Prucalopride "This medication made me sick as heck! My GI told me to try it, and wow, my stomach is still having cramps on and off! I was vomiting, sweating, and cramping all at once! That’s alright, I’ll stick to Linzess."

Prucalopride "My daughter has autism and has had constipation all her life. She has always been on medication for her autism. Motegrity has her making complete bowel movements, but her behavior has become erratic. She is anxious and is having compulsive behaviors. I'm going to stop Motegrity for a few days and see how she acts. If her behavior improves, I know it's the Motegrity. A shame because it is helping her. I'm only giving her 1 mg."

Prucalopride "Motegrity does work, but the effect on me is harsh, and I have many side effects. I took 2 mg about six hours ago. It hit within 15 minutes. Since then, I have gone to the bathroom about 15 times. I didn't make it to the toilet a few times. I'm experiencing a racing heart, pounding headache, a jittery/shaky feeling, and intense nausea. I'm dizzy, weak, and achy. I take many other meds for other conditions, and for all I know, they've left my body. There's no way I could deal with this every day. Not sure if I'll try it again, definitely not anytime soon."

Prucalopride "Have SIBO, Crohn's, gastroparesis, and have been on Trulance for years with minimal help. My doctor put me on Motegrity. I took one pill last night, within 2 hours, I was in agony and then violently vomiting. It's the next day, and I feel horrible. I am so upset because I was praying it would work. I am so bummed."

Prucalopride "I have been on the following drugs: Xelnorm, Amitiza, and Linzess, which never helped. In 2018, I was diagnosed with connective disease, r/o Sjogrens and lupus. Yet, I was unable to have a BM at 3 weeks! I was always uncomfortable and felt sluggish. In September 2019, I was given Motegrity by a new gastroenterologist. This drug saved my life… after having 3 bowel blockages! This year, after now a year, I was getting Motegrity for $15.00 for a 30-day supply. I am a US Army veteran, and the VA will not pay for this drug because it is only in brand. This year, my civilian insurance dropped the medication, and I am now stuck paying $759.00 per month! After begging and pleading with our pharmacist, he gave it to me for $450.00! I do receive a very small pension but need this medication apparently for the rest of my life in order to do something everyone else does on their own. I cannot use the $15.00 savings card anymore because the test is billed to my insurance, which will not reimburse the pharmacy. HELP!"

Prucalopride "I'm on day 3 and so far it works great. Linzess and Trulance worked a week and stopped, so the jury is out for the long term. The only side effects I have experienced are mild dizziness and back pain. And one strange one, which may be the cause of the loss of appetite. Things that should not taste salty do. That started today. Grapes, French toast so far. I hope that goes away with time."

Prucalopride "I don't really suffer from constipation, but I have trouble emptying my bowels completely. Dr. prescribed Motegrity. I took it 3 days in a row. I didn't have the headache, vomiting, or other severe side effects described by other people, but I'm not going to continue taking it. I'm glad I was home the whole time. There was no warning about when it would kick in, and all of a sudden I had to rush into the bathroom. I didn't have a normal bowel movement. It gave me diarrhea, to the extent that I was just passing liquid at the end that I could not eliminate completely. So it seems that this medication is effective for some, but not everyone."

Prucalopride "In 2020, I was hospitalized for an intestinal blockage. At that time, they did not want to do surgery because it was a functional issue, so the protocol was NPO for several days. After I left the hospital, they put me on Motegrity 2 mg once a day. I’ve taken it for two years, and I’ve gained over 25 pounds. It does work in the beginning for motility, but then after a year it stopped really working. I don’t know why I bothered staying on it for as long as I did because the only thing that wound up happening is getting a tremendous amount of weight and becoming depressed from it."

Prucalopride "I was originally given Motegrity without trying the others because I had been following all the lifestyle advice typically given to start off. I had printouts of my daily meals, water consumption, fiber intake, macros. I was also already on a modified diet to avoid allergens. (I like data.) And it was clear movement for water like Linzess wasn’t going to do it. The first two months, I had to take it with Miralax, 1000 mg of magnesium, and senna at 8.6 mg? It took all four to go. I went every day, but it was explosive and miserable. So she reduced it down to 1 mg, and now things are manageable (every two days ish), but I’m constantly boiling. Y’all, I’m not at menopause age yet. I shouldn’t be sweating like this. But I’ve been in undershirts in 50-degree weather, and I sweat enough to completely stink in a few hours. I also regained all the sudden weight I lost prior to Motegrity in about two months (50 lbs, about 1/4 of my body). I'm also queasy all the time."

