For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Sulfur burps (like eggs), terrible gas, confusion, diarrhea, vomiting, and nausea. Anxiety led to severe panic attacks. I did lose weight, but its side effects are not worth it. It caused me food aversion. Eating and drinking became a chore. My dose was increased each week by 0.25 mg."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I took Ozempic last October, but I had to come off it - I was so ill. I'm type 2 diabetic and Hashimoto's thyroiditis autoimmune disease. I'm 57 years old and post-menopause. The doctor decided I should try again, I started 5 weeks ago and had my 5th injection. I have been sick since I restarted. I have nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, brain fog, anxiety, burning in my stomach, headaches, and I'm so tired and weak. I tried to stick with it, I'm on the 3rd day since my 5th injection. I am so ill, I still have all the above symptoms, but worse. My kidneys are sore and my lungs. I have pain in my stomach and back. I feel like my body is poisoned, and I have to wait for 5 weeks for it to clear out of my system. I will never take this again."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I lost 15 lbs in 2 months, but during the end of my treatment, I discontinued use due to worsening side effects such as: chest tightness, weakness, lethargy, extreme nausea, diarrhea, shortness of breath. I also experienced cotton mouth; however, I am unsure if this was due to this medication, as I had a wisdom tooth removal during this time. My treatment started at 0.25 mg for 4 weeks and then increased to 0.5 mg for weeks 5-8, then increased to 1.0 mg at week 9, which is when the side effects became alarming, and I chose not to increase the dose. At week 10, I did increase to 1.0 mg and decided to stop after, as I chose to listen to my body and not push it. The ease of use was fine as I don't mind needles too much; the sensation was slightly uncomfortable but not painful."

For Type 2 Diabetes "OMG ... it’s not me. Dr. started me at .5 of Ozempic, first day after injection pretty much okay, then came nausea, stomach ache, headaches, then just dulled, gassy (didn’t know the burps were part of it but that increased), diarrhea, feeling beyond blah. I went to work and struggled through the day for 4 days like this. The first week wasn’t sure if it was the shot or some food, so I tried the Ozempic again. The second week was a little better, so I decided I’ll try the smaller dose. Today is day 2, but this morn, there’s the nausea, stomach ache, a little bit of headache, but lesser amounts. Despite the thought of weight loss, might be heading back to Januvia (Farxiga got the yeast infection, but it was cheap, $15 for 90 with insurance)."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started this drug to try and lower my A1C, which had climbed to 7.2. My nurse practitioner put me on it. She showed me how to do the injections, but no warnings of side effects. I took a .25 dose for 4 weeks, suffering pain in my stomach that radiated to my back. Absolutely no craving to eat anything at all. Had constipation. Then I went to a .5 injection and was fine for a bit until severe nausea began, along with dizziness and vomiting. I thought it was going to be the end of me, because then the unrelenting diarrhea began. I waited days in bed, so very ill, and decided to quit this awful medication. I have lost 6 pounds, and my morning glucose numbers are 107, it's lower, but feeling this deathly ill just isn't worth it. I quit the medication, though I understand it could take 5 weeks to leave my body. Beware of this drug."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was placed on Ozempic last year because Metformin has always caused awful nausea. I have never in my life had any issue with constipation until I started taking this medication. I was so sick with diarrhea and throwing up 3 weeks ago I thought I'd actually die. I have had bad rashes. I think they would have been worse if I were not on allergy medication. The latest rash is healing. I've never had to take laxatives until this medication. I'd rather deal with the nausea than rashes, vomiting, constipation, poor appetite, and legs feeling strange. I wasn't overweight, so that was not an issue. My numbers have never been more than 6.1. Then, when I read that it can cause death, that was the end all for me. It may help someone, but I'm not the someone! Medicine should make one better, not worse. When I first started this drug, I spoke with someone from the company that makes it about the constipation issue and also my doctor. They said that it would get better, but that hasn't happened."

