For Anxiety and Stress "I started taking this pill over 3 months ago, because something bad has happened in my life. I had very intense panic attacks and shaking, couldn't sleep, constant anxiety. If you are someone who just started to take these pills, brace yourself: the first 5 weeks are gonna be HORRIBLE. But hold on, it starts to get better afterwards if you keep taking them. I started with 50mg, which was soon raised to 100mg. I got almost every single side effect that was listed in the pill's warning: Shaking, worsening panic and depression, fear of death etc. These thankfully gradually faded after the first 2 weeks. The longest lasting side effect was that I kid you not, I couldn't sleep more than 45 minutes a night for almost a whole month! INSOMNIA! Now I have been on these for almost 4 months. The panic attacks are absent, and even on the worst nights, I can easily sleep 4-5 hours. On weekends, I can even sleep in :) A very tough medication, but in the end, it works like magic!"

Sertraline for Major Depressive Disorder "Zoloft saved my life. During my pregnancy, I started experiencing severe anxiety and depression. I was throwing up every single day, missing work, withdrawing from life. I had panic attacks from the time I woke up until the time I went to bed. I dreaded and feared waking up every day and having to be alive again. I felt hopeless, miserable, worthless. It got to the point where I genuinely had urges to hurt myself and thought it would be better if I just died. Cue Zoloft. I started on 50 mg, and within about two weeks noticed small improvements in my energy, but still felt extremely low and incapable. I spent hours on this forum looking for the motivation to keep pushing. Things gradually improved over the weeks, and after about 6 weeks on Zoloft, I woke up one morning and just realized...I felt like me again. I wasn't hopeless. I wasn't depressed. I was able to laugh again. I actually saw my future again. If you're in the same place I was, KEEP GOING! Things will get better!"

Sertraline for Depression "I have been taking Zoloft for several months. I have IBS, which flares up when I'm anxious, and Zoloft really helps with that. It has very few side effects, and I feel more like myself when I'm taking Zoloft. I do have one small complaint: when I miss a few consecutive doses, I tend to get dizzy. But that's it! Other than that, I have no issues with Zoloft. It's very subtle, and it certainly has improved my mood."

Sertraline for Depression "I am a 34-year-old woman who has been living with depression since I was 12. Depression had me feel like I was Atlas (from Greek mythology) with a lifetime of struggle to roll a boulder uphill. Initially, I was against the idea of being on an antidepressant. I finally caved in when a break-up threw me into a tailspin of never-ending crying and sadness. At the doctor's office, he forewarned me that the first 6 weeks are going to be tough and to brave the storm until the medication builds up in my system. I had 3 weeks of side effects that had me feeling more depressed and fatigued. However, I got through it, and my life has changed for the better. Presently, I am more outgoing and actually feel like a 'normal' person again. I am finally truly and sincerely happy and have gained more friends because of that. If you are thinking about trying this medication but are still unsure, take the risk. I can't describe how great it is to finally have your life back."

Sertraline for Depression "This medication has changed my life. I used to feel depressed all the time, no motivation to reach any goals, leaving house was impossible, honestly no desire to live life. After 9 months on it I can say I am happy again. I’m laughing at silly things again, I wake up early and want to go outside and LIVE. I’m exercising all the time, meeting friends. Loving life again. I heard someone saying the other day “the worst thing you can do is depend on medication”. Mate I’ll tell you just once, the worst thing IN THE WORLD is to live depressed. Please give yourself permission to use this as a tool for the time that you need. Living life depressed is the worst possible thing and it steals amazing opportunities you could have in life. Depression changes your personality for the worst. I hope that if you’re still wondering if it’s worth it or not to give this a shot, you go for it. Even if it doesn’t work for you and you keep looking for a better fit. Things do get better❤️"

Sertraline for Social Anxiety Disorder "I feel so obligated to leave a review. I was sitting where you are now almost 4 weeks ago. I was terrified after reading the reviews, however, I knew I needed help. I had postpartum depression and let it go unchecked for a long time. When that seemed to subside, I was hit with debilitating anxiety that really started to rob me of my life. I had severe insomnia as a result. I started on 25 mg for a week, then went up to 50 mg where I am currently at now. It was a very difficult med to get on. I had increased anxiety, panic, still fought insomnia. After about two and a half weeks and help from my family, I felt like the world felt brighter. Every day since has been getting better. I can’t tell you enough that if you can weather the first 2-3 weeks, you will not regret it. I am getting back to my old self and it feels so good. I am so thankful, and feeling so blessed. You got this!"

