For Interstitial Cystitis "I've been struggling with IC for a few months now. Bladder instillations did not help. My doctor recommended phenazopyridine, as well as an antidepressant at nighttime (it's thought to relax the bladder). I noticed a difference. On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the worst), I was brought down to a steady 2. There were brief moments of even feeling like a 1. This was a win for me. I just ran out of my phenazopyridine about two days ago, and my bladder urgency has begun creeping back. I was really hoping I wouldn't have to continue with medicine, as I just don't like being dependent on them, but here we are. I just called in a refill. So far, the only side effect is the strong yellow/orange urine. I think this medicine should come with free panty liners! I would like to know though- is taking phenazopyridine every day bad? I hope that this is just temporary and my bladder will begin to heal itself, and perhaps I will only need phenazopyridine when flare-ups occur. Thanks!"

Phenazopyridine for Dysuria "I was feeling an urge to pee constantly and a burning feeling in my bladder. I had gone to the doctor and was told I had a UTI and was given medication. I asked my doctor about AZO pills and was informed that it would help. So I stopped by the local store and bought some with a bottled water. It helped me in less than 30 minutes. I was so relieved. It helped with the pain and constant urge to pee."

For Dysuria "After a successful surgical removal of a kidney stone, it felt like I was urinating pieces of glass. This medication was a godsend in pain reduction and fear of urinating. Motrin worked, and I didn't need narcotic pain relievers at all."

For Interstitial Cystitis "I recently got diagnosed with IC at age 19. They told me I had UTIs at first, and I was taking AZO like candy. After they found out it was IC, I still had to take AZO maximum strength when I have flare-ups. I always keep some in my purse, at home, and at work. Just got a bladder installation done, and I’m in unbearable pain. Just found out you can take AZO with DMSO (medication they used in my installation), so once again AZO saved the day. Yes, it stains my underwear orange, but you can just put a mini pad down. I'm willing to pay around $8 for a box. I spend about $8 to $20 a month on AZO. Miracle drug! I could not live without this."

For Dysuria "Bought Azo, and it didn't work for me at all. If anything, it made it worse! It still burns when I pee, and it's really painful and uncomfortable. The only difference this med made was changing the color of my urine to a dark orange-looking color."

For Dysuria "I've been in pain for three days and cannot get an appointment until next week, so I went all out and bought cranberry juice, tablets, and this medicine. I felt no differently after taking it. And not even three hours later, I still had the pain and urgency. I woke up this morning hoping it would have worked by now to find my lower parts completely covered in a rash, and it itched horribly. Apparently, I'm allergic to the dyes or something. How could I have known? Be very careful before taking this product and make sure you are absolutely not allergic to anything on the list. It didn't work for me, and it broke me out so badly that I can't even put underwear on. The rash wasn't the product's fault, but I am giving it a 1 for not helping the pain."

Phenazopyridine for Dysuria "I was in pain one might say, so I drove to Kroger at 3 in the morning, bought this because it said it had more strength than Azo, so I took them as soon as I walked out of the store, drove home, sat in my car for an hour, to still be in pain. These pills do not work, I drove back to Kroger, got the Azo brand, and was in relief within 20 minutes. Don't waste your money on this brand."

For Dysuria "I took one of the 200 mg pills as prescribed to me for UTI symptoms. I took it with a meal and a glass of water as suggested. It did work relatively quickly to get rid of the urgency, burning, and pain. Unfortunately, it caused me to vomit up everything I ate and drank within 5 hours of taking it. Severe dizziness, nausea, and uncontrollable vomiting are not worth the benefits of the medication."

Phenazopyridine for Interstitial Cystitis "My husband brought Uricalm home instead of Uristat. Big mistake. It takes over an hour to feel relief, whereas Uristat takes about 10-15 minutes tops. Unfortunately, I get UTIs about twice a year, and Uristat has always been my lifesaver while taking my antibiotics or before my doctor's appointment. Don’t waste your money."

For Dysuria "After 2 doses, I noticed a significant difference in my urinary tract symptoms. It does upset your stomach and make you feel nauseous. Luckily, the doctor will only put you on this medicine for 3 days before the antibiotics start to kick in."

For Dysuria "Suffering from kidney stones and post-surgery pains and stents, this drug is great. I can finally take my mind off of the relentless pains, even using just half a dose. I can be functional again! It does make my urine a shocking color, but that's the only side effect I notice."

Phenazopyridine for Dysuria "Maybe it's good, but in my case, I had so much urgency that I became sometimes incontinent. The carpet and the clothes stains cannot be taken out. Now I have to spend a lot of money changing the carpet."

For Dysuria "I took this med for about 3 weeks, 2-3 times a day. It helped a lot with the urinating burning pain after having the mid-urethral sling surgery and after having a catheter in place for a week. I noticed leg cramps started towards the third week and have continued very bad every night ever since, even after stopping the medicine. The cramps and spasms are so painful, and I had to get up and walk around to stretch out the muscles to relieve. My doctor said to try drinking tonic water with quinine, which I have been doing every day now, and it has helped a lot! You can also try Hyland's natural pills for leg cramps. These did not seem to do the trick without the tonic water. I think it has to do with dehydration because I also felt very thirsty."

