For Type 2 Diabetes "I am so grateful for this site. I thought I was alone in experiencing these awful side effects. Yesterday was the worst. Started with horrible rotten egg burping. Woke up with vomiting. I started on 0.5 and decreased to 0.25 because I was experiencing nausea all the time. I am tired. Two weeks ago, I had severe constipation. It really helps with glucose control. I have been on it for four weeks. I plan to see my MD this week. I don't think I can continue. I've only lost 1 lb so far."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Started Ozempic and did pretty well on the .25 dose, but when I went to .5, things got bad fast. Absolutely the worst burps that eventually have me vomiting. Cannot find any relief from the nasty burps until finally throwing up. I had terrible headaches, and it felt like I had the flu-just completely exhausted. I am done with this medication, and I had high hopes for it. Hope everyone has a better experience."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I've been on Ozempic for 7 weeks now: 4 weeks at 2.5 and half the usual insulin dose, followed by 3 weeks at 5.0 and no insulin, as instructed by my endocrinologist. I experienced leg cramps, stomach cramps, lethargy, and light-headedness among other symptoms in the first 4 weeks. My fasting sugar results increased. During my 3 weeks on the 5.0 dose, I have suffered feelings of nausea, regular bouts of light-headedness, and my fasting sugar levels are now up to the 14-17 range. My energy levels are decreasing. I am taking myself off this medication over the next 3 weeks. An interesting experiment to undergo but not worthwhile continuing as there are no benefits (except weight loss - and I can't afford to lose too much more weight) but light-headedness, lethargy, feeling like vomiting regularly, increased cramps, and, worst of all, my blood sugar levels going through the ceiling. Concentration levels are also a concern."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I've been on 1 mg of Ozempic for about 8 weeks and lost 13 pounds. My appetite has decreased. Other people started out at .25 or .5, I've noticed from reading other reviews. Considering this, I'm shocked my doctor started me on 1 mg. I was really sick the first month. Lots of vomiting, gas, stomach ache, and diarrhea. Despite all that, I'm pleased that I lost weight and the side effects have gone away. I just hope it continues to work as an appetite suppressant. Other meds I've taken that were originally one for me stopped working on my appetite after a while."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I lost 25 pounds in six months, and A1C dropped from 7.2 to 6.1. While I didn’t feel like eating early on, I didn’t feel sick with nausea. In six months, I have vomited perhaps 8 times. Small price for a big improvement in weight and blood sugar."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I've been on Ozempic for about two months now. I haven't really been nauseous, but my stomach would just feel yucky. I'm on the 0.5 dose now. I had vomiting and diarrhea only one time, and that was two days after my first dose. My appetite has decreased, and I have lost weight, but I'm not sure how much. I won't find out how my A1C is for another month or so."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was on Ozempic for about a year, lost +/- 14 kgs. Diabetes was controlled. After about 9 months of taking it, I started suffering with upper and lower tummy cramps and once had nausea and vomiting. Went in for an ultrasound, it showed I had a fibroid on my left ovary and my GP said I had colitis. Treated me with Nexium and Buscopan and asked me to stop the Ozempic as that was causing the colitis. Tummy cramps have not gone away completely as it's been a month since I stopped Ozempic, but I started feeling hungry all the time and it's so bad that if I don't eat, I start shaking and feel very weak. Oh, and I also started feeling very weak in my legs, not numb but tingly sort of. Sometimes I feel as if I'm going to fall to the floor in a puddle. Not sure if that is also related to the Ozempic."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Wow, I did lose a few pounds and have no appetite on Ozempic, but I just can’t tolerate this drug. I am the most violently ill I have ever been. I have had 2 doses of .25, and the abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea for the last 7 days have almost killed me. Too bad, it works, but not worth the side effects for me!