For Anxiety and Stress "I started on Sertraline just over a month ago for anxiety and panic attacks: 4 days on 25 mg, 20 days on 50 mg, 15 days on 100 mg. Starting on Sertraline has been an extremely hard journey, but I am here to tell all of you who are suffering that it is in fact working and YOU WILL FEEL BETTER! The first 14 days were absolutely horrifying: increased anxiety, horrible panic attacks, extreme sweating, nausea, vomiting, no appetite, depressive thoughts. I had to take Xanax some days to cope with it, but somehow I managed to go to (desk job) work every day. Increasing my dose from 50-100 mg initially made it worse again with the side effects all over, but about 5 days into 100 mg, I finally started to feel some relief, and from there, I have just felt better and better. It still goes up and down from day to day, but on a weekly basis, so much better. I felt absolutely horrible starting Sertraline, but if I could do this, so can you! THERE IS LIGHT AND IT WILL BE SO MUCH BETTER! :)"

Sertraline for Panic Disorder "I read these reviews, body tingling, shaking, concentrating on every breath or I would choke to death, using all of my will to focus on these reviews with tears in my eyes imagining that some of these success stories could happen to me and promised to write one if I could make it out alive. I'm 22 and started having severe panic 2 years ago. Don't worry about the side effects. If your experience was like mine every day, side effects would be a break from the dread and torture I felt every second. Zoloft brought me right back to the person I remember being before the panic. Just try it and give it time. It gradually got better over 3 weeks along with klonopin for attacks in that time. I hope this gives someone the hope and courage to try it."

For Anxiety and Stress "27-year-old from the UK, Carlisle, on 50mg Sertraline. This medication is excellent. I have tried: Prozac (impulsive & diarrhea), Mirtazapine (5-stone weight gain), Citalopram (severe depression resulting in a constant stream of suicidal thoughts, NEVER AGAIN!), Venlafaxine (severe anxiety and nervousness), Amitriptyline (sedation). I have been on this for 2 weeks. When it started working, I felt happy and calm. I didn't wake feeling angry and fed up with life. My memory has improved, and my sleep has improved. I can go outside, which I was unable to do before. I don't comfort eat, I don't ruminate over negative things, I'm interested in my hobbies again, and I am more outspoken and unafraid of confrontation. It is out of this world! Keep trying and don't give up. You will wake up one day out of this waking coma and see the color of reality again, just keep trying different medications. No matter what, keep going! I have been depressed and anxious for years, this has truly saved me from oblivion."

Sertraline for Postpartum Depression "I’ve been dealing with anxiety and intrusive thoughts pretty much my whole life. After my first baby, my anxiety got really bad. The sleepless nights didn’t help and the general stress of it all. I had never taken an antidepressant because I was a very happy person aside from my anxiety. Once I started Zoloft, it took about a month for me to feel the effects. I’m currently on 50 mg of Zoloft and my anxiety is so much better. I wake up so much happier now, and I can focus on being a good mom and being present. I really recommend this to anyone who is dealing with anxiety and obsessive thinking. Just to note, don’t stop taking the medication if your anxiety increases. The first few weeks were really hard. It’s just your mind adjusting to the drug and playing tricks on you. Stick with it. I promise it really helps."

For Anxiety and Stress "Further to my review on 2nd Oct, I've now been on 100 mg for three weeks, after being on 50 mg since the end of August, and I've got to say it's a miracle drug. Anxiety gone, panic attacks gone, much better sleep, clear head, and confidence is back in spades. Ever so small amount of shakes for first minute or two when I wake, but soon goes, and no agitation first thing. It's given me my life back, and I know I've probably got another couple of weeks before this dose fully kicks in. If you've just started, it will be a dark few weeks, but seriously, keep going. You'll be thankful you did."

For Anxiety and Stress "I have been on sertraline since 9 days ago. I had all of a sudden generalized anxiety which progressed to panic attacks without any obvious reason. My doctor has prescribed me sertraline 50 mg once daily and told me that may make me sleepy. In those 9 days, I had the worst nausea and loss of appetite with internal shakes. The first day had nightmares. Elevated anxiety and panic attacks especially in the morning. Almost every day I refer to this site to reassure myself that everything will be okay. I will keep you posted. Please wish me luck."

