"I started with 0.25 Ozempic in November 2020 and upped my dosage to 0.5 in January 2021. My A1C is the same as when I was taking 2000 mg Metformin daily (5.1-5.3%). My doctor decided to switch me to help with weight loss and manage my pre-diabetes. I have lost 47 lbs, which is great, but it isn't a healthy way to lose weight. I met with a GI specialist and was diagnosed with gastroparesis, they had me discontinue Ozempic to see if my symptoms would disappear. That was 6 weeks ago, and my stomach is still paralyzed. I have sulfur burps, diarrhea, severe constipation, and vomiting daily. I now have to eat a low FODMAP diet and can only manage a few mouthfuls of food at a time. I have no quality of life anymore, I can no longer enjoy many of the things I used to, which has caused me severe anxiety and depression. While the weight loss benefits sound appealing, please think twice before taking this drug."

"My doctor put me on Ozempic to lower my blood sugar and A1c, as every time I check my blood sugar it’s extremely high in the 200s and 300s. So that is why my doctor put me on Ozempic. At the beginning of the year, before the medication, my A1c was 10.8, and my blood sugar was in the 200s. Five weeks later, I went to the doctor this week and got my sugar checked, it was 72. I couldn’t believe it, plus my A1c is 8.2, and I lost 5 lbs in just a short period. I take my shot every Sunday, .25. The day after I take the shot, I do experience some nausea, headaches, and constipation, but it’s only for one day, and it’s worth it for these low numbers. I was scared to take this new drug because I already take metformin 1000 mg once a day, but I’m so happy my doctor introduced me to this medicine. If you guys can get through the side effects, keep taking it, this medicine really works."

"I was taking Ozempic for two years, lost weight. Blood sugars were great. Then I developed pancreatitis and had to come off. I was never on insulin before Ozempic, but now I am. I would not take this drug again. The side effects are not worth it."

"Have been on this med for about 6 weeks. Started at 0.25, now at 1 mg. I have to say I am loving my numbers now. Have lost 12 lbs, and the only side effect is mild stomach cramps occasionally and a slight headache. I only hope the trend continues, since some posts have me concerned."

"On Ozempic for 6 weeks at the .25 dose. Tried to increase when it was time. Ozempic made me extremely dizzy, nervous, with high anxieties, essentially when driving. Had to stop taking it. My A1C dropped from 10 to 8.2. Back to square one."

"This is terrible. It is my second time trying to take this medication. I have experienced vomiting, stomach ache, sweating, and chills. I feel so bad that I am not going to try 'to get used to this medication.'"

"72-year-old male, very active, strong and not overweight. Borderline diabetes, which I was controlling with diet, but doc prescribed Ozempic. Started with 1 mg, felt queasy and decreased dose to 0.5 for 3 weeks. Then the new box had only 1 mg applicator and took this twice. After the second week, next day experienced such severe fatigue that I could not walk, could not put any weight on my legs to walk, and fell. Was taken to ER. They could not find a problem - tests included EKG, chest X-ray, a head CAT scan, and blood work. Concluded it was an Ozempic side effect. Have had side effects from numerous meds, but this one put me in the ER. This stuff is not for me."

"I am on my 3rd month of taking Ozempic. No decrease in A1C as of yet. Weight loss, none. Ease of use, I find handling the needles cumbersome. The needles are smaller than Trulicity and less painful to inject. Less bruising at the injection site. Current side effects: nausea, stomach pain, stomach discomfort, swelling, bloating, increased constipation, increased hunger, sour stomach, headaches. I find I am forced to take additional medication/supplements in attempting to eliminate some of the side effects. I've taken stool softeners and laxatives in order to improve constipation with limited success. I am taking a pain reliever almost daily for headaches. I am also taking medication to help ease the nausea with limited success."

"Well, so far, my experience with Ozempic has not been great. I started out using the 0.25 mg and never had any nausea at all, no lethargy...nothing. My doctor then suggested I increase my dosage to 1 mg, and that, for me, was a HUGE mistake. I have kidney issues, and I began noticing that I was having to urinate less and less frequently, not to mention the constant nausea and extreme lethargy. I felt awful and decided not to do this medication any longer. Since quitting, I feel 100% better, my energy has come back with regular trips to the bathroom now. I would rather have my sugar be a little elevated than wind up on dialysis. For everyone that is on this medication, I wish you the best of luck, and I hope this helps your sugar levels, it just wasn't meant for me."

