazing, and more importantly, I feel like me again. The only side effect I noticed was lack of appetite, and I have to make myself eat. Other than that, no side effects, and hopefully my appetite will return when my body adjusts to the medication. Thank you, Zoloft!"

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "I took sertraline for the first time about 10 years ago. Before it, I was miserable, and it took every ounce of energy to get through a day. My doctor prescribed 25 mg of sertraline, and after adjusting to the medication (several weeks later), my life became all that I ever hoped it would! Fast forward to now, my husband and I were ready to start trying for a family. I went off the medication with the help of my doctor. I lasted about 6 months, and then I was crippled with anxiety again. I went back on 25 mg sertraline, and I am now three weeks into the medication. The side effects have been worse this time around: horrible increase in anxiety, intrusive thoughts, nausea, complete loss of appetite, sleepless nights, crying fits, restlessness, dry mouth, trembling, and shallow breathing. Xanax was prescribed to help me through these times. I'm hoping I'm about to turn a corner. This medicine does work! It just takes time. Hang in there, and keep reading reviews as often as you need! It helps!"

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I have suffered from excessive OCD, due to an event that caused PTSD, for 2-3 years now. I love Sertraline. I started at 25 mg for 7 days, then graduated to 50 mg after 7 days. I had no appetite, which is a common side effect, which resulted in weight loss. After 2 days on the 25 mg, I noticed a huge difference. I have energy, I sleep well, and I am able to focus long enough to complete tasks from start to finish without being distracted. I don't feel anxious, overwhelmed, or on edge like I used to. My only regret is not getting help sooner!"
