For Anxiety "I went to the ER twice for migraines, and both times they gave me Compazine. The worst experience of my life. I felt like I was going to tear the walls down, I just wanted to tell everyone to shut up. I couldn’t stand the noise or the talking. I couldn’t even stand my phone ringing, and me having to answer, I didn’t even want to text. Now I suffer from severe anxiety, and I have never felt so restless, agitated, and anxious. I thought I was going to pull my hair out. Since I drove myself to the ER, I had to drive myself back, which I made it home, but while home, I wanted to just jump out of my window. I took one Benadryl, and it didn’t help, it just made me feel more restless. I had to take Ativan, and it helped to the point where I was able to sleep, but even in my sleep, I was jittery and still a bit anxious, shaking. My husband doesn’t believe me, and it is hard to explain, but now that I read these stories, I know now I’m allergic to Compazine."

For Nausea/Vomiting "It's been 2 weeks and I am still feeling the terrible side effects (pacing, tremors, etc). For those of you that have posted previously, can you please provide updates on how long it took to feel like yourself again? I need some hope that this will go away. :("

For Nausea/Vomiting "Another horror story about Compazine. I went to the ER with a migraine and neck pain that would not break. The doctor gave me their “migraine cocktail” and a few minutes later, I started shaking. I struggle with anxiety and was obviously upset because of the headache, so at first, I thought that was it. However, as time went on, I got more and more agitated. I couldn’t sit still or stop moving my legs. I wanted to rip out my IV and leave! I even tried to disconnect it a few times. Eventually, I just sat there, crying and rocking back and forth on my bed like I was going crazy. I told the doctor how I was feeling, and she said it was common. She gave me some Ativan which helped after 2 or 3 hours. I’m so thankful I was able to sleep after that. What a terrifying experience. I will be putting this on my allergy list. Please check before you get a “migraine cocktail!”"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I went into the ER for a really bad migraine and vomiting. They gave me Benadryl and Compazine. Within three minutes, I had the worst panic attack of my life. My anxiety was through the roof. I unhooked myself from everything that I could and tried to get my IV out and demanded that I be let go, thinking I would feel better when I got home. I have not slept in over 24 hours. I'm now on day 2, and I still want to crawl out of my skin. I can't stop shaking and crying. I want to crawl out of my skin or run away to get away from this feeling. I'm also shaky, and anytime I think I'm about to fall asleep, I get weird sadistic images that wake me up right away before I'm even all the way asleep. I don't know why this drug is legal. I hope people read these reviews and please don't let any doctor give you this medication-the worst feeling of my life."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was in and out of the ER due to migraines, and on the last day, they gave me a prescription of Compazine. The next day when I took it, I laid down to take a nap and woke up struggling to breathe. My throat was closing, and I could barely talk. I went into a full-blown panic attack and called the ambulance. They gave me three different shots of something I can't remember and rushed me to the hospital. My jaw felt locked, like I was clenching my teeth hard together by the time I got to the hospital. I was shaking uncontrollably and crying hysterically. After I was discharged, I came home and chugged some children's Benadryl and took some Xanax and felt the side effects slowly go away. I have never in my life felt so scared."