Sertraline for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "Been going up slowly on Zoloft to help my OCD. I started on 12.5 mg for 2 weeks, 25 mg for 3 weeks, 37.5 mg for 2 weeks, then 50 mg for 3 weeks, now 62.5 mg. Overall, I’m feeling better. Intrusive thoughts related to harm OCD have gone. General anxiety is still there but not constant. When I started this medication for OCD and panic attacks, I was literally having panic attacks every hour due to the OCD. My anxiety was at a 10, now, most days it’s 0-2. Every day I do have some sort of anxious feeling, but for the most part, it’s a fleeting feeling. BEST THING ABOUT THIS MEDICATION... I LOST 20 lbs and continue to not want to eat junk food. I also started working out. Good luck! I wish you the best and hope to continue getting better with time."

Sertraline for Social Anxiety Disorder "I was very anxious and used to overanalyze everything. Now I am confident and do not really care much about what people might think. This medication made me also a lot happier. I've been taking it for about 5 months now, and I've never been as confident and rooted as I am now."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "I am a pharmacy technician and been one for over a year now. I had developed GAD due to my job, and it was then taking over my life and mental health. I started losing weight fast. Second time having an anxiety panic attack at work and got sent home early due to my body going to fight or flight mode. My doctor then quickly prescribed sertraline 25mg. Finally, I read all the reviews, and it gave me so much hope that I wasn’t alone. For the first few days, I had the runs every morning bad, increased anxiety all the time, insomnia in the morning, hot flashes during the night, some jaw clenching for the first two days. By week two, all the side effects lifted. By week three, I didn’t notice too much, but my mood was so much better. I finally started eating happily, playing with my family more, sleeping well, and even working out! I finally feel normal again BUT better. Please know that you are not alone, and keep pushing. I am only taking 25mg, and it really does make a difference!"

Sertraline for Depression "I literally felt something happy the first day. I'm not kidding. I took my first pill at 6:15am... at/around 10:00am, I felt like I couldn't complete a sentence without thinking really hard about it... Then noon came, I got off early from work...I came home and felt fantastic. I felt good. I'm very in tune with my body. I can tell if I'm getting a cold sore days before I get one, and I can tell this/that just by taste in my mouth, or how I smell something. I take other meds, but this one, Zoloft, I actually felt something positive the first day. I believe this is going to be good for me. I used to take Paxil CR, but if I didn't take it absolutely on time, or whatever... I was off for a week (or in jail).. no, I'm not kidding, my depression has taken me places you don't wanna know... My experience today is that I actually feel happier than I have in months... I guess I'm lucky that way! :)"

Sertraline for Depression "I started Zoloft about 2 months ago. I was taking 25 mg to start, as I am very tiny. After about a month, I increased to 50 mg, and the results were felt within days. I'm not hitting my dangerous lows nearly as frequently, and when I do get upset, it feels tolerable. Yes, I still cry; no, I'm not happy all the time, but that's normal! For the first time in over 3 years, I understand what it feels like to be normal. PS-for those of you out there desperately looking for help, but not wanting to disappoint your loved ones who are opposed to taking psychiatric medication, do it for yourself. Here's what might happen: they don't work so you stop taking them, or they work and you never look back. Life is far too short to feel awful throughout it."

For Anxiety and Stress "I promised myself when I was a wreck that I would post when I was myself again. Truth is these forums gave me hope when everything was hopeless and kept me going. I started on Sertraline 50 mg upped to 100 mg for severe anxiety that had been building up for a year. I focused on my anxiety all the time, life was not enjoyable. Word of advice-- if you are on Sertraline for anxiety you will feel worse beyond belief for a start!!! Please stick with it-- I never would have without forums. I felt much better after 6 weeks but has taken 11 to be me again. It is a slow process but the results are amazing. I needed a lot of time off work as I am in a surgical job-- don't feel guilty as I did. We have an illness like any illness. Don't ever lose hope."

Sertraline for Depression "First of all, I wanted to write this several years ago but somehow never got around to it. Zoloft has changed my life. I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety my whole life. In 2011 I finally started Zoloft. The first night I started my 25mg dose. The next morning I woke up and felt completely different. It was like a euphoric feeling. My body didn’t ache. I had more energy... fast forward 7 years. I still am using Zoloft and it has made me a better wife, more patient parent and overall less anxious and depressed."

