For Type 2 Diabetes "I started taking Ozempic 2 and a half months ago, starting at .25 dose and worked up to 1 mg dose. I had diarrhea on and off for the first 2 weeks. My blood sugar went up to over 200 every day and to 300 a few times. I have never had blood sugars reach 300 before, and fasting readings in the 200s were non-existent. I had significant dehydration after the 2nd week with vomiting and dizziness. My doctor prescribed insulin to bring down my sugar and said I wouldn't see glucose control until I was on the full dose of Ozempic. I've been on the full dose for a few weeks, and my blood sugar is still out of control, even with insulin and Metformin. Ozempic doesn't work for me, and the past few months have been a huge setback in my diabetes management. My A1C prior to starting Ozempic was 7.3. I have been working with a dietitian for years and follow a low carb diet. I exercise every day. I hope when I get off Ozempic my blood sugar stabilizes, and I haven't damaged my system."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "This was prescribed by a weight loss nurse, second time use. First time on .25 mg was okay, but as soon as I go up to .5 mg I am so sick. Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, sulfur burps, it's horrendous!! I do not having tried twice now, with the same effects each time I can say 100% do not try this for weight loss. It is not worth it. It takes 5 weeks to clear the body too!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "Within 2 weeks after moving from the starter dose of Ozempic to 0.25 to 0.5, I began having vomiting in the wee hours of the morning, with increasing intensity, nearly every night for the last 2+ weeks. The last 4-5 have been really rough. I also take metformin 500 and glimepiride 2, both AM and PM. This weekend, I went down to the Ozempic 0.25 dose, but Sunday and Monday nights were both awful bouts of vomiting. (No diarrhea at any stage with Ozempic; occasional nausea during the day, very decreased appetite.) Is anyone else having this bad and persistent vomiting? Thanks and good luck."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was on 3 mg for 3 months, tolerated great. Once I went to 7 mg, I thought I’m going crazy. Vomiting, constant brain fog, lightheaded, increased anxiety, food went through me, and my stools were like water... Horrible. I’m getting off of this medicine."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started taking Ozempic 3 months ago. I found that after I take my injection on Wednesday night, I get nausea before the day is over and vomit. It feels like my food gets stuck and won’t move. I get sick at least once a week, then I’m better. My appetite has decreased. I also notice I can’t overeat, or I get sick. I have told my doctor, he thinks it will get better. I know one thing for sure: you can’t cheat with fried food, or you will be sick for sure. I’m going to try one more month."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I took my first dose of Ozempic on May 23rd. Two days later, side effects began. My stomach started burning, frequent diarrhea, and profuse vomiting. I cannot hold anything on my stomach, and I have lost over 13 lb in 3 days. The side effects are horrible. I have contacted my doctor with hopes to get relief from the side effects! The pain is horrible. I do not recommend Ozempic!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I wish I did more research before starting this. I started on Saxenda and worked up to 3.0 mg, the max dose. I had a few bouts of severe diarrhea and vomiting. I lost a total of 15 pounds and then started getting ravenous. Then I got switched to Wegovy 2.0 mg and then moved up to 2.4 mg. I only had a couple of incidents of terrible nausea, usually when I ate greasy, heavy, or fried foods. But generally, I feel like crap every day. Once on the Wegovy, the weight literally fell off. Mostly because I just didn't think about eating anything, or my appetite would be satisfied with a very small portion of food. The biggest side effect is skin irritation; like a constant sunburn. Clothes touching my skin bother me. Or riding in a car and bouncing. It became intolerable. And chills make my skin ache. I easily surpassed my goal weight and now trying to decide if I want to quit it altogether or reduce the dosage and hope the skin irritation goes away."

For Type 2 Diabetes "This drug should be taken off the market. Side effects are severe. Belching, uncontrollable diarrhea, dehydration, nausea, vomiting. Be prepared to not leave your bathroom for 3 days every week. Not to mention, the ads are by far the most annoying on TV."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Doc put my daughter on this to see if it would help lose some weight she had with the PCOS. Good news: she lost 9 pounds the first week. Bad news: it was because she vomited multiple times a day and was miserably ill for the next week. We stopped the Ozempic per her doctor, but now she seems to be having gastroparesis; much belching and still vomiting in the morning 2 weeks after stopping. Absolutely not worth it."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have lost 37 lbs in 3.5 months, but should be more due to the horrific side effects. Burping, belching, vomiting, diarrhea, chest pain, nausea, blurry vision, basically every side effect imaginable. I never had side effects from any medications before. I continued to increase the dose up to 1.7 mg and hope for the best with no success. I have three more weeks of misery, but due to the cost of $586, I refuse to trash this medication."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "Been taking it for 4 doses. First dose was in my arm. Felt horrible, violent vomiting for 45 minutes. The first week was bad but not unmanageable. I stayed away from certain foods, and that helped. The next week moved injection location to leg, no problem since. Moral of the story, pick your shot location and eat right."