"I am a Registered/Licensed Clinical Dietitian/Nutritionist. S/P SIBO treatment with Xifaxin and Neomycin. Medical GI History: Viberzi for several years for IBS-D, stress, bloating, pain in left upper quadrant. Symptoms switched to IBS-C, flatulence, increase in body temperature, CIC, Non-Celiac Gluten Intolerance, SIBO (methane). Made adjustments to diet (higher fiber, gluten-free), increased hydration, Miralax, Mg Oxide, Stool Softener, Herbal Motility med (Ginger/Artichoke) with little result in motility. Tried Prucalopride 1mg first dose post meal. Symptoms included headache, bloating, diarrhea, abdominal pain, fatigue. Will report symptoms and results to GI prescriber. Plan to divide dose to 0.5mg per day."

Prucalopride "I have been on Motegrity for over a year, and it worked great for a while, lately, I have had problems with feeling jittery, anxious, and depressed. Feeling jittery and anxious is the worst. I have gastroparesis and am also on Famotidine, Promethazine, Lansoprazole, and Motilium, so it may be a combination or the Motegrity."

Prucalopride "After suddenly developing abdominal pain and infrequent BMs four years ago without consistent relief from diet changes or OTC products, or Amitiza and Linzess, I'm trying this (and one other which is less effective). This "worked" initially with soft and loose stool, lots of gas, and cramping. Added my OTC again, but ineffective. Tried the other sample drug, even less effective. Back on Motegrity, same experience and have concluded it's exacerbating neck and back pain to intolerable levels, possible wrist and ankle pain, fatigue, and the blues. Totally interfering with sleep. The only temporary relief I get is swimming or exercising."

"After a lengthy ordeal when my insurance wouldn't cover, I finally obtained Motegrity via the patient program. I had been using Senna and some Colace for my neurogenic bowel condition. Senna had/has been causing significant gastro discomfort and incomplete emptying has been a major problem. For my circumstance, Motegrity was an epic fail. Immediate lethargy, mental haze, constant urination, and even worse than these, it actually seemed to stall bowel activity even more. Candidly, my body interpreted it as poison. Not sure where I go from here, but it was wasted time and effort and quite discouraging."

Prucalopride "I was on Linzess for several months. It completely took away the abdominal pain, and for several weeks, I had severe diarrhea. Then, it settled down, and things seemed to improve, but a month later, I was having maybe 1 bowel movement a month. I switched to Motegrity, it's been 2 weeks of misery. Headaches every day, abdominal pain, and bowel movements are more frequent but painful. I'm so disappointed. I will stick it out for a while longer and hope it improves."

Prucalopride "Worked for 3 days and then back to constipation. Also seemed to not mix well with my anti-seizure drugs. My previous seizure drug had caused a particular type of seizure and depression. I haven't had those problems since I switched off that drug, but experienced both in the past week, so I am going to discontinue use."

"I've been taking this prucalopride for about 3 months for CIC. The first 2 months were without incident. I was having small bowel movements consistently each day and feeling fine. Then I was diagnosed with GERD, gastritis, and esophagitis. My stomach was hurting constantly, and I was always nauseated. Now, I'm down 14 pounds from the constant inability to eat and the nausea. I also have devastating fatigue and headaches. I thought this was all due to other factors, but after reading reviews, I'm thinking the Motegrity is causing the nausea, headache, and fatigue problem. Gonna stop taking it to see if I can get some relief and just work on the GERD and gastritis without constantly feeling like I need to puke."

Prucalopride "I have gastroparesis and have been taking Motegrity for two months now. I'm not really sure how it's supposed to work, I thought it would help relieve constipation and make it easier to go to the bathroom. I am suffering for up to 4 days not being able to have a bowel movement. My doctor thinks that I might have a lot of toxicity in my stomach, and I have to take a breathing test. I also suffer from headaches and did not realize until I read all the posts that headaches are common with this."