For Nausea/Vomiting "This was the most awful medicine I have ever had. I thought I was going to die, my heart rate went up to 180. I couldn't be still. I tried ripping my IV out, and when I told the nurse, she laughed and said, 'Just calm down, you're fine.' It was horrible. It's been 3 days, and I'm still having panic attacks, muscle twitches all the time. This medicine has ruined my life, please do not take this."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I've never experienced anxiety, I don't take any medication for anxiety, but thanks to this drug, I had my first panic attack. I went to the ER for extreme nausea due to painkillers given to me to alleviate the pain of some kidney stones. Right after being given this medication, I started feeling jittery and like I couldn't breathe. Ten minutes later, I wanted to rip out my own IV, my entire body was shaking and was having facial contractions. The doctor laughed it off, saying I was being overly dramatic and I just needed to breathe. It was the worst experience I've ever had, and I thought the kidney stones were bad enough. Three days later, and I'm finally starting to feel like myself again. I will never take this drug again and have no idea why it's still on the market."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER with a migraine, and I got this through an IV. I was totally fine and all happy until this drug hit me. I went completely insane. I got claustrophobic, I wanted to kill myself, I started twitching, and I got super anxious. They gave me some Benadryl, which helped, so they sent me home. On the way home, it happened again, and it kept happening all night, even after I kept taking Benadryl. The only time I felt not insane was when I was sleeping, but I was still having weird dreams. The next morning, I woke up, and I was still really anxious, but the serious side effects went away. For 2 more days, I still felt anxious, and it was the worst thing ever. Everyone told me this was really rare, and I don't think any of the people there at the ER really knew what was going on. This is a scary drug. I just wanted to share my story."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given Compazine along with Tramadol via IV at the ER to help treat a bad migraine. As soon as they put it in my IV, I wanted to rip it out and leave. My mom was with me, and I stayed a few more hours until my bloodwork came back. I finally got discharged and just wanted to go home and sleep, but of course I couldn’t. I was jittery and shaky. I was pacing back and forth in my room. I couldn’t sit still. I can’t find the words to describe exactly what I felt, but I basically felt so uncomfortable and like I was going insane at the same time. I went back, and they gave me Benadryl, which did absolutely nothing. Luckily my mom had some leftover Lorazepam, which finally gave me some relief and allowed me to sleep. It took 2 days for the worst of it to wear off, but now, 6 days later, I still don’t feel 100% back to normal yet. I will never take this medication ever again, and I hope it gets taken off the market soon. I hope no one else ever has to experience what I did."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Worst medication! About 9 years ago, when I was in high school, I caught mono and was vomiting a few times when my mother took me to an ER/urgent care. They gave me an IV with Compazine and a prescription for home. It wasn't until maybe the second day I couldn't move my muscles. I had ZERO movement in my body and could barely walk or get dressed. Nothing. I constantly shook like I was having a seizure. I couldn't sleep for an entire week! Let alone sit still. It was constant anxiety. It's like I lost all ability to relax. It was a living hell. When I went back to the urgent care, the lady literally told me it was mono. I went home and continued to take this medication, not knowing I had a severe allergic reaction. Finally, I went back again and got a doctor who actually knew what was going on! He told me to stop taking Compazine ASAP. People get PERMANENT damage from this! It took over a month for this to leave my system, and until this day, the anxiety is still there."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Do NOT use Compazine!! I went to the ER for a severe migraine that lasted a week. They put me on Compazine, and within just a few minutes, I was shaking uncontrollably, couldn’t keep still, and had extreme anxiety, like if I didn’t leave the hospital RIGHT AWAY, my entire life would just go down the toilet. This was the only time I ever ripped out an IV. I called the nurse in, and I could only mumble “Oh God, what did you do to me” over and over again. After some of these other reviews, I count myself lucky that my symptoms only lasted a single night and the migraine did go away. But still, I will never take it again!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER with nausea, they gave me Compazine immediately. I felt hot and restless. I freaked out, they moved me from the hallway to a room where I became restless and angry. My jaw locked up, and I was shaking uncontrollably. My heart raced, and I felt like I was gonna die. My symptoms lessened after about 8 hours, where I slept off and on. I went to a different ER, and they gave me a small dose of Ativan, but it didn’t make me feel any better. The next day, I still feel panicky, and my heart feels weird, and the shaking comes and goes. I also have horrible diarrhea. Worst experience of my life."

