Rizatriptan for Migraine "At 59 years of age, I have been suffering from migraines since I was 21. I think I have tried every medication available in the UK. Maxalt is the only thing that has ever worked for me. Pain usually gone after 20 minutes, before I took Maxalt, I could be in bed for 2 days rolling around in agony. Only side effects are tiredness, and strangely, it makes me sneeze just once as soon as I have taken it. Maxalt has completely changed my life. Fortunate to live in the UK as I get it free on a national health prescription."

Rizatriptan for Migraine "I had a horrible migraine for 4 days. I was throwing up from pain in my head and neck, weak, dizzy, blurred vision, and felt confused. I also couldn’t sleep. After taking Maxalt, within a couple of hours, I felt complete relief. I had some side effects of heavy limbs, trouble concentrating, and lethargy, but I also felt really calm and relaxed for the first time in days. I highly recommend."

Rizatriptan for Migraine "99% of the time, my migraine symptoms fade within an hour. I have had to take a second tablet only twice in ten years. I can function as normal. The only drawback is feeling tired and increased urination, but compared to going through a 36-hour migraine, that's nothing!"

Rizatriptan for Migraine "Maxalt helped with my migraines, however, the aftereffects left me depressed, with chest pains, a sore neck, achy all over, tired, and dizzy. I also found myself having to pee way more than normal, and it made me feel like I was dying, in a sense. I have a brain tumor and for sure thought it turned to cancer and spread through my body before realizing it was the meds. I haven't taken any in a few days and already feel so much better."

Rizatriptan for Migraine "If taken at the start of a migraine, this medicine works wonders. There are side effects such as dry mouth, tiredness, and joint aches. But, as anyone who has migraines knows, that is a small price to pay for relief from the migraine itself."

For Migraine "Made my pain worse, made me super anxious, tired, nonfunctional for the whole day. It also made me extremely hazy, with some of the worst brain fog I’ve ever had, and gave me some shortness of breath. Definitely do not recommend."

Rizatriptan for Migraine "Maxalt made me very, very ill. It was to replace Imitrex, which makes me ill too, but better than this any day! Dizzy, drowsy, nauseated, hot flashes, so tired I can't keep my eyes open and numb. My feet go numb and my hands. It's horrible, and the headache returns in about 5 hours. Do not recommend if you are sensitive to medications!"

Rizatriptan for Migraine "To me, this is the ONE medicine I cannot live without. I have had to try others due to insurance, and none comes even close! Within 15-30, even the strongest, wanting to smash my head-in migraine will be totally gone! No side effects for me either. Never makes me tired, groggy, or the medicated feeling. Taken on an empty stomach while in college class and had no problems finishing the class and going home to play with the kids and not the mom who was hiding in a dark room with no noise allowed in the house."

Rizatriptan for Migraine "Maxalt is a lifesaver. I have been using this med for 7 years. Most times, I have to take 2 pills within 24 hours. My problem is I wait and hope my headache won't turn into a migraine. Then, when it is a migraine, I take the pill. By then, it takes hours for the migraine and aura to break. The side effects I can deal with: tiredness, mild nausea, and some dizziness. I recommend Maxalt to anyone who can benefit from it."

For Migraine "I've had migraines for 30+ years, since I was a child. No med has ever stopped one, including hospital-injected opiates, and they last 3-5 days. NSAIDs and lots of ginger will reduce the pain a little. I've been trying rizatriptan for a few weeks, and it's promising! It doesn't 100% kill the migraine, but it greatly reduces it. That is absolutely a miracle for me. It is quite sedating, but that only lasts about 2 hours, and coffee helps (I don't think I would drive right after taking one). I do feel a bit tired the next day. Downside: it tastes so gross. Like cloyingly sweet toothpaste mixed with aspartame. Migraines make me nauseated, so I have to struggle to not throw up from the taste, but at least the meltable format means I can't throw it up as I often do with pills. I just wish the melts were unflavored and tasted like medicine. Also, aspartame is a known migraine trigger! I think that may be why it's only partially helpful for me. But overall, I'm hopeful."

Rizatriptan for Migraine "Maxalt is one of the only things that helps me with my migraines. I have had very good experiences, and it works 9/10 times. I do want to say, though, that I do have a few side effects from the medication. I get a very weak and tired feeling. Warm things also hurt me to touch, such as bath water or the steering wheel in the summer. It's just for a second, but it does happen. Also, one other weird thing is when I take my first couple of bites of food awhile after taking the medicine, my jaw will hurt. It goes away, but it's worth mentioning. Overall, I will choose the side effects 100% over the migraine, and I really like this medication."

For Migraine "This medication helped my migraines go away, but the side effects were not worth it. It made me extremely dizzy and tired. My head felt numb and tingly, and my jaw and tongue were sore, as if I had been chewing for hours. I took this medication twice, but it made me feel super weird, so I will never take this medication again."

For Migraine "Have had migraine for 33 years. Experienced first one after giving birth for the first time. Migraines are very severe, and symptoms include nonstop vomiting, lack of balance, loss of sensation, sensitivity to light, sound, etc. Rizatriptan works for a migraine attack which is not so severe. It has to be taken immediately. I usually lie down quietly for 20 minutes after taking it, and then it works. It does not completely get rid of the headache, but suppresses it. This allows you to get on with your day. It makes me very tired and makes my body feel heavy. Reactions are sometimes slower, so don't drive. If it does not work within 20-30 minutes, then it won't."

