Pregabalin for Neuropathic Pain "I have sciatica, and I've been taking this medication (150 mg per day) for several weeks and have very few side effects except for blurred vision (close up, though my long-distance vision is fine). Which is a challenge, as my job requires quite a bit of computer work. I am wondering if this will last as long as I am on this medication."

Pregabalin for Fibromyalgia "I recently began taking 75 mg of Lyrica 3 times daily. I have fibromyalgia and felt awful for a very long time. I have noticed so much improvement in my muscle pain and all that comes with having FM. I do have to say that I also have a little blurred vision or blurriness in my eyes from taking it. The way I feel so far, I will definitely continue taking it."

For Fibromyalgia "I have been on pregabalin 150 mg nighttime dose since 2007 for fibromyalgia. I sometimes get blurred vision and gas from the nighttime dose. I cannot take it during the day. My last script was the generic version, and I do not feel well. So tired and out of sorts feeling, along with my pain getting worse. When I fall asleep, I’m in a coma, like very hard to wake up, and when I do, I have my fibro pain back big time! Don’t think this generic version is going to work for me, and of course insurance won’t pay for the Lyrica brand. Anyone else having problems with the generic brand?"

Pregabalin for Fibromyalgia "Lyrica was my miracle drug for the first few weeks. I've been living with fibromyalgia for over 5 years and have tried everything: antidepressants, exercise, narcotics, you name it. So I was excited about the dramatic pain reduction from Lyrica. But now I have developed severe muscle weakness, headache, abdominal cramping, blurry vision, bad judgment, which causes accidents to my fingers and toes. I have recently had difficulty thinking clearly. I can barely hold myself up, and I can't lift anything over a few pounds. I have asked my doctor if I can safely stop taking it. She said to stop daytime and only take it at bedtime every other night till I wean off. My quality of life has worsened. I have started chondroitin, MSM powder, and alpha-lipoic."

Pregabalin for Fibromyalgia "Had a slipped disc with sciatic pain diagnosed before the new year. Had been having heart palpitations, anxiousness, blurry vision, and having suicidal thoughts. Felt it could be due to the drugs I'm taking and turns out... it's all from Lyrica."

Pregabalin for Neuralgia "I didn't experience any side effects at 50 mg 2x per day. After my knee replacement surgery, I started taking 100 mg 3x per day. Almost right away I noticed vision blurriness and mental fog. After about a month, I started noticing weight gain and swelling in my ankles, legs, feet, and my hands are puffy. I have been on it 7 weeks now and have already gained 10 pounds. The swelling in my feet is nearly intolerable."

For Neuropathic Pain "Was given this drug by the doctor after a full dose of gabapentin taken that day, and told it was not a gabapentinoid. Days later, I had extremely blurred vision and already had tunnel vision, double vision, and photophobia from gabapentin. Told to stop the first drug and carry on with the second. Suddenly, 9 days later, I became completely blind in both eyes for 5 days. Over two years later, I still have dimmed blurred vision."

Pregabalin for Fibromyalgia "I have had fibromyalgia for 4 years now, and recently my doctor put me on Lyrica and Cymbalta. The Lyrica is a true lifesaver, it really helps with the pain. But it has a lot of side effects. Cons - feeling like a zombie, shakes, sick to my stomach, itching, blurry eyes, drowsiness. Pros - my pain is almost all gone, happy mood, and I can move freely with barely any pain. And I feel like I'm on cloud nine and can't wait to go to sleep. Overall, Lyrica has really helped me a lot. I have tried the generic gabapentin and Savella. They do not work! I'm so happy that I found this website for all the people who have aches and pains as well as I. Thank you."

For Peripheral Neuropathy "On Lyrica for 4 yrs under Pain Specialist. Was taking one 100 mg capsule AM, one 100 mg capsule midday, and two 100 mg capsules before bed for a total of 400 mg/day. My non-diabetic peripheral neuropathy is unbearable without it. Only side effect is blurred vision, a small trade-off for the relief offered. Now I am troubled. Finishing the last of my brand name Lyrica from my last 90-day script, I just started 400 mg/day of newly acquired generic pregabalin. Something is wrong! Painful electric bolts to my left lower extremity have increasingly returned, albeit in a less severe intensity. Note that I had rated this new med a '7', doing so in contrast to calling the brand name Lyrica a '10'. I am distraught. Are there any other such reports? How can I continue to obtain Lyrica regardless of the cost? Thanks very much for allowing me to report this to you. My Lyrica costs $50/month mail order and the pregabalin is only $5."