"I currently take 1000 mg of Metformin twice a day, Lantus at night, and Humalog before I eat a meal and snacks. I started taking 0.25 mg of Ozempic on 01/03/2020. By the first evening, I was cramped up so bad, I didn’t want to eat or move. This really didn’t change for 3 weeks. At that time I called my doctor and told her what I had experienced, and then we moved to 0.5 mg. All I can tell you is that I have been miserable since starting to take this drug. Excessive gas in my stomach that leads to bloating, abdominal discomfort, and waking up every 1 or 2 hours to belch away the gas. OMG, the smell of the gas from my stomach could wake the dead, and that terrible taste I have in my mouth most of the time. I will find out about A1C in the coming weeks. I have been able to reduce my Lantus from 70 units to 40 units, and Humalog from 1 unit/5 carbs to 1 unit/10 carbs."

"Was taking Trulicity until 2 weeks ago. My VA hospital said they need to switch me to Ozempic. I agreed. Took my first dose 2 days ago after I was out of Trulicity, and I don't remember a time in my life I felt so sick. Acid reflux, abdominal cramps, sweating with chills, vomiting even if I sip water. I'm thin enough for the weight loss to be irrelevant, but being dehydrated is terrible. I won't be taking more of this."

"Ended up in the emergency room on the day of the second dose. Triggered a gallbladder issue and ended up elevating my liver enzymes. Symptoms mimicked a heart attack or pancreatitis. Hard to tell the difference. Severe abdominal pain radiating to the back, elevated heart rate, nausea, gas, bloating. For some people, this type of medication is very, very bad medicine and totally not worth it. I lost 10 pounds in two weeks because it made me so sick I could not eat or drink. One day this will also have an FDA black box label on it like Byetta. A class action lawsuit will be on your TV commercials. I would be seriously careful if you plan on taking this medication for anything, weight loss or glucose control. Not worth it. Once you get sick, you will be longing to get the stuff out of your system and will be physiologically impacted by the experience. No antidote. Have to wait it out. Never again. The Russian roulette of diabetes medication. Taker beware."

"T2D 15 years, morbidly obese. At the 3rd week at a dose of 0.5, I was unable to keep water down or take other medications. Other side effects were sulfur belching, burning acid, and pain in the stomach and up the throat, brown water vomit. Unable to sleep more than 2 hours at a time. Blood sugars as high as 345. Lost weight because I couldn't eat, but no appetite anyway. Constipated for days. Then had a bowel movement and horrible effects eased. Started at 325 lbs, lost 22 lbs. Couldn't handle any more and stopped taking it. Consulted the doctor and restarted after 3 weeks. Manageable up to the 3rd injection, and horrible symptoms started again. Going through all the same dramas again. Will quit for good now! Weight loss not worth it!"

"After 30 days, I was begging for my metformin back. My insurance company took me off, it took two doctors to get me back on it. On Ozempic, my BS went up into the 400-500 range. Six months later, blood sugar back down to 120-150, A1C 7.0. Ozempic, no good for me."

"I have type 2 diabetes, and before Ozempic, my A1C was 6.3, now it's down to 5.3. I tried Trulicity before, but it was a hassle with the one-dose pen and refrigeration, and more expensive under my plan. Didn't help with my weight at all. Ozempic has worked great for me. Completely controls my appetite. It does cause some bloating and nausea, but not severe enough to make me need to stop taking the medication. I started on 0.25 and then increased to 0.5 - I've lost 27 lbs so far! I'm really hoping the appetite control lasts. I think with this drug, you really MUST decrease your food intake to lessen the side effects."

"My doctor recommended Ozempic to help me lose weight. I have been on Metformin for about 10 years, and I feel like it had stopped working. During the pandemic and lockdown, I had gained 10 lbs and was having a hard time sticking to a diet. Since taking the Ozempic, I have lost 17 lbs so far and feel a lot better. I’ve been taking it since May 20th, so it’s been around 2 months. I have some nausea once in a while, but nothing too bad. My morning sugars have been great also. Right now, I’m hoping to stay on it until I get down to a more comfortable weight. Oh, and my sugar cravings don’t exist anymore, which was a big problem for me."

