"Started off with the 'Purple Pill' effective but very expensive. Physician switched me to 'Pantoprazole' (Protonix) - just as effective, a fraction of the price. My diet slipped back to pre-med carelessness (spicy food, garlic, onions, curries, etc.) and STILL no problems. I did go back to sensible eating at the urging of my daughter!"

"On Protonix only two days, feel 100% better from my erosive esophagitis. I couldn’t swallow because of the pain, and the gnawing pain between the breastbone killed me. Ended up in the ER (many) times. This med helped so much!!!"

"This is literally my second day on Protonix, and I am very happy. I will say I have experienced dizziness for about the first 2 to 3 minutes upon taking. I can deal with that; I am not experiencing acid reflux! I have literally taken Prilosec for six years. I had the gastric sleeve, which brings upon extreme heartburn."

"Protonix/pantoprazole worked great. However, I noticed I started gaining weight after several months. I made excuses for the weight gain but realized I wasn't eating much and was still gaining weight. When I gained 25 lbs after being on pantoprazole for a few years, I couldn't take it anymore. The weight gain was out of control and made me depressed. I decided recently to get off pantoprazole and go back to Pepcid AC. I have no idea how long it is going to take me to lose all this weight from taking this medication. I hope in the next 6 months I see some weight loss. Be careful taking this medication. Some doctors will swear it doesn't cause weight gain, while googling Protonix, you will find it actually does. Wish I had read on this site where someone else had weight gain from this medication and how long it took to lose it after getting off of it."

"I just started Protonix 6 days ago. I feel beat up. Does the Propofol used to do the procedure hang on for this many days? If it doesn't, then the Protonix is causing several symptoms. Lethargy, Dizziness, Dry mouth. And last and worst is constant ringing in my ears. It's getting very annoying. Has anyone else experienced this crazy ear side effect?"