For Dysuria "Best temporary quick pain relief till you can get to the doctor for antibiotics. I repeat: it does not cure infection. Only pain and symptom relief. You still have an infection. Only take for 2 days as directed. Go to the doctor or walk-in clinic. See a urologist if you have more than 2 infections per year. Note: all medications are not good for your gut microbiome. Plus, 70% of your hormones from the gut influence your body and brain. Take as much as necessary and as little as possible! Especially antibiotics, as they affect the good and bad microbes in your gut and can take up to months to a year to repopulate to normal."

For Interstitial Cystitis "Recently, I started taking Azo Standard, which seemed to work fine. It cleared my symptoms, but I noticed that I had extreme dry mouth. Figured it would eventually go away. Like Azo products, so I decided to try their Bladder Control. Started to take it about 2 days after finishing the Standard. Again, experienced extreme dry mouth but with some added issues. My eyes were very dry and itchy, and I did notice slight discoloration. My eyes looked and felt tired. My skin overall was dry to the point of itchiness. Had leg cramps at night and sometimes during the day. All of these symptoms started happening towards the end of taking the Standard, but I brushed it off to a change in weather, dust, etc. I started taking the Bladder Control about 2 or 3 days after. I did follow the directions. Still didn’t think Azo was the problem, so I continued taking it until this past Friday, 11/5/21. I have been constipated, dizzy, nauseous, tired, and all the things stated above."

For Dysuria "I had a UTI once as a teenager and got this as RX, and it worked wonders! Went in to my doctor today for the same symptoms after having a kidney stone. The doctor said I don't have any infection, but it was still hurting. I bought this over the counter (Uricalm), and it still works wonders! I feel so much better! If your bladder hurts, use this!"

Phenazopyridine for Dysuria "Did some, not enough, to relieve pain. I have pain because I have a ureter stent and am receiving radiation treatments to the pelvis-both irritate the bladder and urinary tract. I am searching for a similar drug to this. There must be something similar to this drug that helps alleviate the pain."

For Dysuria "I was prescribed this phenazopyridine by my doctor, and I hated the way it made me feel. It made me feel nauseous and caused abdominal pain. I thought my symptoms were worsening, but I noticed that once I took a dose, I would start to feel terrible. I stopped taking it on the second day and started to feel better."

"Prescribed by the surgeon who implanted polypropylene mesh sling in my abdomen. This device is killing me. I took Pyridium for three years prescribed by the doctor. I am taking it again now OTC under the name AZO. Blessings, Bejah."

For Dysuria "I was given this medication after a procedure for kidney stones. It was given to me in recovery with no way to research it. It is in a family of drugs I am allergic to. It caused severe abdominal pain, dizziness, confusion, headaches, and vomiting. It contains Red 40, which is being studied for toxicity. Also, as of Sept 2022, this drug is not FDA-approved. Research this drug before taking it! It made me extremely ill."

Phenazopyridine for Interstitial Cystitis "It has always helped. Better to take it at first signs. When it's full blown, it’s not really enough. But now I take the vitamin store powdered d-mannose powder. You mix it with water and drink it. I read in a book that it works better. Plus, there’s more d-mannose in it. In the book 'From Fatigued to Fantastic', it advises you how much to take. I take the vitamin store brand because they’re the only ones that don’t add nitric oxide that made me very jittery. Then you drink unsweetened cranberry juice also."

Phenazopyridine for Dysuria "Review of Azo Urinary Relief (Phenazopyridine): I took Azo Urinary Relief, extra strength, as directed for two days. The drug worked as intended. However, the evening I finished the last dose, I began experiencing significant gastrointestinal symptoms—gas pains, bloating, mild nausea, and loss of appetite. These symptoms lasted for about three full days, with things starting to resolve on the third day. The discomfort was enough to make me think something worse was going on. While stomach upset is listed as a possible side effect, I think it’s important to know that these effects can be moderate to severe and may begin after completing the medication, not necessarily during use. The product information and common reviews don’t seem to fully reflect this, and I believe users would benefit from clearer warnings based on experiences like mine."

For Dysuria "Worked well and cured the problem over 5 or 6 days. I was prescribed 56 capsules, and still have about half of them. I only took as many as were needed to stop the pain... no more than 3 a day, then reducing to 2 as the pain diminished. That was all I seemed to need."

For Dysuria "I went to the restroom at work, felt some discomfort and pain at the end of urination. Omg, haven't had a bladder infection in over twenty years. Seemed like each time I go, the pain was getting worse, so I was thinking I better get to the clinic tomorrow. I did a fast stop at Walgreens, got pills for bladder pain and cranberry juice. I just went urine gold, hope it helps, but I'm headed to the clinic when I awake, so I'll let you know what happens first urination in the morning if the pills helped or not. Reviews say it does, so we will see."

For Interstitial Cystitis "I have severe IC. I have Botox and a hydrodistention every 5 months outpatient for the disabling chronic pain associated with it. I take this as a prescription every single day. I have some in my purse and never go anywhere without it. IC is a terrible condition that sometimes takes years to diagnose. I have to catheter myself to use the bathroom. I also keep a heating pad with me at all times. But this medication saves my life and allows me not to be bedridden. IC has changed my life. If you have googled, “IC pain relief,” then your life has changed too. Keep this medication with you and it will be the single fastest way for relief. Also, do take it with food, and if you wear white underwear, and start wearing white underwear, bleach will take out the stains this causes."