For Type 2 Diabetes "The first week I took Ozempic, I had nausea and watery diarrhea for about 12 hours. Indigestion with a sulfur taste for 1 day. The second week, the nausea, diarrhea, and indigestion lasted for 2 days. The third week, it lasted for 6 days. Severe abdominal pain, I could barely get out of bed. I had to stop taking this medicine. The only good thing was I lost 12 pounds in 2 days."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I've been on Ozempic for three years. Started with a .25 dose, then a .5 dose, and this week started a 1.0 dose. Throughout taking Ozempic, and before it, I also take Xigduo. I feel sick, nauseated, disgusted by food and smells of food, and more recently, extreme gas at both ends... both smell like rotting garbage or sulfur. Nothing helps with any symptoms. Gas reliever just means more gas and vomit burps. I have diarrhea regularly. My count is down to 6.9, but what is the point of taking something that clearly hinders my enjoyment of life? I'm really NOT bagging on this drug, it does what it is supposed to, but I wish there were a way to stop the side effects. If anyone has ideas, please share!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Ozempic to assist with my A1C. It was at 7.3 or so. After a month or two, it went down to 5.3. I have lost almost 50 pounds in the year I have been on it (up to 1 mg dose). It really works to suppress the appetite most of the time. The bad: diarrhea, belching (especially after high-carb or sugary foods), nausea at times (when I first started, it was horrible), going from not hungry to starving to puking in a matter of seconds. My husband is also on it, but he doesn't have the same side effects. It's easy to use if you can get over poking yourself with a needle every week. I get some injection site burning pain that goes away quickly."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Severe diarrhea all the time. I could not go one day without having diarrhea. It's been two weeks since I started, btw. My shoulders and knees hurt so bad, and I'm very gassy. Occasional nausea and vomiting occurred as well. My eyesight has blurred severely. My doctor said they might remove this med from my RX due to me not being able to live a normal life. I literally have to take an extra change of clothes with me everywhere I go just in case."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have type 2 diabetes and am overweight. Although I try to eat healthy and walk, I am always tired and couldn’t lose weight. I started Ozempic about 6 months ago. At 0.25 mg, I experienced nausea, bloating, and diarrhea after I ate anything. I didn’t want to increase my dose after 4 weeks due to the side effects. The symptoms lessened but didn’t go away. I increased my dose 3 months ago to 0.50 mg. I have lost about 18 pounds, but the side effects make me feel terrible. I experience sharp stomachache pains, nausea, and overall not feeling well, and the worst symptom is terrible leg pain. Both legs hurt constantly from my knees down. Some nights I cannot sleep. I have been told it’s not a reported side effect, but it started right after I increased my dose. My A1C is down from 12 to 7.5, so I want to continue but am not sure if I can tolerate this discomfort. Has anyone else experienced leg/foot pain? My doctor says it’s from diabetes, but my numbers are down, and I never had this pain before."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Ozempic lowered my A1C, and I lost weight due to the constant nausea and diarrhea. When I was on the 0.25 dose, the stomach issues were there but not as severe. Once I went up to the 0.5 dose, the diarrhea was constant. I lost over 22 lbs in 4 weeks. I was unable to eat most foods because I lost my taste or the food made my stomach turn. I became severely dehydrated and ended up in the hospital for 3 days because my potassium and magnesium were at dangerously low levels, as well as my kidneys were not working properly. Needless to say, I will never use this medication again."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been taking it for over a month. No side effects for the first 2 weeks on the lower dose. Since I am using the higher dose now - I have had some very bad nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Also, lots of burping, and it smells terrible. When I have vomited - it is so much volume. More than any time in my life. It has reduced my appetite, but if I drink alcohol, it usually makes me physically sick."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was prescribed Ozempic for Type 2 diabetes to help lower my blood sugar and to help with weight loss. The first week wasn't so bad, just a little fatigued and some upset stomach problems. The second week it kicked in overtime and hit me like a brick wall. I had no energy at all. Stayed in bed because it's all I could do. My stomach was so upset and nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea were so bad, it ran like water. I became more dehydrated with less energy. I have 4 autoimmune diseases and this was the sickest I have ever felt in my life. I almost went to the ER and if not for Covid, I would have. It felt like someone had been feeding me rat poison. It's the worst feeling ever. I truly don't know how this drug was approved by the FDA. I plan to take myself off it. Weight loss and blood sugar need to be done in a healthier manner. Lose weight fast and easy has consequences."

