"I am 36, have a bad case of a herniated disc that hits me in the back. Lyrica has helped a lot with pain and overcoming my hernia's crisis twice, at 150-300 mg daily. This is not an example of chronic use, although I might be such one case in the future if the problem persists. In lower doses, it seems to take more time (days) to take effect, in higher doses, the side effects are more pronounced. My side effects were: slight sedation, euphoria, strange body coordination, all in all: the psychoactivity. One can have an accident on these, so caution should be exercised and doctors' instructions followed strictly. Using cars or other potentially dangerous machines should probably be avoided too."

"Been on Lyrica for over 4 years. Tried other drugs before, but they didn't work. The insurance company for a couple of years now has been trying to talk me into trying others again. I tried them before. The Lyrica works for the nerve damage in my legs. It feels like lightning bolts of pain shooting in my legs, and the Lyrica works on it. I go to get my meds this time, and they made me get the Pregabalin generic. Upset, but thought I had no choice and started taking them. Within the first 3 days, I knew they were not working like the Lyrica. The lightning bolts started to come back. I will have to admit they are not quite as bad as they were when I first got the nerve damage. Now it's more like a medium lightning bolt, and once in a while, a big one will hit. Kind of like if you had a cord that on the end of it just had 2 wires, you plug it into the socket, then touch the wire ends to your skin, and you then get a big jolt. This is what it feels like when I say lightning bolt pains. And now what am I supposed to do as they won't pay for the Lyrica :-("

"I sustained a severe injury in the Army on an airborne operation. I broke five vertebrae in my back and broke my right heel off and into multiple pieces. Needless to say, I have severe pain daily. Gabapentin stopped working, along with other nervous system treatments such as acupuncture and alpha-stim. Finally, I got into a pain clinic after waiting for a long time, and they gave me Lyrica. The first night I took it, my foot was on fire and I felt as though I had ants crawling all over me and biting me. Opiates work great, but due to all the idiots abusing them, it screws the rest of us that it helps. In conclusion, I will never take Lyrica again."

Pregabalin "I have a pinched sciatic nerve in my lower back due to a compression fracture, and also severe nerve damage in my left arm. After being on different narcotics that didn't work, I gave up and just lived with the aching in my arm that never stopped. My doctor put me on Lyrica, and I swear, I started crying because I had no pain in my arm for the first time since my accident, 5 years. Lyrica has been a godsend for me. It helps both my back and my arm. When my doctor increases the dose, the side effects go away after 2 weeks. I recommend this medicine to anybody with nerve damage."

Pregabalin "I have suffered with sciatica for years. I have done physical therapy out the wazoo. I have had injections. Nothing helped till Lyrica. It took a little trial and error to find exactly the right dose for me, but my pain is manageable without narcotics for the first time in many years."

"This medication is first-line treatment in chronic pain. Its pharmacological side effects are quite similar to benzodiazepines. Side effects include acute cognitive impairment, significant motor control reduction, loss of swift reflexes, inability to concentrate, etc. Anyone who studied pharmacology knows that benzodiazepines are far more addictive physically and mentally, and the withdrawal can be LETHAL, via seizure and death, as compared to opioids/opiates, where it will not kill, but the withdrawal will be highly uncomfortable. So Lyrica, gabapentin, and the other drugs that fall into the category, at least the way I lay them out as 'gaba-nergic' like side effect drugs. These drugs are MORE DANGEROUS THAN OPIOIDS. This is objective."

"Was put on Pregabalin a week ago after headaches and facial pain due to trigeminal neuralgia. I also have severe anxiety because of this and depression. I have been on another medication, carbamazepine, for over a year, and since switching to Pregabalin - 75mg one in the morning and one at bedtime - my pain has reduced, and my anxiety has reduced completely. Hopefully, this continues. I must also add that I also take sertraline 100mg x 2 daily & amitriptyline 4 at night."