"I’ve had a lifetime of chronic severe constipation from Ehlers Danlos Hypermobility Syndrome and as well as Transverse Myelitis. I’ve been on daily senna, Linaclotide, as well as lactulose for over 10 years and still don’t feel my bowel emptying. And I have such a high fiber diet but still not enough relief. I tried prucalopride only for a day a few years ago when my health was bad and at the time couldn’t tolerate the headache. But this time I read reviews from other people which suggested drinking a coffee first thing in the morning to help with the headache, and after a couple of days it was really okay. I’ve been on 1mg for just a week and have been going to the toilet every day with just prucalopride and senna, giving up the other laxatives. It’s meant to take longer to work and I’m also supposed to go up to 2mg, but I’m very happy so far with the lack of side effects and also how well it’s working."

"I found it to be the most helpful out of all medications tried. My dose is 2 mg, it does not help with obstruction but with regular constipation, it is the first time in years I have had a fully formed soft stool. Make sure you eat before taking it. I did get very bad nausea taking it on an empty stomach."

"Started taking 2 mg Resolor 10 days ago before bed, and apart from a bad headache the first night/morning, no other side effects to date. Some improvement in natural bowel movement, but the consultant recommended 2 weeks before seeing results. Fingers crossed."

"I’ve had constipation since I was a child. Post-birthing two kids, at age 47, and as I enter perimenopause, it’s gotten notably worse. I have a diagnosed slow colon. The only thing that’s worked for me is Chinese herbs daily and acupuncture monthly. Cost prohibitive, though. Hopeful for this drug, but it steals my sleep, makes my teeth and head hurt, and makes me anxious and depressed when I take it for longer than a week. I have taken it two days in a row for relief, and I’m a mess. Anxious and sleepless. So, it’s not for everyone. Back to senna."

"It took around a week to get over the side effects. I’m on 1 mg of prucalopride and I experienced minor headaches (treated with coffee). After about 2 weeks, I started having multiple bowel movements, and things couldn’t be any better. I finally feel like I have a normal toilet life. I’ve read many reviews and feel like people who start off on 2 mg experience far worse side effects, but it’s extremely worth it once the side effects subside."

"I have tried a variety of medications. Lubiprostone (Amitiza) works the best, but it still wasn't enough. I also still use Miralax almost daily and a stool softener once or twice a week. Adding prucalopride to these has helped to give me regular, predictable bowel movements. I take 1/2 pill (1 mg) once a day or every other day. So I'm pleased with how it helps with constipation. But I am minimizing the dose because it affects me like an SSRI antidepressant, which I've been on before and really dislike. Like SSRIs, prucalopride increases serotonin, which is helpful in stimulating bowel contractions, but unfortunately also affects the brain. I feel spacey, emotionally vulnerable, anxious, and sometimes depressed. Prucalopride is not covered by my insurance, but I was able to obtain it affordably through an overseas pharmacy."

"I suffer from a range of gastro issues, alongside a damaged ileum intestinal valve due to an autoimmune disease. I have one of the most 'sluggish' bowels my GI doctor has ever seen. Managing my condition has always been difficult, diet can only do so much. Laxatives make me sick and ruin my gut. Then came prucalopride. It works without fail every time, and boy, does it work. It doesn't make me feel sick like other laxatives and doesn't cause that feeling of 'chemical gut.' It does, of course, cause some fluid swelling while it works. But once the 'deed is done,' I feel like a new person. I don't recommend taking it at night, however, personally, that causes some really uncomfortable stomach aches. You want to take it on an empty stomach or before food to have the best effect and to get it 'over and done with' so you can get on with your day (be near a toilet!)."

"I finally broke down and started taking 2 mg prucalopride every evening. I have tried everything natural for 25 years; fruits and veggies (live on spinach), a gallon of water a day, exercise, flaxseed (worked for a while), probiotics (also worked for a while and then you need more and more), and psyllium. Now, I supplement the 2 mg with probiotics and psyllium, and I go every day. I feel bad depending on something so strong. I hope it’s not bad for us?!"