For Nausea/Vomiting "It is absolutely horrible. I went into the ER yesterday with a bad headache on one side. They wanted to give me some cocktail that included Compazine and Benadryl combined. I said no. I should have done my research on Compazine prior to getting it intravenously. The worst mistake of my life. I had shakes, anxiety, which I don't have, the worst dry mouth of my life, that I almost choked on my sugar pill. I felt like it had been out in the desert for a year. I could not keep my mouth moist fast enough. It has been almost 24 hours, and I'm still not back to 100 percent yet. That drug is toxic. I would never, I don't care how much pain I'm in, ever take that drug."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was talking to my sister about my bad reaction to a medication I took 15 years ago called Compazine. I took this prescribed medicine while at home. I remember my experience like it was yesterday. At first, I felt a twitching in my jaws. All at once, my bottom jaw started going to the right, and my top jaw started going to the left. I could not stop it, and I could not talk. In fact, my jaw felt like it was trying to break off my face. I remember the emotional and physical pain. My husband and I were both crying because we both didn't understand what was happening! My husband ended up taking me to another clinic, and they admitted me at once. So BEWARE! Just from talking - I found out this same medication hurt my sister just last year."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was first given Compazine orally for anxiety and nausea. It did not appear to have any side effects. A year later, I was hospitalized following surgery and was extremely nauseous, so after giving me Zofran to no avail, they gave me Compazine IV. It burned going into my arm. I became very agitated and restless, my body could not stop shaking, and I felt like I was going to jump out of my skin. Luckily, they gave me Benadryl, and that helped calm me down a bit, but it took a couple of days to feel myself again. Will never take IV again."

"Went to E.R. for a migraine I had for 4 days. The doctor gave me a “migraine cocktail” with Compazine. I have natural anxiety, and I asked them to use another medication. He said there was nothing else he could give me because they would interfere with the medication I’m normally on. It’s 24 hours on, and I’m home from E.R. and I’m still having jitters. I suggest if anyone has any type of anxiety or psychological issues, do not take this medication. It’s awful!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "Went to the ER for migraine and Lyme disease joint pain. I was given Compazine and immediately had a dystonic reaction!! My whole jaw locked up and my body was twitching and restless legs. The doctor ordered Benadryl stat, and eventually, the symptoms slowed down. They kept me overnight due to the reaction I had. I will never ever have this drug again. Everywhere I go, I say I’m highly allergic to Compazine (prochlorperazine). Be careful with this drug."

For Anxiety "I ate some edibles that apparently had 300 mg of THC (yeah, terrible). I had a bad trip from it and suffered from an anxiety attack. The rest of that week, I was sleep-deprived and had tremors, also, my head was hurting, but it felt like it was in my brain. I went to the ER, and they gave me the headache cocktail with Topamax and Benadryl. That entire day was bad, I wanted to scratch through a wall and scratch off my face. I couldn't sit still without feeling all kinds of weird nerves throughout my body. It has been 3 days, and I feel like myself somewhat now. However, I have this weird tingling sensation in my brain whenever I fall asleep or wake up. 1/10 would not recommend. And yes, I also suffered anxiety. I couldn't drive for the first 3 days without being scared, nor could I sleep alone or even be alone."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have cystic fibrosis, so I am constantly in and out of the hospital and have been through various drugs throughout my life. I struggle with severe anxiety, panic attacks, and OCD. I was admitted for routine IV antibiotics, and the meds made me extremely nauseous. I was given Zofran, and that didn't help, so they decided to give me Compazine. The nurse injected this drug into my port, and the effects were instant. I felt anxious, jumpy, and thought I was going crazy. My room was so small, which made it worse, and I was pacing around, ready to pass out. I thought I was going to have to be admitted into the psych ward. I rang my nurse and let her know what was happening, and she had me lay down, my legs started shaking uncontrollably. She got the doctor, and that's where my legs started locking in place and I couldn't move them. They pumped me full of Benadryl and Ativan to calm me down. It took a good 24 hours to feel relief, this induced severe PTSD from this experience."

For Anxiety "I went to the ER for a post-lumbar puncture headache and was given a Toradol, Benadryl, and Compazine cocktail. As soon as the Compazine went in, I immediately started shaking and couldn’t stay still. It’s like I was fighting myself inside. I couldn’t figure out why I was so jittery. I kept making excuses to get up and move. I wanted to take my IV out and leave. I’m home after 5 hours, and I still can’t rest. I’ve had both Benadryl and Toradol plenty of times, so I knew it wasn’t those. I just took 2 Benadryl to try and calm down enough to sleep. Man, I will never try that again. I had no idea it would do that! I regret every second of it! I’d rather have the headache and nausea. Bad drug!"

