For Depression "Was on Parnate years ago for depression/PTSD, and finally decided to put a bullet in my anxiety this year by trying Nardil again. I've tried SSRIs and all those, and they're like flavorless candy - useless. Parnate worked great but always made me feel like I was 'on something.' Nardil does not. I quite simply feel like the best version of myself. I'll never forget the week this stuff finally took effect. It took about 2 months, but I didn't even realize I was depressed this time around. Just wanted to treat anxiety but got the whole package by attacking depression, anxiety, and social anxiety. I briefly switched brands (from Greenstone to Lupin), and it didn't work well for me. I went back into the dark hole and truly realized how much of a difference Nardil has made for me. It's absolutely wonderful. Any stronger and they should call this 'ecstasy' instead. I'll be taking this the rest of my life."

For Depression "I am still on Nardil and waiting to wean off. My experience has not been great. It hasn't helped me with depression as it only has caused terrible adverse effects that have affected my life. I am depressed, angry, irritated, anxiety-ridden, just to name a few symptoms. My doctor is going to start getting me off it soon as he will try Nortriptyline. It's true that Nardil works for a lot of people, but not me. Just a terrible experience."

For Depression "Took away my panic attacks, but gave me depression, severe agitation, and a racing heart. I may have been a bad candidate for this drug since I'm pretty high-strung. At 45 mg, I experienced insomnia like never before-no sleep for 5 days straight! Every time I would nod off, I would get jerked wide awake. I was scared I was never going to sleep again. I don't recommend this if you are med-sensitive. Withdrawals are a whole different story, way worse than any SSRI or SNRI. Please be careful with this drug."

For Depression "Suffered agoraphobia, anxiety, and depression, but Nardil has been my lifesaver and I’ve done things I’d never thought I could, flying abroad, etc. I had to stop almost cold turkey as I couldn’t get tabs, been awful!! Depressed, nausea, feeling sweats, heart racing. After a month, managed to get tablets from a pharmacy that delivers to the door, 1 week on 15 mg, now 2nd day on 30 mg, NEVER take more than that. Still suffering bouts of tears, tiredness, and loss of appetite. Lost 10 lb since stopping. GOT TO THINK POSITIVE AS I KNOW THEY WORK!!!"

For Migraine Prevention "I've been on Nardil for migraine prevention, probably 5 years now. My neurologist prescribed it after nothing else would work, including Depakote and Topamax. My original dosage was 15 mg 3 times a day. I tried going off of it last year, 1 pill per week, as directed by my neurologist, but it was a horrible experience with 3 weeks of diarrhea, weakness, and depression, so I cut it down to 1/2 pill per week. Still a bad experience. Had to go back on it. Tried again this summer, cutting it by 1/4 pill per week...much better results. However, when I was down to the last pill in the morning, migraines hit with a vengeance. I've upped it back to 1.5 pills per day. I plan to try to decrease again, but even slower. Other than migraines returning aggressively, no bad experience this time."

For Depression "I've struggled with depression and social anxiety all my life and have recently been treated with a variety of different antidepressants. I think I am depressed because of a narcissistic mother who seemed to be unable to love unconditionally. While Nardil might well help others, I don't feel it has helped me, and the effect on sexual activity is depressing in itself. I am currently seeing a psychotherapist, and while it is very hard to deal with the issues that come up, I think it might be my salvation. I do hope so."

For Depression "I was very upset after trying this drug. I had such high hopes and am very confused with the high ratings. I was on Nardil for 2 months and have experienced many side effects: dizziness, fatigue, nausea, no energy, worse depression, zero libido, agitation. I was on 45 mg and could barely stand up at this dose. If you are sensitive to medication, this is probably not for you. The only advantage was a slight reduction in anxiety."

For Depression "Nardil helps with anxiety but made me extremely tired, depressed, and agitated. I could only tolerate a low dose of 30 mg. Every time I tried to raise it to 45 mg, I experienced dizziness to the point of fainting, agitation, and crying spells."

For Depression "I've been on Nardil for 30 years after trying a bunch of other non-MAOI meds. It has been the ONLY antidepressant that has worked for me! For reasons too long to explain, I had to go off Nardil about 10 years ago, and I became SO sick! I had nausea 24/7 for almost 6 months and obviously, was getting more and more depressed! We thought I would start to feel better after some time until finally, I couldn't take it any longer. Within the first 24 hrs of going back on Nardil, I started to feel physically better. A year or two later I tried to go off Nardil again. During a 6-month period, I was only able to wean off 1 of 3 pills, but I was sick the entire time! The moment I take even a half a pill, I'm not sick! Unfortunately, I am physically not able to go off Nardil even if I wanted to! I just hope that I won't ever HAVE to go off Nardil for health reasons because I will just be sick and depressed! Has anyone else experienced that or similar reaction to going off Nardil?"
