For Nausea/Vomiting "Just like all the others. I was given this plus Benadryl in the ER to treat headache and nausea. I soon wanted to claw out the IV, and I had this horrible sense of dread, like I was going to die. I couldn't think of anything but wanting to get out of that room. After getting home, I was terrified to be alone. Finally slept it off mostly after several hours. Still feel off and jumpy 12 hours later. Never taking this medication ever again."

For Anxiety "I ate some edibles that apparently had 300 mg of THC (yeah, terrible). I had a bad trip from it and suffered from an anxiety attack. The rest of that week, I was sleep-deprived and had tremors, also, my head was hurting, but it felt like it was in my brain. I went to the ER, and they gave me the headache cocktail with Topamax and Benadryl. That entire day was bad, I wanted to scratch through a wall and scratch off my face. I couldn't sit still without feeling all kinds of weird nerves throughout my body. It has been 3 days, and I feel like myself somewhat now. However, I have this weird tingling sensation in my brain whenever I fall asleep or wake up. 1/10 would not recommend. And yes, I also suffered anxiety. I couldn't drive for the first 3 days without being scared, nor could I sleep alone or even be alone."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Given Compazine with Benadryl and wow, the Compazine caused a bad reaction! Felt like a 100+ worst nightmare from anxiety! Nurse seemed uncaring and didn't know this causes those side effects! This will go on my med list and I will stick with my Zofran. Still feel bad some 12+ hours later. Never again. I can relate to the others!"

For Anxiety "Couldn't stop a migraine due to spinal stenosis. Went into ER and my blood pressure was super high. They gave me Compazine to help stop nausea and vomiting. It felt like I wanted to jump out of bed. Lasts a few days where it's just a really bad anxious feeling I had never had before. I never want to experience that again."

For Anxiety "Please beware! All bad reviews about Compazine are true. I went to the ER for dizziness and chest pains. The doctor said she was going to give me something for anxiety. The nurse came in and gave me Compazine through IV. She forced it really fast so she could send me for an X-ray on my chest. She left, and within a matter of seconds, I felt a wave of heat in my body. I started taking the IV out and the blood pressure cuff off. I ran to the restroom looking for a window to jump out of. I started yelling, calling the nurse and asking, 'What did you do to me?' I have never felt like this before in my life. She called the doctor, they gave me Benadryl to try to reverse it. Two weeks later, I was still experiencing extreme anxiety and had never had anxiety before."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have cystic fibrosis, so I am constantly in and out of the hospital and have been through various drugs throughout my life. I struggle with severe anxiety, panic attacks, and OCD. I was admitted for routine IV antibiotics, and the meds made me extremely nauseous. I was given Zofran, and that didn't help, so they decided to give me Compazine. The nurse injected this drug into my port, and the effects were instant. I felt anxious, jumpy, and thought I was going crazy. My room was so small, which made it worse, and I was pacing around, ready to pass out. I thought I was going to have to be admitted into the psych ward. I rang my nurse and let her know what was happening, and she had me lay down, my legs started shaking uncontrollably. She got the doctor, and that's where my legs started locking in place and I couldn't move them. They pumped me full of Benadryl and Ativan to calm me down. It took a good 24 hours to feel relief, this induced severe PTSD from this experience."

For Anxiety "I went to the ER due to having a headache, and it caused my anxiety to shoot through the roof, my speech garbled, and my arm felt numb. I have severe health anxiety. Got to the hospital and they decided it was giving me a migraine cocktail. The cocktail included Compazine. I have never in my life felt the way I have since taking this drug. I wanted to run away, and that was on Sunday. It's Thursday, and my anxiety is still through the roof. I would have much rather dealt with the headache and all the other symptoms than to feel like I do right now. This drug should never be given to anyone ever."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given the migraine cocktail (Benadryl, Compazine, Toradol) in the ER after suffering off and on for weeks from headaches. After my MRI came back clear is when they gave me this through IV. I felt like I was going to jump right out of my skin, it was awful. I'm lucky that this feeling lasted only 15 minutes, it worked, but to me, that anxiety it caused is not worth it! If I have to ever be seen for that again, I will be steering clear of that mixture!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "This did take away my nausea, but it also made my heart pound and made me extremely irritable and anxious for about 20 hours. Even with a Benadryl, I couldn’t sit still for about 10 hours after taking it, and I had lingering anxiety 10 hours after that. I had a similar experience with Reglan, and the ER doc I saw said they are similar drugs. I would say if Reglan gives you a reaction, there’s a good chance this will too. It did its job, but I would have taken the nausea over the anxiety any day."