Pregabalin for Fibromyalgia "I was on Lyrica for a total of four days. It got rid of my pain (almost completely!), but the side effects were terrible. I got anxious, depressed, confused, blurred vision, and a general 'high' (not a good high) feeling. I felt very dumb and had a lot of trouble articulating my thoughts. Overall, a terrible drug for me. The side effects outweighed the benefits of this medication."

For Neuropathic Pain "I've been on the real Lyrica for almost 2 years after a disk ruptured and severed a nerve in my back. Lyrica has worked with the pain and helped me to walk again. I was forced to go on this generic brand, which I've only been on for 2 weeks, and have had major setbacks. I've been back in bed several days with severe back pain. My eyes are so blurry I can hardly see my cell phone at times. I can't switch back, according to my insurance, now that this generic is out. I'm devastated. It is hard to live like this. Gabapentin didn't work either, and that's why I switched to Lyrica and was so grateful it was there for me. Now what...suffer...?"

Pregabalin for Peripheral Neuropathy "It is difficult to rate this medication. I have all forms of neuropathy, very painful, and Lyrica has been the best so far at eliminating pain, allowing me to overcome the insomnia from the neuropathy and opiate medication, even at very small doses. I take 50 mg once daily before bed, and it works. The problem is the side effects, the worst being that after three days, my eyesight is so degraded that I cannot drive, I cannot read anything on the television 6 feet away, there is some eye pain, and my eyes seem dry and burning. Eye problems can be serious: wandering eye, crossed eyes, and most commonly blurred vision. It also causes peripheral edema in my legs and feet."

Pregabalin for Neuropathic Pain "Taking Lyrica for spinal cord injury. Started with 75 mg daily. Seemed to stop the severe burning in my feet, but I have memory problems with blurred vision. The doctor has upped the meds to 150 mg 2X daily. Not sure how I'm going to react to that. I'll report back in a week or two if I have a brain left."

Pregabalin for Pain "My neurosurgeon prescribed Lyrica after a lumbar fusion at L5-S1 to control pain. It worked great and allowed me to sleep when no other medication helped. I started at a higher dose and then, as I felt better and better, I only took it at night. After about 4 months, I was ready to go back to work. I found myself unmotivated and disinterested. When I spoke to my GP about this, he made the connection between Lyrica and my general malaise, noting that it is also used for anxiety, which I did not have. After that, we worked to wean the dosage down, and I stopped taking it after a few weeks. My side effects included a long time to wake up, general uncoordination upon waking, and some bouts of blurred vision. I did not experience weight gain."

Pregabalin for Fibromyalgia "I started on Lyrica 150 mg twice a day. I am 68 years old and could not tolerate the side effects. The medication did relieve the pain of fibromyalgia and helped me sleep at night. However, it gave me instant dementia. My short-term memory was gone. The doctor reduced the dosage to 75 mg two times a day. I could only take it at night because of drowsiness. It also caused blurred vision. Dementia continued, and I was forced to stop the medication. It works for the pain, but the side effects are bad."

For Fibromyalgia "Dr. started me out at 25 mg 2x per day, (dry mouth and no relief. Could swear that I feel worse on this drug.) One month later, 50 mg 2x per day (dry mouth seemed to go away, no relief and still in a lot of pain.) Good thing is I'm sleeping way better. This month, 100 mg 2x per day. Dry mouth is back, slight swelling of hands and feet, drunk feeling, droopy eyes, memory problems, strange convos where I forget what I'm saying and feels like I can't focus on my work. Blurry vision as well. I'm still in a lot of pain. If being on this does not help me by the end of the month, I'm done! I thought this would be my saving grace as no other meds have helped me. Now I'm dreading weaning off after reading all the 'lovely' side effects of withdrawal. Ugh! I'm losing hope but I try to stay positive."