For Type 2 Diabetes "At first, I had a brief overwhelming bout of nausea that passed. Decreased appetite definitely had me losing weight, but after the second injection, the nausea got much worse! Plus, I had diarrhea/vomiting, and it just got worse daily. I had to discontinue. Now it's been a month later, and I'm still having nausea and diarrhea. Horrible experience for me."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "From the initial starting dose until I went up to 1 mg, the whole 6 months was a roller coaster of nausea, headaches, and uncontrollable vomiting. The nausea was always followed by throwing up 5-7 times per day. If I ate or drank anything with too much sugar (including fresh orange juice), then I would throw it up within 30 mins. The sulfate mouth smell, along with the vomiting, was difficult and embarrassing. Exhausted and tired feeling, along with feeling depressed and hating/disgusted by food, is how I felt. I did lose about 8 kgs before moving on to Saxenda. Get ready for Ozempic to destroy your life for a few months if you want to lose weight with it."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Took my injection .25 mg Friday afternoon and had a very hard time eating dinner. By noon Saturday, I was violently ill with diarrhea, vomiting, and a fever. The symptoms subsided by Sunday, and I was left very achy and fatigued. On the upside, I guess I did go from 335 lbs to 318 lbs over the course of the weekend. This medication is not for the faint of heart. It is very depressing to see a full-course meal in front of you and only be able to eat a few bites. If you are serious about losing weight, this medication will get you there, but I wonder if it’ll work or if the side effects will at least subside with longer-term use. The nausea is horrible, but you do also have some beautiful dreams while taking it."

For Type 2 Diabetes "So I began Ozempic just a few months ago. Just took my first 1 mg dose last week, and I have to say, I am sick all the time. Anything I eat is for sure going to end up in the toilet one way or another. The diarrhea is out of control and constant. When I was only on the 0.25 mg dose, I had a window of the day where I was actually able to eat and not vomit it up later, but since going all the way up to the 1 unit, I cannot keep anything down. I have two small children, and I feel exhausted all the time from the vomiting and the nausea. I have decided today that I will discontinue this medicine as I cannot deal with the severe side effects. Even Zofran isn’t working."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Ozempic about 3 months ago at .25 mg. My doctor made me start my 1st dose on a Monday in her office because I would tell her I would try and then never do it. Tuesday morning I was good, then by Tuesday night, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, till the wee hours of the morning. The symptoms slowed down throughout the week. Even though I was losing at least 3-4 pounds a week, a total of 35 pounds within a 2 1/2 month period. My A1C did go down, the side effects are deadly. I like the fact that I am losing weight, but I hope I don't have permanent damage from this medication."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in March 2019. Doctor put me on Ozempic rather than insulin, although it's not recommended. He thought it was worth a try along with 500 mg metformin twice daily. The first 3 weeks of 0.25 mg Ozempic were just fine. Very minimal side effects - occasional diarrhea, some gas, and belching. Nothing I couldn't handle. The fourth week of 0.25 mg was worse. Constant diarrhea for four days, nausea, some vomiting. I went to a different doctor thinking I had a stomach virus, he prescribed me an anti-diarrheal, and I felt better. I took the Ozempic at 0.5 mg then, as prescribed. Two days later, nightmare. Diarrhea again, vomiting, nausea, and serious fatigue. I'm in the throes of it right now, and I'm going to be contacting my doctor to see what I can do to counteract this. Besides the side effects, though, it's working beautifully. My blood sugar is down from the high 300s to the low 100s in just a month."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Ozempic for weight loss. I paid cash since I wasn't approved by insurance. I was about 15-20 pounds overweight and pre-diabetic with a family history of type 2 diabetes. No matter what I did, nothing made me lose weight. The first month at .25 mg was a dream come true. I had no appetite and felt very few side effects. I lost 10-12 pounds in the first month. The 5th shot was .5 mg. I became so ill. It started with huge belches and nausea. That night I vomited and was so lethargic and nauseous that I didn't get out of bed for 3 days. I had weird sores on my tongue. The next day I vomited again. I had to get Zofran for the nausea, which helped a bit. Almost a week later, I am due for this week's shot, and I have decided not to continue. I still have the belches from hell, weakness, and lethargy, but I am at least able to function and work. Climbing the stairs feels like Mt. Everest. I hope I feel normal again soon."