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "This stuff is horrible! One dose of 0.25 mg and started with nausea and vomiting and watery diarrhea within 12 hrs. 12 hrs later, still going. No way to reverse it, according to pharmacy. I’m 77 years old and not sure how long I can handle this. Vomiting and nausea not responding to ginger or antiemetics. Watery diarrhea not letting up at all. After reading info online, it stays in the system for 5 weeks after the last dose."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Taking this medication as an additive to my type 1 regimen, I'm very insulin resistant, so using it as a glycogen inhibitor. Took my first dose Friday. By Sunday morning, my insides were liquid, I had vomiting, sulfur stomach, and no changes. I've missed two days of work now. There better be light at the end of this tunnel."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Sulfur burps (like eggs), terrible gas, confusion, diarrhea, vomiting, and nausea. Anxiety led to severe panic attacks. I did lose weight, but its side effects are not worth it. It caused me food aversion. Eating and drinking became a chore. My dose was increased each week by 0.25 mg."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started on 0.25 mg for 4 weeks and then increased it to 5.0 mg in the fifth week as per my doctor's instructions. However, during this time, I began to experience persistent pain on my right side, which worsened to the point where I couldn't sleep on that side anymore. By the sixth week, I started vomiting. Concerned about these symptoms, I had some lab work done, which revealed that the enzymes in my pancreas were elevated at 163, whereas the normal range is 110 and below. After discontinuing the medication, within about a week, the pain subsided, and my enzyme levels returned to normal."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "This drug is absolutely awful. I had horrible nausea from the beginning, along with vomiting and headaches 5 out of 7 days a week. I kept being told side effects would get better, but they just got worse. This is my 5th and final month on it. I literally don't remember the last time I was able to eat. 6 of the last 10 days, I wasn't even able to keep liquids down and became severely dehydrated. I had the absolute worst headache of my life. I've lost 12 pounds in 9 days, and not one pound of weight loss is worth it. I wake up in the morning wishing I'd just die instead of having to feel as awful as my body does every day. I took my last dose 10 days ago, so I'm praying this poison gets out of my body ASAP. This stuff is toxic."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started taking the .25 a week ago. The first 2-3 days, I had stomach pain, headache, and vomiting, none of which were bad. I took my second shot yesterday, and the gas was awful. The one thing that I really wanted to do was to lose some weight, and so far, I've lost 3 lbs. My appetite is slowly fading, but I have to watch myself because I'm still craving sweets at night. I have to make myself drink fluids, but luckily the one thing I did crave was Cokes, and I don't even think about them anymore. I love this med."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I took Ozempic last October, but I had to come off it - I was so ill. I'm type 2 diabetic and Hashimoto's thyroiditis autoimmune disease. I'm 57 years old and post-menopause. The doctor decided I should try again, I started 5 weeks ago and had my 5th injection. I have been sick since I restarted. I have nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, brain fog, anxiety, burning in my stomach, headaches, and I'm so tired and weak. I tried to stick with it, I'm on the 3rd day since my 5th injection. I am so ill, I still have all the above symptoms, but worse. My kidneys are sore and my lungs. I have pain in my stomach and back. I feel like my body is poisoned, and I have to wait for 5 weeks for it to clear out of my system. I will never take this again."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was placed on Ozempic after I had a terrible experience with Invokana and Farxiga. With Invokana, my doctor increased from 1 to 200 mg. My hand started to swell, accompanied by a severe yeast infection. He moved me to Farxiga, from 5 mg to 10 mg, my blood sugar went up to 25 mg. My flesh under my breast started to blister severely, as well as a severe yeast infection and blisters between my legs. I requested him to transfer me to an endocrinologist. He placed me on Ozempic. Unfortunately, my blood sugar did not reduce. I was still at 8.2. I ended up vomiting on Thursday, Jan 28. I told my endo. This dose was increased to 1 mg. I was very lightheaded and felt very anxious and nervous. He advised that I count the clicks to reduce to 75 mg. I am fearful. Is this right? I just don't feel right with this drug. How do I stop using this drug without further damage?"

