Pregabalin for Fibromyalgia "I am 37 with multiple illnesses, fibromyalgia, diabetes, arthritis, and schizophrenia being the top 4. My doctor put me on 300 mg of Lyrica 3 times a day. Initially, it stopped my severe symptoms of fibromyalgia. I began to have sleeplessness, which became 3 hours of sleep every other night. My legs from knee down began to tingle, then it felt like worms crawling in them. I had fuzzy vision, and then 60 voices came out in my head, very loud and clear. My doctor refused to stop Lyrica, I stopped taking it, and within a month, the side effects disappeared."

Pregabalin for Fibromyalgia "Diagnosed with fibromyalgia 19 yrs ago, no pain medicines until 5 yrs ago. Electro-acupuncture is great, but hard to find/afford. Heating pads aren't therapeutic, I sleep on 4 ice packs (I know, eeww, but whatever works). They help with inflammation, try them. Lyrica gave me agonizing, shooting pains from deep within shoulder and hip joints down humerus and femur, and unwelcome 35 lb weight gain, and blurry vision that meant I couldn't drive. Lyrica was useless for me, so glad you all have something to fight this fibromyalgia."

Pregabalin for Fibromyalgia "Been on Lyrica for 6 months now. 100 mg 2x daily. Has worked great for pain relief. Side effects for me include dizziness and blurred vision. Have tried to change to Savella to see if the same relief would happen without side effects, but after 3 days off Lyrica, I started to feel really bad. No weight gain, but I do stay very active."

Pregabalin for Fibromyalgia "I have had FMS for 4 years, but was not officially diagnosed until 1 year ago. Since that time, I have taken several medications. My doctor and I are trying to find which drug or combination of drugs will help. I took Lyrica for 5 months and had some serious side effects: 40 lbs weight gain, swelling in my hands, feet, and ankles, and blurred vision. I was not pain-free, and the cost per month was half of my rent."

Pregabalin for Neuropathic Pain "I suffer from Complex Regional Pain Syndrome after I rolled an ATV and crushed my right leg. I have significant nerve damage from the accident. I started taking Lyrica ($350/mo) and started to notice a decrease in my constant leg pain. About 6 months after starting Lyrica, I started to get restless leg syndrome in both legs (literally, my legs were jumping off of the bed) and my hands began to twitch. My memory was slowly fading, and my vision became blurry. I stopped taking Lyrica when I found out that the symptoms could become permanent. Lyrica withdrawal is awful. It's like having the flu x 1000. Nasty stuff."

For Peripheral Neuropathy "I have been on Lyrica 150 mg twice daily 3 years ago. I was tired and had blurry vision. My dose was reduced to 75 mg twice daily, and it worked very well to relieve the throbbing pains in my feet, muscle aches in my legs, and sciatica pain, which originally started after L4/L5 spinal surgery 3 years ago. On the 75 mg twice daily dose, I had minimal side effects (bloating, etc.). My doctor put me on a Transtec (Buprenorphine) patch and changed my Lyrica to 75 mg once a day, and it was wonderful because I was almost pain-free for the first time in 3 years. Unfortunately, recently, the Transtec patch was removed from being covered by my insurance and is very expensive to buy. Now I am back to Lyrica 75 mg twice a day, and it isn't as good as when used in combo with the Transtec patch, but it is the next best thing."

Pregabalin for Neuropathic Pain "I took this for 2 days at the end of a benzo taper to help with hopefully a soft landing for stopping altogether. First night was okay and helped with sleep. 2nd day, I felt uncomfortably intoxicated. Vision was blurred, decreased motor coordination, could not find words. In hindsight, probably should not have driven to work, and I'm fortunate I had a project to work on away from others that day. Because I felt like a lunatic. Anyway, it took about 3 full days to return to baseline. Obviously, with all meds, your mileage may vary. This one wasn't/isn't for me."

For Neuropathic Pain "This is a horrible drug. It's a drug of dependence, very addictive! My side effects were weight gain, dry mouth, blurred vision, loss of libido, you name it, I have it. I take 900 mgs a day, and it can make me moody! It's friggin' awful! I do not recommend!"

For Neuropathic Pain "This was prescribed for neuralgic pain, as a disc below my cervical fusion is degrading. The pain is reduced, but the unwanted effects outweigh the benefits. Severe brain fog (I've had a brain tumor removed), horrible muscle and joint pain, and blurred vision. Spine so painful, I can't even swim, and walking hurts too. This all started a few weeks after the first dose. It might work for some, but not for me. 50 mg b.d., minimal dose only, as sensitive to meds."

For Neuropathic Pain "Please do not go near this horrid stuff. I took pregabalin for nerve pain from shingles and it worked great until I had the side effect of losing my balance with blurred vision. The next day, tunnel vision, and realized I was very numb in the head, almost zombie-like. So please find another safer med for your condition. No more for me. It scared the heck out of me."