Sertraline for Depression "I went to the doctor for anxiety and was prescribed Lexapro, which has worked in the past for me, but for some reason it didn’t work this time. The doctor had me stop Lexapro immediately and start 25 mg of Zoloft. I started on 25 mg and increased over the next 4 weeks to 150 mg. Let me just say the next few weeks were horrible, and reading these reviews encouraged me and made me want to push through. I skipped over all the bad reviews to stay focused. I took Xanax at night just to help sleep but just powered through the day with nothing. I had lost 27 pounds in 5 weeks. I was beginning to think it wasn’t going to work. On the 5th week, I got up and couldn’t walk. Let me just say I felt a big difference going into the 6th week. The medicine finally kicked in. God heals by miracles and by medicine."

Sertraline for Depression "I'm 19 and Zoloft has been a LIFESAVER for me! I've had very bad generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, and mild depression. I recently had been on Xanax then Klonopin as needed, but I felt as if those types of medications wouldn't help me in the long run. I've been on 25 mg of Zoloft for a month and a half, and I feel WONDERFUL! The horrible, disabling anxiety I once had is almost nonexistent, and my depression melted away! My mood is stabilized, I have a lot of energy, focusing on school work is a synch, and I interact with others with confidence. Yes, I feel like a totally renewed, cleansed person with a constant sense of motivation! Zoloft saved my life! Little to no side effects either. Very mild antidepressant."

Sertraline for Depression "Teenage son was on Lexapro, then Zoloft. Gradual transition of 10mg Lexapro + 50 mg Zoloft for 2 weeks, then 3rd 50mg of Zoloft. Next 3 weeks were totally insane with side effects. Week 3, Zoloft increased to 100 mg with 50 mg of Seroquel for sleeping. We wondered if Zoloft was making everything worse, but we hung in there. So glad we did! By week 4, it seemed like everything reached an equilibrium point. It was like - my gosh, what is happening... the depression, anxiety, compulsive behavior went from a 10 to a 3. He was able to control & process thoughts, listen to advice, pause more to think things through before his responses, in general very talkative about everything. Something totally wonderful happened in the 4th week and continues to this day. He is now receptive to knowing the Zoloft medication has pulled him through a very dark place and is now voluntarily open to continuing therapy. For us, the Zoloft medication is working. Yes, it did take time & a lot of patience to see the results."

For Anxiety and Stress "I promised myself I would comment once I was feeling better because reading these comments gave me reassurance when I was starting Zoloft. I started having uncontrollable panic attacks and anxiety after a mild electric shock at work. For me personally, I had no positive effects for about 4 weeks. Then I was really up and down for the next 2 weeks, where 1 day my anxiety would lower for periods, and the next 2 days it would be back up. After around week 6, I started having longer periods of much lower anxiety, but still, anxiety would come on here and there. Now, 8 weeks in, anxiety is a lot less. I still feel it from time to time, but definitely feeling better. Hope this helps someone who is reading all the comments about people feeling better after just a few weeks and thinking it's taking too long, so Zoloft won't work. It does, just some of us take a little longer to feel the effects. Hang in there, good times are coming."

Sertraline for Panic Disorder "I have been taking Zoloft for a month now, and holy cow, it is a miracle drug for me and my panic disorder. I was diagnosed with Anxiety/Panic disorder and Moderate Major Depression, so far it has worked! I started out on 25 mg for a week, and after that week went to 50 mg. (I'm small, female). I did have a few side effects the first week (feeling 'out of it', night sweats, and just generally feeling the medication), but after that week, my mood has improved. I laugh more and feel like my old self, less anxious, and I haven't had a panic attack. I will probably be on Zoloft for the rest of my life, and I'm okay with that because I love how I feel on this medication. I've never taken any other medication, but this one has helped me get back into hobbies that I was too depressed to enjoy and be able to perform tasks that used to make me anxious, even simple tasks."

For Anxiety and Stress "2017, I just started a new job after a year of unemployment. I began to feel anxious at work, and a few months into my new job, I had a severe breakdown. I went to my GP who explained everything to me in detail. She prescribed me anti-sickness tablets for my sick feeling, which did WONDERS immediately, but she also said that I need to give Sertraline a chance to work. Fast forward to 2019, and I wanted to write this review to anyone who was in my shoes in 2017, searching the net for the magic cure, anxious about the future, and feeling trapped and like they will never get better! THERE IS HOPE!! Give the medicine a chance to work, Sertraline saved my life!! I am still taking it at 125mg and now looking to lower the dose because I feel so much better, I feel comfortable. I am able to get on the tube like I used to (without anxiety), I can sit in meetings, and I can even present to a crowd now! I got a promotion at the start of this year and loving life."