"For severe chronic insomnia, pregabalin does increase sleep for sure, and I have regained many hours, even if it wasn't on the exact clock I planned. Combined with a good sleep-initiating medicine (i.e., trazodone), pregabalin is an even better lifesaver than alone. Next, pregabalin works quite well for benzodiazepine withdrawals. Lastly, it does work well for depression and anxiety. The downside is that it will dull cognition greatly and can also greatly increase depression at certain doses. For me, the best dose for sleep isn't great for those reasons, however, lowering the dosage (after a break) has provided better results. Takes experimenting with dosages."

"I have been taking Lyrica for chronic lower back pain, Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD) for four months at 75 mg twice daily. It has definitely taken the edge off the pain, and I am now able to sleep all night. I still have pain, but not as bad as before. Might ask to up the dose. Side effects are feeling relaxed and sometimes makes me feel tired, but great drug."

Pregabalin "I have suffered severe pain for 20 years following a motorcycle accident. During this time, I have tried every sort of pain relief available to me, mainly narcotic drugs, which I found as bad as the pain itself. Earlier this year, I was prescribed Lyrica. As far as pain relief goes, it was fantastic. After a few months (1x 75 mg cap per day), I experienced total confusion and was unable to perform my daily tasks at work or at home. I was becoming agitated and experienced suicidal thoughts. Things returned to normal after a week or so of not taking Lyrica. Because it worked so well, I am tempted to give it another go. It was just so good to not feel the pain anymore."

Pregabalin "I am taking Lyrica 75 mg every night, per doctor's instructions. I have had no relief for my lower back, right hip, and right leg pain. I have also had my third steroid injection, and if anything, my pain is worse. I am so tired and desperate for relief. I feel like I have no quality of life."

"Many years of acute back pain episodes, now 7 years of chronic pain, severe osteoarthritis all over, including back, herniated inoperable disc, spinal cord stimulator June 2014. Started Lyrica 7 months ago, now at 75 mg x 2, twice daily. Reduced oxycodone from 80 mg daily to 40 mg daily, tramadol for breakthrough. Hope to increase Lyrica and further reduce oxy. Still do PT for flares. PT is needling with electricity, like acupuncture with electricity running through needles. It is amazing. No side effects, no weight gain but possibly weight moved to stomach area, no problem. 5 ft 3 in, 125 lbs. Lyrica is no miracle but finally found a combo of therapy, meds (Lyrica included) for some quality of life."

Pregabalin "This is a miracle medicine. My pain prior to taking this medicine was so bad. I was having a hard time waking up in the mornings because the pain was just wearing me down. It was harder to function at work too. My imagination started running wild as I started wondering if I was going to end up on Social Security disability. I've had 2 back surgeries C4-C7 and started to have new pain in the T spine below the 3-level fusion. I started taking Neurontin a few months ago for my pain and it did help some, but after a few months, it wasn't helping anymore. My pain was strong and deep. I just didn't have much hope in this medicine, but it is AMAZING! I have my life back. It helped with my anxiety also."

Pregabalin "I was given a lot of different pain medications, even 3 shots of morphine, and my pain didn't go away. 150 mg of Lyrica twice a day, and I had no pain. My vision is a little blurry, and I feel bloated, but I'll take that any day over the back pain."

Pregabalin "For 18 months, I have had severe lumbar, butt, and leg pain. I got spinal injections that helped some, but the leg pain was still especially bad. Finally, I had back surgery, which helped the lower back, but not the pain in my hips and legs, which was intense. As usual, I had physical therapy, massage, and finally acupuncture. Nothing worked. My doctor finally started me on Lyrica at 50 mg before bed, then 100 mg, and finally at 200 mg before bedtime. It has reduced the pain by about 70 percent. It also helps me sleep like a log, and the only side effects are some dizziness in the morning, but by around 10 AM, that goes away. Great stuff!"

Pregabalin "I was prescribed Lyrica for nerve pain as well as tingling, numbness, and an electricity feeling in my legs. Since I have been taking it (about 6 months now), these symptoms are all but gone. The only side effects I have are short-term memory loss and concentration issues, but I am able to work around these in most cases. Lyrica has been amazing for me."