For Neuropathic Pain "I was bitten by my cat on my right hand in 2017; it led to sepsis. I had 16 operations to rid the infection. I developed a condition called CRPS (chronic regional pain syndrome); a condition involving the misfiring of nerves; rated the most painful medical condition on record. I have no function or mobility of my right hand and am now disabled. The debilitating pain is 24/7. I also have major depression, GAD, PTSD, a rare painful skin condition (HS), migraines, and POS. I take/use Fentanyl, Morphine, Sertraline, Pizotifen, Omeprazole, Trazodone, and Pregabalin. All of these medications give me unwanted side effects: memory loss, constipation, weight gain, blurry vision, dizziness, foggy-headedness, disconnection, confusion, insomnia, and twitching. Any side effect to me is worth having to receive a bit of respite from agonizing pain."

For Neuropathic Pain "About 2 years ago, my pain became worse and I was told to give pregabalin another try and started again at 50 mg twice a day. I'm now taking 200 mg, but I'm meant to take it twice a day. However, I found the side effects to be so strong for me that I reduced it to 200 mg once a day. I was very tired, dizzy, blurred vision, and flickering eyes, and I have children to take care of, so me being like this really isn't practical. My side effects have reduced now, but it took about 2 1/2 weeks to get used to it. I have become very bloated in the stomach and it won't go down, which makes me feel very uncomfortable indeed. When I take the 200 mg pregabalin, it does reduce the nerve pain and has gotten rid of the fire burning in my coccyx and bladder, and nerve pain down my legs and in my hips, so I'm in a Catch-22. If I stop, I really don't think I could handle that pain again, and now I'm used to the morning dose. I have to think about starting to take the evening dose and build that back up so I can sleep through the night again."

For Neuropathic Pain "I have a cyst growing between my 4L and 5L, sitting on a bundle of nerves. Found after an MRI. I also have degenerative arthritis in my spine. I started with 25 mg three times a day, it didn't do much at all. Then I was put on 75 mg at bedtime, again not much relief. Now I'm on 75 mg twice daily and 25 mg as needed. I also take 2 extra-strength Tylenol three times daily. Needless to say, I'm in La-La Land. My speech is slurred, I'm tired all the time, and my memory sucks. I have the shakes if I wait too long to take my medication. I have some jerking movements and blurred vision. I'm afraid to cut back on my meds, and I'm having back surgery next month. So I will get back to you on my results with that. Surgery is my last-ditch effort."

For Neuralgia "I had lumbar decompression surgery in July for a herniated disk (L4, L5) and spinal stenosis. A week after the surgery, the nerve in my left leg and foot 'woke' up, and the pain was severe. My left foot was constantly burning, with feelings of electric shock 24 hours a day. I couldn't wear my shoe, and I was very depressed by the pain - I couldn't walk barely without pain. My surgeon put me on Lyrica, and within a week, almost all of the burning disappeared. I get a random 'shock' in my toes, a spasm in my arch, and part of my foot is still numb, but I can function again. The pain is manageable and minor. I'm told it will heal but will take months. I've had some blurred vision, but that's better than the pain. Lyrica was a lifesaver."

For Migraine Prevention "I have never written a drug review in my life, but thought I should with this one. I suffer from migraine and nerve damage in my legs following chemotherapy. I was told to take only 25 mg at night and build up slowly to 75 mg. I only managed to take 25 mg for 2 weeks before quitting. This horrible medication is great if you want to fall asleep all day and turn into a zombie because that is all it did to me. I did have some slight relief, but whilst on this medication, I didn’t really care as it melted my brain. It also gave me blurry vision after a week, which wasn’t nice. I am trying another drug now. It may help you, but do your research as this drug has bad press."

For Neuropathic Pain "It does work for nerve pain, but the side effects were horrible. Weight gain, blurred vision, shaking, falling asleep at the dinner table, anger, feeling of not caring about anything, feeling like a zombie. Getting off Lyrica is worse. Have to get off a little bit at a time. I am now down to 75 mg twice a day. I feel like a new person. I am back to normal, however, pain has increased. At this point, I would rather put up with the pain than the side effects. I know my wife is glad I am back."

For Fibromyalgia "I started taking pregabalin (Lyrica) 16 years ago. It still works for me. I'm on 200 mg three times a day. In the beginning, the doctor started me on 100 mg three times a day. The side effects were pretty severe. The blurred vision and dizziness bothered me most. But it helped so much! I could function and sleep. It took months for the side effects to subside. I definitely recommend pregabalin over gabapentin. They are in the same drug class, but gabapentin seemed much weaker. If you're sensitive to medicine or your pain is not that bad, you should probably try gabapentin. If you take quite a bit of medicine, as I do, and your symptoms keep you from your normal activities, I would highly suggest pregabalin!"

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "Avoid this drug at all costs!! I was prescribed it for GAD and depression. The headaches, blurred vision, worse insomnia, and dizziness are hell, so after just 8 weeks, I’m trying to come off it by reducing the dose by 25 mg every 3rd day, from 150 mg a day. Now down to 75 mg a day. I’m having panic attacks several times a day, worse anxiety, and worse depression. I’m functioning even less than I was before. Just had a panic attack because the washing needed bringing in!!! Life has reached a new hell, and I fully understand why people commit suicide or go back on this stuff. Why is it even legal?"

Pregabalin for Neuralgia "After spinal injury, I suffered neuralgia in my legs. The doctors tried multiple drugs, some were worthless, and some of the others were dangerous. Lyrica caused blurring of vision and tremors. Looking for something to make me feel better. Lyrica was not it."