"I was a 63-year-old female when I started Ozempic. 5'2", 208#. A1C of 7.2. History of stroke, cardiovascular disease, Hashimoto's, fibromyalgia, and the list goes on. At the beginning, I had some nausea, but not terribly. I have been on it for 14 months and have lost 85#! From 208# to 125#. Average about 5#/month. When increased to 2.0, I had some issues with constipation but worked through it. Now, with a normal BMI, A1C is at 4.9 and steady. Continuing at 2.0 to maintain. I would highly recommend this to anyone! Following recent labs, my endocrinologist sent a message, 'Diabetes is in remission!' Woohoo! Good luck, everyone!"

"My A1C had gone up as high as 8.0, and my doctor kept adding medications to my arsenal of drugs to control my diabetes. I was taking so many drugs but was getting terrible side effects, including kidney stones, liver enzymes over 600, diarrhea, nausea, and finally, I was hospitalized and taken off all my drugs, but then my diabetes was out of control. Finally, my GI specialist recommended starting with Ozempic .5, and that's when everything started to change. At first, I didn't see much change in my weight loss, so my doctor raised it to 1mm. It was then that I saw my A1C go down to 7.2, and I had lost 10 pounds without trying. Now I have been taking Ozempic for over a year, and my A1C is down to 6.7, and I dropped 20 pounds. I don't have any side effects unless I overeat, which I avoid. If I overeat, I get an uncomfortable feeling in my stomach, but within a short period, it subsides. I wish my mother would have had the ability to get Ozempic 10 years ago, maybe she'd be alive today."

"I only did 2 lowest dose injections and stopped. The side effects were awful and still linger. The worst thing about the medication has been the gas, bloating, diarrhea, and awful taste/smell when I burp. I’m 6 days in after my last injection, and I still have all symptoms and continued diarrhea."

"I have been taking Ozempic now for three months. I started at 0.25, felt somewhat nauseous, not terrible. Then increased to 0.5 and again, not terrible. I also take Synjardy. I then went to 1 mg and that’s when the trouble started. I was at first getting sick maybe twice a week. But I lost weight and my A1C came down. But I noticed I was, after a while, getting bad stomach pains and constipated and/or the opposite. The worst was how many times I was getting sick. It went from possibly twice a week to two or three times every other day. And without warning, I would be driving, and it would hit me. So I called my doctor and asked to be decreased back down to 0.5. I did not want to get off it because I know it’s been helping. I do still get nauseous and sick sometimes, but not nearly as bad as at 1 mg. My appetite has decreased a lot to where I might only eat twice a day."

"I have been taking this medicine for the past 4 weeks (0.25) and have been very sick. I have very bad stomach pains with a 'cramp' on the lower left side of my abdomen. Also, I have a weird feeling and a lot of stomach pain. The nausea is so bad it prevents me from eating. I can't stand the smell of food right now, which is not good for my diabetes. I am also very sensitive to oral diabetic medication and was wondering if my doctor should have prescribed this. I am not overweight, so I do not need this for weight loss, only sugar level control. I will not advance to the 0.5 doses. As a matter of fact, I am stopping this medicine altogether. I cannot continue to take medicine that is supposed to help but makes me so sick."

"Started with the 0.25 dose & after 5 weeks went to 0.50. Side effects were minimal, mostly just an upset stomach for the first day after a shot. Pens were easy to use & directions easy to follow. My A1c went from 10.3 to 6.2 after 90 days & I lost 22 lbs. I made significant dietary changes, which were helped because overeating gave me that 'too full to move' feeling you get on Thanksgiving, even with small portions. I eat 4-5 times a day but in small portions & calories under 1200 daily. Constipation was avoided by an increase in fiber/vegetables and water."

"I started Ozempic two months ago. At first, I was okay, just a little stomach discomfort. But over the last 3 weeks, things have gotten horribly worse. I can't eat without feeling sick. And explosive diarrhea started. I feel like I have horrible food poisoning. I will never take this drug again."

"So far I love the results. My A1C was 9.8 and now it is 5.6. From August 2020 to now, I lost 67 lbs with diet and working out from the first week. I had a headache, but after, nothing but positive results from low blood sugars ranging from 80 to 110. I kept checking, I thought it was wrong, lol, but overall I tell everyone that is type 2 to speak to their doctor and see if it works for them."
