Phenazopyridine for Interstitial Cystitis "I am only 21 years old. I was diagnosed with IC. I wouldn't say I like taking AZO standard maximum pain relief, but it has been the only thing that helps. I have to take the prescribed amount every few months. Each time I have a flare-up, the side effects of AZO have gotten worse. When I first started to take it, I had no side effects from it. It has been a few years now, and every time I have to take it, the side effects keep getting worse. I feel fatigued, nausea, dizziness; all I want to do is lay in bed and not move. I don't think I am supposed to be taking it as often as I am, and it has taken a toll on my body. It is literally the only thing that helps."

Phenazopyridine for Dysuria "I found this to be incredibly helpful. I developed a urinary tract infection on a Friday night and had to go to work an hour later. Within an hour of taking AZO, I felt much more comfortable. It can make you feel dizzy. Therefore, I recommend taking the pill with a meal. My minor complaint would be that I found the time it took to kick in and wear off to vary greatly each time I took it. However, totally worth it. Warning: take an antibiotic when you can. AZO will make you feel better, but only temporarily."

For Dysuria "I took one of the 200 mg pills as prescribed to me for UTI symptoms. I took it with a meal and a glass of water as suggested. It did work relatively quickly to get rid of the urgency, burning, and pain. Unfortunately, it caused me to vomit up everything I ate and drank within 5 hours of taking it. Severe dizziness, nausea, and uncontrollable vomiting are not worth the benefits of the medication."

For Interstitial Cystitis "Recently, I started taking Azo Standard, which seemed to work fine. It cleared my symptoms, but I noticed that I had extreme dry mouth. Figured it would eventually go away. Like Azo products, so I decided to try their Bladder Control. Started to take it about 2 days after finishing the Standard. Again, experienced extreme dry mouth but with some added issues. My eyes were very dry and itchy, and I did notice slight discoloration. My eyes looked and felt tired. My skin overall was dry to the point of itchiness. Had leg cramps at night and sometimes during the day. All of these symptoms started happening towards the end of taking the Standard, but I brushed it off to a change in weather, dust, etc. I started taking the Bladder Control about 2 or 3 days after. I did follow the directions. Still didn’t think Azo was the problem, so I continued taking it until this past Friday, 11/5/21. I have been constipated, dizzy, nauseous, tired, and all the things stated above."

For Dysuria "I was given this medication after a procedure for kidney stones. It was given to me in recovery with no way to research it. It is in a family of drugs I am allergic to. It caused severe abdominal pain, dizziness, confusion, headaches, and vomiting. It contains Red 40, which is being studied for toxicity. Also, as of Sept 2022, this drug is not FDA-approved. Research this drug before taking it! It made me extremely ill."

For Interstitial Cystitis "My doctor prescribed me phenazopyridine 200 mg for IC. On my first dose, I was dizzy and just sleep; and in the second, I had nausea, vomiting, and chills."

Phenazopyridine for Dysuria "I’ve been having frequent UTIs, and at its worst, I will have hematuria (blood in urine), intense bladder cramps, and insane burning. When it gets like this, nothing brings relief as it’s just constant pain and burning in all positions. Frequent urination, but the blood makes it so intense. Pyridium has been my saving grace with it. I always take it with food. I took it once without and did get dizzy. It completely calms down my bladder and takes away the burning. Makes me feel like I don’t even have a UTI. I don’t notice any side effects with it, which is odd as I usually am sensitive to medications. It does make your pee bright orange and super duper quickly. I’ve never stained anything with it, though. It also makes the peeing frequent stop."