For Type 2 Diabetes "My first week, I felt tired and had no energy. Mild, intermittent nausea. Guess that's the appetite suppressant part. After the first 3 days, I started getting quite a bit of stomach discomfort and diarrhea. Anything I ate or drank went right through me, as well as gas. Also, an unusual amount of belching. Hope this goes away soon and does not happen after every dose. I teach 4-year-olds, and it greatly affected my ability to do my job. My BS numbers are not much different."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I unfortunately had a very severe reaction to Ozempic. I usually do suffer side effects from most medications, but thought I would give it a try. The first two weeks were headache, general stomach ache, and constipation lasting 2 days after each injection. Weeks 3 and 4 got worse. Stronger reactions, lasting longer. Week 5, I started the double dose, and I was pretty ill for 2 days. Week 6 and 7 was rough, but I thought I could ride it out. Week 8 had me in emergency twice for diarrhea, vomiting, headache, and major dehydration. I was unable to eat or drink anything. I had to get rehydrated and be given anti-nausea meds on both occasions. I guess my body slowed the release of food so much I had a massive buildup to the point even a sip of water made me extremely nauseous. Ozempic is not for me."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I started this medication last week on Tuesday. The first two days, I had a headache and a flu-like feeling. Throughout the week, I felt nausea almost daily, bouts of diarrhea, and bloated. Today is my second dose of 0.25, and I lost 4 pounds in 7 days (probably the fact that anytime I eat, my next bowel movement is diarrhea). I have felt a general unwellness for the last 7 days and am anxious about how this week will go, as I haven't been able to accomplish what I normally am able to. If this week gets worse and I start vomiting and being really unwell, then I will stop taking this medication. I definitely don't have the same appetite I did before, and my junk food craving has basically been vanquished, however. If the symptoms don't peter out or they get worse, I don't see the point, as it affects my son's life as well when I can't be the best mom I can be."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I always struggled to lose weight in my life due to a big appetite. Now at age 34, after 3 C-sections, I was at the highest point of my weight, 81 kg at 5'3" height. I started Ozempic from 0.25 mg, and now I am in week 7 and taking a 1 mg dose. In 7 weeks, I have lost 15 lbs. I can't be more than happy. I had mild side effects here and there: nausea and diarrhea, but nothing I can't handle. It has cut my appetite by 90%. I will take it until I reach my normal BMI. Totally a game changer and lifesaver. I will keep you posted."

For Type 2 Diabetes "After 4-6 weeks, I still suffer various levels of intensities of nausea, but short-lived diarrhea, plenty of burping, and fatigue that is often overwhelming. Some days, no problems. I manage the symptoms by enduring until they ease up, or I may choose to seek fast relief using what's available. Its benefits are now close to 'tight control' and significant weight loss (overcoming the stagnant plateau of a period of weight loss)."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started on 0.25 for four weeks, had nausea, dizziness, burping nonstop every day, off-the-wall gas, and bloating. Went on 0.5, more or less the same side effects except more abdominal pain. Then went to 1 mg, my skin started feeling like I had a bad sunburn from the waist up. It hurt when clothes touched it. Four weeks later, went on 2 mg. All same symptoms. Then I started having severe neck pain and shoulder pain. Was on 8 months and only lost 16 pounds. A1c went from 7.5 to 5.5, but a lot had to do with eating less. I have EPI, so it was not worth it to me to take it anymore. Also, thyroid cancer runs in my family. Had a friend tell me her friend got thyroid cancer after 3 months, also had a lot of diarrhea. Now I'm off, no symptoms, skin feels better, and sugar around 130."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have Type 2 diabetes that I’ve kept under control by taking Metformin, Jardiance, and insulin. I saw a new endocrinologist 2 weeks ago who suggested I try Ozempic, with the hope of eliminating the insulin. She prescribed taking .25 mg initially for 4 weeks and then bumping up to .50, also reducing my insulin to 15 units and hopefully eliminating it later. She did say it could cause some stomach issues, but mainly said it could make you not want to eat much. I think in hindsight she downplayed the side effects. I took my first dose a week ago. The first 3 days were fine. The 4th day I started having foul-tasting belches and then got such severe stomach/gas cramping I almost went to the ER. I have a high pain tolerance, so for me to be in that much pain says a lot. I was able to finally get relief by drinking baking soda water, but then had extreme diarrhea, nausea, body aches, and fatigue. I missed 2 days of work. I called the doctor, and she said my symptoms were severe and to stop taking it. Horrible experience!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I am a 54-year-old overweight male who started taking Ozempic 3 months ago to help control my type 2 diabetes and to lower my A1C. For the first 3 weeks, I took a 0.25 dose weekly and felt okay. Some occasional stomach cramps and nausea. For the past 2 months, I have been taking a 0.50 dose, and side effects have gotten worse. Loss of appetite, stomach pains, feeling nauseous, and uncontrollable diarrhea while sleeping. Yes, that's right... I have been pooping the bed. On the plus side, I have lost over 20 lbs, but at quite a disgusting price to pay. Time to either quit taking this or try something else. I now understand the commercials where the people say 'O.' It's because 'O, I pooped my pants again.'"

For Type 2 Diabetes "The first dose I took (0.25 mg) I had nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea for three days. The second dose was also 0.25 mg. Thereafter, the dose increased to 0.5 mg, and I have found that my glucose readings have stabilized to just below 7. I am now in my 7th week. I occasionally have a loose stool, perhaps once a month. My appetite has reduced a lot, and I have lost weight. I haven't weighed myself, but I would say about 6 kg. I feel good. I do need more sleep, and my body craves rest."