For Anxiety "I went to the doctor's May 23rd, 2022. I was seen at the ER at the hospital. I went for head pressure, and I told them I haven’t been feeling like myself lately. So they took me back and gave me this, and they told me they were giving me a little Benadryl to take the pressure away from my head. But the whole time they gave me Benadryl and Compazine without me knowing. So 10 minutes later, the meds started kicking in really fast. I got really hot and started panicking, ready to jump out of the bed and run away. The nurse came in laughing, asking me if I felt like my skin was leaving my body. I told her yes and started crying. She was like, 'You're fine,' and put a cold napkin around my neck. I still was panicking, ready to pull my hair out. Hours later, when it was time for me to leave, I told them I felt like I was going to open the car door on the way home. So they kept me a little longer and gave me another IV to help drain the meds out of me. I still was shaky and anxious, and I couldn’t stop moving. I felt like I was losing my mind."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I've had Compazine a few times due to suffering from severe migraines. It's never pleasant, but I was trying to make it to a shift at work, so I asked if I could have the migraine cocktail without whatever makes you so tired (Benadryl). I quickly learned this was a huge mistake. After they put this in my IV, I started shaking uncontrollably and could barely stay in bed. The shaking and spasms quickly became painful, and it did not help with the nausea at all because I threw up a few minutes after receiving it. I had pressed the call nurse button before the vomiting and asked for literally anything to stop whatever was happening. They gave me some Benadryl through the IV, which did help somewhat, however, I'm sure it was just because they gave me enough to knock me out. My review doesn't even come close to describing how God awful this medication actually is. If you're ever offered this for nausea, ask for something else or just throw up, I promise it's better than taking this."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given Compazine in the ER. I had a headache, but I was more concerned about the eye pain and facial spasms. The nurse came in and administered the 'migraine cocktail' all at once. It hit me HARD. My body was on fire, and I couldn't stop moving. I asked if it was normal for it to hit people so fast, he said yes. He made it seem like I was overreacting, though. As soon as he walked out of the room, I started seeing flashing stars. It felt as if I was jumping off the bed/convulsing. I kept telling myself to just go to sleep but couldn't. I started crying as silently as I could because I was scared and embarrassed. I eventually fell asleep for a half hour. Woke up to them talking to me. I was still shaking and mentally out of it. Discharge felt like an eternity. I went home and slept forever. The day lingered, and I experienced a worse headache, muscle spasms, locked wrist, and an auditory hallucination. It is day three, and I still feel weird. I wish they could have warned me of side effects."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Goodness me, I went for extreme abdominal pain and nausea with vomiting and was given this since Zofran did not work at home prior to my arrival. I was already somewhat concerned as my partner had been given Compazine as part of a migraine cocktail and had the worst panic attack of their life. They administered it to them right into the arm; however, mine was being put through the IV saline bag as a slow drip, so I wasn't that worried; I figured it would infuse slow enough it wouldn't bother me. Boy, was I wrong. About 5-10 minutes later, I was so warm and overheated, my hands went numb as I began to panic for what seemed like no reason. I was full-on shaking and hyperventilating, as well as feeling trapped and somehow more nauseated than before. The initial panic lasted maybe 15 minutes, but I felt on edge for the rest of the day and like I was still fighting off a panic attack."

"I am so annoyed at my doctor for not telling me he was going to give me this drug. I was supposed to get morphine, so I was getting the injection, and I asked the nurse if it was my morphine injection, and she said he changed it to Compazine and Benadryl. Too late. The drugs were administered. I told the nurse I have an extreme sensitivity reaction to Compazine. Two days later and I am in bed at home at 11 pm, still shaking and unable to sleep. Better, but still extremely uncomfortable. I had Compazine 35 years ago, and it was bad, and it still is bad."