Pregabalin "I started having intermittent pain about two months ago all over my body. My hands, shoulders, legs, knees, feet... it all hurt. My doctor tested for inflammatory diseases and autoimmune diseases, and nothing showed up. He decided to treat me as if I have fibromyalgia and gave me Lyrica (not sure what dose but supposed to take 2x a day). This little capsule is great. I can move and actually sleep comfortably at night. Only issue is it does make me sleepy, so I can only take it at night, but that's good for me right now."

"I have been on Lyrica for approximately 6 years. It helps me so much. Then I was given this new generic version. In a matter of hours, I was in so much pain I was in tears. Since my insurance had already covered the generic, I had to wait thirty days to get the real Lyrica with no substitution. I was totally bedridden for those thirty days. Once I was given the true Lyrica 30 days later, in a matter of hours, my intense pain was gone. I will never take this generic again. I can't even imagine going through that pain again."

"Was on 3600 mg of gabapentin for pain and anxiety caused by multiple sclerosis. After 4 or 5 years, it lost the ability to perform as it once did. Doc has me on 450 mg pregabalin now. Seems to be working fairly well. The doctor says we can increase the dose a bit if needed, but I want to go real slow. I hate the amount of pills I have to take. I am willing to put up with a bit of pain if it means a lower dose. Just got to the point something had to give."

Pregabalin "Lyrica has been a lifesaver for me. Prior to being prescribed Lyrica, I was living with terrible burning pain because of vulvodynia. Lyrica provided me with the relief I did not get from any other drugs. I can now enjoy life with little to no pain. I am so thankful that I was prescribed Lyrica."

"Fit 57-year-old male. I've suffered from L4/L5 osteoarthritis, arthritic knees, and some systemic joint pain for just under 5 years. I tried ablation, cortisone shots, oral cortisone, and strong opiates; all providing some temporary relief. After 1 month on Lyrica, my knees are almost pain-free, elbow joint pain has gone, and my back pain has plummeted around 80%. All this on just 75 milligrams per day! Fantastic. I titrated very slowly over several weeks because of rumored side effects. Measured out half 25 mg tablets and started at a dose of 12.5 mg per day. Second week 25 mg. Third week 50 mg. It was in this third week I suffered some brain fog and tiredness. The first few days at 50 mg, the side effects were quite debilitating. After several days, the side effects had mostly abated. Last week, I moved up to 75 milligrams. Again, side effects returned. Yesterday morning, I woke up free of side effects and almost completely pain-free. For now, 75 mg is my sweet spot."

"This worked wonders for me, but I have an allergy to it. Was warned it would make me drowsy, but made me have crazy anxiety and tight chest. Problem was it completely eliminated my sciatic and lower back pain. Couldn't cope with side effects on 75 mg, so dropped to 25 mg, still too harsh side effects. Moved on to Gabapentin in the last 48 hours, which has seen back pain return but no sciatic pain or tightness. I am allergic/have a bad intolerance to caffeine, and it was exactly the same reaction. Sadly, due to side effects, this tablet didn't work out for me."

Pregabalin "I have degenerative disc disease and 4 herniated disks. I have been down the road of dependence on OxyContin and Duragesic. Those medicines worked great, however, they do not hold up as they claim. My doctor put me on Lyrica at 300 mg a day, and what a difference it has made! My mobility is much better, as well as my mental outlook on life. This medicine seems to do the job. I like it and recommend it."

"Was on Lyrica for three years for pain due to degenerate discs in my back and very bad sciatica from bulging discs. Works great for pain, but around the third year, I noticed increased joint pain in my knees and hips that continued to get worse. I decided to go off Lyrica, and while the first week was pretty bad for pain, since I've been off, my joint pain has almost gone away. No more knee or hip pain. Not sure why or how, but the change is incredible."