For Anxiety "Please do not take this medication. I went to the ER for a week-long migraine. They gave me this along with something else. I can’t take Benadryl, so I refused that. Minutes after it was put in my IV, my heart was in the 140s for hours (I already suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and was already nervous). Mind you, I’m on metoprolol as well, which lowers your heart rate, and even that didn’t bring it down. I was restless to the point of insanity, scared, anxious, and alone, and had a panic attack. I had to call the nurse who sat with me while I was having a full-blown panic attack. He was great, thankfully. After discharge, the panic, fear, and restlessness lasted hours. I couldn’t be alone because I was so scared. I am also sensitive to medication and refuse a lot of stuff due to a bad prior experience with something. This is why I do not trust anything anymore. This drug was horrible, and I recommend you DO NOT take this drug ever."

For Anxiety "I went to the ER yesterday for a migraine. Was given Compazine. It gave me the worst panic attack of my life. I couldn’t stop moving. I felt like I needed to tear the skin off my body. I was screaming. I wanted to rip out my IV and blood pressure cuff. Struggling to maintain control of my body/thoughts, I lied and told them the headache was gone and to discharge me immediately or I would leave on my own. Told the nurse I wasn’t okay. She said, “The Compazine does that sometimes, but it will pass.” It didn’t pass. It hasn’t passed. I have never felt so uncomfortable. Today, I feel like my skin is crawling. I can’t sit still, can’t sleep, or lay down. I can’t focus, and every part of my body just feels off. I’ve been desperately calling any medical professional I can think of to get help/relief. I refuse to go back to the ER. I would take a severe migraine any day over how I’m feeling right now. I already suffer from depression and anxiety, and this has thrown me into a tailspin."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER for a severe atypical migraine. They gave me Compazine via my IV along with Benadryl to prevent a side effect. After receiving it, I have never been so restless in my life. I couldn’t stop moving and squirming. My husband thought I was going mad. It did help when they gave me additional Benadryl, but I still couldn’t sit still or sleep. I felt like ripping my IV out. It was like I was a fish out of water flipping around. I had to get an MRI, and I wasn’t able to sit still for that, so they did give me Ativan, which eventually helped some more by knocking me out, but I still felt uneasy before it put me to sleep and when I woke up as well. It’s now been two days, almost three, and I’m still feeling like I can’t relax or sit still, which is making it hard to sit at work. I will never take this again and am having it added to my chart as an adverse/allergic reaction."

For Anxiety "Went to the hospital after throwing up blood and was given Compazine. I specifically asked for Phenergan (can’t have Zofran), and this Compazine was the worst drug I’ve been given. I immediately felt intense anxiety and wanted to leave. Ended up ripping out my IV myself and running out. I felt like my life was over. I’m still anxious 24 hours later. I would highly recommend avoiding this med. I’m angry that anxiety is documented in my charts and they didn’t warn me of side effects. I have severe medical trauma already. I was also given the pill form for about a week before, and I didn’t realize it was causing major anxiety. Absolutely horrible, I can’t believe this happens so often."

For Anxiety "I went to the ER for a post-lumbar puncture headache and was given a Toradol, Benadryl, and Compazine cocktail. As soon as the Compazine went in, I immediately started shaking and couldn’t stay still. It’s like I was fighting myself inside. I couldn’t figure out why I was so jittery. I kept making excuses to get up and move. I wanted to take my IV out and leave. I’m home after 5 hours, and I still can’t rest. I’ve had both Benadryl and Toradol plenty of times, so I knew it wasn’t those. I just took 2 Benadryl to try and calm down enough to sleep. Man, I will never try that again. I had no idea it would do that! I regret every second of it! I’d rather have the headache and nausea. Bad drug!"