For Migraine "Well, I have been getting migraines for years. Back then, Fiorinal was my choice. I recently had a bad one. I don't get migraines too often, maybe 1 every few months. This time, after 2-3 days of having the migraine, I went to the doctor, and he prescribed Rizatriptan. I took one, and it helped a little. The next day, another 10 mg, and it sure helped a lot. The only side effect I had was tiredness, and I got acid reflux. I'm much better now. Thank you, doctor. Will see how it goes for now!!"

For Migraine "Works within 2 hours, but my migraine always returns the next day. I take the medication the next day - headache goes away within two hours - comes back the next day again. Medication works, but I feel extremely tired and depressed for three days. Insurance companies also limit me to 9 pills a month, which adds to my stress."

For Migraine "It works for me. I have been taking the generic for about 2 years. I find it works best when taken immediately when the headache starts. I take the orally disintegrating ones and place them under my tongue for quickest results. The only side effect for me is I get very tired; but still can work and function, which, as you know, cannot be said when you have a migraine!"

For Migraine "43-year-old female migraines since 2nd grade. Some are with aura, most are without. I get pain in my left scapula that eventually radiates into the base of my skull through to my left eye. If taken right away, I get almost total relief in 20-40 minutes. If I wait longer, it may take over an hour to work. Works over 90 percent of the time, averaging 12 headaches per month. Side effects for me are a tightening sensation in my neck (where the arteries are on either side), then a 'floaty' sensation. The pain goes away, and I'm left tired, yawning frequently and a little fuzzy-minded, but able to function much better than with the migraine. I've tried Imitrex, Zomig, Midrin, and RX pain relievers. Maxalt has worked by far the best for me."

For Migraine "I have suffered from migraines for at least 15 years and tried so many medications and therapies to help. Maxalt is the only thing that helps me. I have missed a day to three of work in a row from migraines and now do not have to miss any. It takes the pain away within an hour. I don't get any effects from the drug really, maybe a bit tired once in a while. My only complaint is the wafer tastes pretty gnarly, but it is worth it!"

For Migraine "I am 32, and since I was 28, I have been suffering very bad migraines due to damaging my neck and back. I can wake up with a bad migraine and tight, sore neck and shoulder muscles. I usually take Mersyndol Forte, but codeine leaves me feeling very tired and nauseated. Visits to the ER were a waste of time. My doc put me on Maxalt. I had low expectations as nothing else really worked. I was very pleasantly surprised...finally, some relief!! I'm on warfarin, so cannot take ibuprofen, aspirin, etc. I'm so happy to have found something! I wonder why I wasn't prescribed this sooner."

For Migraine "I've been having migraines twice a month for 3-4 days at a time each time. I was prescribed Maxalt 10 mg and tried using it last Friday at the onset of what was clearly another migraine. It cured it within 30 mins. It made me feel quite happy, but I slept for 2 hrs immediately. Then I felt so wobbly on my legs and quite high that I stayed in bed that evening. I did take another dose after 2 hrs which I think was not necessary, but the instructions told me to do so. Anyway, the next day I was lethargic and felt weird, wobbly, didn't want to do anything. Still feeling very odd - lacking in emotion and mildly depressed and lack of desire to do anything. I will use it again but only in emergencies, as listlessness isn't super fun - normally I feel normal at least when I don't have a migraine, now, a week of feeling weird and 'dead' emotionally. I am on Citalopram too, so possibly this is related. I can't really come off that as depression is for life for me, just the way it is."

Rizatriptan for Migraine "It worked wonders for my migraine, though I felt some chills and was really tired that day. But the next day I felt great, which would not be the case after a migraine attack (it was lasting for a few days)."

For Migraine "This drug was a nightmare for me. I'd just gotten out of the hospital and had bad headaches, so I was put on Maxalt 10 mg a day. It made me really confused, disoriented, anxious, agitated, dizzy, tired, and gave me bad rashes. I couldn't concentrate at work, had terrible memory problems, and lashed out in anger. I thought I was going crazy. It got so bad that at one point I thought I just wanted to die. I wasn't sure what the cause was, though, because I had also been put on other meds when I got out of the hospital. Then, after about 1.5 months of taking it daily, I started to try and wean off, taking a little less each day, hoping that it was the cause and I started feeling so much better. I felt like I had come out of a coma. I was thinking clearly again, my memory came back, I wasn't so agitated all the time, and my rashes faded. My headaches got worse, but I could at least live with that - what I couldn't live with was all the crazy side effects that made me go insane."

Rizatriptan for Migraine "Maxalt works. Sometimes I still feel a pounding in my head, but it doesn't hurt. Unfortunately, it does make me insanely tired, where I cannot stay awake. Thirty minutes after taking it, if I try to stay awake, I get woozy, can't walk straight, and can't talk well. Usually resolves after two hours, but most of the time I can't stay awake and sleep for those two hours instead. Usually takes another hour for the grogginess to go away. Makes it hard to take during work hours. I will also get soreness in my muscles, which makes it difficult to work out later in the day. But hey, it works and is better than nothing!"
