Rizatriptan for Migraine "From the age of 26, suffered migraines, vomiting for days on end, had all sorts of medicines. Before Maxalt, were Cafergot suppositories - a savior but many side effects. For the past 9 years or so, have been taking Maxalt, this is excellent for me, usually one wafer, rest a little for an hour, and I feel like brand new, which is amazing considering what I have been through in the past. My brand was MSD, however, recently my pharmacist gave me APO, and I remember once before being prescribed this generic and it did not seem as effective. I conveyed this to the pharmacist, and he said they are both the same, but after not having a migraine for some time, took the Maxalt APO today, and I must say it was not really that effective. Although my migraine has subsided, it has not gone completely, it never happened with the Maxalt MSD brand, it never failed me. One could say it's in my head (excuse the pun), but I am curious about the result. The wafers taste different and dissolve at a different rate? Any comments from anyone else?"

Rizatriptan for Migraine "I have had migraines since I was 11. When people say they are not hereditary... they are wrong. My grandma, mom, sisters, and brothers all have them, they did not even skip a generation... My daughter and nieces as well get them. My physician calls mine sinus migraines. I get stomach pain, vomiting, an aura, light sensitivity. They had me on Demerol, Percocet, Phenergan, Imitrex, nothing helped. I have been on Maxalt a few years, and the one thing I have noticed is that I get pain around the upper jaw area just under the ear... then, all of a sudden, like the snap of a finger, all pain is gone in 15 to 25 minutes. It makes me drowsy. I wake up from my nap feeling great but really thirsty."

Rizatriptan for Migraine "This little wafer gave me life back! I used to suffer every week, at least one attack. Not only does this kill the feeling of my brain bursting through my skull, but it stops the vomiting. Saved my life, I felt I couldn't continue my life with such a debilitating condition."

For Migraine "Suffered hideously for over thirty years with severe migraines (caused by hormones or anxiety) - I don't need to tell other migraine sufferers just how awful my suffering was and how much it impacted my daily life. Rizatriptan has been a miracle and a life-changer for me. I take one as soon as I am aware of a migraine starting - sometimes, if I haven't quite taken it early enough, I take a second dose a couple of hours later. ALL pain and misery are stopped by this pill - I cannot express how grateful I am for that. I usually still spend the day very quietly, or sleeping in bed, but without the pain, vomiting, and despair."

Rizatriptan for Migraine "I've had migraines since I was about 9 years old because of a lifelong battle with insomnia. When I was a kid and I had my first migraine... I thought I was dying. I didn't understand what I had, what set it off, or why I had it. And the pain and all of the vomiting. EVERYTHING hurt. Any light, the slightest noise, and any movement I made while in bed made the migraine worse and I'd start vomiting NON-STOP. The doctor prescribed Maxalt to me. I didn't even know they MADE medicines for migraines, and I have to say I cannot be without it. But as the directions state, take AS SOON as you feel a migraine (not just a headache) coming on. Your body usually gives you signs, for me, it's excessive yawning every few seconds and irritability."

Rizatriptan for Migraine "I am a 23-year-old male suffering from occasional (about once a month) migraine attacks, which are often accompanied by uncontrollable vomiting. My neurologist prescribed me this medicine, saying that it is the most advanced one currently available and made specifically for migraines. Unfortunately, after taking the medicine several times during various attacks, it had about as much effect as an aspirin and it did not stop the pain or the nausea. My mother, who suffers from more frequent and severe migraines than I do, got prescribed the same medicine, but it didn't help her either. I ended up switching to ketoprofen-based painkillers, which have been most effective for me, but don't work during the worst attacks."

Rizatriptan for Migraine "I am 34 years old and have suffered migraines on and off since I was about 10 years old. This is the first medication that has helped me. It's great that it is a wafer and easy to take, as vomiting is perhaps what stops other medications from working? Thank you, Maxalt, I love you!"

For Migraine "I have been on Maxalt for about two years. It has always worked with just one pill. My only complaint about it was that it made me vomit. The pharmacist advised me to hold it in my mouth with milk till it dissolved, then swallow. This stopped the side effect. I only take it as a last-ditch effort to get rid of my headache after everything else has failed because my insurance only pays for 8 per month."

Rizatriptan for Migraine "I had my first migraine with vomiting at age 9. When I hit my 30s, suddenly they became worse. By age 40, they had become so severe they would last days at a time, and vomiting did not ease them anymore. In fact, once I began to vomit, I couldn't stop. I would puke up to 6-7 times an hour, for 12-72 hours, and would need an IV. Maxalt is amazing and almost always works. I take a preventative and a few other meds and usually need to combine at least 2 meds at once to stop them, but Maxalt is a valuable tool in my toolkit."