For Type 2 Diabetes "Been on Ozempic 3 months. I hate this mess. I’m constantly throwing up (not good, just bile). I’ve never been so weak in my life. Since taking the drug, I constantly pass out even though I’ve had to decrease my long-term insulin. I’ve consulted with my doctors, and they keep saying let my body become accustomed to the med. The erratic bowel issues are insane. One day I’m so bloated from constipation, 2 days later I have diarrhea. Not much I can eat without throwing up. I honestly don’t know how much longer I can do this."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I did not like the side effects that I experienced while taking Ozempic. The first day I was on Ozempic, I had severe vomiting. Although I did not continue to vomit, I did feel nauseated and not well the 4 months while on Ozempic. I also started experiencing severe headaches, and my sinuses became very dry and hurt. I then lost my sense of taste and smell. I stopped taking it right away. It has been more than two years since I last took Ozempic and still cannot taste or smell. I would not recommend this drug to anyone."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started this drug to try and lower my A1C, which had climbed to 7.2. My nurse practitioner put me on it. She showed me how to do the injections, but no warnings of side effects. I took a .25 dose for 4 weeks, suffering pain in my stomach that radiated to my back. Absolutely no craving to eat anything at all. Had constipation. Then I went to a .5 injection and was fine for a bit until severe nausea began, along with dizziness and vomiting. I thought it was going to be the end of me, because then the unrelenting diarrhea began. I waited days in bed, so very ill, and decided to quit this awful medication. I have lost 6 pounds, and my morning glucose numbers are 107, it's lower, but feeling this deathly ill just isn't worth it. I quit the medication, though I understand it could take 5 weeks to leave my body. Beware of this drug."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "My doctor suggested I take Ozempic to bring down my weight and lower my chances of becoming diabetic, which runs in the family. I am 67 and trying to stay healthy. Started a month ago on .25, things were okay, some nausea and decrease in appetite. Started this week on .5 and have been extremely sick, two days in and vomiting frequently. Already have acid reflux, and it is getting worse. The most embarrassing part was today, as I was walking in the street, it just came upon me, and I had to find a corner to vomit on-a horrible experience, to say the least. I want to stick it out and hope it will get better, but I'm not sure I can. My doctor projects a two-month regimen. Hopefully, I can make it, but honestly, if things do not improve on my next dose, I will not be taking it anymore. I question the high out-of-pocket cost for a drug that is causing me so much misery."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "The worst side effects. I had one dose only (injected into my belly). Ninety minutes later, began a living nightmare of uncontrollable vomiting and diarrhea for 30 hours. Taking regular suppositories now to control vomiting. Even the smell of food makes me vomit. I have not been able to get out of bed. Dosage is level 3 out of five. Spoke before starting the drug, and they didn’t explain the side effects could be this bad. I lost 7.5 lbs in 30 hours of nonstop vomiting. Not worth it."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was placed on Ozempic last year because Metformin has always caused awful nausea. I have never in my life had any issue with constipation until I started taking this medication. I was so sick with diarrhea and throwing up 3 weeks ago I thought I'd actually die. I have had bad rashes. I think they would have been worse if I were not on allergy medication. The latest rash is healing. I've never had to take laxatives until this medication. I'd rather deal with the nausea than rashes, vomiting, constipation, poor appetite, and legs feeling strange. I wasn't overweight, so that was not an issue. My numbers have never been more than 6.1. Then, when I read that it can cause death, that was the end all for me. It may help someone, but I'm not the someone! Medicine should make one better, not worse. When I first started this drug, I spoke with someone from the company that makes it about the constipation issue and also my doctor. They said that it would get better, but that hasn't happened."

For Type 2 Diabetes "My very first injection has made me deathly ill. The nausea, vomiting, bloating, gas, most intense hunger pains, cramping, sulfur burps that make you want to throw up, and just generally feeling miserable. The thought of food most of the time has made me want to throw up. I can't take my other meds most of the time because I end up vomiting. All this while trying to work full time. I have tried Trulicity, which made me very sick, Victoza put me in the emergency room. Ozempic has me close to the emergency room if I end up dehydrated. This is how I imagine being poisoned would feel like. Medicine should not make you feel this bad. No illness that I have had has made me feel this horrible. If you have any kind of stomach issues, really, I have GERD, think twice before injecting this nasty 'medication.'"

For Type 2 Diabetes "Severe diarrhea all the time. I could not go one day without having diarrhea. It's been two weeks since I started, btw. My shoulders and knees hurt so bad, and I'm very gassy. Occasional nausea and vomiting occurred as well. My eyesight has blurred severely. My doctor said they might remove this med from my RX due to me not being able to live a normal life. I literally have to take an extra change of clothes with me everywhere I go just in case."

"I began taking this medication off-label for weight loss. I am on my second week and took my second shot last night. I felt my appetite decrease the first week. I threw up from nausea this morning. I think I ate too much yesterday. The med does slow down digestion to leave you feeling full longer. I did eat a normal serving of dinner but had eaten a couple of hours prior, and I just don't think my body could process all the food. I won't be giving up on the med. So far, the nausea/vomiting and perhaps some vision changes are the side effects I am noticing. My eyes seem tired, and it's not that I can't see, but they feel a bit strained. I should add that so far, I have lost 5 pounds in 7 days."