For Anxiety "I went to the ER Saturday night after a terrible migraine. The pain was so bad, nothing was helping. Vomiting too. They finally admitted me and gave me Toradol, Compazine, both through an IV. Within 10 minutes, I felt like I was panicking. I couldn't sit still. I just wanted to run out. I had to get a CT scan, and I just wanted to run out! It was so scary and so weird, I thought it was just me, but after reading the side effects, I see how 'normal' and frequent it is. Once I was on my way home, anxiety persisted. I took a quick shower and went to sleep. Thankfully, I was able to fall asleep because I was so drowsy, but I basically slept the entire next day. Anxiety lasted about 24 hours. They gave me a prescription for this medication, I will NEVER take this medicine as long as I live. It was TERRIBLE!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I’m sure this drug does work for some people, but as for the majority of us, it is a nightmare. When I was pregnant with my last child, I vomited several times a day, and in the end, I only managed to gain 14 pounds. I was very ill. Compazine was one of the few drugs that they can offer pregnant women. After I took the first pill, my nausea subsided. In its place, I had the worst anxiety that I have ever experienced. I couldn’t keep still. I wanted to just escape from my body, but of course, I knew it was the pill, and I just paced and wrung my hands until it wore off. I decided after that I would rather deal with the vomiting for the rest of my pregnancy. Fast forward 20 years. Since my encounter with Compazine, I made certain that I always had it listed with all of my physicians, right after shellfish as something I was allergic to and should never be given. I was given some in an IV since then and had the same issues."

For Nausea/Vomiting "They gave it to me to help with the anxiety and nausea from being in severe pain and the like. It felt like I was going crazy, couldn’t sit still, groggy but restless and antsy, pulling on my hair, wanting to throw things and rip my IV out. Benadryl didn’t help. Ativan did. Now, after 6 or so hours, I’ve only got a smidge of grogginess now."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given this medication in an IV along with Benadryl for a migraine. It made me feel anxious. It was still pretty subtle, and I was able to hide the reaction from drs. At the time, I just thought it was me feeling that way because I was visiting the dr a lot. But I thought it was strange I suddenly felt that way after the meds were pushed. I just didn’t realize a medication could make you feel that way. It made me want to rip my IV out and run out of the hospital. I remember the room was also a little cold, and that made me agitated. I just had a hard time sitting still. I followed up with a nurse a few days after when they tried to give me Compazine again, and I told her about my experience, and she said it was definitely the Compazine that I was feeling. It did help my pain though... But I won’t be taking it again."

My heart started racing, I felt like my chest was on fire, and I was super anxious. I took off my cuff and almost ripped out my IV. I was walking around the room like I was crazy. They discharged me, and I was not able to sleep. I felt off that day, and I ended up going back to the ER, and they gave me Benadryl so I could sleep. It helped me sleep, but I woke up and still feel jittery. It’s now 37 hours since I got Compazine, and I’m still not 100% myself."

"I went to the ER with a spinal headache after a lumbar puncture. This medication was given with Benadryl, and it made me flip out. As the nurse gave me Compazine, I felt my ability to speak leave my body, and I couldn’t keep my mind on track. At first, it was great and really knocked the headache back. Then, the crazies started. I was tossing and turning, I couldn’t get comfortable. I felt like I wanted to run naked down the halls screaming. I started to panic and ended up sending my mom to get the doctor. It was this fear of panic and dread, all I could think was how long it would last. Initially, I refused any more medications because I was so scared. They ended up adding Cogentin after talking me down, which knocked me out because I was so upset. Not a great experience."

"Got given a migraine cocktail which contained Compazine, for a severe migraine. Immediate panic attack and the lasting effects have been heart palpitations and extreme difficulty sleeping. Doctors had to give me a sedative and flush out the Compazine just so I could keep myself from damage due to sleep deprivation, but there's still traces of it in my system days later and my heart is still racing and I feel terribly anxious. I would recommend anyone getting a migraine cocktail to ask for one without Compazine. It could affect you very, very badly."