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I took 4 shots of .25 Wegovy. The first shot had no side effects and no problems. The second shot was a little different. Mild upset stomach starting about 24 hours afterward with some stomach pain. This subsided within the third day. My appetite was suppressed, felt fuller for longer. In the third shot, I had no appetite with stomach pain that lasted two days, and also felt as if I were going to pass out. I drank orange juice and ate saltine crackers with peanut butter, which helped. The last .25 shot of Wegovy… I had lost 12 pounds by this shot. But within a day, I was projectile vomiting, upset stomach, extreme pain in my abdomen, chills, and dizziness. I was taken to the emergency room. I was diagnosed with colitis that had gone to sepsis. The doctor explained a side effect from Wegovy may cause gastrointestinal problems. Wegovy attacked my colon and in turn, sepsis formed. I will not continue this shot. So many side effects go with it. It does curve your appetite, but I would be very cautious."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I am so grateful for this site. I thought I was alone in experiencing these awful side effects. Yesterday was the worst. Started with horrible rotten egg burping. Woke up with vomiting. I started on 0.5 and decreased to 0.25 because I was experiencing nausea all the time. I am tired. Two weeks ago, I had severe constipation. It really helps with glucose control. I have been on it for four weeks. I plan to see my MD this week. I don't think I can continue. I've only lost 1 lb so far."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Started out taking 0.25 for 4 weeks, then the 5th week went to 0.50. The next day I was vomiting, had diarrhea, and sulfur burps. Couldn't hold anything down, not even water. Went to the ER the 2nd day to get IV fluids. Called the manufacturer and put in a report. They sent me a mailer to return the pen for evaluation. I am keeping a record of the lot # before I mail the pen back. I am taking a nausea pill and experiencing severe cramps and diarrhea, but the vomiting has stopped. Haven't had any solid food for 4 days, trying to eat Jell-O and applesauce and can barely get it down. So wished I would have read these reviews before I bumped it to 0.5. My diabetes doctor said to decrease. I am going to stop taking it. I have no spleen, so it is difficult to manage all these side effects. Hoping and praying I can start to feel better soon."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I've been on Ozempic for 7 weeks now: 4 weeks at 2.5 and half the usual insulin dose, followed by 3 weeks at 5.0 and no insulin, as instructed by my endocrinologist. I experienced leg cramps, stomach cramps, lethargy, and light-headedness among other symptoms in the first 4 weeks. My fasting sugar results increased. During my 3 weeks on the 5.0 dose, I have suffered feelings of nausea, regular bouts of light-headedness, and my fasting sugar levels are now up to the 14-17 range. My energy levels are decreasing. I am taking myself off this medication over the next 3 weeks. An interesting experiment to undergo but not worthwhile continuing as there are no benefits (except weight loss - and I can't afford to lose too much more weight) but light-headedness, lethargy, feeling like vomiting regularly, increased cramps, and, worst of all, my blood sugar levels going through the ceiling. Concentration levels are also a concern."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I've been on 1 mg of Ozempic for about 8 weeks and lost 13 pounds. My appetite has decreased. Other people started out at .25 or .5, I've noticed from reading other reviews. Considering this, I'm shocked my doctor started me on 1 mg. I was really sick the first month. Lots of vomiting, gas, stomach ache, and diarrhea. Despite all that, I'm pleased that I lost weight and the side effects have gone away. I just hope it continues to work as an appetite suppressant. Other meds I've taken that were originally one for me stopped working on my appetite after a while."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Started Ozempic and did pretty well on the .25 dose, but when I went to .5, things got bad fast. Absolutely the worst burps that eventually have me vomiting. Cannot find any relief from the nasty burps until finally throwing up. I had terrible headaches, and it felt like I had the flu-just completely exhausted. I am done with this medication, and I had high hopes for it. Hope everyone has a better experience."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "Stay away from beef! It's a game changer. I have lost 43 lbs over 4 months. It really works for me. I am at 1 mg/week now, and I feel full constantly. I eat around 1/4 of what I usually did, and my sweet tooth is a lot less than it used to be. I had a lot of side effects with sulfur burps, diarrhea, and vomiting at the beginning. I found a 100% correlation with eating beef and the nasty side effects. Even as little as 1 oz! I had been feeling fine for a month when I last week tried 1 bite of a nice steak! 24 hours later, the terrible side effects were back, and I lost 5 lbs over 24 hours (mostly fluids). So stick to chicken and fish. I have not dared to test pork or lamb yet."