Pregabalin for Pain "I had laminectomy surgery in 2003, which was about 40% effective. I still have constant sharp pain in my left testicle, recurring burning pain in my left calf, and lower back pain. For years after surgery, I have had acupuncture, chiropractic care, physical therapy, and medications. I have taken methadone, morphine, and oxycodone for 4 years. Now I have been taking Lyrica for a year. For the first 6-7 months, it was like a wonder drug. It worked as well as anything else, aside from dry mouth, weight gain, and blurred vision. Now it's not working so well. An MRI showed I have many broad-based disc bulges, spondylosis, stenosis, and arthritis. Now looking at fusion surgery. Lyrica has worked for me, however, it seems to be less effective than when I began taking it."

For Neuropathic Pain "Wow! I have started taking pregabalin for 4 days, and to be honest, I was concerned initially as I found the tiredness, muscle lethargy, grogginess, blurry vision, moderate headaches, and burning in feet and calves a bit much. However, on the 4th day, everything seems to be improving. My nerve/sciatica has literally nearly gone, and I also feel upbeat and positive in myself. The side effects seem to be getting less now, and I hope things stay as they are or improve even more as days go on? So definitely worth persevering to get the results you want."

Pregabalin for Neuropathic Pain "Initial euphoric effects wore off, so dosage was increased. Was told it would treat nerve pain and later told it was good for anxiety. My anxiety got worse on the medication, as when it was due or late, I was ill. It has addictive qualities I do not like. My health took a nosedive on this, and I had to come off due to blurred vision, weight gain, and blocked bowel. My doctor advised decreasing by 75mg a week. My first drop was hell, it completely threw me into a panic as I felt so ill. No one explained withdrawal when I saw medics in a state, no one comforted me, saying it could be the reduction was too high/quick for me. After all, in hindsight, if I felt unwell late taking one dose, then dropping 75mg wouldn't be helpful quickly. Lower doses are not easy to get as more costly to the NHS, etc."

For Migraine Prevention "For more than one month, I was suffering from migraine-type headache. But the diagnosis most probably was occipital neuralgia. All the medications over the counter helped, but still suffering every day with severe headache. After starting Lyrica 75 mg twice a day, I am a new person, almost no headaches, I am so happy. Adverse effects I noticed: dry mouth and, for a few days, blurred vision (a little)."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "I don't even know how to start to explain the impact Lyrica has had on my life this past few months. I keep feeling like I'm going to wake up from a lovely dream, back in my old body, terrified of living life because of crippling social anxiety. However, it isn't a dream, and Lyrica has changed my life. No longer do I avoid friends and family, and no longer do I procrastinate at work. I am just a happy, confident, calm, and motivated person, and am living my best life! Side effects so far are drowsiness and blurred vision. However, these are very mild. Also, I've tried various SSRI meds in the past and Effexor, but they do not compare to Lyrica."

Pregabalin for Neuropathic Pain "My doctor prescribed me Lyrica for some trivially mild ulnar tunnel syndrome. Within about a week of taking just 75 mg per day (once before bedtime), I developed horrible anxiety, insomnia, muscle tremors, and suicidal thoughts. My vision blurred as well, but it wasn't severe. It's been eleven days now since I've stopped taking Lyrica, and most of the side effects have gone. The anxiety is still there, but it's no longer as bad as it was. Had I known about any of this, I would have just applied hot packs to my wrist and waited for it to heal by itself. The side effects were totally not worth it."

Pregabalin for Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy "I’m 52 with a good deal of diabetic neuropathy, mainly stabbing pain, occasionally burning or feeling frozen, like frostbite. I tried Gabapentin first, which was moderately effective. My doctor suggested Lyrica, which was only slightly better than Gabapentin. However, the Lyrica was effective enough at 100 mg TID. Lyrica has a calming effect and provides me a mild mood boost. It’s nowhere near as powerful as opiates, though, for pain control. I also accidentally discovered it all but eliminated opiate withdrawal. I was still restless, brain dead, and exhausted for a week, but almost all the other awful symptoms I had been through before in pain medication withdrawal never materialized. Unwelcome side effects for me have been feeling “drunk” with blurred vision for a couple of hours after taking it. I’ve also stopped and restarted it without major withdrawals. I know some people have significant withdrawals from Lyrica, but I’ve not experienced that."
